Belami - Hotel Ristorante Cantina

Belami in Maglie was a major disappointment. The “catch of the day” was clearly old and smelled off, left by our table in hopes we’d choose one of those fish. We declined and decided to order an à la carte seafood pasta instead, asking if it could be cooked without wine due to dietary requirements. The waiter said the only option without wine was the Chianina ragù, as all other pasta dishes were already pre-mixed, unless we chose one of the smelly fish of the day. If the food were freshly prepared, the chef could have easily made a seafood pasta from the menu without wine. Most dishes seemed pre-cooked or frozen. I honestly don’t understand how this place can be mentioned in the Michelin guide. I usually avoid leaving negative reviews, but in this case, it was necessary.

We thought it was one of the best meals of our entire stay in Puglia. The food was amazing and the staff and service was very friendly and helpful. The ice cream they served at the end was some of the best ice cream we have ever had.

We were recommended this place by some locals for lunch. During our travels we ate here twice. The restaurant and hotel is nicely decorated and very new. We chose 2 pastas to share which the chef Tiziano kindly divided for us and presented them beautifully. He was very helpful in helping to choose a white wine. Unfortunately we didn't like the first choice and he happily changed it for us. Not something that happens very often in Italy! They have another restaurant on the beach in Otranto called Atlantis.

Hotel central postion very baroque building car parking about four free spaces opposite in the square.Top Hotel in Magile and the restaurant specialising in fish , would like a more varied menu if eating in Hotel every night.Contiinental breakfast very basic. Rooms very large high ceilings no view out of window . Manager spoke English very helpful. My cousin lives in Magile and went there for a meal two years ago was impressed so booked to stay there in June , They say eat were the locals go.

What a gem of a place - a fab modern hotel in an historic old townhouse...original tiled floors. 'Easy free parking opposite, spotlessly clean, stylish design, excellent food (the ravioli was a zillion miles away from anything we've had elsewhere - awesome), great wine etc etc. One of the most impressive things was the affability of the staff - Elenia on the front reception was ultra helpful and fun without being intrusive...she phoned ahead for us when we wanted to visit an olive oil shop and called us when she'd discovered we'd left two bottles of wine in the fridge! We vwere sorry to leave and would stay there again without hesitation! You'll not get better value for money.

Outstanding food offer and respective quality... Fresh fish catch every day... very good local wines, especially suggest the Susumaniello from cantine Menhir... Service very professional... looking fwd to be back soon again
