Austin Daily Press Brings Tortas and Beer to Govalle | Eater Austin

"Run by head baker Rachel Bach, this bakery operates a stall at the Pedernales Farmers’ Market at Pizzeria Sorellina in Spicewood and will also be based inside the restaurant's new East Cesar Chavez location to bake telera rolls for tortas in addition to pastries, baked goods, and desserts." - Nadia Chaudhury

I was in Mt. Kisco and craving a good bagel, so after a quick Google search, I found this spot. They’ve since closed their downstairs storefront and now operate upstairs, mainly catering. The setup was easy enough to find, but the overall vibe felt a little limited. I ordered a sourdough bagel with cream cheese and a plain croissant. Both were okay — fresh, toasted, and crispy (maybe a little too toasted). The croissant was huge, which was a nice surprise, but it wasn’t buttered, which I definitely prefer. I also wish they had more bagel options available when I went, and I’m personally not a fan of applying my own cream cheese — part of the bagel experience for me is having it done for you. It also seems like the only add-on option now is cream cheese, which is a little disappointing if you’re hoping for a full sandwich or variety. On the plus side, there’s parking right outside, which is always appreciated. Overall, it wasn’t a bad experience, just not great either. I might give it another try someday, but it’s not at the top of my list.

Google
Fantastic bakery, and they brew Atomic coffee which is fabulous. Sourdough bagels (everything and plain) are everything you want in a sourdough bagel - chewy and flavorful. “Cro-Bel” sandwich was tasty and generous portions. The prices are on the higher side, but reasonable and I suspect is a reflection of the area and rents to run an independent shop.l in Westchester. Well worth every penny, everything is thoughtful and perfectly executed. Will be visiting again!

Google
I love Bella’s Bake Shop! Their pastries, cookies and bagels are amazing. Everything is delicious, but I am partial to the raspberry white chocolate chip cookies, cinnamon buns, crème brûlée croissants, and everything sour dough bagels. The recently opened cafe is lovely and the folks who work there are wonderful!

Very cute bake shop with great service and nice selection of treats for breakfast as well as delicious pastries. Lots of seats and a nice calm/relaxed vibe.

Google
That crookie! Goodness gracious. When you want both a croissant and a chocolate-chip cookie, this big fat crookie gives you all. The cookie inside tastes like the cookie dough you’d lick off a bowl, divine, soooo delicious. Got the chocolate lava croissant as well which was great, but outshone by the crookie. Can’t wait to come back for their homemade breads and more baked goods. 5 stars!!!

WOW 🤩 I have to say the croissants at Bella’s are undoubtedly the best croissants I have ever tasted. I am having a delicious cappuccino and the “crookie” right now and highly recommend both. Can’t wait to try the sourdough bread!

Google
Bella’s Bake Shop is like a trip to the best French bakery but in our local town. As a French person, their baguettes and croissants are on par with the best bakeries in Paris paired with a perfectly brewed cappuccino that takes you back to your favorite city coffee shop. We are so fortunate to have their bake shop and I look forward to eating their breads and cookies throughout the holidays! Thank you for being in our community.

Google
Our family is a big fan of this delicious bakery. There is always inviting aroma of freshly baked goods. Their selection is fantastic, from the soft, flaky croissants to the rich, decadent desserts. I tried their cinnamon rolls, white chocolate and raspberry cookies, both items were heavenly. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable, offering great recommendations. So happy this place is close to my home.

Yelp
If you don't start salivating when you open the door I might question whether or not you are alive. All the baked goods look amazing. My fiancé and I specifically ordered the "CRO-BEC", a bacon, egg, and cheese croissant, and everything sourdough bagel, and a couple coffees. I had the bacon, egg, and cheese, which was made with a fresh cooked egg, which you do not often find these days, with just the right amount of bacon and cheese stuffed in one of their beautifully flakey fresh baked croissants. I will be craving this sandwich for some time to come! My fiancé's everything sourdough bagel was everything a bread lover loves about a bagel and sourdough. It was so flavorful she hesitated putting cream cheese on it. The coffee they serve is from Atomic Coffee Roasters, which never disappoints. It's smooth, flavorful, and for folks that are sensitive to acidic things that trigger heartburn (me...) you will not have an issue. I always drink my coffee black but I'm sure I'd be just as good with stuff in it. All in all, if you are in the area and like bread, pastries, or a good cup of coffee, you should make sure you stop in. FYI, most navigation apps will direct you to the front of the building, but swing around to the back and you will find a parking lot with spacious parking and the entrance to their shop.

Yelp
I stopped by Bella's Bake Shop with my boyfriend around noon and was able to snag the last Dubai chocolate croissant. It was soo good! I would suggest getting here earlier as a lot of the pastries were sold out. My boyfriend got the cinnamon pull apart bread and that was just as delicious! The cashier was very sweet, welcoming and quirky. The shop is kind of small but has a few tables for dining in. I can't wait to try some of their other pastries.

Yelp
Me and my family have been here a few times and the food is always amazing and innovative! Recently I had colleagues traveling in from out of town and Bella's was able to accommodate my order, even on their day off. The customer service is amazing and a colleague from the UK said their cookie croissant was the best pastry they have ever had in the US!

Yelp
This is a really cute bake shop. They have a lot of really nice items that look absolutely delicious. They have a little section where you can get a salad a smaller section of different type of macaroons they make and then a whole wall full of homemade bread and Amish goods. They also have a nice little section of tea, which I was pleasantly surprised at and excited to try one of them they are popular brand a type of green tea actually taste really good. With that said the only thing about this place was the prices were a little high for my liking. One single macaroon was three dollars and change. I felt like that was a lot for a single macaroon. Also a single pastry tree is six dollars and change not saying that it wouldn't be worth it but that's still a lot for one single pastry. They also don't make any cakes or pies. It's just pastries and bagels. I haven't tried their bagels yet. I most certainly will go back to try them as they did look really good. The server that was there was very knowledgeable in all the stuff that was there and helped us out when we couldn't find a price on a single item. Aside from that it's all like a really nice place to sit and drink a cup of tea and maybe have a little pastry. I just wish the prices weren't so high for single items

Yelp
I made it!! Juuuust in time to grab a sliced sourdough loaf!! 3:55 (They had me at Sliced...!) Absolutely?? Amazing! Light? "Holey"? Perfect texture & sour as well! Now I know what everyone is raving about - This Chefs got a SERIOUS bread-game going on there...

Yelp
So the new version of cinnamon croissant bun is waaay better and crispy, with the cream cheese frosting (vs the cinnamon based icing), now it's definitely ranked up to 4/5 for me. Or of all the croissants I've had, matcha one still reigns supreme. Still looking for it (seems like only weekend offering), so if you like matcha, come on weekends! 5/5 for the supreme croissant sandwich with smoked salmon, avocado and cream cheese. The good thing about this savory version is that it doesn't sit in filling gaining moisture, so the texture is super crispy (especially as it's toasted to order). Love the crunchy buttery everything supreme croissant as a sandwich bread. Knocks out the other items! For sweet supreme croissants, pistachio is currently my favorite. Tried the crullers today: super eggy and not too sweet! There's vanilla and chocolate, both good. We also got to sample the raspberry white chocolate chip cookies which are really good texture and sweetness level (I'm usually not a white chocolate chip cookie fan, but this one is good because you have some tartness offsetting the sweet). Bought some macarons to bring home to try with the kids.

Yelp
I love croissants and I have been trying out croissants from many bakeries in CT and NY/NYCI had Bella's Bake Shop saved for a while and finally got a chance to try it out. The pastries are beautiful and there was a good variety. I tried the 3 classic croissants, plain, almond, and chocolate. I have to say, the plain croissant was one of the best I've tried. It was so soft with beautiful lamination with flaky exterior. The flavor was a good balance of subtle sweetness and just enough butteriness. The chocolate croissant was good but not my favorite compared to others I've tried. It was again beautiful but the exterior had a slightly tart glaze which threw me off a bit. It was still delicious. The almond croissant was good, it wasn't overly sweet but the almond filling was pretty minimal compared to others i've tried (could be a good thing or not a great thing depending on your preference). Otherwise, the bakery had macarons, sourdough loafs, and bagels which looked good! I will definitely be back to try out some more things!

Yelp
Such great treats and baked goods Picked up some fresh bread and a vanilla croissant and macaroons. Its hard to find bc its inside of a medical building and doesnt have that typical street front window . There are some sitting just outside the shop

Yelp
What an experience! Bella's is truly a gem. So much to choose from, lovely ownership, and incredibly helpful and hospitable staff. I love that they have a little seating area, my four-year-old and my baby were cozy and well fed.

Yelp
After two trips to Bella's I can report that they make the best sourdough I've ever tasted!!! I've also tried the almond croissants and the croissant cinnamon buns -- both are wonderful. Looking forward to trying all the offerings. Proprietor is very nice.

Yelp
My favorite bakery in MK! Have tried a bunch of their pastries and the strawberry creamed filled croissant is my favorite so far. The bread loaves are awesome as well. Great place.

Yelp
Need to update their hours. Not open Monday and Tuesday. Waste of time and now I'm angry!

Yelp
WOW! Found this gem at the farmers market. The croissants are so fluffy and flaky. Also would definitely recommend the prosciutto and jalapeño baguette, was very flavorful and almost tasted like a sandwich itself.

Nella F.

Yelp
Delicious baked goods. Bagels are good. Sourdough unreal. Missed the sold out pretzels. Very nice people. At Muscoot Farmers Market too. But the very best thing I ate from here is the croissants. The almond croissant is so yummy and huge too! Hubby and I split it with coffee. Can't wait to try the chocolate chip croissant which looks like a cannoli cream explosion on top. Also raspberry croissants! All Delish!

Yelp
Great food/coffee and great service! Highly recommend. I love the location and ambiance. Lots of seating as well.

Yelp
I took a "sourdough bread baking" class at Bella's Bakeshop. It was incredible! I would highly recommend to anyone looking to learn the basics of sourdough baking. The owner and teacher of the class is the brilliant mind behind the best breads, croissants, and cookies I've ever had - everything they make is with the highest quality ingredients (they also only use eggs from their own personal chickens). I love everything about Bella's Bakeshop, and their class did not disappoint. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Wonderful french style pastries. Fresh and rich, not too sweet. Comfortable, clean atmosphere.
