Best Restaurants in San Francisco’s Chinatown | Eater SF

"Begoni Bistro is a neighborhood favorite, and at lunchtime, the tables quickly fill up with locals vying for a bit of dim sum and full-scale dishes like braised fish in clay pots. Classic options on the dim sum menu, like sticky rice in lotus leaf and siu mai, are excellent, but also worthy of a mention are the steamed Chaozhou dumplings with pork, celery, mushroom, and peanuts, or the delicately battered and fried golden pumpkin dish. Diners who like to end their meal on a sweet note will want to try the steamed black sesame balls, which come in a set of four with finely crushed peanuts on top." - Dianne de Guzman

While this lunch was decent tasting and filling, I wouldn't say it's the best food I've had in Chinatown. Rather mediocre for my expectations. The pork buns and broccoli were really good, but the duck was a bit dry and the sauce too savory. Soup dumplings were nothing special. The space was filled with many different art pieces and the bathroom was well maintained. Our server wasn't super attentive, but got the job done.

Google
I don't generally write reviews while eating, however, what an excellent experience. We ordered multiple dishes from salt and pepper fish (S8) to the Wonton with house chili (D18). Fresh made and flavorful combined with just great ingredients. I can't speak to the things I didn't order, however, the things I ordered resonated. Also pictured, the beef chowfun (N6) and mixed vegetables (V4) were excellent. I did ask for some additional chili oil as I like extra spice on everything. Great meal overall and will now be my regular stop in Chinatown.

Google
Really enjoyed having dinner here!! We got the duck, bbq bao buns, pork soup dumplings, and green beans. Soooo good and will be back

Google
Definitely had better experience in the past ordering other dishes. We were here for soup dumplings.. probably on me for choosing this spot when there are plenty of other options in San Francisco. The XLB were overcooked.. there was no broth in any of them. It also came in those tins so I'm wondering if it's all frozen/premade ones. Either way they should've came out with broth inside.. We love salt and pepper fried chicken, but this didn't scratch the itch at all either. I think the initial disappointment from the soup dumplings ruined the overall experience.

Our experience at Begoni Bistro was a mix of hits and misses. After a brief 15-minute wait, we were seated at the bar, which turned out to be a cool and unique experience while dining for dim sum. We ordered a variety of dim sum dishes, and while none were bad, most failed to leave a lasting impression. The Steamed Shrimp Dumpling and Deep Fried Pork & Shrimp Tofu Skin Roll were decent but didn't stand out. The Steamed Chicken Feet and Spicy Steamed Pork & Shrimp Siu Mai had acceptable flavors but lacked the exceptional taste that sets apart great dim sum. The Beef Short Ribs with Black Pepper Sauce and Deep Fried Wonton were average, meeting expectations but not exceeding them. One dish that did manage to shine was the Golden Durian Crisp. The deep-fried crispy puff filled with sweet durian had a delightful fragrance and a well-balanced sweetness. It was the highlight of our meal and left us wanting more.

Google
Took my family here for lunch. All the food items we ordered here we excellent! My whole loved it. The Peking duck was the best. Will definitely come back again. You can go wrong with this place. We noticed restaurants near by were fairly empty with no waiting line. This one was crowded and we had to wait 30 minutes. Well worth the wait!

Google
Good place for Dim Sum, friendly service. Not the best Dim Sum I had but if you’re craving it this is your place! Siu Mai was great, xiao long bao just ok… my wife liked the Tiger Prawns.

Google
A great place for lunch dim sum. The food is great and mostly delivered timely. When it gets busy, it is a little chaotic. My favorite is the fish porridge and the eggplant. They have a wonderful selection and should keep all in your party satisfied.

Yelp
There's a lot of dim sum in SF especially in Chinatown, so it's hard to know which spot is good or not since there's so many to choose from. I took my parents out for lunch and we got a lot of variety. Menu was super extensive and had pictures which is a huge plus since we know what the food will look like. The service was good, but they forgot our iced water when we ask for it, so we just drank hot tea. We got string beans with XO sauce, which is a must for Chinese food. It was good. Pork & shrimp sui mai was also good, better than some of the places I've had in the Bay. My parents like the sticky rice with lotus leaf, but I wasn't a huge fan. They ordered chicken feet and that came out piping hot. Beef chow fun is also a must order, and that was my fav dish. House fried rice was not too salty/bland. It was perfectly seasoned. My sister really likes the walnut prawns. For desserts, we ordered 1 fried sesame balls and 2 orders of egg custard tarts which I feel is a bit pricey for what it tastes especially the egg tarts. One thing, my parents noticed is that whatever the food you order and they serve it to you, it will remain hot until you finish, which is so great. Not a lot of Chinese dim sum restaurants will have that kind of quality. Also, every kind of dish we order, it's not too oily or salty. You'll know you enter a Chinese restaurant when you hear them loud and clear outside & inside the restaurant lol. They'll scream and shout, but that's just how they are. Bathroom could be a lot cleaner though.

Yelp
Me first time here and I really enjoyed all day dim sum. All their food is good. Their service is also really good. I wish I had a bigger appetite that night so I may try more of their other items. The decor is pretty normal like typical nice Chinese restaurant in Chinatown. Overall a very enjoyable dinner. I will definitely be back.

Yelp
Right across from the great start theater, it was easy to dine in with a group of friends agter a shoe. I have a gluten allergy so I was worried on what I could eat. But this place was flexible! They swapped out the soy sauce with gluten free soy sauce where they could. This made me incredibly happy and I didn't miss not having the buns and dumplings at all. The waiter was incredibly nice. He accommodated as best as he could. We ordered a ton of dishes for a group of 7. My favorites were the peking duck and sautéed eggplant and string beans. Next time i'd skip the Szechuan chicken and mapo tofu. It wasn't Szechuan style at all but thats okay, the rest of the dishes were plenty good

Yelp
good food and quick service! The dumplings and chicken are very good. Not too crowded inside

Yelp
Really enjoyed this spot in the busy streets of Chinatown. The food was quite good and service was fast. The place is nice and clean as well.

Yelp
Good dim sum, decently priced. Good flavor and attentive service. Go to spot for dim sum in CT.

Yelp
The very first thing I want to point out is that Begoni has the absolute BEST shui mai that I have ever had. And I've had a lot of them! We got the spicy version and just wow! The flavor was phenomenal. The spice was the perfect amount while somehow still letting the pork and shrimp be the star! The rest of the dim sum was also amazing! The sticky rice is one of my favorites! And my fiancé just loves the steamed bbq pork buns (they have the same ones are their other restaurant-Osmanthus). Also the pan fried mushroom buns might be just as good as the shui mai. The dough has a nice slight sweetness to it with the filling being full of umami flavor from the mushrooms. And the texture is just amazing. The servers are also very quick and sweet. And the restaurant itself is beautiful. Very clean and elegantly done. With so many dim sum places to choose in the area, I'm so happy to have finally tried Begoni. Hands down the best in China Town!

Yelp
First things first - the wait! They recommend you get there around 30 min - 1 hour ahead of time to put your name down on the clipboard. We waited maybe around 25 minutes to get seated at 7 pm, mainly because most of the parties on the list had left by then. :) They were definitely already busy so you gotta get your order in fast! Here's a breakdown of what we ordered: Pork xiao long bao - good flavor but not the best I've had (7/10) Shrimp cheung fun - this was delicious and I wanted to order more as it's difficult to find this dish after 2 pm (9/10) BBQ pork buns - suuuper soft buns and fresh sweet pork filling!! 10/10 Salted egg yolk buns - literally exploded so beware white shirt. overall sweet and salty, great texture and a refreshing break from custard buns (9/10) Siu mai (not pictured) - delicious staple. no complaints (9/10) Excited to come back with a bigger group! Only thing - wishing tea was complimentary at the beginning of the meal, not $8 extra!

Yelp
Great place to go for dimsum in Chinatown! The food came out hot and fresh, highly recommend the rice noodle rolls and the durian puffs! The restaurant does get busy, so come early especially on the weekends to avoid waiting in line. We came around 10am, and did not have trouble with getting seated for a party of two. Parking may be difficult since it is Chinatown, but there is metered street parking or parking garages nearby.

Yelp
I came here for a party that served us buffet style. Ask them about catering or party trays! They had a wide selection of dim sum and dinner items. My favorite was the custard bun! The green dumpling had mushrooms! Their chow menu was also very yummy. The staff are very nice and try their best to accommodate all sized groups. They helped us grab chairs from other tables so that we had enough for our group.

Yelp
i love dim sum and wanted to try a new spot. this place didn't disappoint. selected this place bc a lot of people were eating here when we walked by. i was scared the wait would be long, but it wasn't bad at all! like 2 mins. this place also has a full bar. so if want to drink while eating dimsum, that is def an option:) the food was good. i really like their sticky rice. dumplings were good as well. soup dumplings was pretty good but hate it when it's in the foil. the skin sticks to the foil, so it breaks and no more soup for me:( but all good, it was still tasty. i would def come back.

Yelp
We were searching for dim sum in Chinatown and found Begoni Bistro. Thought to give it a try. We noticed there weren't many locals here and prices were quite high. We might be natives, but we rarely eat dim sum in Chinatown and this would be a new experience for us. The restaurant was a step up from a hole in the wall, so I guess that's why the prices weren't "Chinatown" prices. But these days, there's no such thing as Chinatown prices anymore! Except for the C rated produce after 4 pm where it's marked down and stores are closing, it seems everything has gone up! No matter where you're at in the city, you're breaking the bank! In any case, we were seated quickly and at this point, at least 75% of the tables were occupied. It was 2pm and it's still pretty busy. We ordered a few dim sum dishes and a beef chow fun to fill us because dim sum is a light meal with little bites here and there. More often, you leave hungry, so we made sure we went away full and satisfied. However, the beef chow fun was a bit heavy on the tummy and made me feel more full than I would have liked. I couldn't eat the steamed egg yolk buns for dessert and had to box them to-go. Here's the rating of what we ordered: *Beef chow fun - a bit greasy and heavy 3/5 *Fish and chive steamed rice rolls (only 2 rolls were given) - good but small 4/5 *XLB soup dumplings - the top of the dumplings were hard, soup was ok, meat filling could be softer. 2/5 *Steamed beef balls - tasted average. 4/5 *Steamed egg yolk buns - they give you 3 and when I finally had them at home, they were still pretty good after a few seconds in the microwave. 4/5 We ordered chrysanthemum tea and they charge $1.75 per person. They do give you a pot, so you're able to pour your own tea whenever you'd like. Service was average. We got our food in a reasonable time. But trying to pay for our bill took awhile to grab someone's attention. We had to wave our hand a few times before someone came to our table. Food was ok, but I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here. For the price, I might as well pay premium for dim sum in the Richmond District.

Yelp
This restaurant was so disappointing. I should have looked closer at the second choice. The second choice had more reviews. The food was just OK. I enjoyed the flavor of the garlic noodles. I ordered it with shrimp. The shrimp were over was overcooked. We were looking forward to the lobster dim um but, when we got there, we were told that they were out of it. The green beans were good flavor nicely cooked, and the most disappointing part for me was the service. I felt I kept having to look for someone to ask for anything. No one never came to check on us. I forgot about an one of the dim sum orders we placed for the shrimp and pork. when we finally got it, I felt like it tasted overcooked, I would recommend trying the second choice or even the third on Yelp.
google avatar

Yanqing C.

Yelp
The rice noodle rolls are not crispy and not tasty. They also said that has water means they are not crispy. Poor attitude and no service. No one came to refill tea. I will not go again. Very poor service
google avatar

Andy L.

Yelp
Street parking is terrible on this street. Service is very good especially if you can speak Canto. It helps. Mostly great tasty clean food. Some are heavy on the cooking oil. In my opinion, it's cheap and great for the value.
google avatar

Mary D.

Yelp
Small local spot that is definitely worth all the attention. We came in just for a light bite because we wanted to hop around and try a few places. Food was delicious. Staff was attentive and friendly. Prices were average. We will definitely go back and get a full meal. Go here if you are in town and you won't be disappointed

Yelp
I found a recommendation for this place on Reddit and I can confirm that the food here is delightful! Sticky rice, crab doub dumplings, beef noodle dumplings, pork puffs...omg so yummy. I think this is a strong contender for amazing within the amazing district.

Yelp
Begoni Bistro is a great dim sum place in Chinatown. Even during the busiest hours of the day we were able to get a table pretty quickly, and despite how packed the place was we typically waited no more than 10 minutes for the items we ordered for that round to arrive. The food is fantastic, and I especially recommend the baked bbq pork buns as well as the pork and shrimp siu mai. The interior of the restaurant is well lit with a main seating area as well as a bar towards the front of the restaurant. The interior is well decorated and there are plenty of seats. Overall, this place has everything you'd want in a solid dim sum place plus fast service, so definitely check this place out if you are in the mood for dim sum!
google avatar

Yelp
This place was something else! Not only was it jam packed on a Monday, it was really good! I really did not like the texture of some of the dumplings, my husband was fine, but they were the "crystal" wrap/dough and it was super chewy, almost like slime. I can't really dock any stars for that, as it's a me problem, not their problem :) Keep in mind that you have to come up to the bar to get a table, they will not seat you if you're just standing around the door! Very homey, felt like I was in someone's house at a family reunion haha! Overall cool experience!

Yelp
WRONG ORDER alert! I ordered the Eggplant with shredded chicken clay pot to go. According to their website and photo online, it comes with mushroom, celery, eggplant, shredded chicken and clearly you can see tofu and bell peppers in the pot. What I received was eggplant with shredded chicken STIR FRY with a side of rice. They didn't even cook it clay pot style because they were lazy, didn't want to take the time to get the customer's order right. Very disappointed, it wasn't cheap either. They just take people's money and give them something they didn't even order. 1 star.
google avatar

Yelp
Best Peking Duck in the Bay! At least according to my wife. That's an unofficial rating but pretty accurate seeing as how often she orders it. Begoni Bisyro offers a nice crispy skin while having juicy and tender meat underneath. The little buns are cooked perfectly. And they have wonderful dim sum too. This time I only ordered the pork and shrimp shu mai but I've had a variety of others before and they were all delicious and authentic. With so many places to try in Chinatown you might skip this place but you would be missing out. FOOD: Like I said. Awesome. I also ordered the hot sizzling fish (love a good fish) but it came out breaded and I couldn't eat that much in carbs so they went back and made it without breading and it was pure deliciousness. So good SERVICE: Did you not read my story about redoing the fish? So nice and service oriented! COST: Who cares for food this good? But seriously very reasonable. A whole duck for under $60 and our sizzling fish for under $20! We will keep coming back.

Yelp
Came here for lunch because a friend and I were craving dim sum and it was good! My favorite was the BBQ Pork Buns. We were trying to decide between the steamed and the baked but since the menu said that the baked isn't always available, I thought we should try to order the baked. It was definitely the right choice! I loved the contrast of texture between the crispy top and the chewy soft fluffy bun itself. Although the BBQ was a lil more sweet than I usually like it, it was still delicious and my favorite. Unfortunately the Xiao long bao skin wrappers are too thick and so they didn't feel like proper xiao long baos. Would not recommend. The spicy shumai were also something to note because I've never had spicy ones before and they were surprisingly good! Service was also good - they were really fast in getting us seating and taking our order.

Yelp
Ordered group lunch for our team. Everything was well labelled and nothing was missing. Some people commented that food was on the sweeter side but what ive tried were savory. Recommend the Garlic Noodles and General Tso 's Chicken, which tastes like orange chicken.

Yelp
We were in the City for "Empire Strips Back" (recommended), which plays right across the street. We parked a couple of blocks away at Portsmouth Square Garage. Begoni has good reviews and my wife liked the use of quasi-table cloths. Very good Chinese food with an extensive menu. We were given an order sheet to self-fill out. Beer and wine are offered. Our waiter was helpful with recommendations. I restrict my 5-star ratings - very stingy. So, if I'm not finding anything to complain about, then a 5-star review is warranted.
google avatar

Yelp
Found Begoni Bistro from yelp, located in Chinatown in San Francisco. Cute little restaurant has a more elevated feel interior, hence the "bistro." You order all of your dishes on a sheet of paper and mark them, then hand it to the waiter. Food was really good and economical. I will say the price does match the portion so I appreciate that. I will say the beef rice noodle was my favorite. My least favorite would be a dumpling that was slightly dry, but all dishes tasted really good and presented well. Dishes came out at a good pace.

Yelp
Dim Sum was a bit pricey, but gorgeous interior design and very nice staff all around. Besides just dim sum they also serve different types of family style dishes and stir fries. Some pleasant surprises were the: Pan Fried Shrimp Tofu Skin Roll, Steamed Pork Ribs and Chicken Feet. The shrimp tofu roll was perfectly crispy on the outside and juicy shrimp on the inside, it paired up great with the sweet and salty soy sauce. The pork ribs were on the fattier side but they were rich and flavorful, same with the chicken feet. Unpleasant surprise: Steamed Beef Cattle Blind, this dish was pricey but it was very bland and had almost zero flavoring. Only soy sauce was used and it did not pair up well with the dish, wouldn't recommend this.

Yelp
We were visiting SF for a week and were dying for Dim Sum. We came across this restaurant in the middle of China Town and it immediately stood out because of it's interior decor. The restaurant is pretty big, nicely decorated, and very clean. We added our name to the waitlist and were seated within a reasonable timeframe. The servers were friendly though sometimes the language barrier got in the way - we asked for a specific item and they must have misunderstood us because they never brought it lol but it was fine because we had ordered so much food. The duck was absolutely amazing. The chicken feet were so soft and tender. The soup dumplings were my friends' favorite. Everything came out quickly and hot. We also ordered oolong tea. Everything is reasonably price. We spent approximately $70 (pre tip) for three people. Would highly recommend!
google avatar

Kayla L.

Yelp
Came in the late afternoon and they still have dim sum service. Great and efficient service. Food were great and clean restaurant. Portions were appropriate. The bbq pork buns both steamed and baked were amazing. Congee and soup dumplings are alright, tasted bland. If you are in the area, worth giving it a try!
google avatar

Yelp
This is my second time at Begoni and I absolutely love their food and service. The salt and pepper tofu was not too spicy for me and it had a good kick. The hakaw and pork siomai was fresh and the combo fried rice also not salty. When in SF, I will definitely come back here.

Yelp
Rounding up from 4.5 because overall really lovely. We had dim sum only but the other dishes at nearby tables looked and smelled amazing so would definitely come back for the rest of the menu. The reason this was not a 5 star perfection for me was that the Xiao long bao my absolute favorite was not as soupy as my favorite ones in Chicago. Delicious definitely but the broth was more watery and just less volume than what I expected. That being said it was delicious and I ate 6 personally. The star for me was the XO turnip cake. It was like deep fried cubes of turnip cake with a garlic and pepper garnish on top and it made my beloved turnip cake that much better. Drool worthy. I'll be dreaming of these for a long time to come. Also had a deliciously fluffy mushroom bao bun it was smaller than what I am used to but the dough was the best I've ever had. Not too sweet, cloud like, with just a little char/sear on the top and bottom that really added a nice crunch to an otherwise very soft bun. Delicious. Service was fine, this place was packed even at 2p on a Saturday but we never had any issues getting someone's attention. Can accommodate groups or single diners. We waited about 10 minutes to walk in but at times I watched groups wait closer to 20. Definitely worth a visit! Get the XO turnip cake!!!

Yelp
Delicious! Staff was super friendly and helpful. Salt and Pepper Calamari was the best fried Calamari we've ever had everything was super free and delicious.

Yelp
Begoni?! More like busting in my mouth!! Dead ass family this was an absolute W in the chat and I'd pay the fanum tax everytime!! Goated dim sum got me bent over reciting the 50 states!!!
google avatar

Yelp
There was an entire cucaracha in our stir fried veggies. I don't think I'll eat Chinese food ever again and the wait staff seemed completely unfazed. I don't have a photo of it because, well, I was too busy dying on the inside. They didn't comp our meal even though we certainly weren't hungry any more, and this is probably because I'm not a yeller. They did take the cost of the dish off the bill.
google avatar

Cassandra C.

Yelp
If you come here, PLEASE get the Peking duck. It's so good. We showed up here on a Sunday afternoon to a mild wait for our party of 3. More the restaurant is on the small side. Once we were seated, we were able to order dim sum and food from the paper menu. Just write down how many of each dish you want. We ordered the usual suspects - har gow, shu mai, etc. but the star of the show was the Peking duck. We ordered a half and it was just perfect. It reminded me of the Peking duck I've had in Asia - so good!
google avatar

Yelp
Came here from Oahu, we loved the food. Big fan of the pork and shrimp sui Mai (pork hash). Will come again.
google avatar

Yelp
AMAZING food here. Came for my birthday, with my family of picky eaters. The dim sum here changed their minds. Around the corner to the left down the alley is the fortune cookie factory that's worth a stop too.

Yelp
Begoni Bistro is a superb dim sum spot with great service and really reasonable prices! The cherry on top is their sizable portions. Great place for large groups and small tables alike. Steamed Shrimp Dumplings - The rice wrap was very chewy, and the shrimp was savory. I think it could have been even better with something to dip it in. String Beans w/ XO Sauce - Perfectly crunchy, and I loved the XO sauce with scallions and sausage. This would make a really great dish to share. General Tso's Chicken - Sweet, just a little spicy, and tasted so good with the chilis.

Yelp
My daughter and I headed to San Francisco to look around China Town, for a bit and to get Dim Sum. Dim Sum is my favorite food and Begoni Bistro is now my number one spot for my favorite food. I had shrimp dumplings and fried pork buns. The food is fresh and delicious. I wish I could go every day...
google avatar

Yelp
I was craving dimsum in the evening and this was one of the only places open. I was really hungry and was super excited to try. But it was okay. Not the best dimsum I've had but also not the worst. Service was great. Waitresses were kind and brought out the food quickly. But there were leftovers that were not taken home. The restaurant itself was well lit and looked very nice.
google avatar

Yelp
This place makes heavenly dim sum. Everything we ordered was fantastic. So much so that we came back the next day. We ordered some honeycomb sponge cake, siu mai, har how, char siu bao, taro cake and pork puffs. Each bite was bursting with flavor and quality. I recommend everyone to come here for dim sum. You won't be disappointed. They had decent prices. It's just so worth it. It appears to always be busy here, which is a very good sign. For what I found a bit different was the $8 price tag for a pot of tea. Granted you were able to select your own flavor and the quality of the tea was definitely higher than the average. I am assuming that these teas are a good pairing for the amazing dim sum. Either way, I loved the food here and will be returning the next time I'm in SF.

Yelp
You know a place is good when the lines goes out the door. First impression from entering begoni bistro is the lively ambiance. Lots of seating available from family style table to bar seating. Dim sum is served to order style there's not dim sum carts here. Portion sizes are bigger by about 1.5 traditional dim sum. We ordered all of our regular favorites like siau mai, chicken feet (highly recommend), flat noodles, crab fried rice, lotus rice, xiao long bao, and much more. Some of their entrees was a miss. Singapore noodles were undercooked and under seasoned. Might have been prepared too quick. Service was fast, and efficient! Loved every bite of our food and we can't wait for our return.

Yelp
We ended up here because we had a hard time parking today anywhere near Embarcadero and Tadich Grill was closed for lunch. So, we went to a new place recommended by yelp reviewers and they were not wrong. Great service, reasonable prices, and the food was very good. We sat next to a couple visiting from Texas and we even ended up sharing food. What did we order?the usual: chicken and vegetable chow mein with pan fried noodles, green beans, and garlic sauce, baked pork buns, and the most delicious sesame balls for dessert. The place has an extensive variety of wines.

The place is nicely decorated. Staff is friendly and greeted us right away. The place has a small bar with about 6 bar stools. Good for groups of 20-40 people. They are known for their freshly made dim sum. Service is friendly and attentive. Shanghai Soup Dumpling (XLB), clear soup and meat was nicely seasoned. Comes with ginger and vinegar. Sweet & Spicy Chicken Wings - They were tasty and had a mild sweet & spicy garlic sauce. I wish the wings held on to their crispiness, but they were drenched in the sauce. It not a strong flavor, but tasty. Order steamed rice to eat all the delicious sauce. Beware, they are NOT Sang Tung Wings, so don't get your hopes up. But worth trying. Steamed Custard Buns - nice and soft bun and custard filling was light. Only con...only 1 restroom for the entire restaurant.

Yelp
Pretty good for another dim sum place in Chinatown! I actually came here on a Thursday for lunch, thinking it wouldn't be that filled, but it was pretty packed! I actually didn't have to wait too too long fortunately so I think it took like around 20-30 minutes for us to get seated. This place is essentially another standard dim sum eatery. You get a huge menu with a plethora of small/big dishes, and you check off how much you want of each thing. It was very crowded, so the service was a little slow and hectic. When we came, we got the chinese donut noodle roll, the lobster har gao, soup dumplings, some siu mai, salted egg yolk buns, porridge, and salted egg pumpkin which was actually my favorite. Everything was good overall! I just think the only thing lacking were the soup dumplings. I always have this sudden urge to order this whenever I'm at any dim sum place, but I was pretty disappointed in this one in particular. There was barely any soup in the dumpling, and it just tasted kinda dry. I wouldn't recommend it. But everything else I would get, and it all tasted pretty good too. I would definitely come back again. But knowing dim sum and all the asian families/friends there, you gotta come early or expect to wait a while with a huge crowd of people!

Yelp
Not sure why this place is rated 4 stars because it's prob 3 stars at best. The food option was pretty limited compared to other places in Chinatown and SF in general. The only thing I liked was the chicken feet and XLBs but the shrimp dumpling was lacking in flavor and the skin was mushy. I also had to poop in the middle of my meal (prob too much grease) and there was only one bathroom for both male and female so that was a downside. The bathroom also didn't have paper towels so I had to use the seat cover to wipe my hands (not recommended). The atmosphere is definitely on the rowdy/noisy side and it was hard to have a conversation without shouting at my family. They overpack the place and service was kinda slow compared to other dim sum places. Overall prob won't come back here unless I'm constipated and feel like shouting at my family :).

Yelp
I've never looked at the reviews on their page and have been here various times so it's interesting to see the mixed reviews! I honestly really love this place and they have great lunch specials. I love ordering a tea as they bring you the kettle and you can pour yourself. The teas they carry are sold in Chinatown which is a plus if you're into tea! Every time I come here they're pretty packed even for breakfast. The inside is a family owned vibe with around 15 tables inside. They do have a wide selection of drinks and a bar. This restaurant is located right in Chinatown so if you're in the area during lunch I recommend coming and trying the pan seared mushroom buns and steamed shrimp dumplings!
