The food was an absolute highlight. We started with the garlic bread (more like a garlic pizza), salumi plate, eggplant parmigiana, and a sugar plum tomato, nectarine & burrata salad. Each dish complemented the others beautifully—the refreshing salad balanced the richness of the salumi and garlic bread perfectly. The garlic bread itself was a standout: bold enough to enjoy on its own, yet subtle enough to pair with other dishes, and ideal for mopping up those delicious oils and sauces.
For mains, we tried the clam, potato, and sausage pizzas. The clam pizza was exceptional—delicate, not overly fishy, with a zesty lemon kick that made every bite sing. The potato pizza surprised me too; carbs on carbs isn’t usually my thing, but the garlic and rosemary worked wonders. The sausage pizza was good, though leaning towards the average side compared to the others. My only real disappointment was the burrata in the salad—it felt small for sharing and didn’t quite satisfy our cheese cravings. Honestly, that dish is better suited for one or two people, so if there are more of you, maybe order another.
I’m not usually one for red wine—my boyfriend and his family are slowly trying to convert me! They ordered a chilled red called Gonzo to start the night, which wasn’t to my taste, so I asked for help finishing it. The second red, Lezer, was much more palatable and paired beautifully with the dishes.
Service was fantastic thanks to our waiter, “V” (Venus). Warm, engaging, and genuinely attentive—he elevated the whole experience. The atmosphere was lively yet comfortable, with an open kitchen and wood-fired oven adding to the charm.
Overall, Bella Brutta delivers on flavour, vibe, and service. Highly recommend—and I’ll definitely be back.
