Bellamy Lawrence Animal Hospital, newly opened. Where do I start.? With BLAH as its initials I should have thought this through. It was recommended because the fees are pretty low. and the service is supposed to be good, which is what I needed for my two new Balinese kitten siblings who were going to need a second booster shot. Never mind that the contact form I submitted specifically said the kittens were just dewormed a week before, and I was responded what the cost to deworm them is. Not sure why. But let me start with the Vet, I have no idea whether he was a student or an actual vet based on how he carried himself, he appeared to have little confidence in his ability to discuss matters with me, or the vaccination with the kittens. The first kitten was done, then the second one, who is normally calm was moving a bit and the vaccination sprays on my face, my shirt and into my mouth. not a good start, even mentioning it to the vet, he said nothing. his demeanour was not one of caring, but one of rushing to get the work done, and then moving onto the next patient. The cat had blood on its fur from being punctured with the needle. another not good sign. he poured some sanitizer in my hands but did not tell me what I was to do with it, was it for me, for me to hold the cat? he did not explain anything he was going to do or what I should do. I had to repeat each time, What is this for? what am I doing, you are not telling me what to do, this so-called vet either assumed that as a new pet owner I would know what I am doing, or he just does not know what he is doing. either way, this is not what I call a good start for a first experience at this new clinic.
The treatment was done, I went out to reception to pay and mentioned the spraying in my mouth of the vaccine, her response was, there wouldn't be enough. that's her response, she is not a vet and her assessment is there is not enough? strike three, they are done. I will never return to this incompetent place again. I expect pets to have a place of comfort and especially proper care. I know tending to their health from a stranger can be a bit unnerving and scary, but I would also expect that my concern would be taken more serious when I mentioned that the vaccines was sprayed into my mouth. The vaccine may cause no real danger to my health, but the dismissive nature of the receptionist, the the "vets" inability to give any response at all to what happened is enough of a concern that the upcoming spay and neuter is something I would not even consider to be done from the Bellamy Lawrence Animal Hospital.
Back to searching for another caring, competent and affordable Vet clinic which actually cares about the experience for the pets and their owners, and not just how much repeat business they can get, and how many bags of poor quality animal food they can sell off their shelves.
For a first experience, this is definitely one I won't forget and will repeat to people considering this place. This is my experience. It may not be yours, but if you are ever questioning the care of your furry fiends or how the clinic treats you and responds to your concerns let me suggest you find another place to go, just like I am going to do.
