Came here during happy hour on a work trip. The staff was incredibly friendly and even taught me how to eat my first oysters! It was a little quiet when I was there, having some beer on tap would be a cool addition. The food was delicious though! The octopus ceviche was coated in a pretty sweet sauce, so be ready for that if you order it. The spanish octopus, oysters, and churro were outstanding! I will visit again next time I’m in town.

The owner Christophe and his wife are just the cutest. Service was impeccable, food well portioned and exquisite! Give one of the amazing cocktails a try while sitting on the balcony. We‘ll definitely be back! The best spot on our vacation so far.

My partner and I went for their happy hour and the drinks were unique and delicious! The sensory overload cocktail comes with an experience all on its own. Our server was also personable, attentive, and kind. The vibes were great overall!

We had a fantastic experience at this restaurant. The owner and his wife were incredibly friendly, offering a warm and proper greeting at the entrance. The service was excellent throughout, and everything was delivered with genuine smiles from both the owner and the staff. The food quality was generous and delicious, with a great variety of choices. The sandwiches were especially tasty, and the drinks and coffee were excellent as well. We also learned that the owner is a knowledgeable French foodie, which adds a subtle and enjoyable French touch to the menu. The atmosphere is one of the highlights—beautiful ocean views, fresh air, and an elevated location above the street that provides scenic views and reduces traffic noise. Overall, this is a must-visit spot when you’re in the La Jolla area.

Such a great experience, great vibes, loved the music, staff was amazing very cooperative, couldn’t have asked for a better night. Absolutely loved the crab cakes.

It's called Mediterranean, but it lacks Mediterranean dishes. Prime beautiful location, great drinks and questionable brunch menu and food. It explains why it is empty during brunch time at 1-3 pm ! I ordered octopus ceviche and had to return it as it was impossible to eat. It was fully covered in a ketchup-like sauce. Lamb gyro was ok, lacked some flavor and Mediterranean seasonings. My fiance had some brioche bun sandwich and loved it. This place has a lot of potential, but it needs a new chef and a new menu, someone who has real experience with Mediterranean food.

Good food and great service. The ceviche was spicier than expected but it was good. Will be back to try more dishes.

Me and my friend went there for couple of drinks after having dinner at other place. We both tried 2 different cocktails, so 4 different total, and each one was delicious. The bartender/server (apologies for not catching your name) was exceptionally nice and attentive, eventhough we found ourselves to be last guests in the bar, she was insisting for us not to rush. Drinks were great, and we had a dip trio, which we loved. Will definetely come back and try their dinner menu. Location is also great, you can walk down to the beach or even watch sea lions, who are super active in the evening, when there are no crowds of tourists

Ryan is the shit! He suggested good drinks that were actually yummy and was a very good vibe and made the whole experience for my friends a 10/10! HIGHLY SUGGEST!!!

Last night, I had the pleasure of dining at Beeside Balcony in La Jolla, and it was the perfect spot for a cozy date night! We kicked things off with the escargot and oysters Côte d'Azur, both bursting with flavor and beautifully presented. For the main course, I opted for the scallops, which were cooked to perfection--so tender and flavorful! My partner went with the pork osso bucco, and let me tell you, it was melt-in-your-mouth delicious. The ambiance is lovely, making it an ideal setting for a romantic evening. And don't forget to end your night at their speakeasy, The Honeypot. It's a charming spot to sip on creative cocktails and unwind after a delightful meal. Highly recommend this place for anyone looking to indulge in Mediterranean and French cuisine! Ask for Cecile - she was our server and she was a doll :)

Overall, we had a great experience! The waiter was great, the view was nice and the ambiance was romantic and quiet. We shared the Brussels, octopus entree, and ended with the baklava cake. The Brussels were delicious, octopus was very good but the cake was a let down. The crunch baklava pieces were good but it tasted like tiny layers between just vanilla ice cream. No cake to be found. Interesting concept but could use an evolution.

It has a different vibe than the Del Mar location but good food. The truffle fries were great, ordered the muscles in white wine sauce and crab cake as appetizers. Then split scallops and octopus ceviche as our dinner. The server recommended a crisp white wine that was reasonably priced and it was a good experience overall. I didn't love the octopus ceviche but they might just be a matter of preference. I'd go back.

This review is for its speakeasy, The Honey Pot (formerly known as The Hive), inside the Beeside Balcony in La Jolla. Reservation is suggested. You enter this speakeasy through the giant framed portrait located in the hallway by the bathrooms. The decor inside is beautiful, with flowers hanging from ceiling and wallpaper with giant roses. It is a small, cozy room with faux candles everywhere. There is also a DJ spinning tunes from 7pm. I love the food at Beeside Balcony but inside the Honeypot, you aren't allowed to order from restaurant menu. Instead, The Honeypot had a restricted shareable menu with small appetizer sized portions. We tried the beet salad, chicken skewers, sliders with truffle fries and cheese plate. Everything was delicious but portions were small. The cocktail drinks were good, with mocktails on menu as well. It was mostly empty when we were there so very quiet and relaxing vibe. If management is reading this review, my 2 suggestions would be (1) to lean into Honey Pot theme and have more honey inspired drinks, food and desserts, and (2) to allow food to be ordered from your amazing restaurant menu and not restrict to smaller bar menu.

The flavors were off, and although I appreciate live music, it was not the vibe. Volume was loud, not quite the right ambiance for this place. Drinks were not bad, that's their saving grace... but that's because some of the drinks were from their speakeasy menu. Escargot wasn't bad, but toast was a little burned. (You do not serve burned toast to guests. :/) Some sous vide salmon appetizer (I forget the name), and I love sous vide salmon, but they put too much of some seasoning around the edges that overpowers the flavor. Texture was also off. Spanish octopus was our favorite dish of the night. Photos on yelp are deceiving, because I was expecting whole pieces of octopus. This was already cut up. Bolognese also wasn't bad... but it was a little sweet, vs a savory comfort dish. Overall, a little disappointed, especially for a restaurant in La Jolla with San Diego pricing. I don't think I would come back....

Came here on Saturday for brunch and loved it! They have heaters to keep you warm as you enjoy your views! The bottomless mimosa is what initially drew me in but the service and taste will keep me coming back! I've been to the Del Mar location but service was kinda slow there. I decided to try this location since it's closer to me and the service was 10x better! The juice choices paired with champagne tasted great and your bottle comes in a chilled so it will never go room temp! We had fish and truffle fries, a nice warm soup, and Brussel sprouts but a salad version? My partner really liked the flavor of the Brussels sprouts!

Came for my son's birthday and our server was so attentive and gave my son lot of special attention. Great service,view, and quality food. Ample seating on a Wednesday night. Quiet and relaxed ambiance. Food was served promptly and served fresh and hot. Second time coming here. First time was right after they opened and they hadn't worked out the kinks but all was much improved. Nice menu selection. Apps were well done and delicious.

Excellent service by host and waitress. So attentive and on top of it to ask you if you want anything else. Went here for brunch. Delicious options. I had the avocado toast. It was huge but so good. Could've shared. There was also a drink where you eat this thing and it kind of stings you to help you taste the ingredients in the drink. I'm sorry forgot name but you'll see it in drink menu. We also all Shared some apps. We were there for a while lol. Chef came to say hi which was kind. Ambiance & music is cool.

My partner and I absolutely love this place! It's very family friendly, we have a 2 year old who is very busy, and this place allowed us to sit outside. There's almost no one here when we come, which is pretty surprising, considering the food and cocktails are so yummy and fairly priced! We also love their happy hour!!! Excellent service! A gorgeous brunch spot that overlooks the ocean! The other brunch spots nearby are super busy, and I was shocked that this restaurant didn't garner more attention; it's an amazing place for food and has great vibes! - PARKING - La Jolla will always be tricky for parking! I would recommend just parking a few blocks down and walking over as you'll get stuck in a traffic jam the closer you get to the coast! - SERVICE/ENVIRONMENT - Settled on the second floor next to another brunch establishment. You can take the escalator up, and you'll be right at the check-in desk for the restaurant. I wish they had more outdoor/patio seating, but they do open up the doors so that even the tables inside have the outdoor feel. After taking our order, our drinks and appetizer came out very fast! Unfortunately, there must've been some delay once more customers came in because we waited almost 20-25 minutes for our entrees to come out... I also noticed another table complaining to the waiter about how other tables seemed to be getting their food but they arrived first. It must've just been a hiccup with how fast service was initially. - FOOD - PEI Mussels ($26.00): WOW. These might be the best mussels I've ever had! The mussels themselves were very fresh, the sauce they cooked them in was absolutely delicious, and the toasted bread served alongside the dish was amazing!!! I wish they gave more slices of bread so we could soak up all the leftover sauce on the bottom! Poutine Bowl ($18.00): We're suckers for Poutine, so when we saw this as an option for Brunch, we immediately wanted to try it! The eggs on top were a bit overcooked unfortunately, and we didn't get the egg pop we were hoping for. Still, the dish overall was pretty tasty, just a bit salty towards the end. Spanish Octopus ($30.00): Seared perfectly, and the octopus was similar to the mussels in the fact it was very fresh. Nice complimentary salad beneath the octopus as well. Black's Beach ($13.00): The description of this cocktail sounded good, but it ended up tasting just like liquor. We were searching for the grapefruit and lemon flavor, but it was missing. Prickly Pear Ginger Beer: I wasn't feeling a cocktail, so I opted for a mocktail instead, which I love they have a separate list of! This was very refreshing and full of flavor! - OVERALL - I would definitely recommend checking out Beeside Balcony at least once if you're in the La Jolla or Del Mar area! Definitely get the PEI Mussels!!!

This place was delicious! It was a little confusing on where to find it exactly. Location is located on the second level. The inside was very nice and the food was great! For the appetizer we had the most popular recommendation, which was the trio dips with pita bread. The pita bread was one of the best pita breads I've had. Nice fluffy with good spices on it. For the main course ordered the filet and lamb. Both were very good. The sides for both were just alright. The fries that come with the filet did not have any rosemary coming through. Would have been nice to have some sort of sauce for them. The Lamb had a jasmine purée that was a little strong. The drink menu is also very good! I had the lavender bees knees. And dessert was the crème brûlée also good. Overall I would definitely recommend this place. Enjoy!

Ordered the escargot and out of shell cooked well, not chewy... smothered in butter, cheese, parsley and served with 1 slice of toasted toast, not enough for this super savory dish. The 4 scallops were presented on a board of puréed cauliflower, dressed with mango and smoky chunks of chorizo that made us burp all night. The smokiness of the chorizo was tasty and the dish over all was too heavy. Our server was sweet in suggesting wine to lighten up the dish... using personal experience and testimony for wine suggestions were helpful. The rooftop was pleasant for late night eating.

I hosted an early dinner here for my MeetUp Fun Diego Ladies group. Parking in La Jolla is always a challenge, so I made a dinner reservation for 5pm so that we could find parking without having to drive around in circles. Our group of 7 all drove separately and were able to find free street parking near the restaurant. I had originally reserved a table on the balcony so we could enjoy a view of the ocean, but it ended up drizzling so the hostess proactively reserved a nice table for us indoors. She also reserved a table for us inside the speakeasy. I ordered the PEI mussels and really enjoyed this dish. There was less broth than what I normally see at other restaurants, but it was well seasoned and the mussels were cooked just right. I would have liked just a bit more sauce so I could dunk my toasted bread. The salmon tartare had too much sauce and ended up being a bit too creamy. I did not care for this appetizer and was rather disappointed. The crab cake was a bit too dry and over fried. It looks like the crab cake ball was thrown in a deep fryer, as opposed to being pan fried, so it was crispy hard and oily. It was served on a bed of arugula that was drenched in dressing. It was about the size of a giant meatball, so I thought it was a bit pricey. The restaurant was beautifully decorated with a beehive theme. After dinner, we stopped into the speakeasy located on another side of the restaurant. It was very small, cozy, and beautifully decorated. I especially loved the flowers hanging from the ceiling. The drinks were very strong and pricey.

It is restaurant week and we are glad we went to Beeside Balcony. We are so happy to have a table with an awesome view. The 3 course meals are wonderful. Our server, Cecile, is amazing. She has great customer service. My husband left his phone. We came back and Cecile had set it aside for our return. We are so thankful for that.

The service was excellent, and the restaurant seemed nice, but I must admit that I was terribly disappointed by my lunch entrée. At $30 this was one of the most expensive entrées and I expected a fairly decent portion that the other diners received when they ordered salmon with their salad or even just a salad. However, unlike the photos that other diners have posted of their octopus entree in the past, this was my octopus entrée. As you can see there is barely any octopus visible. I would not go back again.

I had the amazing opportunity to be at Beeside Balcony in their private party room. The service was excellent and the decorations were cute! The foods is average, because it wasn't seasoned well which caused the flavors to not be dynamic. The drinks were decent because they were strong with flavors that hid the alcohol. I'd say the best part about this location is their friendly staff and environment.

Ah, Beeside Balcony - a hidden gem of a restaurant nestled along the breezy shores of La Jolla. My friend and I made reservations to sample their much buzzed about Mediterranean fare. We weren't greeted so we wandered in to try and procure our table for lunch. We decided to start with the hummus trio, which came out looking like a colorful bee garden arranged on a slate - the artichoke hummus glowed emerald green and the roasted red pepper hummus shimmered a vibrant ruby. Alongside, the hot pita waited like eager worker bees ready to transport these lovely pollen packs from plate to palate. The hummuses were smooth, creamy and herbaceous - we would have lapped them up with our tongues if society allowed such behavior! Next came the melted feta sandwich, ooey and gooey with tomatoes and cartelized onions, the perfect snack to share. As we passed halves back and forth across the table, the cheese strands stretched and snapped like elastic bands - I swear I heard a faint "boing!" sound effect. After polishing it off, we flaggged down our server to compliment the chef...and order another. The final act was the veggie risotto, creamier than a larva cocoon, seasoned to perfection. Each kernel of rice sat fat, happy and smiling, bathing in a broth of garden-fresh veggies - tomatoes, spinach, asparagus and peppers - that made us buzz with joy. As the sun set over the Pacific, we leaned back, patted our bellies and watched the real bees lazily returning to their hives. We made a toast - to new friends, new flavors, and the sweet Mediterranean treasures of Beeside Balcony! What an unbeeleeivable meal. Five out of five bees - would pollinate again!

This location is beautiful! It has an earthy yet modern vibe inside. Hostess was really nice, We ordered appetizers and honestly best part of the night. Mussels- neither was so perfectly seasoned Trio dip- home made pita and dips!!! Soooo good I got the soup de jour- it was a carrot and beet, the waitress said it was a borcht but it definitely wasn't- it was puréed and sweet, I felt like there was even cinnamon in it? And if you know me - cinnamon has no place in soups... was not good. My friend ordered the filet minion- very tender and cooked a little under than what she ordered But the sauce and broccoli were amazing.... This place is beautiful and delicious!

I am a BIG fan of Beeside Balcony in Del Mar, so I was stoked to find another location open up in the heart of La Jolla! This spot seems to be just a touch on the richer side with cream/butter, but delicious nonetheless! The PEI mussels never fail to disappoint me with that savory, garlicky broth. The grilled oysters too? Gorgeous and flavorful! Lamb meatballs were not as much my thing, but there's so much more I'd still order on the menu. Nice decor here and I'd love to come back when there's live music. Most impressive though was the attentiveness of the staff, from the hosts to the servers. Everyone I came across was so warm, inviting, and accommodating. 5/5 for service! Will definitely be back as this place opens up its own speakeasy!

Very tasty Mediterranean fare in a private feeling deck in downtown La Jolla. We originally went for the speakeasy which was closed during the week, but stayed to try the main restaurant. The servers were very kind and helpful, and all of their recommendations were spot on. The drinks were tasty and creative, and the trio dip is an absolute must. The homemade pita triangles are so addictive! It's not cheap but the servings sizes are reasonable with quality ingredients. TLDR; worth a try if you're in La Jolla looking for quality Mediterranean fare.

Roasted beets, a crimson surprise, A palette of flavors, a feast for the eyes. Broccolini arrived, a vinegary twist, A note too sharp, a moment dismissed. Yet amidst the flavors, a buttery wine, A nectar divine, an elixir so fine. Happy hours that lingered, 4 to 6's delight, And 9 to 10, under the evening's twilight. Music on Fridays, and Saturdays in tune, An ambiance alive, beneath the moon. A symphony of taste, a culinary song, In this haven of joy, where memories throng. This place is DELICIOUS.

The hostess on 12/14 did not honor our inside reservation from Open Table, saying they were "all booked" and didn't see our indoor reservation "on her end," but would seat us outside instead. No thanks, we made the indoor reservation for a reason. As a side note, the hostess acted like she was doing us a favor for letting us spend our money at "her" restaurant. Not welcoming!

One of my foodie friends invited me to Beeside Balcony overlooking La Jolla Cove, which recently opened in late April. The original location of Beeside Balcony is in old Del Mar. The owner, Christopher Cevasco, is third generation Spanish and Italian descent (from Paris, France). His restaurant career began at 17 in the kitchen of his father's restaurant in Pasadena then 8+ years as Managing Partner of Eddie V's Prime Steafood. Look up and you will see Beeside Balcony.  There is a broken escalator, stairs, or an elevator to get up there.  Lots of outdoor seating and some inside.  This will be an awesome place to dine when the weather warms up.  There is a view of the ocean between some tall buildings.   I had a sparkling lavender honey lemonade while I enjoyed the view.  Huge burst of lemon flavor with a light lavender flavor.  Quite an eye opener. I visited for dinner and ordered the filet mignon cooked medium.  Light char on the outside while the rest was juicy and tender.  I was very impressed by the almost melt in your mouth tenderness.  Rich beef flavor.  I dipped a piece of filet mignon in the au poivre sauce and it was delicious.  This and wild mushroom sauce are my favorite steak sauces. Rosemary fries were crispy with soft insides.  Rosemary and salt combined with the fried potato flavor to make for some delicious fries. Creme brulee had a hard sugary top with sweet cream beneath.  Loved the sweet vanilla flavor mixed with the fresh berries. Beeside Balcony combines dishes found in my favorite steakhouses with a bright energetic vibe you'd expect from a beachfront breakfast spot.  Service was excellent.

We were looking for a place to grab food after yoga and stumbled across this restaurant which had a great view of the water! Every employee here was super helpful and attentive. Our favorite was hands down the Bee's Board. I could have had this and drink and been satisfied! We shared the fjord salmon and they offered to split it on to two plates for us which was we appreciated! The Denver Steak had good flavor but was way over cooked and not tender. The Veggie Risotto had so much flavor I'd recommend this as a side! As for cocktails, we loved the Lavender Bee's Knees.

F A MUST visit place in LJ. Place is up on the second floor. Open concept . With view of the water. Decor has a Modern touch to it yet warm and welcoming. Food are excellent , savory, flavorful. Very interesting cocktail menu. Great Service . Got to meet the owner and chef Christophe super friendly. Will definitely be going back . And .. LIVE band playing

Excellent! Everything from the food to the service. My friends and I shared what known to be the best charcuterie plate with spicy honey and all sorts of cheeses. I got octopus for the main entrée and it was amazing and paired well with arugula salad. Views are memorable. I will definitely be back to check out more menu items.

Hello, I am leaving a bad review purely because of the hazardous rail that is a HUGE danger to it's customers. The food/service was fine, but that rail is a lawsuit waiting to happen. I tripped over the railing and cut my toe, and I am not exaggerating when I say we saw SEVERAL other people trip over it as well. If an elderly person fell over it (any other person for that matter), they could fall and someone could seriously injure themselves. My friend was saying I should've said something about my toe to them, but I was too shy. But we both agree it's important this is made down and that the company do something about it. However, I am SURE they know about it. In our one hour that we dined there, I think 4 people tripped on it, so I'm sure they see tens of people tripping on it every single day. They should replace the open doors maybe with a garage door so that they don't need the rail.

I brought people here for a business dinner and everyone loved the ambiance and food. This truly is a balcony, open air with a little view of the ocean. The wines, beer and mixed drinks were top level. The food was fantastic. Double pork chop Salmon Roasted chicken Filet Mignon Seafood risotto Octopus See bass Scallops Roasted beets The broccolini was too vinegary for me. The buttery white wine was one of the best I've had. They have Happy hour every day 4-6 and 9-10 and have music Friday and Saturday evenings.

me and my family had a good dinner here, their customer service is on point and very welcoming. The food and setting of the place was were nice and comforting, definitely going back again. I also recommend their beeside salad and PEI muscles

Took my husband to this restaurant for his 60th birthday. It was our first time there. Street parking is limited. However, there is a paid parking garage underneath. Make reservations as this is a very busy place. We had a party of eight. The food was elegant and yummy. Service was friendly, accommodating, and helpful. Dining area is small. However, there is patio dining as well.

This restaurant is beautiful and has the perfect rooftop lookout into the sea. I didn't feel too welcomed but the staff was decent. I looked forward to the chilean seabass with confit fennel and tomatoes, lemongrass beurre blanc, black tobiko, and crispy leeks. Doesn't it sound like it'd be delicious? The seabass wasn't flaky and buttery. (I was honestly worried it wasn't thoroughly cooked but it was.) The entire dish tasted like it was burnt. There was no taste of lemongrass or beurre blanc. It was a disappointing experience.

Cute little place in the heart of downtown La Jolla. Parking isn't the easiest, but there is a parking lot down the street you can pay to park. Menu options are good. We came with a big group so it took a while to get our food out. I had the avocado toast, the bread was so thick and very filling. My niece had the fish and chips- lightly breaded and very good fish. My sister had the steak and eggs, that was the one to get!

The Honey Pot (formerly, The Hive): Nice, but not a speakeasy as other comments here suggest. More like a private room (no bar); servers do bring you drinks and small bites. But definitely not a speakeasy.

Beeside Balcony is a lovely restaurant in the busy part of La Jolla, with an attractive interior and a great balcony space with a splendid view. I went last Friday with my husband, our two kids, and my in-laws, and we had a pleasant dinner to kick off a family weekend in town. I was able to make an online reservation for 5:30 on a Friday just a day in advance. Even better, we got an amazing table, overlooking downtown La Jolla, a big green park, and the ocean. We got a high chair for the baby and a full chair for the three-year-old, and incredibly, both children behaved themselves throughout the entire meal. The easy, vibrant atmosphere must have helped. They had nothing to upset them and plenty to observe. Service was excellent. We were well taken care of and enjoyed a peaceful dinner. We had a round of cocktails to start, and these were very welcome after the long drive from L.A. I had the Sensory Overload, a bright, refreshing drink made with Real del Valle blanco tequila, calamansi citrus, ginger syrup, yuzu, and buzz button (apparently a flower). My husband's Lavender Bee's Knees was great too, summery and purple, with butterfly pea flower-infused gin, lemon, and lavender honey. We had a bottle of barolo to go with our food, and this was also quite nice. The food was pretty delicious. We started with a Bee's Board, which came with a spread of salami, artichoke hummus, hipiti, caramelized shallots, cucumber, olives, old grain mustard, gorgonzola, Humboldt Fog, toasted pita, and homegrown honey. We got extra pita and our three-year-old went to town on it, largely ignoring the big plate of butter parmesan pasta we ordered off the kid's menu. The octopus ceviche was another tasty starter, a light, flavorful mix of octopus, pineapple, red onion, lemon juice, and jalapeño, served with tortilla chips. My husband I shared the seared Chilean sea bass and the peppercorn filet mignon for our entrées, and both were excellent. The fish was firm and buttery, on a bed of confit fennel and grape tomatoes with lemongrass beurre blanc, black tobiko, and crispy leeks. The 8 oz. filet was tender and juicy, cooked medium rare as requested. It came with a peppery au poivre sauce and rosemary fries. The kids were doing so well, we decided to push our luck with dessert, especially once I saw that there were churros on the menu. Our three-year-old loves churros and ate like 15 inches of cinnamon sugar-dusted deep-fried dough all on his own. I tried a bite too and yea, the churros were really good, served with caramel, whipped cream, and berries. The adults shared a lemon tart and a crème brûlée, and both were solid. The tart came with a tangy lemon curd filling in an almond shortbread crust, finished with raspberry sauce and berries. The crème brûlée had a lush, creamy vanilla custard and a thick, glassy caramelized top, and also came with berries. We had a great time at Beeside Balcony. I'd go back in a heartbeat if I lived in the area, with or without the kids.

First time at THIS location. I was able to find a parking near the restaurant which is great...didn't spend a lot of time searching for parking (+1 star); Love the outdoor dining experience (1+ star). I ordered my usual Lavender Bee's Knees cocktail...of course it was lovely. The staff was really nice and welcoming (+1 star). Buttt, I noticed the two tables in front me received their meals before me which is a no-no; needless to say, it was a long wait for me for some reason. I guess they thought the spirits would hold me down...distract me from the food not being punctual and not picking up the menu. Therefore, - 2 stars. I wonder why I had to wait for just a pesto shrimp linguine....it's not a complex meal...hmmm?

My boyfriend and I came here for a quick bite on Wednesday afternoon and had a great time! The hostess and server were great. Super nice, attentive, and helpful. We were sat right away and given the option of inside or out. We opted for inside because it was warm but still had a great view. I strayed with an espresso martini which was honestly a little too sweet. So I switched to the aperol spritz and it was much better. We shared the crab cake and baked oysters and were not disappointed! Really enjoyed the crab cake. I appreciate it comes in a ball shape instead of a hockey puck type shape. Feels like you get much more crab this way. We liked the baked oysters as well but they had a little grit to them. Flavor was there though. Parking can be tough because it's La Jolla in the summer but nothing out of the ordinary. I would definitely recommend coming here and we will be back to try dinner!

At first, I was upset because I had to wait a long time even though we had reservations. The service and ambiance made up for the wait. I love La Jolla. The food was excellent. We were very pleased with our food. On Fridays, they have a speakeasy called the Beehive. Password is released every Friday.

The Denver steak was cooked just as we asked for it, medium rare! It was flavorful and tender. The rosemary fries were okay, they honestly didn't have much of a rosemary flavor. The branzino was good, flavorful, however the sauce when served was just warm-not hot. Obviously you expect your food to be hot when you just get it. Our server was pretty knowledgeable about the menu, and friendly however didn't check on us after we received our meal. The ambiance was nice, it's very aesthetically pleasing with a partial view of the ocean if you sit on the patio. Overall it was good, but it didn't blow us away.

La Jolla has been one of my favorite places for a long time, and just over a year ago, I discovered one of my new favorite spots in La Jolla - Beeside Balcony. Everything comes together so incredibly well - the food, cocktails, view, vibe and service. Want a light and delicious combo? Try the Salmon Tartare + Arugula & Beet Salad, paired with an Apricot Honey House cocktail. Amazing. Make it "surf & turf" by adding an order of delicious Meatballs. And, those are only appetizers! I've eaten at Beeside three times and am looking forward to coming back soon to explore more of the menu!

Great service & delicious food! We split a couple of items and it was very fulfilling. Drinks were delicious as well.

Food was so good and tasty, the scallops had such an interesting flavor of char to them. Servers explained the menu items and shared their own recommendations which was cool, and it was nice to be seated up on the second floor and have a view. There were also different types of honey available to purchase

This is a must-go restaurant! Every item was incredible. For the vegan and the omnivore, the wine lover and the sans-alcohol (delicious mocktail menu!). Even the seemingly simplest dish, the trio of dips...came with the most amazing pita ever with three fantastic dips. Beeside's crab cake is literally the best you will ever have, by far. Escargots...amazing. Octopus...insanely good, and this from someone that generally doesn't like octopus. The empty plates pictured had the seabass and the tofu dish...each incredible! The tofu was crispy on the outside and "meaty" on the inside, paired perfectly on a bed of quinoa and veggies. The dessert...an innovative baklava ice cream cake that was simply incredible. And for the vegan, a bowl of delicious sweet fresh berries sprinkled with powdered sugar. All of this deliciousness in the heart of La Jolla, in a beautiful space with excellent, attentive staff. Our best restaurant experience in years.

Quality of food was bad compared to last time we were there, meatballs looked like they had been microwaved to long, were dry and chewy, the burger that we ordered that was medium rare was well well done and dry, the clams were very salty, we told the waitress about it and she just said sorry, didn't offer to discount the food or take it off , not going there again

I did not realize that there was a Beeside Balcony also in LJ, I only knew of the one in DM (which was featured in The Ultimatum: Queer Love). This location is chic & modern with gorgeous views of La Jolla Beach. Our server was attentive & nice & gave great recommendations. Trio of Dips: Artichoke hummus, spicy hipiti, house tzatziki. I loved how the pita bread was toasted & buttery. Oyster Cote D'azur: Delicious & big. Crispy Chicken Sandwich: A must order! I liked how they tempura batter the chicken, something different. Super juicy inside & crispy outside. All of the flavors- mango cilantro slaw, pepper jack, sriracha aioli, all mixed perfectly together. Fjord Salmon: Our server asked how we wanted our salmon cooked, which caught me off guard because I have only ever gotten salmon raw or fully cooked. But I guess this is a thing now! We got it prepared fully cooked & it was good, but thought that the sauce was a bit bland. Churros: We were super excited to hear that they serve churros but, unfortunately, they were rock hard! Also, at this location, they will be opening a speakeasy!

We stopped by for brunch and I'm so glad we did! Parking was pretty hard to find on a Monday afternoon, and we ended up parking in a structure nearby. The restaurant itself is on the second floor, accessible through stairs on the side. The decor is super cute and there are plenty of tables. Service was good, our server was very kind and prompt. Food came out pretty fast since we came on a weekday for brunch and there weren't many other people. We got their Lavender's Bees Knees and the Black Lava Margarita. Both were amazing and packed a punch. We usually order 2 cocktails each wherever we go, but one was perfect here. We both loved our drinks! As for starters, we got the oysters and broccolini. Oysters were so delicious and creamy. Broccolini was also pretty good. We both got the Beeside burger as our mains. They both came out closer to well done than medium, but they were absolutely delicious. We upgraded the fries that they come with to their truffle parmesan fries. We felt like the truffle was quite subtle and they were a miss with us, but the texture of the fries was great. Seems like a cute spot with great views!

Boyfriend and I came here yesterday and the location and views are awesome! Definitely a great date night place to eat. Unfortunately rating this place three stars. Quality of the food itself was great... but the taste not so much. The only thing that we really liked was the salmon tartare appetizer. The Cesar salad was meh.. not enough dressing and super light. Very kind of the server to separate the salad for my bf and I. The food plating here is gorgeous. The entree I got was the seafood risotto and it came with a lot of seafood but only one shrimp. The taste overall was bland especially for how expensive it was to me... garlic would've saved the dish but i couldn't finish it and only took a few bites bc I didn't enjoy it. My boyfriend ate his entire octopus entree but it was over cooked and very chewy. Service was great! But I don't think we will be coming back again.
