Beijing Duck House

"This "duck house" is no new kid on the block. In fact, it's been a local fixture for a while now, and this is perhaps in large part due to its well-known Chinese classics. Donning a clean space imbued with splashes of red and gold, wood carvings, and dark wood furniture, there is nothing on the menu that pays particular homage to Beijing. However, the eponymous duck specialty is prepared impeccably and deserves every bit of praise. Presented tableside by a well-suited server, the glistening bird boasts a crisp, fragrant, and succulent skin. It is then carved with unflinching precision and presented with ultra-thin pancakes for wrapping.Vegetables, like Napa cabbage with vinegar, chunky duck sauce, and other accompanying sides complete this decadent meal." - Michelin Inspector

This place deserves more than 5 stars. I’ve been ordering from here since the pandemic and the quality has only gotten better. Peking duck is delicious and I genuinely believe they have the best Peking duck on the California coast.

Google
First thing first… we tried to order the 6-7 set menu dinner which supposed to give 1.5 Peking Duck, but they said it’s either 1 or 2. I felt we got ripped off because it's on the menu but they wouldn't honor it for whatever reason. 土豆 - is a local dish. Vinegar stir fry potatoes. It's ok. Acquired taste. 酸菜粉絲 - Actually not bad, sour but I enjoyed it. 大盤雞 - My favorite dish. The chicken and potatoes was flavorful. The noodle was too soggy but taste good with the sauce. Peking duck - It's actually very good. Some of the skins were so crunchy it almost melt in your mouth but they're are other pieces more tough and the meat is a bit overcooked. Sweet and sour pork - the batter was crunchy when it first came out. Then get soggy. It's not bad. Kung Pao chicken - Good flavor, not bad. Tofu - pretty plain. Sauce on the salty side. I've to say I was disappointed when they couldn't give us the 1.5 duck. I assume they have a legitimate reason. However, after a few dishes, I was pretty satisfied for the food is pretty good. It's a Peking home style cooking. One interesting aspect... No tips required.

A short video to share with you all. https://youtu.be/a1koJ7VsB58?si=PFePTTGhOVtUqw6N A Michelin recommended restaurant. Beijing duck must be ordered in advance. Very salty food. Pancake is oily. There’s surprising egg shell in the mushu pork. The environment is good. Service is also good with delivery by robots. No tips is required.

For our wedding anniversary, I was craving for Peking duck with crepes instead of baos. I believe this is the only location around South Bay that offers just that. The whole restaurant name is in Chinese so I wasn’t sure if I was at the right place lol. There are 2 smaller and faded signs with the English name, but we couldn’t see it until we walked closer to the restaurant. I called to make a same day reservation for the duck in the afternoon for dinner so they will have time to prepare. I think it is preferred to call ahead to let the restaurant know the amount of Peking duck you’re planning to order. The place itself is huge. When we walked in, we were expecting a pretty lively atmosphere but we were the only other party there. Right when we walked in, we were greeted by a woman who I’m thinking is the owner or at least a manager there. At the get-go, she told us there will be no tipping necessary because food is served by a robot. So that was cool and I appreciate the business being upfront. Everything is ordered digitally with a QR code. The little robot server’s voice is hilarious when it says “bye-ee” like a little kid, that’s cute. Okay now to the food. We ordered 1 duck for 2 people. It was enough for the both of us to be satisfied and not uncomfortably full. The leftover duck bones were made into a soup. Our total with taxes came out to be around $87 dollars. Not the cheapest, but as expected for the Bay Area in general. The duck was good and juicy and the skin was crispy. Just wish the duck pieces themselves were thicker, they were quite thin. I’ve also had crispier skin at other places, but the crispy level wasn’t bad. The consistency of the crepe is perfect! Nice thinness, and it wasn’t fragile where it would rip during the rolling process. The little sauce and sides compliment the duck very well (it does cost extra if you’d like more of the sides). The duck, the sauce, cucumber, and onion slices combo is *chef’s kiss*. Definitely hit the craving. The soup was light and clean, which I personally enjoy very much. My husband isn’t a big soup person and he enjoyed it just as much and had multiple servings. Bottom line: 3.9/5, if the duck meat could be thicker and skin a bit crispier, it would be better. Overall good food and experience. (IG: nokrapreviews 😎)

Since it's going to be a dragon year, I thought to celebrate it in the traditional way. Reservation highly recommended. I came here with my friend and ordered on the phone and a robot came and delivered the food for us on our table. Fully automated experience was interesting. The robot in a very cute, speaking in kids voice in Mandarin. The atmosphere is very traditional northern Chinese. It was nice, not too crowded at least when we reached here at noon. Since everything is managed by a robot you don't have to give any tips . Though if you need anything there are people who will come to you. I really enjoyed the authentic peking duck, with spring onion, cucumber and sweet bean sauce with thin crepes rolled around the fillings - the whole duck comes in two plates, condiments and soup. 12 pieces of crepes which isn't going to be enough so we ordered another plate. Then napa cabbage with vinegar, duck soup, little lamb skewers, and sweet bread for dessert. While we were dining they served soup dumplings on the house, which was a very nice gesture. Overall, I enjoyed the whole experience. You got to know the dishes and for that you need to have a friend who is actually from China. It is an expensive one if you order peking duck. My first time here and would love to try their other dishes too.

Food is delish!!! You order via QR code & food comes quite quickly. You can tell noodles are homemade & food is so savory! Have comes 3-4x already and it’s been great every time.

Google
If you go for duck, it's going to cost you $79.99 for a whole duck in 2 plates, condiments and soup. For us the duck portion was small, despite the skin was fried crispy. 12 pieces of crepes isn't going to be enough. Another order of that costs $8 ($7 online). Duck sauce costs another $5 ($4 online). Soup was fine as expected. Environment was nice and not crowded on weekdays. No tip required as robot took care of the serving.

Google
The Peking duck is on spot. They give you 12 pancake but really it’s not enough to cover all the meat and crispy skin they give you. It’s very good but you have to order ahead. Other thing to get is the lychee shrimp. Great flavor and cook perfectly. Ordering is easy too cause all on your phone and a robot deliver it.

Yelp
This place is seriously underrated. As someone born and raised in Beijing, I have to say this is the best Peking Duck I've had in the United States! The cherry on top is that they service your food with robots and there is NO TIPS! Some reviews complained about the small portion of sauce and sides. I agree it's small, but anyone who's familiar with Peking Duck knows that you're not going to be set with just one order of the sauce and sides, no matter how big of a portion they are. I've always ordered an extra sauce + sides at any other Peking Duck restaurant and this place is no different. There are a few dishes that I'd avoid but overall most of their dishes hit the spot. Especially Kung-Pao Chicken. I've never had such great Kung-Pao Chicken in the United States. It's exactly like the ones served at the restaurant in front of your house in Beijing.

Yelp
Duck duck...house! My first impression of this place was not positive. I went in on a random weekday evening and the place was a ghost town. The dishes that I got were: lamb skewers, beef pancake roll thing, beef bun, and the Old Beijing Braised Noodle. To be frank, I wasn't impressed by any of these things, and I can't say I enjoyed the flavor profile of the noodle dish. After reflecting on the quality of the meal, I realized I went to Beijing Duck House and did not order any duck. Leaving a distasteful review would be like going to a pizza place, not ordering any pizza, and then criticizing the place for the non-pizza offerings. After coming back for a second time to get the duck (you have to call in 2+ hours in advance for this!!), I was delightfully surprised by the quality of the roast duck. It was excellent, and affordable considering bay area prices and the quantity of duck received! The "cold jelly noodles" were nice as well. My only qualm is that the side dishes/sauce for the duck ran out well short of the meal, and they charge extra for ordering more sides :(. Ah well. Great duck!!

Yelp
Amazing quality, taste and flavor! We were first introduced to this place on Chinese new year several years ago because our friends could not pick it up in time. We were gifted the meal and it was delicious! Since then, every time we have ordered the Peking duck with soup, the consistency in crispy skin, tender juicy meat and fresh crepes have been met with joy from the entire family. Their lamb skewers and cumin lamb was also a family favorite. Highly recommend! Note: if you are ordering a Peking duck at 5pm for same day, you will need to wait until 6pm for pickup. It's worth the wait!

Yelp
As good as it DUCKing gets in the bay area. The Peking Duck is 4 stars on its own. If it wasnt for the ridiculous charges on EVERY single thing and limited wraps, it would have EASILY been a 4 star. .:: FOOD ::. Beijing Roast Duck $79.99: I'm gonna say this once, the duck is literally Asia quality but here in the bay. Most places in bay area, the duck skin is NOT crispy, in fact, its usually soggier than wet underwear. But HERE, its SO crispy, there's an actual crunch to it. It comes with two plates. Fed all 5 of us. I really wish it came with more wraps, the ratio was pretty off with the amount of meat and the amount of people. Each person only got 2 wraps. There was a lot of meat left. Beef (with fat) Skewers $6.99 (3pc): I personally really liked it, chinese style skewers, so dry rub. Not spicy at all like most chinese skewers. Pork Belly $6.99 (3pc): A bit more dry personally to me. My table all thought the beef was more dry but pork was more moist, but I was opposite. Green Beans & Eggplant $17.99: not too bad, right amount of sauce. The usual side character energy for veggies haha. Garlic Scallop $4.99: My absolute fav at any chinese restaurant. FILLED with garlic. Duck Sauce $5: I cannot believe they charge for sauce and fricken cucumbers. No way .:: Service / Ambiance / Parking ::. The owner was nice to us. We got the duck as soon as we seated. Food came in a timely manner. I dont know if you checked the menu, but for their hot pot, they charge u for GAS CANS. OMG. Heck, whats next, charge for utensils?? The place is VERY nice though, definitely transports you to Beijing. Parking was fairly easy as it was located in a plaza.

Yelp
Call ahead (2 hours) to pre-order the Peking duck. Skin was crispy. Many people come here to eat the Peking duck. The rest of the food was yummy too. Not completely automated system but one scan QR code on the table to order. Robot deliveries the food, bowls/plates, and drinks. Leftover boxes near the cashier's counter. Pay at the counter too. No tipping on the bill. However, I felt that we had good service. The waitress/cashier were helpful and answered all our questions/requests.

Yelp
I called in to ordered a whole duck, along with duck bone and duck soup, from Beijing Duck House in preparation for Chinese New Year a week ahead. When I went to pick up my order today, everything was prepared exactly as I had requested a week ago. The duck surpassed my expectations, the meat was flavorful, the skin was wonderfully crispy, and although the wrap portion was limited to 12, I had order an extra set because I know one set won't be enough to finish with duck meat. The duck soup and duck bone were equally delightful, and the portions were so generous that we ended up with leftovers. I am already looking forward to dining in next time to fully experience the ambiance and flavors of Beijing Duck House. Highly recommended for anyone craving authentic Beijing duck!

Yelp
My husband is Beijing duck lover and we came to this place for over 20 times. The previous experience are ok and had a terrible experience yesterday. They barely providing services since robots will bring dishes to you but only "private room". It is our 1st time to try this "private room" yesterday. It is not one room one table but eight tables are sharing one big room. The experience is also terrible. Staff just brought dishes but no any service at all. We are out of water for a while but nobody came and checked?? In addition, when my friend made the reservation, restaurant mentioned we need to spend min $450 but not mentioning ridiculous "service charge" since this restaurant market itself as a no-tipping establishment while enforcing a mandatory 15% service fee calculated after taxes? Staff quietly added 15% on our bill but no explanation and I waited for 15 mins to get answer "it is 15% service fee" and we have to pay for it???? The price of roasted Beijing duck is reasonable and most of the time it is tasting good. 5 star for the duck part! However, the default set only provides 12 pancake and little cucumber/scallion/source. 99% of times, you have to order more by paying extra money: Pancake $8 Scallion/cucumber/source $5 4 star for the grilled skewers 2 star for the dishes since too salty 1 star for the service part In general, I only recommend Peking duck set and some grilled skewers if you want to try this restaurant! Please do not expect any service!!!

Yelp
Beijing duck house is a bit empty. I was wondering why it use to be bib gourmet and then it was no longer listed, but as it went there, it checked out. Service is fast, as they use a e-server. The lamb used had a bit of sinew and the flavor was nice. The pork was really good, as well as the beef burrito, though the beef burrito was a bit lacking in sauce. The noodle was the biggest miss as it was there was no focal point in the dish

Yelp
One of my favorite restaurants for lamb skewers. Definitely go for the bigger lamb skewers, they are so good, tender, and flavorful. The a choy is my favorite vegetable dish, the sauce is delicious! My other favorite dish is the scallop with garlic and rice noodles. So much flavor! The robots that bring the food are also so cute!

Yelp
Pretty standard peking duck with thin wraps and pork belly with buns. Convenient location and have private rooms for larger parties, great for family gatherings! Servers are responsive and gave good recommendations

Yelp
When I came to Beijing Duck House, I realized that I had already been here before - back when it was under a different name and specialized in skewers. It would appear that most of the interior remains unchanged and they still use the fun robots that zip around serving food. This time around, however, they serve Beijing Duck along with all the accompaniments - the only catch being that you need to call ahead at least two hours so they can prepare. I would highly recommend bringing a group to help finish the duck but they do offer different sizes based on how many people you are feeding. I personally quite liked the duck, the skin was particularly crispy and sweet - pairing well with the wrapper, hoisin sauce, and scallions. They even cook the meat and bones up after in a comforting soup so nothing is wasted! Like before, they still serve their yummy skewers so make sure you order those as well to go with the duck. Bring your friends and come check Beijing Duck House out!

Yelp
Bottom line: They brought out our second duck at the end of the meal when everyone was done eating. BTW each duck was $79.99. Stories: Worst service ever, our server was an old man, he was probably the manager or owner. We asked for recommendations, he was like, no, I don't know what you liked, we then asked what's popular at the restaurant and he said the same thing and wouldn't tell us, so awkward! We ordered 2 peking ducks ($79.99 x 2) plus other dishes, the first duck was split into 2 plates and came at the beginning of the meal, then other dishes fish, pork, veggies all came out, we thought the 2 plates of ducks were 2 orders so we just kept eating. And at the end of the meal, when everyone was full, they took out another duck in 2 plates!!!!! So that was the second order of duck, why the hell would they bring out a duck at the end of a meal like it was a dessert? Ultra stingy on the scallions, cucumbers, hoisin sauce for the $80 duck! For a $80 duck, they give you like one ounce of hoisin sauce, 2 bites of scallions cucumbers. They charge you $4 for each extra hoisin sauce, it's cheap stuff from the grocery why were they doing that?!? BTW I got a pic of these buns we had, we were laughing and called them "air buns". Don't order it, the meat in it was really gross, it was so bad I couldn't eat it and it went to waste, sad! The food was mediocre, and the worst service ever to a point the meal was ruined, no I will never go there again! $700 lunch for 11 people.

Yelp
Owner was very sweet. Didn't accept tips even though we has good service. Soup and duck were very tasty. Restaurant was stylishly decorated and food came out fast. For english speakers the reservation process could be easier

Yelp
I haven't had a good Peking duck for a while. The duck from this place amazed me! It came with a lot of crispy skin and less meat(It's the best part) and the duck soup is free if you order a whole duck. The duck soup was rich and not overly salted !! We also ordered some bbq skewers but they were just ok. I recommend to get a duck and order some traditional Beijing cuisines! P.S. the owner is a Beijing grandpa and he's super warm and friendly

Brian L.

Yelp
I can see why this place has the ratings it does. Not authentic enough for some people from the mainland, but too authentic for those who identify better with Panda Express or the sweet Shanghai and HK style stuff that saturates California. The duck isn't great value price wise but is pretty tasty. If you're sensitive to salt I'd combine less duck per wrap. The staff is nice and a robot serves most the food. For those who can't read Chinese, the bottom of the robots screen is for when you're done picking stuff off it. There's no rush as some other comments indicate. I will say, if you're a party of 4+, the tables are a smidge small. And as others say, it's best to order the duck with a reservation ahead of time 2+ hours). Some comments talk about a man not speaking English but I only met the female staff who spoke it just fine so YMMV. Oh they have skewers on the menu too and they aren't bad at all.

Yelp
The Beijing Duck House moved to a new larger location next to their original location and it finally opened back up again recently. Their new restaurant is beautiful! The staff do NOT speak any English (only Chinese) so be prepared for this. The food came out to us on little robots! They were very cute and it was honestly so Bay Area, however the robot waiters come and go quickly so do not stall when grabbing your plates from it. The duck was absolutely incredible. Perfect texture and crispy skin. The mapo tofu is always a must for me and it did not let me down-- it was insanely good. Scallion pancakes are always a must for me when dining with groups and it was perfect. My favorite dish was actually a stew with loads of cabbage and tofu-- not exactly sure what the name of the dish was but it was flavorful and so satisfying. I look forward to coming back here!!

Yelp
Points i considered main points: - food is expensive but small portions - traditional/popular/common(??) dishes miss the mark taste-wise - no service - slow service(your dish is cold before the next arrives service) We came here before and food was good but it seems like the chef was switched so I strongly advise coming here now 1. Food duck: alright- had better duck soup: lacks flavor- literally tastes like water or chicken stock from costco but duck version duck condiments: $5 DOLLARS PER DISH?!? for 7 small strands of cucumber and a couple pinches of green onions $8 DOLLARS FOR THE WRAP??!? the wrap(you put the duck in it) is really thick- which is bad for this dish cilantro+ pork intestine: sour(??), really hard to chew mu xiu meat: uhm? no mu er' or eggs. Tastes really bland.. fish: we don't know yet still waiting for it which brings me to my next point: 2. Service despite food tasting premade(in a bad way), service is super slow- if we can consider it service a robot brings the food but the robot is kinda crusty and it bumps into your table the waiters don't check on you. 3. Ambiance chaotic dirty total bill: $143

Yelp
Came here for Chinese new year dinner because we were craving perking duck. This used to be the place for perking duck and always so full, you had to order week in advance and still wait in line. How the pandemic had changed things! Maybe it was because it was 49ers playoff game as well, but the place was pretty empty when we got there. We did reserve the duck and table before hand, and they put us in a private room which was cool. The duck was well done and as good as before, though they no longer carve it table side. They also trim down the menu quite a bit. Most other dishes were solid as well. The service had went from standard ho hum to top notch, so that's a plus! Extra star for that!
google avatar

Yelp
Service- there's barely any human service. A robot comes around and brings the dishes out on the Trey. They ask for no tip tho! Food- not good. Everything was extremely salty. Portion was average, but small for the price. We ordered duck, but they only serve it 2 ways, some places do it 3 ways. The side of pancake/cucumber/scallion/hoisin sauce was extremely small, and costs extra to get more. Price- expensive for what it is.
google avatar

Jacob S.

Yelp
The place itself looks promising as a Chinese restaurant. Not touristy at all... Barely had an English menu, honestly, which again, for me, is a good sign. Service was good, but the food was great. The main thing to go for is the Peking duck which wasn't the best I've had, but really good and properly executed. The skin was crispy and the meat was very juicy and tender. All the traditional condiments were served, julienned cucumber and spring onion, with thin delicious pancakes. Highly recommended.
google avatar

Han T.

Yelp
If you want the duck, you will have to call 2 hours ahead of time! Otherwise, you can sit and wait. Food is good, no tip needed since they have a robot server.

Yelp
Beijing Duck House: Robot waiter. No human waiter or waitress. The food was flavorless. I will not return. While the robot waiter was a cute idea, I definitely did NOT like it. I prefer human interaction. The customer accesses the menu and orders food and drinks via QR code. If the customer did not bring a cell phone or her cell is not working, then, as far as I can tell, a customer cannot dine at Beijing Duck House. The customer can order via cell phone either in English or Chinese. The robot brings the food and drink speaking the same language the customer used to order. The worst part is that I chose the sauteed lamb with greens and it was absolutely flavorless. Yuk. The quality of the lamb and the tenderness were fine; just bland. The blandness was a huge disappointment. As I entered, a gentleman greeted me from afar, then walked to my table. I asked how he liked the new facility. He replied: "No English" and that was disappointing. Later he came by and asked: "OK?," but since he does not speak English I did not tell him that the lamb dish was bland. Interestingly, online Michelin "recommends" Beijing Duck House, but does NOT give it any stars. So that makes me question Michelin's recommendations, that is, I will not trust the "recommendations" but I had a good experience at a Michelin-rated 1* restaurant. The restaurant did not have many customers for lunch. There is plenty of free street level parking in the strip mall.

Yelp
09/2023 - I know they don't read google reviews because they haven't changed anything, so am putting this on Yelp now. 02/2023 - Everyone in my family loves duck, so we went back again (visit #5) this week for a b'day. Lo and behold, they don't leave the dirty foil on the trays the whole time. Seems they change it now and then. We brought our own BIG white napkins and more hoisin again. Gotta say, though, that the rude owner, the man, COULD try to understand a few words of English--like "string beans"? 07/2023 - We went back last weekend because the birthday son wanted duck. They have done something different to the skin: it looks like they took it off the duck, deep fried it, sliced it and laid it back on top of the sliced meat. They must have fried it in a bland oil, not duck fat because it was totally lacking duck flavor. The meat of the duck was still delicious but all of my previous objections are still the same. Guess they don't look at Google reviews. Also, this time it was so noisy that it was unpleasant. 08/2023 -We keep going back because of grandkids' birthday wishes for "robot duck". I laid down the law this time: told everyone this was THE LAST TIME. Besides the fact that all the prices have all gone up (I can buy 2-3 jars of Hoisin Sauce for the price they charge for one refill order) not one of my earliest suggestions has been implemented: the foil on the robot's tray was caked with previous orders' sauce), the flavorless oil-deep-fried-skin is the deal breaker.

Yelp
This place has really gone downhill. Most of our food was extremely salty. Sometimes the salt is not even distributed throughout the dish properly so you get a mouthful of salt. We had a large party so we ordered a lot of dishes. You would think oh, maybe a dish or two here and there is too salty but all of it is the same problem. Peking duck came out cold even though it is so expensive and there was not much meat. We laughed when the lamb and beef skewers came out because the meat looked thinner than the stick it was on. Expected better food and service but thoroughly disappointed...

Yelp
The food here is amazing. I went for the duck, but didn't realize you need to call 2 hours ahead. Although I was disappointed at first, I was blown away in the end. I have my usual spots for Chinese delivery, but I will make the trip here to dine. I've got experience in Asian cuisine and this is authentic. If you don't like authentic, maybe stick with whatever else you like. There was even lily buds in the hot and sour soup. The tripe with cilantro, incredible. Fresh veggies, cumin lamb and pork with Beijing sauce was amazing. Can't wait to come back for the duck.

Yelp
4.5 STARS COVID-19 TAKEOUT Sheesh, talk about a highly coveted duck. It took 31 calls over 2 days to reach a live person. THIRTY ONE. At one point, I thought they blocked my number so I had to block mine to get through. I felt like a stage 11 clinger... Like cray cray Emily Valentine calling Brandon Walsh. Then, I figured out why....their hours are wrong on Yelp and on their website (also understaffed). During COVID, Beijing Duck House closes at 7:30 pm, not 9 pm (per posted menu outside). Takeout only. No delivery. As the restaurant name indicates, you come here for the Peking Duck. You can't come here and not order the duck. It's like going to House of Prime Rib and not ordering prime rib. The duck does require pre-order, minimum several hours ahead of time with your chosen time-slot (30 minute increments). 1st time-slot at lunch: 11:30 am and 1st time-slot at dinner: 5:30 pm. I suggest calling the day before to secure one. Pre-order over the phone or online (Chinese only). Speaking Mandarin helps but the owner does speak English. C O V I D - 1 9 S A F E T Y P R E C A U T I O N S * Staff wore masks properly. * Gloves are worn. * Table blocking entrance with plexi-glass barrier. * Hand sanitizer available. F O O D * Peking Duck ($49.99) + $6 extra pancakes: https://bit.ly/3buxrqU ***Includes soup (two 32 ounce containers), pancakes, sliced cucumbers+scallions, and hoisin sauce. Even though it was takeout, the duck was delicious and the skin maintained its crispness (enjoyed it within 20 minutes). The duck is slowly roasted until most of the fat has rendered, making the meat soft and tender, while the shiny skin is rich and crispy. Not salty which is my preference. We killed the entire duck between two people. A lot of the pancakes were glued together (during transport) and tore while trying to separate them so I suggest ordering extra. Very little cucumber and scallions was provided, there was only enough for 1 person. The hoisin sauce (chinese bbq sauce) was sweet and salty but tasted a tad different than the norm, perhaps there was fermented beans in it? LOVED the soup...hot, comforting, milky, and collagen-rich. It's like a light Chinese tonkotsu but made with duck bones, tofu, and cabbage. We used the extra container of soup for hot pot. Or, you can throw some cooked noodles into it, and you have another quick and easy meal. One of my gripes is the nickel and diming. I understand charging for extra pancakes but another $3 for cucumbers, scallions, and hoisin sauce?! The amount of condiments is around 25 cents worth so I hope the owner considers bundling this along with the extra pancakes. S E R V I C E Friendly and prompt. My order was ready at my chosen time-slot. I paid in cash and the owner said, I overpaid. I told her it was tip and she tried to return the money to me. I refused so she provided complimentary steamed buns with my order. I appreciate her honesty and it was such a kind gesture. Overall, delicious Peking Duck and soup. Would def order again. 4.5 stars rounded up for the great service.

Yelp
Food was very authentic and fresh. Delicious actually. The service was great, very helpful with recommendations. Highly recommended!!

Yelp
Beijing duck needs 24 hours pre order serve by robot , therefore no tip require! Comes with soup + 12 thin pancakes, and 1 set condiment(cucumber, scallion n hoisin sauce). Additional pancakes 8.00, another set of condiments 5.00. Duck skin crispy & meat not too dry. Plenty food just for 2 persons , only complain - the condiment is way too small for 12 pancakes !

Yelp
My favor Beijing duck place in Bay Area! The duck skin is thin and authentic. They remodeled and have bbq also. It is nice idea they use robots to serve. No tips required and I don't understand those people complain about the service did they gave tips? Plus I think the owner and people work there are very friendly. We are 2 people here order a duck and she told me that is enough, and come back to ask me if food is ok. Will come back again and again.

Yelp
It's been a few years since we are back to Beijing Duck House for authentic Beijing duck experience. This by far is the most authentic one in the Bay Area, very close to the ones we had in Beijing, from the skins to the thin wraps and the side dishes. Yes it's on the more pricey side but you also get high quality. Many people complained about their service, I have to say their service improved A-LOT this time we went (compared to pre-pandemic), staffs are super friendly and accommodating. We were a party of 8 and they gave us one of their room in the back for privacy. Staffs came over very 5-10 mins to check on us and offer to refill extra duck soup once they saw we emptied our bowls. I will definitely come back next time I crave for BJ ducks!

Yelp
Very tasty duck, bbq items, the grilled eggplant with garlic is made to perfection! Need to come back try more things. The price is also very reasonable comparing to other restaurants.

Yelp
FYI, Beijing Duck House is renovating the kitchen and would be reopened on July 1st. ------- Just heard that when trying to order pick up.

Yelp
Called Saturday afternoon and was able to preorder a Peking duck for pick up. By the time we called, the earliest pick time available was 7pm. Probably best to order one day ahead so you get the time slot for pick up that you desire. Parking was easy and food was ready by ~705-710 for a 7pm pick up so they're punctual for an Asian place (haha). Portions were a bit on the smaller side. We had to order double the amount of the pancake/tortilla wraps and cut up our own cucumbers and scallions at home as they give you enough dressings for only 1-2 people. My fiancé is super picky about Peking duck and he really enjoyed this place. He felt the wraps were perfectly thin and soft and there were plenty of crispy fatty duck skin pieces. Out of all the spots in the Bay Area he finds this place most akin to what he was served in Beijing on his business trip. We brought home the duck which came with two large containers of soup, threw the soup in the microwave and the duck in the oven for a few minutes to rejuvenate that crisp. The duck meat was fatty juicy and flavorful! His traditional Chinese parents also enjoyed the duck. It was ~$70 for 4 people who don't eat very much. I'd recommend getting 2 ducks for families of big eaters. I'm sure it's even better as dine in so hopefully we can give them a shot when they open up again for indoor dining. By the way, you're able to order through q menu on their website and although it says pay in cash at restaurant they do accept credit card!

Yelp
SUPER RUDE, called to order.. asked in Chinese if they have duck, "we're sold out CLICK" hung up on me. Called back in case the line was disconnected.. asked in English, did you just hang up on me? do you have duck? "no more CLICK" hung up. Maybe their business is so good they don't care, but that's straight unacceptable. Won't be eating here ever, save your frustration.

Yelp
food is ok. a few dishes are close to what Beijing food should be. But the owner is not honest and trustful.

Yelp
The best Peking duck in the Bay Area, hands down. (Sorry, Great China). I usually order an extra side of wrappers and sauce bc there is a lot of duck! Each duck comfortably feeds four, especially if you pair with another side dish or two. Soup is included or pay a little extra to substitute for salt and pepper duck bone. Call ahead 1 day to order the duck, or a week in advance for holidays like thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years, Chinese New Years etc. It's still good as takeout, 30-60min out from pick up.

Yelp
This is the WORST SERVICE FOR THE WORST RESTAURANT EVER!!! Us 5 people paid $199 for dinner. The manager (owner) with a RUDE ATTITUDE The Robot came out with foods on the foil trays( not change by each order). We have video if anyone want to see. It's so disgusting!! I understand it's difficult and complicated for any restaurants in this COVID time, but this is UNACCEPTABLE. *The food: (ONE )-NO STAR *The service: (ONE)-NO STAR *The cleanliness: (ONE)-NO STAR (I have to give them ONE STAR because I have no other choice.) I usually don't write review but I don't want anyone have to have my experience!! A very expensive and unpleasant dinner. It's totally OVERHYPED & OVERPRICED ! After all: I won't come back again.

Yelp
My recent visit was a complete let-down. We came here because I saw this restaurant on a list of highly ranked Beijing restaurants in the Bay Area. As a Beijing native, I would always try to get Peking duck and authentic Beijing dishes whenever I can. We came here around 8pm and was told we could not order the duck without calling in advance. We both were looking forward to the duck so we were extremely disappointed. Despite the rocky start, we still decided to stay and order kungpao chicken and the shredded pork with Beijing sauce to share. The shredded pork with Beijing sauce (京酱肉丝) is a very well known Beijing staple and one of my favorite dishes growing up. It comes with very thin pancakes and green onion and you are supposed to roll the pork and green onion in the pancake and eat it like a burrito. But the dish we got here was lack of flavor and mediocre at best. The kungpao chicken was a little better but not much. I guess I will have to wait until I visit Beijing to get delicious Beijing cuisine! Doubt I'd return.

Yelp
The first and last time I had peking duck served with a thin style pancake was in Virginia and it was amazinnnnng. I haven't been able to find a similar place in until I came across Beijing Duck House and was really looking forward to it. Peking Duck orders have to be pre-ordered ahead of time. I think it depends if it's a busy weekend or not. I called on Saturday to see if I could get an order that evening but they were all sold out until Monday, so I reserved one for pick up then. For about $55, the Peking Duck order came with roasted peking duck, about 20 pancakes, condiments such as scallions, cucumbers, plum sauce, and two containers of duck soup. The duck itself was small and the skin was extremely oily with fatty layers underneath. The meat was very dry and very minimal. Did we get a lean duck or something? Even the flavor on the duck was lacking. The soup that came with the meal was a very bland "tonkotsu" style broth with cabbage, tofu, and duck bones. The whole meal was very underwhelming which is a bummer. Maybe it's a different experience in person and the ducks are plumper but I can't say this was worth the price.

Yelp
I've been eyeing this place for quite a bit and finally decided to go here on a Saturday. I wasn't sure if reservation was necessary and reading my Yelper friend's review, I knew I had to call. I learned that it is actually best to call ahead of time for seats availability and of course for the duck to be ready the moment you arrive. We made the call around 11AM for a 1PM reservation. Due to rain and weather conditions, we were running 10-15 minutes behind. As a courtesy, I called to inform the situation. The restaurant gave the green light to depart without any further notice and so duck for lunch it is still. Upon arrival, I gave the hostess my reserved name and he told me to write down my name and wait. I don't mind writing my name and wait a little since we're running behind. However, writing my name under six other families and come to find out it'll be another 30 minutes is a NO. Had they told me over the phone about the 30 minutes wait after another six tables, I would've told them to take my name off the reservation. When both my husband and I expressed the situation to the hostess, he then told us that the restaurant made a mistake on their end, apologized, and recommended that we should wait for just a few moment. Kuddos for them recognizing the issue/misunderstanding and came through without the long wait. Once seated, we were offered tea and menus. Our waiter was helpful making suggestions for other dishes to complement our duck. The duck itself did not took too long to come out since we called in advance. Then other dishes (Green Beans with Chili Sauce and Sliced Fish in Chili Sauce) came out not too long after that either. The Peking Duck order came with pancakes, scallions, cucumber, hoisin sauce, and duck soup. It is brought to the table by the butcher as a whole duck and he'll slowly present his cutting craft in front of you. Very cool to watch. We came for the Peking Duck so let's talk about the duck! Got to love the crispy skin. The skin was so oh yummy. The fat in between the meat and skin melts in your mouth. The meat was buttery, tender, and juicy. I noticed what sets the duck at Peking Duck house from the Peking Duck I get from from stores was that it tasted less salty. I can definitely taste more flavor in the duck rather than salt and spices. Definitely thumbs up for that. Overall, three and half stars. A little language barrier depending who is helping you. Beautiful decor all over the restaurant. You get a feel you're dining at little town in China. Good food. Good service. Definitely worth it if you're craving for Peking Duck.

Yelp
Authenticity inside and out. Beijing Duck House is known...well... for their Beijing Duck, and it's fantastic. They roll out the red carpet to push a cart over just to slowly and gently slice delicate, shimmering slices of duck onto their custom duck plate. It's real theatrical, you'll be salivating from your eyes, and eventually foaming from your mouth. It comes with the traditional side of crepes and condiments (cucumbers, hoisin sauce, and green onion). With the duck bones, they ask if you'd like to be used in a soup they serve alongside the duck. I recommend. This combination is wonderful, the lightness of the crepe, sauce, and greens combined with the crispy fatty duck is mesmerizing to the tastebuds. Also, if you do come for this particular dish, it is advised that you order an hour ahead of time on the phone. Enjoy!

Yelp
The quality is fine but the portion is quite small for the price. We ordered a peking duck ($80) that came with two plates and a veggie dish. Each duck plate covered with crispy skins and a few sliced duck meat. I wasn't sure where the rest of duck went. The waitress asked if we want the duck soup, of course why not? Did not quite expect the soup either - one or two of duck bones and the same amount of tofu, no veggi - feel like some left over in one big pot. Where was my whole duck carcass? Since they used robot to deliver food, no tip was needed. My family said it's likely included in the price. Dinning inside was a bit noisy but not too loud. I felt scammed and won't be back.

Yelp
Best Peking Duck in the the entire Bay Area! Their Take-Out is as close to eating in as we can get now, and they do an excellent job packing it all up to-go. Also, V safe Covid Precautions in place. The duck is prepared so that the fat is absorbed into the juicy meat, leaving only a gorgeous crispy skin and no fat to scrape away. The Plum Sauce is a perfect balance of smooth fruit and savory, and not that grainy sugary mess some other places use. The wrappers are perfectly translucent and tender, but still managed to hold together all the deliciousness you can pack in there. Request double orders of wrappers, sauce and cuke/scallions. Sometimes there's a small additional charge, and sometimes not. Still worth it. Always order a side of Spicy Stir-Fried Eggplant/Gr Beans. And never, ever, be late picking up your order!

Yelp
Came here and they ran out of duck! Apparently if you come at 1pm on a weekend, that's primetime for them to run out of duck...ugh Settled for cumin lamb, veggies, cauliflower, and fish fragrant pork (yu xiang rou si). They would have been all good complementing dishes to a star item (DUCK!!!). The yu xiang rou si was actually amazing I thought. It was very tender, a bit salty, but given the wraps, it is just perfect. It's like they realized how peking duck works as a wrap, and then applied it to pork. I would definitely come back here for the duck and I'm sure it would be an even better meal.

Yelp
Came here for a dinner with family after hearing that this place is top-ranked in the bay as authentic Peking duck. You have to call 2 days in advance to reserve the duck. I see a lot of patrons on this page were disappointed to show up on the day and not get to have duck :/ We ordered a sauteed da dou miao with garlic dish and a white fish with black fungus to start. The dishes were nicely made and did not feel too oily. Then they came to cut up the duck next to our table, which was a fun show (yes, I took a video!). The duck skin was some of the crispiest that I have ever had. The duck also was kind of small and I was expecting to have something larger. The duck is server with sliced scallions and hoisin sauce as traditional. It was also served with thin pancakes instead of buns.... maybe this is traditional but i WAY prefer the buns I usually get a chinese restaurants instead. The duck also comes with a duck-based soup. I was pretty unimpressed by this dish. It's very light and not oily, but that is where my compliments end. The actual soup is very sparse with veggies, duck meat, tofu, and other finishings. You can get it refilled after you finish it, but it basically comes out as just broth with nothing inside of it. Kind of a sad soup to be honest. Had a much better duck 3-ways course at other restaurants. Here we get duck 2-ways (sliced duck, and duck soup). Debating between 3 and 4 stars and would like to give 3.5 because the soup was so unimpressive. But I'll go with 4 because the actual roasted duck was delicious! Left a bit hungry but nearby there are a bunch of dessert places. Oh lastly i've never seen such a large serving of tea before. Biggest pot I have ever seen. Maybe so they don't have to refill?

Yelp
Beijing meat-filled pancake (Jingdong rou bing) is delicious. I bought a pack of frozen ones and brought them home, frying them in a little oil over low heat until they were golden brown on both sides. Strongly recommend!

Yelp
3.5 stars as I'm ok with it but hubby gave it a thumb down. Didn't eat duck as it needs pre-order. We started with 2 Beijing local snacks 驴打滚 and 黄豆糕。 I like it, not overly sweet. Then the main dishes came as that's where hubby found it disappointing particularly in the spare ribs soup where the spare ribs were not properly chopped with lots of small bones and not much meat. The rest of the dishes were a bit tasteless. Service was not too bad and we see customers came even around late 8pm.
