"The understated strip mall location and simple interior of Restaurant Persia on St. Jacques in NDG belies some formidable culinary delights within (not to mention the owners’ caring approach). Homemade specials rotate throughout the week, with the halal kebabs served daily. Be sure to try the moist kobideh (minced lamb) kebab or the barg (cubed lamb) option, both served with fluffy saffron rice. Fall-off-the-bone lamb shanks are featured as a special, too, served with herbed rice laden with dill and fava beans: When winter really hits, this will warm you from the inside out." - Ivy Lerner-Frank

"This family-run restaurant specializes in home-style Iranian fare. The classic lines and unobtrusive colours of the interior complement the bright colours of saffron and pomegranate on the plates, and although it’s tucked away inconspicuously in a mall on St-Jacques, it’s a good find for those who know where to look." - Karin Murray-Bergquist

The food was really tasty and unique and the quality was pretty good! The combos don't seem like the best deals, our side ordered 5 plates and the other side ordered a 5 person plate. They paid quite a bit more than us but only had a bit more food. They also only had one extra meat compared to us. That said, the food was excellent and I'm looking forward to coming back to try more dishes. Also the lentil soup was spectacular!

We came to this restaurant as everytime we visit Montreal we like to have some Persian food. We saw this restaurant had 4.5 stars so we immediately decided to come to Behesht. The spot itself is very cozy, small but cozy. The inside is designed very nicely giving you a taste of what Iranian restaurants are like. My dish (bakhtiari $50) Others ($20-30) The kabob was pretty tasty however there were a few critiques. The rice had a bit of a smell to it, I’m not sure why.. if it’s cheap rice or maybe the way they made it? One of the beef kabobs were completely burnt on the back as well. The chicken was juicy and tender but lacked salt as I had to put salt on my whole dish. The salad and most-mousier (yogurt) was delicious. The service was also OK. Tea was complimentary but they brought the tea with our food dishes still on the table so we tried to stack our plates and make room for the tea. They also forgot to bring our drinks and we had to remind them. One more thing: the bathrooms are very dirty! If the owner or staff sees this I hope it gives them a sign to clean their bathroom…. For these reasons I can only give this place a 3/5

This was my fourth visit to the restaurant, and it may very well be my last. While I appreciated the flavors of the food, I was utterly disappointed with the service. As a regular customer, I chose not to leave a tip this time to express my dissatisfaction with the service. To my surprise, the person at the checkout even noticed and inquired, "Didn't you like the service?" The only reason I rated it 2 out of 5 was because I specifically wanted to order the lamb chunk gravy alone, as I do not enjoy the chuck. However, I was informed that this was not possible, which was disappointing. In contrast, other restaurants typically inform customers that ordering parts of a dish separately is not an option but may offer the gravy as a complimentary addition to accommodate their preferences. Behesht should understand that customers are the cornerstone of any successful business. Ultimately, we dine out to savor our meals, not to encounter such rigid and unsatisfactory policies, especially over a simple gravy dish valued at $5-6 only!

This restaurant offers an unforgettable taste of Iran's culinary treasures. From flavorful kebabs to fragrant rice dishes, each bite is a journey through Persian cuisine. The warm hospitality and inviting ambiance make it a must-visit for food enthusiasts. Highly recommended! Very good quality and friendly staff. Definitely, I will recommend this restaurant to my friend and others who ask me where the best Persian restaurant in Montreal is.

Honestly one of my favorite restaurants to go to. The food quality is 5 star, the service is amazing and the restaurant coziness is great. You can bring a date, you can bring your family or you can come alone to eat. It hits every mark. The food is by far the best Persian food in the city.

I recommend this restaurant : 1) The service was good, fast, and appropriate 👌 2) The food quality was really good, I can say it was on top of what I expected. However, it would be excellent if the kebabs were more greasy 😉 3) The place is cozy with nice decorations 4) Most importantly, the prices are fair Overally you'll enjoy

I recently visited a charming Persian restaurant that left me with mixed feelings about my dining experience. The cozy atmosphere and friendly service created a pleasant ambiance, making me feel welcome right from the start. The service, in particular, was a highlight, with the staff being attentive and accommodating throughout the evening. However, the culinary journey had its ups and downs. While the kabobs were delightful, perfectly grilled to bring out the rich flavors of the marinated meat, the soup didn't quite match my taste preferences. Additionally, the mysterious "tag dig" added an intriguing element to the meal, sparking my curiosity. Considering my experience, I would rate this restaurant 3 out of 5 stars. The excellent service and flavorful kabobs balanced out the aspects that fell short, making it a decent dining option for those seeking a taste of authentic Persian cuisine in a cozy setting.

This place was in my list for quite a while but In my opinion it’s overhyped. We had lamb shank, fesenzoon & kabab. The Kababs were really good but the lamb shank taste was not good. Fesenzoon was unique so some people will like it some people won’t. They gave us complimentary tea which was really nice . The service was really good , so is the vibe. You should definitely go once and try the popular items but it’s not a must visit.
