We love Middle-Eastern food, so it probably wasn't long after we moved to Minnesota in 1992 that we started eating at Beirut, the family-owned Lebanese restaurant that was on Robert Street until last year. The owners retired and their children opened up what I would call an annex in Rosemount.
The storefront fast casual place serves many of the favorite menu items from the old restaurant. We got the gyro plate with rice and the hummus bowl with pita.
The gyro meat was well seasoned and perfectly cooked, the rice was luscious and buttery as always, and the hummus was delicious.
Same food, same friendly family, same excellent service, just in a much smaller, less fancy venue. The only disappointment was the pita, which was served cold and left me dreaming of the warm, pillowy bread that we used to get in St. Paul.
