Decided to bring my family here on a whim as it was a first time visiting the area and the low cost . Here are my thoughts:
- Cost: If you’re on a budget like I am this resort was the low low cost of free! You can save your money for off resort activities.
- Activities: Though the beach was small and unkempt the resort was packed with senotes to let the kids swim in. Just watch out for the alligators from the long abandoned zoo. The pool was completely drained of all water and filled with debris so no swimming, but the kids loved running circles around in it.
- Food: there was no food service whatsoever as the staff was nowhere to be seen the entire time we where there, but there where plenty of seabirds, fish, and “Mexican raccoons” for us to eat when we where hungry.
- Rooms: the rooms were a little delapidated and it looked like it had not been cleaned in three years. Also the smell of sewage was permiating across the resort, which was almost unbearable at times, but my wife liked it so who am I to complain.
- Staff: we only saw one staff member the entire time we were here. He was busy pulling copper wire out of the walls and gave us a friendly wave of his machete.
All in all, this was not the best resort I’ve been to, but having the whole resort to ourselves and all the fun activities was memorable for the kids. I would recommend visiting if your on a budget and your children have basic survival skills!
