Doesn't it seem like this place has been on Polk at Jackson for like ever? I wish there were more places that have been around since the early 1990's like this dependable spot. There's an actual bell tower where I keep thinking the Hunchback of Polk Gulch must swing down on a rope to rescue Esmeralda... and have a burger, rare no doubt. I just like that it's here ready for the occasional drop-by meal.
I have to admit it had been years since my last visit when I recall having a reunion lunch with a former boss. This time, in the throes of a fluctuating pandemic, I took advantage of an empty restaurant on a rainy Sunday morning. I forgot how big the bar is here as I took a seat next to the window. The full brunch menu was just as I expected - chicken and waffles, corned beef hash, fried egg sandwich, pizza rolls...pizza rolls? Carb central for sure but awfully tempting.
I went for the $13.50 Breakfast Quesadilla, which of course, a heftier serving than I was expecting. It consisted of pulled pork, scrambled eggs, tomato, and melted cheddar jack cheese folded into a mammoth flour tortilla. It was topped with splooges of chipotle aioli and tomatillo sauce and came with a side of pico de gallo (photo). Of course it was delicious, and I believe it was owner Barbi Tice who stopped by and thanked me for my business. Very thoughtful, it went a long way for me.

SERVICE - 5 stars...pretty darn attentive with a conscientious owner
TOTAL - 4 stars...no bats in this belfry
