Belen de la Cruz - Empanadas & Pastries - Savannah

Belén de la Cruz is small and undeniably cute, but the overall vibe just didn’t land for me. The empanadas were tasty, though much smaller than expected, so the value felt a bit off. We ordered three and waited well over 20 minutes, only to learn that one of the empanadas I ordered had been given to someone else by mistake, so I ended up having to choose a different item. I was also hoping for a cappuccino, but their coffee is made with an automatic machine rather than a traditional espresso setup, which I don’t really care for. On the bright side, the staff were very pleasant, and paid street parking was easy to find. Overall, an okay experience, but not one I’d go out of my way to revisit.

What a gem! We were just walking by this quaint place in Savannah and saw the signage and decided to stop in and check it out. The staff was amazing, atmosphere was lovely and the empanadas and pastries were top notch! We had a delightful conversation with the owner from Argentina and left feeling like we met a new friend! We ate our food when it came and forgot to take pictures so I took some from the display case before we left. The apple cake and almond croissant was absolutely the best we have ever had. We tried 3 different empanadas and one was better than the other. GREAT FIND! Stop by if you get the opportunity!!!

Don’t snooze on this place. Authentic empanadas, stunning pastries. Have been in business a year, clean and tidy, local business worthy of your support. The almond croissant is way big enough to share! You’ll want more than one empanada!

This restaurant is super spectacular, we loved it all, first time we come and recommend it with our eyes closed, the empanadas we ate very delicious, we tried the corn, spinach, mushrooms and squash. The pastry super exquisite and fresh. All the staff that serves in this place are very friendly and in addition to that the restaurant is very clean and smells great. Thanks guys for creating a place like this to make people leave happy and satisfied and in addition we can recommend it.

Nice cafe in Savannah with good service. Had some good coffee, tried some pastries and empanadas. However disappointingly the pastries we could tell were dry and likely old. The empanadas were great although very pricy for what they are.

They have the best empanadas in Savannah… cheese, mushrooms, beef. And the Colombian guy took great care of us, very friendly. I 100% recommend it.

We stopped in here for a latte and also got the Almond croissant. The pastry was truly baked with love!❤️ The owner's are very sweet! Highly recommend this place.

The restaurant is attractive and spotless. The server welcomed us with a big smile. The empanadas, raspberry bars, and coffee were delicious. The restroom was bright and spotless, too. 5+++!

Absolutely adorable . This was one of my must try places and so glad I came. Small but quaint space with outdoor seating if desired. We ordered the cheesy chicken, cheesy beef , beef, spinach and squash to try, along with a coffee and pastry and flan and carrot cake. If I could give 10 stars I would have. There's nothing like fresh food, these empanadas aren't fried like traditional ones they're baked and made to order. One word INCREDIBLE!!!!! everything we ate was INCREDIBLE and the service delightful with good conversation. With many more options to try we can't wait to come back. Gracias a Belen for blessing Savannah with this jewel of a spot. TODO RIQUISIMO!!!!!!!!!

This was a very pleasant find in Savannah this past weekend. We normally have dinner reservations around 6:00PM most Savannah dinner nights, so we always try to find a good "snack" around 1 to hold us over. I think we found our place: Pros: - Tons of variety for empanadas. They have something for everyone. Chicken, pizza, beef, vegan, bacon, spinach, onion, etc. You could go here every day and try something different for a while. - Price. These are $5 a pop empanadas and well worth every penny. - Flavor. Need I say more? We had chicken and a caprese one and they hit. - Freshness. They're not skimping on fillings or great ingredients. - They brand each empanada and it's really adorable. - Location! Great spot. Cons: - None. Yeah this place is it. For $5 a pop - man, you can have some fun here. I will absolutely be back and will come back to try some coffee.

Chicken empanada is greater than the Beef empanada. The empanadas are clearly marked on the actual dough. It's a nice and clean place.

Great to have a high-quality empanada place in the area! There's indoor and outdoor seating. Great to stop in for a mid day coffee and snack! Tasted great.

This is a new addition to Savannah but apparently a well established Atlanta business, which explains why it seemed a polished operation. The space is small, built around a communal table with a couple of other indoor and outdoor seats, but it is quite pleasant and is on a main street that you can walk to from the main attractions of the city. Their selection is split between savory empanadas and desserts pretty evenly. It's one of those places where being a vegetarian versus a vegan is very different because they are heavy on dairy. Interestingly, they did offer beverages with oat milk (Oatly), so you could get something to drink without animal products, but not something to eat. This was not evident online, but they did offer sensible combo deals, so I tried several empanadas with a dessert and a drink. I enjoyed all of them; the caprese was the best due to the sharpness of the basil inside. My dulce de leche cookie was quite luscious, and the tea, while perhaps not their signature drink, was strong and provided a useful unsweetened flavor contrast. It was a quick and good lunch option, and I expect this company's expansion to Savannah will go well.

Friendly greeting, delicious food and great ambiance. A quant little space with a cozy energy and delicious empanadas. Dear to try different flavors like the mushroom or the butternut squash, as they will not disappoint. The iced "brew" and the hot macchiato were great on a rainy day. A perfect place to grab a bite and hit wait it out before hitting the streets again.

The empanadas are delicious and I'm already thinking about my next trip here. Service is fast. Seating is on the limited side but shouldn't deter you from visiting. They have delicious desserts as well and offer a fun deal (2 empanadas, a desert, and drink). It's worth the cost. Everyone working there was kind and wanted to know how we liked our meals. I'd go back and would absolutely recommend to others.

New business alert! Such a cute bakery located on Liberty & Abercorn! They did a wonderful job restoring the building. The place is small, there's a few small bistro tables outside and several seats inside. The ladies behind the counter were wonderful - so helpful! There's 2 cases of pastries; everything looked delicious. I had a hard time choosing, but they described everything. I decided on the alfajor - dulce de leche cookie (2 shortbread cookies with dulce de leche filling). The cookies were so soft and the filling was rich with flavor. It was absolutely delicious! I wish I would have gotten more than one. Like I'd easily eat 10 they're that good! I also got flan to-go for my husband. He loved it! I cannot wait to go back and try the empanadas. This place is definitely a little gem in Savannah.

I was very disappointed with the empanadas at Belén de la Cruz. While the taste is okay, the empanadas are ridiculously tiny--about half the size of a normal one--and they cost nearly five dollars each. For that price, I expected a decent meal, but instead, I felt completely cheated. Paying for a few small bites just isn't worth it. I would be happy to spend $15-$20 as long as there's enough food, but here, you get empanadas the size of ravioli and feel like an idiot. I don't like being treated this way. If you're going to open a place like this, at least make sure you serve enough food to leave your customers satisfied. Good food alone isn't enough--if the portions are this small, you'll lose customers fast. This place is definitely not for me.

Cute place on Liberty - we tried 6 different empanadas and our favorites were the ones that included chicken. The tres leches was not as soaked as it should have been but it was overall good. We also had the chocolate alfajor and it was rich in flavor - we will definitely order it again. The servers were nice and attentive. It's good to have Argentinian representation in Savannah.

Love Love Love! The coffee was incredible (Stumptown Coffee from Oregon) and the empanadas were delicious. Also loved our enthusiastic barista.

An absolute must!I'm from Columbus, Ohio so it was an absolute treat to stumble upon this shop. Very authentic treats and empanadas! Spinach and mushroom and the ham and cheese were to die for. The owner was so sweet and gave my daughter so many candies for Halloween. I had to come back a second time today to bring the entire family.

Absolutely would recommend. 10 out of 10! We tried multiple empanadas and they were so tasty. Fresh, clean, wonderful service! A charm or a place, going back again!

Delicious empanadas! My favorite is mushroom, and the carrot cake is to die for! The staff are very friendly and helpful. I visit this place several times a month.

This place has the best coffee and pastries that I've had in Savannah. You are missing out if you go anywhere else around here; the PRICES are very CHEAP for this part of town. The empanadas are super delicious as well, closest I've had to the ones in Argentina, and the service is genuinely friendly. The atmosphere is very pretty and it is very clean! Go here if you can!
