The 19 Best Restaurants In Calistoga

"It’s hard to walk by, smell the morning buns, scones, and pain au chocolat, and not stop in to check out Bella Bakery. The panini and focaccia pizzas are a great primer for wine tasting if they’re available when you go, and if you have an occasion to celebrate during your visit, the designer cakes and fruit pies are excellent." - christina julian

As perfect as a small town, no frills local type bakery can be. And I mean that in a great way! Getting into this place at 6:30 in the morning on a Saturday, it became very quickly that this was the quick breakfast place of choice for lots of locals. The kind of place where you walk in and they know your name and your order. Breakfast burrito was out of this world. Featuring chorizo, potatoes, eggs, and tomatillo salsa as one of the options, it was as big as my hand, wrapped tight, and weighed about 2 pounds. it’s something really different. I also had the cornbread which they said sold out daily in about an hour or two. Never thought cornbread could taste fresh like fresh corn, but this stuff sure does. Super moist, thick, actual corn pieces in it, and not overly grain like as many cornbread are. Coffee was perfect and we even met some new friends who were candle vendors at the local farmers market.

Everything is made FRESH in house. Quiche, cookies, sandwiches, tasty treats and fresh made espresso based coffees are all available at this wonderful little bakery. Counter-services is fast and friendly. You will find everything from French pastry to Mexican favorites can are served. No public restroom.

Nice, and busy, little bakery full of variety. The lemon bar was rich and heavy in a good way. The berry crumble crisp bar was more crisp than berries and a bit dry, and not very sweet. It was more like a large soft granola bar with a hint of berries. It was good, and I would try other things there if in the area, but not a spectacular first experience.

The ladies at this place are super helpful and very kind. But I'm so disappointed. I ordered two white mocha frappes with extra white mocha. After leaving the bakery, and driving off I tasted the drinks and they had NO flavor whatsoever... I mean they taste like WATERED DOWN MILK... Was such a waste of money... I also ordered the small little chocolate cake they sell .. which is WAY too EXPENSIVE in my eyes. $12 for a little tiny cake.. and THAT too; has NO flavor AT ALL. I don't know if it was just a bad day for everything they were making/saleing or this is how the place always is. Since this is only my first time trying it. But I feel like I wasted Almost $30... I wish I could get my money back at this point. VERY disappointed!

Google
The staff is very friendly. But the breakfast burrito tortilla was soggy and the eggs tasted like they came from a powder. The pastry was also mediocre..didn’t feel the love in it. Unfortunately not on my list to go back

Awesome treats! Polite, friendly staff!

My boss uses to say that the hallmark of a great croissant is that the layers are so flaky that you can't help but make a mess. Bella's pastries are definitely flaky and messy in a good way. We got a turnover, a spinach feta croissant, and a peach and cream filled croissant. The turnover was amazing, the spinach feta was a little sweet (like the dough had been dusted with a little bit of sugar) which I didn't love but it was still pretty good, and the peach would have been better if the peaches weren't from a can but it's the middle of the winter so can't really complain. It's definitely not a cheap place but it's worth a stop while in Calistoga.

Perfect cake & cannolis for our wedding! Paul & the team are amazing!

Yelp
First time here. Fabulous coffee, drinks, and pastries! The staff were very nice even though they were closing they served us well! We will be back!

Yelp
Visited Bella's Bakery in Calistoga and it's such an adorable little spot in this charming small town! Started my day with their breakfast English muffin with ham and egg, and it was honestly just so good. Perfect way to kick off the morning! I also picked up one of their pre-made sandwiches for later, and it turned out to be a winner too! I think it was turkey with Brie cheese, and my partner absolutely loved it, saying it was amazing. I've heard through the grapevine that it might be one of Oprah's favorite bakeries, but can't say for sure--can anyone fact check that for us? If you find yourself in Calistoga, make sure to stop by Bella's Bakery for some tasty treats!

Yelp
Stopping at Bella for coffee and light breakfast bites has been a regular habit for my friends and I when spending a weekend in Calistoga. It can get pretty busy at times, but the short wait is worth it. These ladies hustle and the line moves quickly. Coffee is good like a diner unless you want something more fancy like a matcha latte. If you have a sweet tooth. Bella has so many exquisite looking sweet treats I've never tried, but they sure are pretty! I'm sure they're good based on all the delicious breakfast offerings. I always get the jalapeño cheddar croissant. It just hits the spot for my savory craving in the morning. My gf loves her almond croissant which is also very good. Looking for more protein and less carbs? The quiches are quite big and pretty good but light on the ingredients inside. Bacon quiche could have used a bit more bacon but still fulfilling. If you want a proper breakfast they have chorizo, ham or sausage burritos also. I've never had one but maybe in the future before our morning wine tastings. Nice people behind the counter and so many delicious treats for the afternoon or morning! I look forward to another Bella breakfast next time I'm in Calistoga!

Yelp
Terrible customer service... Girls are gossiping to each other, laughing and carrion in stead of helping the customer... Very unprofessional!!!... Also.. I am on holiday and do not wish to get up early just to get a pastry... I went three days in a row at around 10.. they had nothing!!!!.... There needs to be more product!!!and donuts... Where are the doughnuts?.., please someone start a real bakery ....

Yelp
Coffee/bakery on the main street in downtown. We were looking for road snacks, but ordered breakfast sandwiches, coffee and a scone. Gorgeous baked goods and sandwiches. Mellow vibe. Decorated with local art. A great stop to start the day and/or snack latter. Two thumbs up from this guy!
google avatar

Kristina M.

Yelp
There were so many delicious looking items to choose from. The staff were efficient and friendly. I had the breakfast sandwich on an English muffin. It was nothing special. My spouse had the raspberry pastry. He loved his. I would definitely be eager to return and try something else.

Yelp
Stopped in before heading back home after spending the holiday in Calistoga. Awesome bakery to grab baked goods & coffee. I had a dirty chai which essentially a chai with an espresso shot. It was by far one of the best ones I've had. I also treated myself to lemon bar, it was delicious. The bakery is located in the heart of downtown. Walkable from various stays.

Yelp
This is where the locals go, and they are 100% onto something. We had a breakfast sandwich, pastry, corn bread and dreamed of trying so many more things. The staff were super friendly, there are large tables, and open seating. the space has a nice, open, welcoming feel. Will definitely be back when in the area.

Yelp
Easily some of the best pastries I've ever had. I've been here a couple of times and it has yet to disappoint. Their coffee is great, breakfast burritos have tons of meat, egg, and cheese. I've had a chocolate croissant, spinach and feta, almond croissant, peaches and cream danish, bacon Asiago quiche, and all have been amazing. I love stopping in after work (I work night shift) and getting something on my way home. I've never waited more than a couple minutes in line or to get my coffee. There's plenty of seating and the staff are always kind and patient, especially with so much to choose from. Plus they're always playing good music in the mornings which just adds to the experience. I plan on coming many more times.

Yelp
Great place for a drink and coffee. Came in to town early which is always the best time in Calistoga. The service is quick and friendly. Nice set up with tables and chairs to relax. Variety of baked goods as well as sandwiches and quiche. I had a 16oz black tea $4.00, (refills $2) and a small quiche $5.93. Both very good. The cafe floor had a lot of crumbs but an employee came out to sweep while I was there. You can see into the kitchen and it was really clean.
google avatar

Hannah W.

Yelp
We came here for breakfast during our short trip to Calistoga. They had a great selection of baked goods and breakfast items. I especially enjoyed the Bacon and Asiago quiche! There is seating inside (but they don't allow to combine the tables if you have a larger group). We ate there and unfortunately there were some persistent flies that made the experience not as pleasant. Service was very minimal and the staff could be friendlier, but not a big deal if you're just grabbing pastries and coffee to go!

Kathy C.

Yelp
This bakery is amazing! Everything so fresh and the choices are varied and plentiful. Don't love the coffee, hence the 4 stars, but the pasties are more than worth a visit. Been here a ton of times, never disappointed.

Yelp
I have been staying in Calistoga for the past 3 days and every morning I have taken a walk down to this Bakery for the best quick breakfast. I had the breakfast burrito, the croissant breakfast sandwich, and the English muffin (which they make fresh) breakfast sandwich. Everything thing has been so yummy and fresh. I love their cold chai as well. Such a cute place with a friendly staff.

Pamela N.

Yelp
Great treats! But why the snarky attitude? Every dang time I go in and buy stuff, I get a snarky attitude from what seems to be the head honcho. I just ask for items and pay...no real interaction to judge me on. Sheesh! I used to live in Calistoga and got this same treatment each visit! I want to support local small businesses, but even just stopping by now that I no longer live in the area, same ole snark....oh well I can go down the street....

Yelp
Love Latin family owned shops like this one. Had one of the biggest conchas I have ever seen. It was delicious. Also had the matcha latte my niece had the frappe and mentioned it was not sweet at all!!! so for my coffee lover get the frap. Must check out

Yelp
The pastry was fantastic, my friends loved their huge slices of oversized quiche, however the breakfast sandwich on a homemade English muffin was fine. Granted, I did ask for no cheese on said brekkie sammy, but the eggs weren't flavorful and the English muffin wasn't crispy enough. The Iced coffee was solid. Some Yelpers seem to complain about service, and while it wasn't friendly, it was fine. But let's go back for those pastries. So flakey, so fresh and what a menu and variety. I love jam. I love probably most any pastries filled with jams and the raspberry croissant was it for me. Prices are relative to Napa, but not overly so. There were 2 small tables in front and plenty of poles to tie our bikes to. Overall, grab a pastry (or a quiche), a coffee and enjoy!

Yelp
This is such a cute bakery! I'm so sad I didn't take any pictures but I was so consumed with the food that I forgot haha. I had the nutella banana croissant, hot chocolate, and the chorizo burrito. Both were phenomenal. The croissant was hands down my favorite. It was so rich and flaky like a proper croissant. The burrito was huge and really hit the spot. They also had a nice selection of other baked goods that it was so hard to choose. The staff was super friendly and the venue was so cute and cozy. Would definitely go back! Edit: I realized that I took a video of their baked goods after all!! Just not of my food! The mini cakes were so cute!

Yelp
Popped in here on a sunny afternoon for a quick pick me up and they delivered! We got a ham and cheese quiche, warmed up, for $7. The slice was huge and the quiche was delicious! Flakey pastry and crust with a fluffy and flavorful interior. They also have plenty of indoor seating with people on their laptops getting work done, so they have wifi. Definitely coming back the next time I'm in the area to try more of their baked goods!

Yelp
First thing this morning to get the day off to a great start. Such an amazing array of goodies, it made it hard to decide. Cranberry orange scone and a lemon poppyseed scone along with 2 lattes. Delicious! We just ordered to sandwiches to go, ham and Swiss and turkey pesto for our lunch on the road, couldn't pass it up. This is a definite must stop!

Yelp
The best bakery in town- been a customer for years. My family has been here for four generations. And I had recommend this bakery to friends and family for years as a must for Calistoga. Future customers be warned, the hostility is in full effect when asked to fix a wrong drink order. The lukewarm latte came back so scalding that it burnt the inside of my little sisters mouth. Additionally, Spanish is such a common language in this area the girls behind the counter should know that the words and disrespect was fully understood. Dear Paul- good pastries. Horrible customer service.
google avatar

Yelp
Best Orange Zest Poppyseed croissant delight made my day!! First time here and the man ahead of me buys the last Orange Poppyseed for me because he heard me say I wanted one for my birthday What a sweet guy! Said he goes there all the time and I'm visiting. So if staff sees this review, thank him again... I'm sure you know who he is. He was buying a bunch! Great cappuccino too!
google avatar

Cinthya V.

Yelp
Very cute bakery, they bake all their breads!!! The blueberry pastry was deliciously flaky and just sweet enough. Their bagels are perfectly crafted and served as ordered. The service was outstanding and quick. I loved this spot.

Yelp
This bakery is just Awesome! We visited three bakeries, one in St. Helena, then Healdsburg and lastly in Calistoga. I'd rank them in the order we found them. All good, but Bella's in Calistoga was by far the best of the three. It's possibly the smallest of the three, but with a wonderful selection. They had three or four deep dish quiches. We got the bacon and cheese and OMG was it wonderful! The slices are large enough for my husband and I to share with the pastry. The crust was so light and flaky and the custard filling...... umm umm good! And their pastries were by far the most delicious. This is a must stop in the sweet little town of Calistoga. You just cannot go wrong at Bella's, and I can't say enough good about them.

Cassie C.

Yelp
My mom and I just had the best croissants of our lives from this bakery. Just visiting for the weekend. They were already busy at 7:10am and they had a huge selection. I had Nutella and banana, and mom had raspberry. Flaky and delicious. Just wear a bib and don't get the croissants if you're on a date - we were a mess - but a happy mess!

Yelp
Whenever we come to Calistoga we always try to drop in here. Their bread pudding is excellent, buttery and moist with the right amount of sweetness. I also love their Cajun sandwich. The bread is fresh with good bite and the filling is so tasty. I recommend getting both heated.
google avatar

Rebecca C.

Yelp
This local bakery is worth checking out. I wish I could try one of everything. They have many sweet and savory choices to choose from. We got a couple savory items including the Cajun panini and ham and Swiss quiche. The panini was pretty spicy according to my boyfriend. My mom enjoyed the generous slice of quiche. I had the banana Nutella croissant for breakfast which was absolutely delicious! It seems like they change up the pastries they offer each day. For coffee, they serve local Black Oak Coffee offer milk alternatives including oat milk. There is plenty of indoor seating and some tables outside. When we inquired about their panini's they mentioned we could call ahead if we wanted to order a panini and they would put it on the grill. There is a great team of friendly ladies behind the counter. I will definitely return the next time I am in Calistoga.

Yelp
Lovely Coffee Shop and Cafe in Calistoga. I came in for lunch after a morning hike and was delighted by the selection of quiches and sandwiches, which all looked amazing. I went ahead and ordered a large black iced tea, the veggie quiche, and a chocolate chip peanut butter cookie. All we excellent, and I was pleasantly surprised the total was around $14 before tip. This is a relatively affordable option for the area and they do not sacrifice quality. Service is friendly and I will definitely be back on my next trip to the area.

Yelp
After a relaxing night in our room at the nearby Cottage Grove Inn (CGI), my wife and I decided to take a nice walk to get breakfast and coffee. Typically CGI operates as a Bed & Breakfast. However, due to COVID restrictions, they cannot offer this service. Therefore, CGI has partnered with Bella Brew Bakery to offer its guests a discount on it's breakfast options. Although busy, we were warmly greeted by an employee as we entered the establishment. Similar to the sitcom "Cheers", a lot of regular customers were greeted by their first name as they entered the cafe. I ordered a chorizo Breakfast burrito and my wife ordered a breakfast quiche. To quench our thirst, we ordered two large coffees. Ten minutes later we were back in our room devouring our meals. Although it could have used some salsa, my breakfast burrito was delicious! Since I haven't had a quiche in years, I had to sneak a bite when my wife wasn't looking (I do this often). The quiche was tasteful and made me want to go back and order one for myself. If you're staying in the area, I highly recommend starting your day off with breakfast at Bella Brew Bakery!

Nahid N.

Yelp
Great breakfast and coffee - they also do birthday cakes. We loved the caprese sandwich and their cold brew
google avatar

Amanda S.

Yelp
I would eat anything they serve, it all looked so good. I got the croissant bread pudding, it looked like a French toast casserole so I figured it would be great for breakfast. It exceeded my wildest dreams!! It was like creme brûlée and crispy bits of sugary croissant. Never had bread pudding before, it was amazing!! We also tried the pistachio cannoli, the shell was dipped in chocolate and very good. $5 per cannoli is a little high, but it is Calistoga, everything is 50% more than it should be. I also tried a cold brew with added caramel instead of a sweetener, it was way too sweet and got dumped, my bad.
google avatar

Ally W.

Yelp
I stopped by to get a few pastries and coffee, and enjoyed the blueberry scone, orange-poppyseed croissant, and white mocha. The pastries are on the larger side, and get a thumbs up from me. The white mocha had a good creamy flavor without being overly sweet. I also got the bacon-Asiago quiche: liked the filling, but not the soft crust (1 star off). There are several tables to sit at, but no bathroom for customers. The staff is friendly and efficient, especially when the lines can get long during the mornings. Go to the bathroom before getting in line.
google avatar

Shelley S.

Yelp
Friendly service and quick! We ordered the English muffin with butter and jam, a blueberry granola bar with was delicious and I'd drive back just for that!!, some raspberry shortbread cookies and a turkey panini. We were so full! Best part is they had Diet Coke- bakeries never have that! They let me use the restroom which I was grateful for! OH! I bought a loaf of homemade pumpkin bread to take home but haven't tried yet. Can't wait. Warning: they close at 2pm. The employees really care about the business which was refreshing. We will be back!!!

Yelp
Did an overnight trip to Calistoga and stopped here to pick up a cake. While it was super convenient since I didn't need to lug it up with me, I wouldn't do it again. *Mini white cake with apricot filling - It was super cute to look at and $10.95. I absolutely love cake so when I tell you that I couldn't even take more than 1 bite because of how astoundingly overly-sweet it was, understand the level of disappointment I felt. Even swallowing the single bite was very difficult. Would be a hard pass for me in the future regarding their cakes. *Breakfast sandwich on an English muffin - basic breakfast fare. Had a decent balance of ingredients, eggs were fluffy, and the sandwich piping hot. If eating in, be aware that this is a self-service cafe like many bakeries.

Elizabeth Marie D.

Yelp
Amazing scones and croissants! Pistachio cannolis were incredible as well. Highly recommend.
google avatar

Yelp
Talk about a hole in the wall but such an amazing gem in Calistoga. This bakery has everything, pastries, quiche Sandwiches, bagels, cookies and we had something of each. The scones were to die for so flavorful and moist. Whatever you want they have or will make. If your looking for a muffin and coffee for breakfast or just want to hang out on the patio this is the place.
google avatar

Yelp
Dropped in this spot as I desperately needed caffeine but wasn't sure what to expect as it was on the way to Napa. You know how it is when you see a cafe without checking Yelp? I went in blind folks. You could say that I am living on the edge these days. Well! Ordered a half-caff Americano with soy milk and can I just say that the coffee here is amazing? Lovely crema on top and good quality beans. Better than Starbucks by far. As for the cafe ambiance itself, it is a bit on the starker side, but lots of clean and plentiful seating. We tried a chocolate cannoli and ginger cookie. My pet peeve with cannoli is that sometimes the outer cookie shell can get chewy due to the filling doing the osmosis thing to the shell. However this was not the case! The ginger cookie, while tasty, had a bit of a burnt aftertaste. Perhaps this was just a one off, but unfortunately that was what I encountered. Fantastic assortment of pastries and cakes. The mini birthday cake caught my eye as it was the size of a large-ish cupcake. Next time I'll just buy it to celebrate my half or even three-quarters birthday.

Yelp
While visiting Calistoga we got the recommendation to come to this bakery. It is amazing. Everyone was friendly. We got the jalepino pastry, a blueberry pastry and the apricot walnut scone. All were delicious even the next day. And it was very close to our hotel. We will definitely come here on our next visit.

Mike R.

Yelp
Stopped in yesterday for a quick bite to eat. The staff was very friendly and welcoming, and the sandwiches were great! I honestly wasn't expecting them to be as flavorful as what I might get at a deli, but was completely satisfied. The cookies were, of course, exceptional.

Yelp
Wide range of selections of desserts, breakfast items and lunch Great customer service Food taste good Facility is clean Close to other locations

Yelp
Thought is was a bakery I got inside and saw 1 small I mean small window of baked. Cookies a few danishes but nothing like I expected and asked prices, off the hook expensive a one sugar coated goodie was $$4.75 I got my 1 and left not friendly either I won't be back totally a tourist ripp off like all of Calistoga seems to be sad very saddd
google avatar

Lu Lu S.

Yelp
Review is for coffees only since we didn't order their desserts but they sure did look yummy! The hubby and I love Calistoga and ideally would love to spend alone time here at least once a yeaR but it's been a couple of years now. Anyhow, came here for an adults overnight trip. After lunch we needed a pick me up and stoped by Bella's. The place itself is clean and simple, decor is not overwhelming. The hubby ordered a mocha with whipped cream, it was good. I ordered a latte with almond milk and one pump of sf caramel and it was made perfectly. I think the barista made it incorrectly the first time and aaa she read it out she caUght herself and made me the correct one and I'm okay with that. All in all, good service, friendly and offers good coffee; what's not to like?!
google avatar

Josh H.

Yelp
Had my heart with the Jalapeño croissant, but no reason to stop there as the Ham and cheese was a very close runner up. Cooked the flakey perfection. Quiches are amazing as well. Light and fluffy with great flavor, the Spinach was my favorite but Ham and Swiss was good as well. Excellent Americano and wife enjoyed the latte.
google avatar

Jose P.

Yelp
Insanely good. Best breakfast burrito and ham and cheese on a fresh baked croissant. Yes, two lattes! Thank you great service and friendly staff!
google avatar

Jeremy R.

Yelp
A busy bakery in the heart of Calistoga with an amazing selection of pastries, cookies, sandwiches and quiches. We went for the croissant bread pudding which had perfect mouthfeel and flavor, a berry frangipane tart and a lemon blueberry tart. I didn't notice too much almond flavor in the frangipane and the lemon tart was a bit on the sweet side but the crusts were good. Next time I will be more likely to order the cookies and tea breads/muffins which might be a little less sweet. Still, a nice spot to enjoy quality baked goods and watch the world go by.

Sophie P.

Yelp
New Favorite!!! I almost wanna keep it a secret... I'll give you a hint, I was laughing at my self saying " This morning I got sconed" So many great treats to choose from! I can hardly wait to go back. It made my visit to Calistoga waaaaaaay worth it! Now, save some yummy treats for me!

Carol O.

Yelp
A must stop for pastries and coffee when you're in Calistoga. Get there early before the selection of pastries is picked over. You'll be glad you did.

Yelp
Simple yet full of great surprises! Food & service great and location in Calistoga can't be beaten!

Yelp
Bella was recommended to us by a local. Great quiche and cookies . Terrible service. The ladies working today were not helpful. And bathroom out of service sign looks like its been there for ages. Not tourist friendly.

Yelp
So let me tell you how amazing this bakery was. We came in on Saturday and ordered a lot of stuff for the ladies as we were staying at the Golden Haven spa. Everything was great from the quiche, burrito, scones, ham and egg breakfast sandwich, parfaits and bagels. Only concern is that we were missing a quiche. Tried calling Saturday and Sunday but the line was busy. Not happy about being short a quiche as we had to share with one of the girls.
