The food was really good, the portion very generous and the service kind enough (it depends who did you speak to: Sandy was particularly kind). I don’t think it is an “authentic” Italian restaurant, though (none of the people we spoke to was). We had a starter, a main, a dessert and a drink and we spent around £50 each.

I booked a large party reservation (18) for my birthday and had the best afternoon. The food was amazing (massive portions) and the service was excellent. Large resturant bookings can be such a faff but Bella Vita made the whole process seamless. It was my first time visiting, and I will definitely be back. Thank you so much for making my afternoon so special!

Great gluten free options. Got both the gf pasta & pizza. Pasta was well cooked, good portion and great flavour (I got the seafood ‘de mare’). Our server gave a great recommendation on the pizza choice to aid with the slightly dryer gluten free dough - which wasn’t an issue at all it’s nice to know she had an opinion on it and it helped. Chicken milanese wasn’t amazing but still good. £5 sparkling water & £4 for a soft drink is a bit steep but given the area and the atmosphere it’s understandable.

Google
Amazing food and service!! Lauren was particularly attentive. My niece had the most wonderful birthday! And I had the most amazing gluten free pasta. We will certainly be back. Thanks so much!

Our third visit to Bella Vita this week! We’re traveling, and Laureu always welcomes us with a smile — she’s super kind and we love her service. It’s a shame we’re leaving; we’d come every day if we could! Bella Vita is the best Italian restaurant we’ve ever tried

Ayo is the man! From the moment we sat down, he made us feel welcome and looked after us like VIPs. Friendly, attentive, and full of positive energy – nothing was too much trouble. He had great recommendations, kept everything flowing smoothly, and genuinely made the whole experience better. If you’re lucky enough to get Ayo as your waiter, you’re in for a great time!

Really nice food and atmosphere. I came to eat on my own and the staff were very nice and hospitable especially Sandy. Thank you and I will visit again!

Yelp
In town on holiday. Looking for a local restaurant for a family outing. We arrived and were greeted with a smile and were sitting right away. The food came out timely and was delicious. Our server was polite and attentive. Overall, our dining experience was outstanding.

Yelp
I go through stages in life when I crave a certain thing. At the moment it's pizza, so when moving to my new area I pounced upon Bella Vita. Maybe it was the rushed trip at 4.30pm to Ikea, or maybe it was the 8 hours spent with my parents or it could have also possibly been the fact we hadn't eaten in over 6 hours, but... This is some damn tasty pizza. A super thin crust and fresh hand made dough make this place a dream. Family friendly ( well mum and dad friendly that is), and a whole section of alfresco eating. The pizza selection is fabulous too, with over seven different types that veggies could choose from. I'm so glad it's so close. I'm going to become a regular here.

Yelp
Very good experience. We ordered the Americana and Margherita pizzas, which were quite large for one person, but reasonably priced at £7.5 and 9 each). The atmosphere was casual, with indoor and outdoor seating available, and even a partial car on the wall! The music was a little odd at times, quick tempo contemporary, which didn't quite match the decor. There were also a few flies or gnats inside. I'm not sure whether it was just our table near the window, but a little off putting. Overall a good experience, though.

Yelp
Quite disappointed in both the food and the service for such a quaint looking restaurant. It took 15 minutes to place my order. Lasagna was served while sizzling. Burnt all throughout the top and the sauce was splashing out on my lap. Took 10 more min to cool down and then taste terrible. The focaccia I ordered as a starter came out after the lasagna. Another table next to me asked for napkins three times and the server was visibly annoyed, stormed over, and then asked 'What?!'. . Overall, I've been sitting here stairing at Franco Manca across the street and wishing I went there instead.

Yelp
That mushroom tagliatelle though. Exquisite, I couldn't help myself from eating bite after bite. My glass of syrah was also delicious which was an added bonus. The summer outdoor dining here is unreal. Plenty of tables lining the sidewalk and a totally open restaurant feel and vibe. They even make vegan pizza!

Yelp
Cool place, great food (pizza), relaxed staff and prices ok for London. I've been there 4 times this year and the food is always tasteful. The staff is quick and friendly and you can have a great time.

Yelp
Amazingly, they were able to accommodate our walk-in party of 8 people on a Friday night. The food was hearty and tasty. I had the lasagna which was perfect given how cold it was outside.

Yelp
I think this is a great little Italian restaurant. Gets pretty busy, pizza is really nice and not too expensive (thin crust, nice simple toppings, just the way I like it!). I have a hard time paying for Italian food when you can make alot of the dishes yourself for nexty to nothing, but I do like this restaurant. Staff are really friendly, there is a nice mixed crowd there and they deliver through 'My salivation delivers'!

Yelp
Happy pizza :) The service was speedy, the pizza was pretty good and I was left happy and full. It was pretty busy, so we squished onto a teeny table. The waiter brought us a whole bottle of wine when we ordered half (we figured this was a sign that we should drink more, so we didn't complain.) They also forgot to bring us the olives we ordered. Sooo...the service wasn't amazing, but it's still not a bad little place. Other people in the area must agree as it was full to the brim!!

Yelp
Reasonably sized quaint restaurant. Decor a little down at heal, but full of character nonetheless. Menu is reasonably priced and the pizza's conform to a hand spun reasonably thin crust style. Offers a takeaway service too.
google avatar

Yelp
I had the seafood pasta dish that wasn't bad. You can see from my pictures that our party ordered a variety of dishes, ranging from fish to pizza to pasta. Overall, my party thought that the food was pretty good, but I can only comment on the seafood fettuccine. Although the pasta was cooked well, I thought it could've used more sauce; it quickly went dry after I started eating it. Other than that, the service was fine and the atmosphere lively (it was a bit congested though).
google avatar

Pete G.

Yelp
Overall I would say decent Italian food. I had the mushroom and gnocchi and enjoyed it. The meat was not great but the sauce and the pasta were great. I didn't eat the pizza but the thin crust pizza did look tasty. Service was good. I went on a Tuesday and everything was 30% off which was great and made the food very nicely priced. Good deal.

Yelp
HORRIBLE SERVICE. 0 STARS. Waited over 40 minutes for main after our appetizer and said it was because they didn't put the order in because they didn't notice we had finished our Apps even tho we ordered it all at the same time... My avocado, mozza and tomato salad which was supposed to be served with olive oil wasn't so it was just like they sliced it up and threw on the plate, had to ask for EVOO. The food wasn't very good and we asked for a discount for the trouble since we were there almost 2 hrs for a VERY easy order and an Incomplete dish and they said it "couldn't be done". REALLY? Couldn't be done? Save your money and time and go to the pizza place across the street Franco Manca.

J T.

Yelp
I've been coming here for years now and every visit is equally amazing. I am always tempted when I go there to have something else as they have an large choice, but I just cannot refrain from the pizzas, They are simply the best I've ever tried (and i've been to rome). You get a proper sized pizza unlike the new place across the road where the offer sizes wouldn't even feed a pauper. They also do great pastas and always have great looking specials which are displayed on the specials broad. The staff are all Italian and extremely friendly and always smiling. This is a must if you find your self in the Hackney area :))

Yelp
Worst service I ever had: don't trust this good looking place on Broadway market. Pizza was awful, pasta was overcooked and full of cream, service was rude and manager excuse was even worst. Definitely avoid!
google avatar

Ellie K.

Yelp
Yeah, it's nice and stuff. The food here. The atmosphere. The staff. But not amazing. My pizza was nice. But just nice. I wanted so much more from it, all the ingredients were great, just together they didn't leave much of an impression. Don't know why though. The spag bol was fine. The service was super quick. The merlot was kind of blah/urgh. I'd come back, but think there are better Italian restaurants in the area.

Yelp
We ordered two starters to share (Focaccia Al Rosmarino and Antipasto Verdure) and then two portions of Ravioli Agli Spinaci. Nothing was bad, but nothing was exceptional either (I'm Italian, maybe I have high standards for Italian cuisine!). Had some red wine, too, which was a bit anonymous. Service was alright: there was a new waiter who didn't exactly know much about the menu, but I can't blame him (he was very sweet and was always courteous and quick!).

Yelp
A cheap and cheerful Italian on prime East London real estate that does away with the pretension of some of its neighbours. So the decor is a little clichéd (really, think every Italian cliché going), but the service is so warn and the food so good and simple that it more than makes up for it. Speaking of the service, when we told the waitress that we had a birthday at the table she really went all out. A "special"cake was brought over. A rather naughtily shaped cake... which then had cream squirted all over it for good measure. To top it off, one of the waiters plopped some pizza dough on the birthday girl's head and then casually walked away. Pretty strange, but fun.

Yelp
Ate here last week with my mother in law and 2 month old baby. The ambience was bustling-and it was a weekday lunchtime! The lunch menu v good value-had mushroom risotto and it was gorgeous. Staff were attentive once we had ordered and the food came. Staff were initially a bit unhelpful in allocating an appropriate table as we had a pram with us and we're quite taken aback when I said we didn't want a highcair, we wanted to keep the pram nearby and when we declined to order from the kids menu for my 2 month old baby. I would eat here again- it is busy on weekends, always packed!

Yelp
This could be the best place for lunch in East London. Decent food, unpretentious atmosphere and incredible prices. Lovely interior with an open kitchen. Don't bother with the new Franco Manca across the road, same old boring style over substance.

Yelp
Service was warm and friendly. Bread was fresh, and the wine menu extensive, with waiting staff happy to advise. Pizza had a nice base - not too thick, nor too thin. Well-seasoned. Good dough. My brother had a fish-dish. Fresh-tasting. Everything well-priced. Highly recommended.

Yelp
Nice atmosphere. The pizza menu wasn't of a large variety but with adding/removing some ingredients it was what i wanted and they didn't make a fuzz about it. The pizza itself was handmade and OK but not cooked to excellency for my personal taste. A bit burnt on the sides. The ambience was enjoyable and the staff friendly. I'd probably try another italian next time but if friends were going, I'd definitely go again to try some of their salads which looked amazing!

Yelp
Went here on Sunday, first time I've been since it's been done up. Seems a lot more impersonal since the take over, but food is still amazing. I would definitely recommend the tagliatelle con pollo!

Yelp
Nice food but service is very 'relaxed' waited 20 mins to be served coffee. Ended up walking out... Shame with better management could be sublime little pizzeria. Give it a go in 2011 I expect good things then.

Yelp
We came here for lunch on a busy Saturday but the service didn't slip at all. Our pizza and pasta dishes were really nice, friendly service and good atmosphere. A nice place to pop in for a break from the hustle and bustle of the market.

Yelp
Went here on Saturday afternoon for a late lunch. We wernt very impressed. The restaurant wasn't that busy but the service was very slow, and the waitress was kind of rude, like she just couldn't be bothered. Also none of the staff seemed to speak very good English, and the place was lacking in atmosphere. The food was okay, I had a pizza and my friend had cannelloni, but it wasn't great and the pizza was quite cold. Overall I think we would have been better getting something nice from the Market for a fraction of the price! I won't be going Back to this place.

Yelp
We ordered pizza takeaway from their delivery partner www.dine-in.com The pizza arrived in 35 min (we do live close) and was soooo good. Pizza was so much better then those fast food takeaway pizzas you get. Thin crust, great sauce, and the seafood pizza was filled with different types of seafood. The restaurant got our extra requireements for the pasta and so all in all we were very happy. Warm tasty italian for cold winter nights. brilliant. Will order again.

Yelp
Very poor service. I had to wait for water for about 20 min. I had loads of broken pieces of shell in my pasta, it felt like eating my food with small rocks. All waiters running around all the time in stress and panic without a reason, not calm and pleasant athmosphere.

Yelp
Walking past this very busy pasta place, often with people queuing for tables on the weekend, you would naturally assume that the pizza here is amazing. Two words of advise......think again! Bella Vita opened just over six months ago, and living in the area, my boyfriend and I were one of the fist people to check it out. The experience on our first visit was "mediocre" to say the least and we left feeling quite disappointed. However keen to give the place another try, we went back a few weeks later and this was the final nail in the coffin. After booking a table in the day, we turned up in the evening to be told that they did not take bookings, and that we would have to wait in the queue!!!! Already annoyed, we were eventually sat ( squeezed into ) our table for two, which was literally touching the two other couples tables sat either side of us. The restaurant was so busy, resulting from the owners greed to simply squash as many punters in as humanly possible, that the service can only be compared (at best) to that of a fast food chain. The food ( which I complained about twice ) was also atrocious. My pizza topping looked like it has been thrown on, and according to Bella Vita adding two tiny scraps of (Ice cold!!!!) Ricotta, constituted calling it a Florentina Pizza. To add insult to injury, the waiter managed to spill a full glass of wine all over us, whilst trying to squeeze past us. His reaction was not to apologise, but simply laughed, thinking it was quite funny!! We complained, and told the manager that we would not be going again and how disappointed we were, as we had come again really wanting to like the place, and to support a local business. What a shame that sheer greed has made , what could be a charming pizzeria, nothing but a dressed up fast food joint on all levels. Broadway markets businesses thrive on local custom and word of mouth. If you are looking for totally impersonal service, average foods and the sense that the owners care much more about lining their pockets than the customer dining experience, then I would say this place is for you. Absolutely terrible , will never go ever go again.

Yelp
I was here visiting London for a few days before flying out to Budapest, I found this place by accident. Not only did I find the restaurant, but I found a wonderful neighborhood. It was filled with pubs, a bookstore, and lots of other cute restaurants. It was hard finding a restaurant that would be open around 10:30pm, but we made it just in time before they closed. The service greeted us right away and told us they would be closing soon, but was even more amazing was that, they did not rush us whatsoever. Three servers came to serve us, got my drinks and got our food out just in time. Not only was the food very tasty and the wine, but we got a complimentary shot at the end purchased by other customers and I ordered one more for our waiter to join us. This was a very affordable meal and a great atmosphere to be at. So glad I found this place. When I come back to London, I will definitely be coming back here. Highly recommend and Salute!

Hayley S.

Yelp
Worst ever Italian restaurant I have had the disappointment of eating at. I can cook better than the chef's and that is saying something. I ordered a chicken dish with cream sauce, it arrived with what can only be described as chicken with whole block of melted cathedral city cheese on top. My boyfriends pasta was bland and had hardly any sauce. Staff were rude too. Don't go.

Anna D.

Yelp
Best pizza around at good prices! It gets quite busy but service is quick. - have been here many times. Boyfriend has celiac disease so can't have pizza but they do some nice risottos so if you're with someone needing gluten free options they are available!

Alexander T.

Yelp
This place could be a little gem, with it's location in Broadway Market, and with no other Italian restaurant nearby. Unfortunately, everything is spoilt by the owners greed and "pack 'em in" mentality. I've eaten here with my girlfriend twice. The first time was pretty average, with the service being a little on the poor side, the food ok, so we decided to go back and give it another go. Oh dear! We popped in during the day time and booked a table. Then, when we arrive later in the evening we are told that they don't take bookings, and we will have to wait in the queue!! Not a good start. It was Saturday night, and we were hungry, so we waited. 15 - 20 mins later we were ushered to our table for 2...which was essentially a table for 8 as all the tables were nearly touching. I had to go around the other side of the restaurant to get to my seat. Not going too well really, but we're in, we're seated. Now for some pizza. We eventually get some service and order. Just before our pizza turns up, one of the waiters tried to get through the miniscule gap in the tables and knocked over our drinks. Ok an accident maybe - but the tables are PACKED TOO CLOSE TOGETHER!! Drinks are replaced obviously, but evening getting worse. When the pizza does arrive, mine is ok, nothing more. My girlfriend's is not ok. A couple of tiny pieces of ICE COLD Ricotta in the centre of the pizza is deemed as acceptable apparently. We mention this is not, and the pizza is taken away begrudgingly, to be returned just in time for me finishing mine, and a few more pieces of Ricotta have been added, still ICE COLD. That was it for our evening there. My girlfriend had a word with the manager, trying to explain that this is all brought on because there are WAY too many people in the restaurant, and that as a consequence - service and quality are suffering. Manager waives the bill, which was something, but we definitely will NOT be going back. As I have mentioned - this place could really be something great, but suffers badly with service and quality due to the owners greed. If you like being packed in like sardines, poor service, mediocre food - then this is the place for you. Just how badly do you want that pizza?
google avatar

Yelp
If you want huge portions, great taste and great value - visit Bella Vita. An authentic, expansive menu, skip the starters and go straight to the pasta and pizza. Massive thin crispy bases, and huge bowls. The prawn creamy linguine was brilliant and the staff boxed up what I couldn't finish. The service wasn't great to begin with - slow taking our order, lack of attention etc - but it was a busy early sunday evening. We actually had a ridiculously loud, obnoxious bunch of women sitting next to us who were so loud I thought of walking out - everyone was staring at them and they didn't care. Whilst we were waiting for our order I asked if we could be seated somewhere else, and although the restaurant was packed, the head waiter moved a couple of things the other side of the room around and discreetly whisked us off. This was brilliant and we were so grateful, and then had a lovely time. This level of customer service made me sure I'd visit again.
