The Best and Most Anticipated Detroit Restaurant Openings, Fall 2021 - Eater Detroit

"Restaurateur Nino Cutraro, owner of Bella Piatti in downtown Birmingham, plans a new 6,800-square-foot seafood restaurant this month, featuring freshly cooked fish from Greece and Sicily. Sean Force, formerly of Ocean Prime, is executive chef over a menu of entrees centered on lots of fish and crudo that guests can select from an ice-filled display. The menu also includes pasta, steaks, and chops accompanied by an extensive wine list with selections from Italy, France, and Greece. Diners can hang out in a lounge area before and after dinner, where appetizers and drinks are served." - Monica Williams

Always a great experience with great food. This was our third time eating here. We invited my sister-in-law and brother-in-law to join us and had a great time. They enjoyed their food as well. I LOVE the spaghetti busara. My husband had the roasted quail and mushroom risotto, and that was really good. They really only need to have one quail for that meal rather than two. My brother-in-law and sister-in-law both had a fish dish and they enjoyed them. Our appetizers were all really good. We had a little leftover of the calamari that my sister-in-law took home for our 13 year old nephew to try (as he had wanted to try calamari), and he really liked it, and now he wants to go to Bella Piatti. 🙂 So, definitely another great experience, and of course we will definitely go back yet again. 🙂

Bella Piatti is everything you want in a family-owned Italian restaurant — warm, inviting, and absolutely unforgettable. The atmosphere is cozy and elegant, with the perfect balance of charm and sophistication that makes you feel instantly at home. The food is truly incredible. From the first bite of the house-made pasta to the last spoonful of dessert, everything is crafted with care and authenticity. The dry-aged steak is a standout — cooked to perfection, rich in flavor, and melt-in-your-mouth tender. It’s one of the best I’ve ever had. And don’t even think about skipping dessert — every option is decadent and delicious. Bella Piatti is a place you’ll want to come back to again and again — whether for a date night, family dinner, or special celebration. A true gem!

This was my favorite place in Birmingham...we celebrated several milestones here with amazing food and service. The last 3 times I've tried to pop in have been beyond disappointing. This winter my husband and I stopped by for a last minute date night at the bar only to be told where we should sit to maximize seating at the bar. We were told we could not sit where we wanted based on maximum seating for other guests to join. We begrudgingly applied to the bartender's snide request and continued to watch her tell other parties where and how to sit...never have I ever experienced this. We said if they get busy we would move to accommodate other patrons, but they insisted we move. We watched a group of 8 try to sit around the bar to her parameters and then quickly realize they did not want to spend any more time there. We ran into that same group at Hyde Park where we all went to eat and have drinks. The second time we tried to pop into dinner we were rudely turned away by the hostess. The third and final straw for us was tonight at 5:15 pm...we popped in to the bar only to be told they were completely full. We inquired if they take reservations for the bar and they said no, it is only for regulars. I hope the regular crowd is worth it for them because I adored this restaurant and now I would not ever recommend it to anyone.

Google
The food- magnificent The service (once you get seated)- amazing! The environment- may be a little packed, but incredible decor and solid vibe The hostess (older lady) - not friendly if it’s your first time- was rude to my girlfriend the moment she walked in, and felt the need to come to our table and interrupt our conversation to emphasize we were late for our reservation after we had already apologized… and that is why we will most likely not spend our money here again… we wanted to find something more upscale to be our regular Tuesday date night, and her attitude isn’t that. I am sure she is great with the regulars, but if this is going to be your first time, don’t bother unless you want unpleasant vibes.

This place has great food and is great for any occasion or special event. Our server Colin was great and had some very good recommendations for food. I asked if they had any pasta with a vodka based sauce and he mentioned they can put something together, and it was very good. The starters were okay, but the main courses were all great. All their pastas are good, and their chicken piccata is by far one of the best I’ve ever had. Besides the place being very small and everyone sitting next to each other, the food makes up for it and so does the service. I’ll definitely come again.

Went there to celebrate birthday. Amazing service, beautiful ambiance, great wine selection, and most importantly delicious food. All sauces are homemade. The only challenge is to find a away to improve the ventilation system as every 20-30 minutes we had a wave of the food smell coming out of the kitchen, which is not nice to have stuck on your clothes when you leave. I will defiantly go back after lent to try their meat options.

A Taste of Sicily in the Heart of Michigan. Our experience at Bella Piatti felt like stepping into a trattoria in Sicilia—warm, inviting, and truly authentic. While the food was exceptional, the service was even more impressive, making us feel like honored guests rather than just diners. The visit from the charming owner was the perfect touch, adding to the warmth and hospitality of the evening. Bella Piatti delivers not just a meal, but an unforgettable Italian experience. Grazie mille! We’ll definitely be back.

Google
Our family celebrated my aunt‘s birthday last night at Bella Piatti. We could not have asked for a better place to do it at. The server Michelle was fantastic. The food was out of this world. The owners came around and asked us how everything was. The drinks were excellent. No complaints at all. This restaurant is a must try.

Yelp
Showed up on a Friday night without reservations & luckily for our group we were able to be seated near the bar. The environment felt "Italian authentic" & location was near the bustling downtown Birmingham. I ordered the clams linguine dinner - ohhh yummy. I normally don't like "creamy white sauce" but this was more like a garlic + white wine that was fantastic! I'd order this again in a second. The pasta was al dente - so if you like yours soft, you may want to call this out to your server. The complimentary bread & tapenade plate was such a nice & delicious touch. The tiramisu hit the spot after dinner. It is incredibly large - so you may want to plan to share it.

Yelp
Bella Piatti is a standout in Birmingham! The ambiance is intimate and charming--perfect for a special night out. Service was attentive without being overbearing, and the food was absolutely divine. We ordered the gamberoni di bosco, garganelli alla umbra, and risotto d'asparagi--each dish was full of flavor and cooked to perfection. You can tell everything is made with care and quality ingredients.

Yelp
Visited on a snowy Friday evening with a friend to celebrate my birthday. We were off to a rocky start as we got stuck in snow, arrived 20 mins late and somehow missed calling about the delay in the storm. The lady at the reception reprimanded us for the delay Twice saying she had cancelled our reservation but has a table for us anyway. We knew it was a miss from our end too but felt it could have still been handled more professionally by them. Anyhow! My birthday dinner was salvaged by our awesome server Andrea. She let us settle down, shake off the cold and patiently gave multiple suggestions for the drinks. The drinks menu contains only wine selections but the bartender supplied cocktails on request and I saw many tables ordering those. I ordered lemon-drop martini and my friend whiskey sour, both of which were amazing. For dinner , I ordered the Pollo in Piccata and really loved the lemony potatoes that it comes with. My friend ordered the Orata again on our server's recommendation and devoured it. Our appetizer of Burrata was flavorful. The complimentary bread comes with three dips - garlic, basil pesto and anchovies. While the dips were good , the bread felt a little chewy. The dessert - a bread pudding with chocolate syrup was good in taste but a little hard. It was complimentary for my birthday :) The ambience is very chic and perfect for a date night. All in all it turned out to be a great night , thanks again to delicious entrees and our friendly server.

Yelp
At the risk of making it even harder to get into, I'm in LOVE with Bella Piatti. At BP you enjoy delicious Italian flavors with a modern local twist in a classy & comfortable setting in the hands of pro servers & crew. The puff pastry is a secret standout. Order 2 and keep 1 for yourself. Roasted eggplant rollatini app is the best I ever had - sublimely smoky. Sautéed calamari in red sauce - simply satisfying - especially when you sop up the sauce with the amazing bread. Pasta vongole a 10. Too full for desert but stuffed in the best bread pudding ever. Can't wait to go back!

Yelp
Came afterwork for a quick dinner...food was great...bolognese is notable...turned out to be the server's (SJ - Sarah Jane) first day and couldn't have asked for a better server. I will be back.

Yelp
Just phenomenal. Everything I've tried here is delicious from the shrimp appetizer (a must), calamari, bread and spreads, to the entrees and dessert. They have a variety of pastas but my favorites are the garganelli and the marsala (not on the menu but if you ask for it, they'll make it)! The bread pudding is the best dessert with a side of vanilla ice cream!! Absolutely love it here!

Yelp
It had been a long while since I visited Bella but a friend chose it for her birthday- I'm not sure why I stayed away so long: the Branzino was excellent and the service was always on point Outdoor seating on a beautiful day is a plus but make a reservation as they're usually quite busy

Yelp
This place was located right across from our hotel and we decided to have dinner here. Good thing we called because they said they are a reservation only restaurant, but were able to make a reservation for 8:30pm that night. This place stays busy and apparently a lot of famous people dine here. For appetizer we shared the Involtini Di Melanzane. It was good, but the real star of the show was the Garganelli Alla Umbra. This is probably one of the best pastas I have ever had! It was so delicious. For dessert we opted for the cheesecake and tiramisu. I am usually not a tiramisu person, but I did like this one. I am more of a cheesecake fan and unfortunately didn't care for it here. I would come back in heartbeat for that pasta though. If you order anything from here, order that!

Yelp
We had a reservation and were seated immediately. It is a smaller restaurant but enough room between the tables. They had a nice bread tray with a couple of things to put on it. We ordered the sausage pasta, clam pasta , day boat scallops and lobster with tomato sauce pasta. We added the calamari in tomato sauce which had a nice quantity and interesting taste with wilted spinach and special of the day charcuterie had a nice mix of little cheese cubes and fresh olives, The lobster made a nice presentation and was rated as ok. The sausage pasta had a nice flavor and texture, the clams were a little oily, the scallops were not good- dry, no sauce, overcooked, and there 4 scallops for $45 which include a small piles of salad greens. $10 for a scoop of gelato?? The ricotta cheesecake was nice but there was a drizzle of fruit purée. If you like fruit with cheesecake this is not going to work for you. The wine by the glass was well priced and covered a good number of varieties. Service was friendly and efficient.

Yelp
Unreal restaurant. Located in Birmingham and has outdoor seating in the summer. Fine dining if you will! The food is always delicious with the Italian take on many items. Services is always great. Restaurant is small and have to call to make reservations. Sometimes won't answer your call and you'll have to leave a voicemail, but they will call you back.

Yelp
I've been to Bella Piatti only once before, but just went again recently so I've decided to post a review. I only ordered the Gemelli Al Pomodoro, which was the same thing I ordered when I initially visited. I'm a vegetarian so this is only of the only options I was able to order. But in my opinion, it's very good. It's a very cute spot for a date night. I just think they need to add a few more vegetarian friendly things on their menu; possibly a wider variety of vegetarian pastas.

Yelp
I can't say enough about how fabulous our dinner experience was at Bella Piatti. While visiting the Birmingham area for a quick weekend getaway, we dined here two nights in a row. It was conveniently located across from our hotel. My husband absolutely loved the pork chop and gnocchi. He loved both dishes so much that he ate the exact same thing the second night. The gnocchi was the best I have ever had. The texture and accompanying sauce were divine. I also enjoyed the puff pastry stuffed with Italian sausage, bechamel and truffle served with a little side of fresh baby arugula and shaved fennel. The cauliflower soup they had for Saturday night special was delightful. The food was top notch and all of the staff we encountered were great too. Andrea was our server the first night and Abdi was our server the second night. Both were awesome! Super attentive with pleasant personalities. The hostess, Joy was really nice too as well as Emily. As soon as our water got below a certain level, she was right their with refills with a bright smile. Everyone was very nice and we loved the decor and intimate vibe of the restaurant. We will definitely be back. Kudos to Bella Piatti and their wonderful staff for making our dining experience superb!

Yelp
My husband and I love this place. This was the second year that we celebrated our wedding anniversary here . Everyone is so wonderful and welcoming. The staff is so accommodating. The owners are especially accommodating. I love the ambience. I love the wine list. We will definitely be back.

Yelp
Attentive bartender, though it is clearly for locals. We were bumped from an open spot at at the bar and smooshed against the corner for a "reserved" duo that never showed up. The puréed soup was delicious but had butter. The homemade ricotta was mediocre in that it was somewhat flavorless.

Alina G.

Yelp
Awful and rude customer service not friendly the host is extremely rude and slow. food was wayy to salty and uncooked and the restaurant is very small and crowded. They don't even have there times updated.

Yelp
The ambiance is very relaxed. Kinda makes you feel like you are in Italy. Outstanding service and food is delicious. Strongly recommend this location...

Yelp
How have I never known about this restaurant? I am so happy some friends decided to take us to Bella Piatti! This is a top-notch restaurant with great food, perfect service, and it won't break your bank either. Your meal begins with delicious fresh bread and three different spreads. Roasted garlic, olive tapenade and pimento cheese. For our table, we shared a shrimp and mushroom appetizer that was so tasty we had to get more bread to sop up the sauce with. My husband and I shared a salad which they kindly split into two bowls for us. I appreciated the awesome service. We ordered two of the specials. One was a seared halibut with garlic mashed potatoes and asparagus. The other was a roasted mushroom pasta dish. Both were excellent. Now that I know about this place I will be going back as often as possible. This restaurant is busy for a reason, so make sure you try to make a reservation before you go. Our friends did mention that the patio is first come first served so you could certainly try to get a table out there. I highly recommend eating here if you love Italian food as much as I do.

John C.

Yelp
We needed to make a last minute change to celebrate my wife's birthday. Joy who ! called to get in stated that they were completely booked. However, Joy asked me to call her back the next day, and she was able to get us a table at our desired time. Food was outstanding, service was wonderful. This quaint, romantic place is climbing the list as a favorite of mine.

Yelp
Hadnt been in years before last week, so good. Ordered gnocci app and garganelli, both great. Ricotta cheesecake for dessert but shouldve ordered the recommended bread pudding. Wine was perfect (forgot the name ) and espresso martinis were maybe the best ones Ive had. Shoutout to Carl who brought so much life to our dining experience!

Yelp
Every so often I try this Birmingham Italian restaurant again. It's always packed so it's got to be good right? Average every time including dishes that people rave about. Good Italian food isn't that hard to make but Bella Piatti lacks inspiration.
google avatar

Michael C.

Yelp
This place continues to amaze me. The food and service is spectacular. The patio is first come first serve. A great place to relax and enjoy the atmosphere. We love Carl and his recommendation Make a friend.

Beky B.

Yelp
The gnocchi here is the best you will ever experience. As in I can't even express how pillowy soft, decadent, perfect temperature, fluffy, salty, cheesy, slightly pungent, tomato saucy epic bite you'll enjoy. It's so hard to take it slow -- it's that good. The service is mostly leaves you be unless you flag them down for needing something, which is my preference vs. constantly interruptions. Make a reservation because you won't get in with a walk in. Prices are fair, especially for the quality of the food you're getting. Go... now!
google avatar

Yelp
Food was so amazing. I got veal medallions and my friend got a twist type of noodles with a red sauce and a ricotta cheese. Place was super cute and the server was super helpful! Will be back!!

Yelp
Born and raised until '77 in W. Bloomfield. I love Birmingham. This is now one of my "Top Spots" and we will be sure to come here every time I am back in town We'll sources ingredients, created and prepared masterfully. Our waiter was da Bomb. Attentive, friendly, and extremely knowledgeable, informative, and insightful. He gave us his honest opinion, we followed his lead, and nobody was disappointed! Kudos!!! Our table drank great wine from a limited, but very well thought out wine list. A bit noisy, but lively. Eclectic interior. Festive vibe. Thumbs up! D

Jay D.

Yelp
This is my favorite restaurant in Michigan. Nothing bad to say! I would eat here everyday if I could!
google avatar

Rick G.

Yelp
Quiet, understated and classy restaurant. Very popular by an upscale crowd. The food is impeccable! Everything that was brought to the table was delicious! We had gnocchi appetizers (highly recommended), calamari in a red seafood broth, pork chop, lamb chops and a cod seafood special. All were fantastic! Tiramisu and chocolate cheesecake finished it off. Not for the faint of heart with the wallet but well worth it.

Kahuna S.

Yelp
Love the food and the whole vibe of the place. It's always good and the waiters and host are kind and accommodating. Great management love Joy and Kevin

Yelp
Food is delicious. Great service. Outside seating is fun during season. Inside is fine, but noisy. Love going there.

Yelp
Bella Piatti never disappoints! We always enjoy the intimate atmosphere and excellent menu! Do yourself a favor and give it a shot!

Yelp
The staff was absolutely fantastic when our friend had an emergency health incident here last week. Thank you to all of you. We are sorry to have missed our meal of the best Italian food in the area. We'll be back soon.

Yelp
My husband and I came here for the first time for our anniversary. Everything was perfect...the ambiance / decor, the service, our wonderful server Carl and the exceptional food. He told us a little background of the restaurant and head chef and the pure dedication and love for authentic Italian cuisine showed through in everything. Definitely not your standard Italian restaurant. It's a step above and more. We're looking forward to coming back and bringing our friends and family.

Yelp
Phenomenal restaurant, impeccable service, and one of the best atmospheres to be in. We dined her for a birthday celebration and they really made it a night to remember. I really recommend making reservations in advance because you probably won't get a seat without one. The burrata was absolutely perfect and super fresh. I can't remember the name of the pasta I had ordered but I do remember it being one of the specials for the night. It was to die for and I ate every last bite. The Shrimp Mushroom Marasala had the perfect flavor to it. I definitely recommend ordering it. This place is a one of a kind Italian restaurant in the heart of Birmingham and it will not disappoint!!

Yelp
Some coworkers and I came here today for Birmingham Restaurant Week. We take RW's very seriously and I like doing the research for them before we go, but Bella Piatti was this year's winner (mostly due to its dessert option, since tiramisu is one of my favorites). I had never been before and the company where a friend works always does their company Christmas party here and she dislikes the food ... however, due to their 4-star Yelp review, I wanted to try it. Since it's such a cold day today (-13 when I woke up, brr!) I started off with some rooibos tea, and it was served very nicely - an individual cup of honey, my own teapot, and some lemons on the side, too. A coworker friend got milk with hers, as well. For my first course, I chose the Italian wedding soup, and it was delicious; I hadn't had it in a long time. I had the linguine with pesto for my main entree, and it was good, although I have had better. For dessert, the tiramisu was very tasty. My only small complaint is that the waitservice was a little slow, but I think this is the type of restaurant where they want you to relax and take your time enjoying your meal, so that's probably why. Definitely would recommend Bella Piatti and hopefully will come back at some point to try more of their menu. They sat us at this big round table (we had 4 people, it seats 5 people though) in the midst of the restaurant, also, and it has netting around it, and felt very private, which I liked.
google avatar

Laurel R.

Yelp
Dined in this very busy, small and hard-to-hear establishment on a Tuesday evening. Bread service included stale sliced bread with three spreads. Unfortunately, it was 30 minutes from the time we sat until we received the beverages we ordered. Both entrees were tasty, especially the Scallops. The Veal Scallopini entree was oversauced and lacking color, (wish it had the small fennel salad the scallops had to bring the dish some acidity), and became a one-note wonder after a few bites. The potatoes underneath needed salt, but no salt was to be found on the table. However, other plates look far more visibly appealing as they went by and you could tell the place was full of regulars.
google avatar

Sel S.

Yelp
Love this place!! Every aspect, from the food to the service is always amazing! I've never once been disappointed with my experience here. Our go-to dinner spot in bham :) (Ask for Karl, he's the best!!)
google avatar

Susan S.

Yelp
So it's a little unadventurous when it comes to the menu, but they know their crowd and how to cater to them. Every time I go, we belly up at the bar. Best way to experience this otherwise crammed space.

P S.

Yelp
Small but comfortable. Was very busy but the staff was well equipped to handle the load. Food was tasty and well presented.
google avatar

Kevin K.

Yelp
Truffle oil pasta with Italian sausage was a little pricey however it was worth it. Didn't care to much for the calamari though. The service was perfect , however the restaurant was small, but I guess every restaurant in Birmingham is that size.
google avatar

Mustafa A.

Yelp
This place really does live up the hype of it all, and I highly recommend calling ahead of time to book a dinner. For an even more convenient dinner time consider booking a few days ahead as they are normally very busy. They are open during this COVID-19 pandemic- reinforcing what I said earlier, call ahead of time to eat here!! The wait staff is friendly and helpful until the very end. Starting your dinner you are served complimentary home-made bread with olives, garlic, and butter that has you asking for more and more- haha don't hesitate to ask for more. They serve a variety of drinks at the bar but their actual dining menu is limited in my respected opinion. As you will see from my order, portion sizes are smaller than what you expect when eating at this high end restaurant. The Order (Refer to pictures): Garganelli Alla Umbra (will try something else in the future), Marsala Tiger Shrimp (amazing), and Linguine Con Pesto (I order this every time).
google avatar

Jocelyn D.

Yelp
Did not care for this restaurant at all. The calamari was inedible, like rubber bands with tasteless tomato sauce on it. Salads did not have all the ingredients listed on the menu. Tomatoes would have been ripe in about a week Added protein was four bites. Waitstaff was curt. Would not return
google avatar

Jacqueline M.

Yelp
Located in downtown Birmingham, a charming restaurant with Italian cuisine. Bella offers delicious food in a cozy atmosphere. We had the swordfish, steak and pasta. All cooked to perfection. And the bread pudding was the prefect dessert. The staff is friendly and makes you feel at home. Our waitress was amazing. Service was impeccable. Great Saturday evening dinner vibe.

Yelp
A one of a kind little Italy located in Birmingham. Phenomenal restaurant, great service, wonderful staff. Was truly an experience. This was my first time here and Andrea our server was knowledgeable and delightful. Coming back for New Year's Eve. Cannot wait.!

Yelp
This is one of my top 3 places to dine, ever. Remember to call and reserve a table or try your luck at the bar early. They are always busy and for good reason! The food is impeccable. Even the small dishes (antipasti) are wonderful. Two favorites; in the colder months lamb ragu or lamb shank, rich and satisfying. Warmer months the Sea Bass. The Sea Bass we had was in a lemon broth with tiny pea shoots. It was so delicate, buttery texture and cooked to perfection. Have never had Sea Bass as good anywhere. Service is top notch. The staff will go above and beyond to be sure your having a good experience. Owners will visit you too. Being that it is across from our local premier hotel, be ready to get surprise visits from celebrities in town or local celebs. See you soon to share a bottle of cake bread and the chef's stop evening special. You cannot go wrong choosing this local favorite to dine.

James P.

Yelp
Bella Piatti is situated in beautiful downtown Birmingham across the street from The Townsend Hotel. The quaint location offered indoor and outdoor seating, and we were glad we made reservations. Dinner started with an antipasto that included some great cheeses, italian meats and cheeses, mediterranean olives, and preserved mushrooms. Coupled with a bread basket it was a great accompaniment for a bottle of Nero D'avola, Motyum, Terre Siciliana (2019). For our main courses we went with linguini with clams in a white sauce, and Orecchiette Con Rapini - a Pugliese round pasta, pancetta, rapini, extra-virgin olive oil, garlic, and crushed red pepper. Both were amazing! For desert we shared the ricotta cheese cake which was light and delicious. We look forward to our next chance to dine at Bella Piatti!

Yelp
Oh what a night! I don't know where to begin, but Bella Piatti is amazing. This was a special evening for us and Bella Piatti made it a night to remember. Located in the heart of downtown Birmingham, Bella Piatti sits on a quaint street across from the Townsend where we began our evening. We walked over to Bella, guided by the twinkling of soft lights welcoming us. We were pleasantly surprised with overall decor, simply charming. We had reservations, which I recommend. I couldn't believe how busy it was for a Wednesday evening. We were greeted by Carl, who was fantastic. He was so knowledgeable about the menu. He offered several suggestions on the menu. We ordered a bottle of wine to enjoy with our meals. The Shrimp Mushroom Marsala appetizer was unbelievable. We could have ordered several of these just for the sauce....trust me, you want to order this. My friend ordered the Branzino for his main course, which was delicious. We both agreed that it needed some type of sauce to add some moisture to the dish, but the flavor was great. I ordered the Truffle Pasta with Sausage and it was excellent. I highly recommend this dish. We finished our evening with an Espresso Martini and Bread Pudding. The gelato that accompanied our dessert was so creamy and delicious. I think I was able to sneak in a bite before my friend stole the entire bowl. haha He said it was the best gelato he's ever eaten. The gelato is actually from Italy....mmmmmmm so good! There were several other dishes that I want to try and I'm looking forward to coming back to Bella Piatti. If you are looking for fantastic service, a romantic evening, and delicious food, Bella Piatti is the spot for you.

Yelp
I had a very nice experience serving dinner at this restaurant. I called before coming in to ask if a reservation is needed and the hostess was very friendly and invited me to arrive before 10pm when the kitchen is closing. When I arrived, I was sitted outside on the deck with a wonderful art gallery as my view, the decor felt cozy and european. My server - James was very prepared. He let me know of their specials and did not rush me to choose due to kitchen closing in 20 min. He was very respectful and observant, checking in and being very pleasant as a presence. The food was tasty and satisfactory. I served pasta with eggplant and garlic. I had a wonderful night and I felt like I was back home in Europe. Thank you for the experience!

Yelp
I came in tonight because my friend and I were craving Italian food. I hadn't been here in a couple of years. Although the food has always been phenomenal, I have never had a good experience with the wait staff and service. In the past I was obsessed with a tagliatelle pasta with peas and I was disappointed that it wasn't being offered anymore. I've always loved the olive spread here and the bread is always really good. I also tried the red pepper butter and it was very good too. This was brought out almost instantly after we were seated. The waiter took a while to come to our table and although he was very kind, the service was extremely slow. We were constantly left wondering when he would come back and our waters were not being filled. As an appetizer we decided to go with the tiger shrimp, which included mushrooms in a creamy sauce. This was so delicious, probably the best dish of the night. As an entree I ordered the garganelli pasta. I don't eat processed meat, therefore I removed the sausage and replaced it with mushrooms. I would have replaced it with shrimp, however we had shrimp in our appetizer. I added a lot of parmesan on top. The mushroom was a great addition to the pasta, probably because I love mushrooms. This pasta dish was not as fulfilling as the one they had previously. After all of this food, I was extremely full. It was very hot and the previous food felt very heavy. We wanted something light to aid with this and decided to go with the vanilla bean gelato. We asked the waiter to surprise us and he brought some chocolate sauce on the side that I (slightly) drizzled on top. It was pretty good, nothing special. Overall, the food was really good. The service was lacking greatly. In the past I had trouble with waiters not being very friendly or being deceiving. This time the waiter was extremely kind, however not very attentive to our table.
