All the Latest Restaurant Closures Around the Twin Cities | Eater Twin Cities

"I saw that West St. Paul’s Beirut Restaurant, a local staple for Lebanese fare for more than 40 years, will close in September; owners John and Madelaine Khoury recounted that John’s parents founded the restaurant in 1983 after leaving Lebanon, and they plan to open a new location in Rosemount focused on fast-casual service, catering, ready-made dishes, and takeout." - Justine Jones

My favorite Lebanese takeaway. I used to love their restaurant in West Saint Paul, and I now drive the extra 20 minutes to Rosemount simply because I love the food so much. And the Khoury Family. This is a 41-year old family-owned business. Today I chose the beef-lamb kofta plate, while my daughter opted for the Habibi shawarma wrap. We also grabbed the 3-piece baklava and Shaiybiyet, my favorite Lebanese dessert. Alas, we were so hungry, we wolfed down all the food before I could click photos. But hey, here’s a picture of me with my friend John Khoury.

We enjoyed a delicious dinner with great flavors, textures and colors! The salad was wonderful, the wraps flavorful and humus had a great balance. Certainly worth checking out

First time having Beirut after their move out of West St. Paul. The taste has changed. Not sure if they dialed the flavors down a bit for the gringo palettes here in the south Metro. The falafel wrap was good but was lacking enough garlic paste to give it that extra zing. The hummus was flavorless with about half a cup of oil in the bottom of the container. The bread resembled bread made at a commercial bakery minus the label of the bakery on the bag. Served up cold. The quality for the price is lacking as you will see in the photos.

Our school had the best catering experience today. John was fantastic to work with, communication was great, he was ready and waiting at the door when I picked up the order. Everything went as he said it was. I highly recommend using this restaurant for your next event! Our teachers and staff were all raving about the quality and freshness of the food. Thanks so much!

I ordered two family meals for delivery and everything was beyond amazing! The food was packed with flavor and made with the freshest ingredients. The kabobs were incredibly juicy and tender – easily some of the best we've ever had. Every item in the meals we ordered were delicious, from the gyros to the rice and tabouli salads. The staff was friendly and accommodating, even with our large order, and made sure everything was packed perfectly. This Lebanese restaurant truly delivers both quality and hospitality. Can’t wait to come back!

They have transitioned from a dining in restaurant experience to a more condensed menu but still serve some of the best Lebanese food in MN. I am very health conscious and I highly recommend this place to all like minded individuals. If the weather is hot, take out. Hopefully it can become one of your faves.

Very welcoming atmosphere. I had the shawarma wrap and fries and it was incredible! Every bite was very flavorful and the pickles are on a different level. So good!!! They also have vegan and vegetarian option that's more than a salad. Can't wait to try more food.

I really liked the food! It’s only 5 minutes away for me, and I really appreciate halal food so close! I ordered the beef kebab plate, and it was delicious! The garlic sauce was amazing, and the beef was tender and flavorful. $15 was a bit pricy for me as a student, but the food left me really satisfied and full! It was a great portion size. Will definitely be coming back on a regular basis, and will bring other Muslim friends!

Yelp
Everything's changed but the great food. Unfortunately many main dish favorites aren't there. The Villager, an eggplant dish with lots of red sauce for example. That's replaced with a fried eggplant wrap with a white sauce. I admit it was delicious. Basil had the same great falafel in a pita wrap with tahini sauce. It comes with the pickle and pickled pink vegetable. I wish there was one more of each. Mine didn't get any and would have been welcomed. Same best smooth hummus with the olive oil on top. It seemed to have flat bread, not the pita I was used to. Basil liked the peach soda then needed another and got pineapple. I got pepsi in a bottle. It's a cafe that will take some getting used to. They seem to do a large take out business. Note all the new info including the website. The restaurant info is obsolete. Looking forward to coming back after lent is over. It's in a nice strip mall where the area doesn't have a lot of food choices, so it's most welcome. Nice to see the same second generation faces.
