I received complimentary tickets to Bel Air Luxury Cinema on the east side of Detroit and made the trip from across town. It was about a 30-minute drive, and while it’s not my usual theater, I appreciated the chance to try something new. We made some nice memories, though the overall atmosphere felt a bit on the colder side for my taste. It wasn’t especially warm or memorable, but it served its purpose. For me personally, I prefer the vibe and perks at MJR Southfield, where I enjoy free popcorn every Tuesday—whether I catch a movie or not. That said, Bel Air may be a great option for others, especially those nearby.

I love this theater. Best popcorn. The staff are always frienldy. They have lots of snacks to choose from and it's clean. New seats are super comfy for snuggling. No crying babies or toddlers in the NC17 or R films which is a plus. Other patrons are considerate as well. I've been going here since it was a drive-in.

This place has to do better. The air conditioner is nonexistent, which caused the theatre's to be hot and muggy. The concession stand person had the absolute worst customer service. He had no interest in serving us, and was very dismissive. There was no fresh popcorn. I tried to order chicken tenders and was told it would be a 30 minute wait when there was no one else in the line. I was given a hot bottled pop. The nachos that I ordered were stale and were gross. Half of the bathrooms were out of order. This place needs an update. If you want to compete with suburban theaters, you need to step your game up. No one wants to pay for a subpar experience. I will not be returning.

Yesterday was my first visit since watching, Up In Smoke; Next Movie and Nice Dreams back when the Bel-Air was a Drive-in Theater! The seats were comfortable and I like the fact that I don't have to climb a lot of stairs now that I am older after having heart failure. Whenever the parking lot gets an upgrade and smoothed out, maybe more people will come. My lady and I saw "SINNERS" and we enjoyed our time together there. We may return next Saturday afternoon.

This theater is a night & day difference from the bel air 10 when I was a kid. There is no way 2 homeless guys should be passed out drunk in the lobby!

I use to go here all the time literally a lifetime ago and decided to check it out and was pleasantly surprised, clean inside, staff professional, popcorn was good, prefer Coca-Cola, but they have pepsi. My only complaint would be reprave parking lot or at least fill the pot holes. I will be coming here from now on.

Excellent theater! Place was very clean, staff was very polite as well. They were the only theater in Michigan to play the encampments. Concessions are fairly priced and always fresh.

I love this place! It’s been here for many years. The staff is nice, the popcorn is the best and the movies are always up to date!

Yelp
My friend and I are Eastsiders and we went to this theater for the first time last weekend. What a great experience. It's well-maintained with a wide selection of fresh food, candy and popcorn, and even a small bar. The pleasant young employees are friendly and efficient. The cinemas are clean and the seats are comfortable. And there are 10 cinemas, so the movie selection has something for everyone. One of the best things was we didn't have to get on a freeway to see a movie. Given the general lack of movie theaters on the east side, Bel Air is a godsend and I'm going to be returning to it often.

Yelp
The prize isn't the worst I've seen for this type of luxury place. Food was good. I wish my popcorn teve cheese caramel mix would have been warm. But good over all I would visit if in the area again

Yelp
I have not been to the bel air in over a decade for obvious reasons. It was remodeled sometime ago so recently I decided to give it a shot. The theater looks great, the seats are all Updated. The first two rows of seats seem to be the only ones that are lazy boy recliners but the rest of theatre does have very comfort leather rockers with plenty of leg room, the rockers arm rest also lift to create that couch feel for dates. Nachos are 5 bucks so a lil bit cheaper then bigger theatre's. Security is also very tight and visible, in the lobby, outside the theatre and even in the actual theatre itself. They even watch and listen for rambunctious guest who are interrupting the movie or causing other issues and promptly remove them. I'd definitely return in the future.

Yelp
This moive theater is not recommended 0/10 would not recommend. I took my children to the movie after a LONG day of work and I was under the impression that I could drop my 15 year old daughter and her friends off to this location. When they got there they were told since they had no id they couldn't go to see the movie AFTER THEY PAYED. The staff was very rude. This movie theater wasn't in a safe location. Also the guy that worked at the front desk was very rude to my children. In the end my children couldn't see the movie because they weren't 16 and it was after 6pm and my daughters friend couldn't get a refund. DO NOT I REPEAT DO NOT SPEND ANY MONEY AT THIS LOCATION.

Yelp
Bel air was a first time theater for me when my husband and I watched cure for wellness. Interesting movie. We did some shopping and eating nearby so we thought to catch a movie. It sort of reminded me of an emagine, it seemed sort of small. But then I realized that its because their screens are smaller. Their reclining chairs are big deal for me. The counter is at the very front entrance when you go in and you can buy your snacks, drinks and sweets along with your ticket right away. The bathrooms are to your left and right and seemed very clean! Their dyson dryers are super fast!

Yelp
Great movie theater option for the greater metro Detroit area! There are no movie theaters in the Downtown/ Grosse Pointe area and this one is a great option! Don't let the location or outside appearance deter you! The reclining seats are comfortable and the theater was very clean. Note: there is no bar and they do not serve alcohol at their concession stand. I will definitely revisit this theater in the future!

Yelp
I was in town for work when i saw on the news that this theater would be doing a 15 year anniversary screening of 8 Mile. I purchased the tickets on Fandango with ease. The tickets were 8 dollars before all of the service charges. When we got to the theater they were not able to scan my ticket at the door. I still had to go to the window and get a paper ticket. And I literally mean a paper ticket. The girl scanned my phone with her phone. It was kind of weird and outdated. Needless to say i got to see the movie! Before the movie started, they played this promo over 50-60 times (im not exaggerating). It wasn't even the promo itself that was so annoying it was the fact that the volume was on 100!! But i enjoyed the movie. The proceeds went to a local charity. They apparently had a red carpet and guest appearances but i went straight in the theater. A cool experience! How many times can you say you saw 8 mile in 8 mile?!

Yelp
I've supported this theatre for years. Going back to when it was the Phoenix. The staff is Great! Theatres and Bathrooms are Clean. Popcorn is a messy snack, but they are QUICK to clean it up. And FINALLY!!!! THE BAR IS OPEN!!!!

Yelp
Me and the hubby went to see a movie here for the first time in almost 20 years! We've been seeing that they remodeled and it's only a few minutes from home. It's your basic movie experience. It looks nice inside but nothing special. Maybe I expected more because of the remodel. Nothing bad just underwhelming. We got popcorn and some curly fries. Both were good but the fries were really good! I'm also underwhelmed by the theatre itself. They are small like the dollar show. The seats are nice rocking recliners but they should have stadium seating. Especially since they just remodeled. Isn't that the norm for the movies now a days? The staff was attentive, friendly and very helpful. We asked for one movie but the ticket he gave us was for a different movie. We didn't realize until the movie started lol. We told the ticket guy and he gave us tickets to the next showing and said we could still watch the wrong movie. So we ended up seeing 2 movies for $7 each. Over all it was a nice experience. We will go back for sure. My cheapskate side will only go to the matinee for $7 because I want the giant screen, stadium seating and maybe alcohol if I pay $14 to see a movie.

Yelp
I cannot begin to tell how Johny, the manager at Bel Air Luxury Cinema saved the day! It began as a much anticipated school trip. To start it off, the planning for it was non stressful. Johny worked with our schedule and got us a date we could work with and really showed us A1 customer service. Thinking that we were going to have an uneventful experience, we got down to the day and it seemed we were in for a big disappointment! OUR SCHOOL BUS VENDOR DID NOT SHOW UP! Instead of cancelling and rescheduling our trip and dealing with over 100 students, Johny took it upon himself to be our champion of the day. He contacted our vendor and tried to facilitate transportation, but to no avail. Not giving up, he used his connections to schedule us another bus company (on the spot), and made sure we still maintained the excellent customer service I received when booking the trip. The theater and bathrooms were spotless. The staff was accommodating and we all know how hard that can be with 100 school-aged children. When other theaters never returned my calls, Johny and the staff at BelAir showed up and went above and beyond their call of duty. For m there will never be any question which theater to use for our next field trip...Thank you Bel Air and most of all, thank you Johny. You didn't have to do it, but you did and I have 115 smiling faces to prove it!!

Yelp
Great experience today at Bel Air Luxury Cinema! The place is absolutely beautiful. The seats are crazy comfortable. And the movie selection is superb (we saw Solo). Don't miss out on this cinematic experience and check out this theater! Not only are you gonna have a great time but you're gonna support a local Detroit business.

Yelp
it's kinda in the middle of nowhere. the surroundings look kinda bad. the outside is nice but i'm sad there was only recliners in the front. the rest were the old types of chairs.

Yelp
It's a clean and nice theater. I love to take my family for a great night out. It's never overcrowded and the staff is courteous and helpful. My kids and grandkids love playing the arcade games before and of course after the movie. I must say it priced right and it's a great place to spend some family time.

Yelp
I come here all the time. Usually the first showing of the day because its usual a handful of ppl. Well today I parked in the front by the door with maybe five other cars that were spaced out. There's a security guard in the parking lot which I like however today someone broke in my car before 2:15pm when I left the theater. My car wasn't tossed just picked through. I don't understand how when there was a literal hand full of cars and security. Either it was security, his friends or he wasn't doing his job. I tried to call to speak with a manager and of course there isn't a way to talk to anyone because it's automated and doesn't give the option. . . I think next time I will go to an AMC which is $5 during the week for everyone and they allow outside food. Don't believe me just ask them.

Yelp
Went in Monday night to watch captain America the winter soldier. Pretty small theatre compared to amc. It was just my group and 6 other ppl in the theatre. Was nice to have all that leg room.

Yelp
I like it nice clean and just minutes from home I see they got the green light and that's a good thing for added security
