Sacramento’s New Helvetia Brewery Could Face Eviction and Closure - Eater SF

"Vigilance Coffee has installed itself inside Belle Cora restaurant on Green Street, east of Columbus Avenue in San Francisco’s Little Italy. The pop-up operates Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., serving coffee from local roaster Graffeo." - Lauren Saria

Yeah this place rocks. Would totally 100% come back here. Bartender was incredible totally has a cool SF classic north beach bar vibe. Lots of room for everyone and a spectacular outside seating to just have a beer and watch the world go by. Come here for a wholesome local experience or for a fun dive bar vibe. Had the ham sandwhich holy crap. For a dive bar it was kinda perfect. Bread that was toasted perfectly with a delicious jam. Come here.

There are certain things and certain places that define San Francisco and Bella Cora is near the top of that list. I’ve been here multiple times, mostly when I come into SF to visit friends or drop over to the Italian Club and my visit would not be complete without a stop at Bella Cora. The service is spectacular and the wines are excellent and it so satisfying to sit on the sidewalk out front and watch the City hustle around while getting ready for a wonderful evening. Sometimes there is music on the sidewalk and sometimes it can get chilly but that just adds to the glamour and style by visiting here. My background is Irish but I certainly feel like a native San Francisco Italian when I sit out front while sipping my huge glass of red wine and talking about the old days.

The Belle Cora is a true neighborhood gem. The staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming, which sets the tone for a great evening. The vibe is relaxed but lively, and the live artists who perform here are seriously talented — it adds so much character to the place. We even stumbled upon a trivia night, which was such a fun surprise! Definitely made the experience even more memorable. The spritz? Easily the best in town. Perfectly balanced and super refreshing. If I had one small critique, it would be that I wish they had a slightly wider selection of tapas but it’s still totally fine for a casual night out. Overall, it’s a fantastic bar with great drinks, good energy, and a local charm you don’t find just anywhere. I’ll definitely be coming back.

Belle Cora has been part of North Beach since 2015. I remember seeing them open and thinking, "Good luck to them!" because that location hasn’t been very kind to new businesses. Fast-forward six years, and Belle Cora is still going strong! When the city allowed outdoor seating during the pandemic, Belle Cora's capacity nearly doubled. They now feature live music and comedy nights outdoors, which has made them very popular with those of us who enjoy heated outdoor seating along with good beer or wine. They offer about 6 or 7 beers on tap and a wide selection of bottled beers. Their wine collection is also impressive, featuring wines from around the world, including Sonoma and Napa. If you're not too hungry, there are plenty of options on their "Shared Plates" menu. If you are feeling hungrier, they have some delicious choices, including their award-winning burger from 2020. I can’t drink as much as I used to, but I still enjoy a couple of beers from the tap while listening to live music and chatting with friends at our table or with neighbors at nearby tables.

Been passing by this restaurant for so many years. Today, I finally decided to try it out for some lunch. It seems as if this location is primary a lounge and the menu doesn't have a lot of choices. Regardless, we ordered a main and two sides and we're very pleased. It's definitely worth a visit for a simple meal.

Love this little bar! Red leather pin tucked sofas. Swanky! But also just chill, swanky dive bar/wine bar- located in north beach.. I love the service here, and the wine selection is nice. I’d get the cheese board to nibble on too. They have a live band outdoor on the weekends.

Google
I'm giving 4 stars just for Bella Cora's atmosphere and ambiance. Their food used to be better before. This last time that I was there, I got really disappointed with the food. Quality of the food's come down unfortunately. Their service wasn't that good either.

Yelp
Belle Cora is an absolute standout for a laid-back, memorable evening. The live music sets a fun yet relaxed tone, and the staff provide excellent, attentive service that makes you feel right at home. One of the best parts about Belle Cora is the locals. The crowd here is friendly, welcoming, and adds to the charm of the place. It's the kind of spot where you can strike up a great conversation or just enjoy the good company around you. I could definitely see myself becoming a regular here. I was thrilled to see Allagash beer on the menu, as it comes from my hometown, Portland, Maine. It gave me a wonderful, homey feeling while I enjoyed a slice of pizza from Tony's, ordered through Uber Eats. They also have a nice selection of wines, making it a great spot for any kind of drink preference. The outdoor seating is perfect for soaking in the atmosphere while enjoying good food and drinks. Whether you're looking to unwind solo, hang out with friends, or just soak in the local vibe, Belle Cora has it all. Great music, good company, and an inviting ambiance. I highly recommend stopping by and letting this place become your go-to chill spot.

Yelp
Great ambiance. Fabulous outdoor seating area with turf and fake fires, live music, and two big willow trees. Highly recommend the deviled eggs. And on a cool night the warm olives hit. Great place to hang with friends or to enjoy a date. Servers are nice and food and drinks come quickly.

Yelp
Great little spot to enjoy some wine and live music in a heated outdoor area! My group of 6 enjoyed multiple bottles of wine here and had a really nice time. I liked the sauvignon blanc a bit more than the pinot grigio, but they were both refreshing and easy to drink. Really friendly staff and good vibes all around, I would definitely come back to try some of their food offerings as well!

Yelp
Came here on a Friday evening to grab some wine. They also had live music on Fridays. Pretty chill bar and the outdoor seating was the best for San Francisco summers. The service was great and very helpful.

Yelp
I was in the North Beach area for a friend's birthday dinner, but we decided to stop somewhere for happy hour beforehand. We stumbled on this place and absolutely loved the outdoor vibes and fire table seating. They also had a live band that was so much fun to listen to! We were able to seat ourselves easily and the servers were pretty nice about helping us get a fire started since it was chilly. We got a cheese board as well as the spritz specials to drink. Overall, super cute spot and I really had a great time!!
google avatar

Yelp
We were in the area for dinner but wanted to stop for a little happy hour so we stumbled on this place. What attracted me was the outdoor seating and they had a live band because it was Sunday! We sat where we wanted and we were helped quickly. We got a little cheese board to snack on and got the spritz to drink. Overall vibes of this place were immaculate. Busy with a great crowd and did the job of a happy hour. If you're in the area waiting for dinner this is a great place to kill some time.

Yelp
A lovely wine bar in the heart of North Beach with outdoor seating around cute fireplaces and live music in the evenings! The vibes were so nice to sit around, get drinks, and chat with friends, although we sat right by the live music so it was a little hard to hear my friends. They also have $2 off all drinks after 9pm everyday! One thing to note is that their outdoor seating is open / first come first serve, which means you seat yourself and thus makes it difficult if it's busy and if you have a group. Also, their food menu is extremely limited and have small portions, so I would not recommend coming here if you're looking for dinner in addition to drinks (as my friends and I were unfortunately). Overall the ambiance was really nice though, so I would come back in the evening with a date or friends just for drinks and some small apps.

Yelp
My husband and I saw an Instagram reel about Sotto Mare and made our way down to grab a table. It was a 45 minute wait for two people so we walked across the street to Belle Cora and found a pleasantly heated bench seat overlooking the street all lit up in color. The window to the wine bar was open so that we could listen to the gentle live music as we sipped this delectable wine in the ambiance of swaying foliage. The waitress was extremely helpful with our wine choice and made us comfortable with our kindness.

Yelp
I've actually never eaten at this restaurant, but I've stopped here many, many times for a glass of wine. It's such an idyllic location with a cozy bar inside and a lovely patio facing the baby Italian delicacies across the street. This was always my favorite spot to hang when waiting for a table nearby or for a night cap after dinner. Staff was always friendly and service was attentive. I've since moved away from SF, but would definitely visit this spot again when I've got a thirst for a great glass of wine!

Yelp
My friends and I went to Belle Cora for a few drinks and just some shareable bites. It was pretty nice and wonderful. They had live music and the environment was friendly and fun! I forgot to take a picture of the food, but it was nice. The servers were kind and accommodating!
google avatar

Dasha M.

Yelp
One of my favorite wine bars in the city! The outdoor area is great for people watching and there's usually live music! Service is good, and the shared plates are perfect pairing with wine.
google avatar

Yelp
Super cute spot for a glass of wine or a small bite. Loved the outdoor area with the fire features to stay warm. Food menu looked pretty good but I just had a rosé on a warm afternoon.
google avatar

Nyla K.

Yelp
We came here for some beer and starters while waiting for our table next door. It was pretty quiet on Valentine's Day but there was a live band outside which was nice to hear. We got the raclette and olives. The raclette was a tad on the small side and tasted okay. The olives were served warm which I've never had before but kinda liked. We had two rounds of beer and our table was ready so this was a nice stop before dinner. Would come again with the live music being a big plus.
google avatar

Tiffany D.

Yelp
Wonderful live music scene in the front outdoors with wine and beer! It's nice ambiance with the added fire pits. It makes the place feel warm and welcoming to dine and enjoy. They have menu for eats too. I enjoyed the space and how they made use of what they have during Covid times!
google avatar

Nina D.

Yelp
This place was awesome! We had a wine Wednesday and got the ciabatta roll and a bottle of white wine. There was plenty of seating inside and outside and there was a great band playing outside. The bar was quite empty but granted it was a Wednesday. The staff was also super friendly with great recommendations and very efficient with the service.
google avatar

Vivian F.

Yelp
Great live music 6-9pm on Saturday. Reasonably priced drinks and right in the heart of North Beach! Definitely will be back for the lively ambiance and drinks.
google avatar

Nina C.

Yelp
Live music, delicious food. Their double burger was absolutely delicious, and the brussels sprouts with bacon were big on flavor. Service was a bit scattered but we got all of our food in the end. A nice spot to sit outside and listen to jazz. There are heat lamps to keep you toasty on cool nights.
google avatar

Christine C.

Yelp
Came here while we waited for a table at Sotto Mare and it was a lovely open seating wine bar with ample seating options. I liked sitting outside people watching and listening to the live music. In terms of wine options they don't. Have much by the glass and their wine list could be a bit better in my opinion. But it's a good spot for a quick drink. And their service was fast and efficient.
google avatar

Lizzie S.

Yelp
Came here after playing pickleball with a Hinge date because we wanted live music, and Belle Cora did not disappoint! They offer a warm, fun parklet and it was packed--we were lucky to get seated without a reservation! We split the Heirloom BLT (Applewood smoked bacon, heirloom tomatoes and romaine on ciabatta) and Sausage and Polenta ('Little City' Sicilian sausage with polenta, tomato sauce and Parmigiano-Reggiano) and some drinks. Everything was very good, and both entrees were $12 each--what a steal! I love how the beers were from local breweries. Service and atmosphere were perfect, will be back!
google avatar

Jared F.

Yelp
I had a serene experience here. The wine was tasty, and the almond snack was delicious. I cannot speak for the entrees as I did not try them. If you are in the area, it is worth stopping by and relaxing.
google avatar

Donald H.

Yelp
Cool atmosphere with pretty good food. Service was a tad slow but I guess you expect it at a place like this. Got a table quickly which was nice, not a lot of food choices but I think this place is more for drinking than eating. Little bit of drama in the area but also to be expected in the area. All in all a nice time. Would probably come back.

Yelp
First of all. You should check out Belle Cora! Cute and fun, with outdoor seating around tables that have has fireplaces integrated into the center. They have nice shared plates and a couple of main courses as well. I think my boyfriend and I tried almost every dish on the menu (and it was a very reasonable price) so I can definitely tell you what to get. For the shared plates, definitely try the raclette (not something I see a lot, fun to try the unique things!) and might as well add on the ciabatta, it goes well with the raclette. I would have liked to try the burrata, but maybe next time. For entrees, the lamb meatballs were nice, and the ricotta cheese was a nice touch. The Mezzemaniche Pasta in Meat Ragu is also great; it's very flavorful. We didn't realize but we went on a Monday, and they had trivia! It was really fun, the right amount of challenge, and didn't last too long (some trivia drags on!)

Yelp
While visiting San Francisco, we decided to try Belle Cora for some drinks. That night happened to feature live music by Anthony Araya, and it was an absolute delight. The ambiance of the place was charming, the service was impeccable, and everything about our experience was fantastic. Anthony's musical performance was the cherry on top, adding an extra layer of enjoyment to an already wonderful evening. Belle Cora definitely exceeded our expectations with a perfect blend of great atmosphere, attentive service, and fantastic entertainment.

Yelp
Over priced garbage drinks in plastic cups. Waste of money. Service not so friendly either.
google avatar

Jocelyn L.

Yelp
The ambiance was immaculate. Outdoor seating was heated and was in such a good area to people watch and listen to live music I recommend the charcuterie board and a glass of wine. Great place to unwind and gossip with friends Service was also super fast and respectful

Yelp
Stopped by becasue we heard live music around the corner, cute outside seating - benches, round mosaic tables & tables w fake fire inside. Ordered delicious Dying Sun Hazy IPA from Ghost Town Brewery in Oakland and since we were bit hungry and vegan options were limited, we ordered the impossible burger that did not come w anything else but just the burger for $14, the burger was actually good, it did have caramelized onions on the bottom which made it taste pretty good, no fries was a disjappointmenting tho to be honest. I was told that they do not sell fries at all so there you have it. Overall cute spot for a beer and some good live music but skip the food. CC accepted.

Ruth C.

Yelp
Great ambiance outside for drinks and live music. Wouldn't recommend going just for the food, but it's decent enough for a meal or appetizers. There are much better burgers elsewhere, but few places as charming as this -- with such talented performers too. On this particular evening in the video and photo, it felt like we were transported to Paris.

Andrew A.

Yelp
Great vibe. Made some good memories here. Dynamite staff. Stopped by for a quick drink. Stayed for the live music.
google avatar

Kelsey R.

Yelp
Came here the other weekend for brunch and wouldn't recommend it as a brunch spot. Definitely more of a drinks after work place. They have a very limited food menu and were out of half of the items on their limited menu. Drinks are beer and wine but would be a cute place to grab a drink with a friend. Love the history of the place too!

Angelo B.

Yelp
My visit on Wednesday night left much to be desired. I'm sure this place isn't normally understaffed but the server/runner/bartender on duty (a blonde with curly hair) was barely holding it together. She claimed to know nothing about mocktails despite there being bottles of Seedlip on display. She then snapped at my friend for sending back an incorrect drink order ("That's great!"). My other friend later asked me if his slight accent made him difficult to understand because she kept asking him to repeat himself. Her softly shaking another guest's cocktail just two times before pouring was another highlight of our night. We sat inside at the bar and decided to leave after just one drink but I will say the live music and fire pits were lovely. I wish this lady good luck.
google avatar

Lei H.

Yelp
Stopped by here for wine on sat afternoon. Very pleasant experience and cool live guitar music. There are heat lamps against the wall and cool fireplaces. Menu for food looked food. We didn't have any this time but will be back.

Yelp
A perfect Sunday evening in north beach. Belle Cora offered friendly service, excellent food, and a wonderful singer. The outdoor patio with heaters was a perfect way to finish the weekend. The Caprese Salad was one of the best I've experienced.

Laura G.

Yelp
We hosted a private event for our wedding at Belle Cora in April and everything was wonderful. Nils is so easy to work with, very easy going, super nice and made planning an event at Belle Cora as little stress as possible, which is so appreciated when planning a wedding. We rented out the inside area but still had access to the band and fire pits outside. Perfect for around 50 people coming and going. My guests loved all the wine choices and the true classic San Francisco vibe it had. Thanks again! Would definitely recommend having a private event here again!
google avatar

Yelp
Decided to try Belle Cora based on a recommendation from a friend! They had great things to say about their burger and I'm definitely all about expanding my burger portfolio. Tried to phone in an order but got to a voicemail. Walked over and ordered in person and chose to wait while sipping a City Lights (?) beer. Service is fast and friendly and the outdoor seating is cute. They have heaters but it's in your best interest to dress warm. The beer was great, the food came before I finished my pint. Too bad you can't order alcohol to-go! I opted to get the Bergy Burger and the Pretzel Knot. Here are my thoughts: Bergy Berg -- I showed up intending to get a single patty but ended up getting double and adding bacon. No regrets. The bun was a bit burnt but it didn't affect the taste, just not aesthetically pleasing. The burger itself was impressive and checked all the right boxes: juicy, flavorful, indulgent in the best ways....it would have been great even at its most basic! I gobbled this bad boy mad quick and felt sad when it was all over. Pretzel Knot -- so good, but not really worth $4 in my opinion. What a tease! This does makes me curious about their Bavarian Pretzels. Overall, loved my experience. I'd love to go back and dine at their outdoor patio for a proper experience.
google avatar

Monica C.

Yelp
Ordered pasta, chicken club and chicken beet salad. Pretty good. The pasta tasted good. The live music added to the fun.
google avatar

Amy T.

Yelp
I came here with some friends for trivia night on Monday, and we had a great time! The trivia questions are definitely catered towards an older crowd (especially the music section) but we still had fun! I loved the belle spritz but they were out of it the next time I came back :( The food is alright, pretty typical bar food (I got a BLT). Overall a great place, and would come back again!

Sheila B.

Yelp
Service is fine; drinks good as long as one orders beer or wine. Cocktails are expensive and not well made.
google avatar

Kal W.

Yelp
Stopped by here during my SF trip. Amazing vibes and they have live music. Indoor is not open yet. Plenty of seats outside to grab a bite and enjoy the live music
google avatar

Connie M.

Yelp
I like to sit outside Belle Cora and people watch all the drunkies across the street while I sip on my elegant red wine and fancy imported pretzel. Belle Cora is a cute date night spot if you want an atmosphere that has an abundance of well behaved humans and a spread of tasty light bites and drink options. Sometimes it can get really loud on popular nights but most nights it's calmer than it's neighbors. Wine is my drink of choice here and the prices are not too steep either. Order the pretzel! It's apparently imported and is dang tasty when dipped in melted cheese because CHEESE. The bratwurst was also very tasty paired with the mustard. Next time I come I'm going to try the mac and cheese which I hear is bomb.com and also the raclette which I didn't get to try because they only serve it on Saturdays. Service can be a little slow sometimes if they are super swamped with patrons so definitely come here with patience on popular nights.
google avatar

Lorenzo F.

Yelp
Good food, fun times, lovely scenery. Great date spot. Can't wait to come back in the future.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I stopped by Belle Cora in North Beach to kill some time before a comedy show at Cobb's nearby. We had a great impression of Belle Cora and the surrounding area before even getting inside as there was live music outside by the Backyard Party Kings and outdoor seating with heat lamps. Inside there was around a dozen people comfortably seated around the bar and surrounding tables. Once at the bar, it only took around a minute for the bartender to take our order. The bartender was one of those people who are funny without even trying, while also kind at the same time- Extremely likeable. We ordered a Rosé and Red Wine. The bartender had a method of measuring the pour so it was large, but even. Made me like him even more! We also got a cheese plate to share for $15. Outside we enjoyed our wine under the heat. Even though it was a cold winter day, we were perfectly warm and happy listening to the music. The cheese plate came out quickly and was honestly everything I could ask for in a cheese plate. Good portion slices of brie, havarti, and cheese flowers. Any one of the slices they gave would have been a serving at a pretentious wine bar, but here they give you 4 slices. This was accompanied by almonds, honey and bread- just what I want and none of the weird stuff. Belle Cora is a perfectly located, romantic yet unpretentious bar. The prices are great all the time but I definitely want to come back to try their happy hour!
google avatar

Alyse S.

Yelp
I love Belle Cora. They have a delicious burger, warm and friendly atmosphere and live music!
google avatar

Jon L.

Yelp
I miss delluva but Belle Cora is an equally great replacement especially if you enjoy seating outside and people watching. Great for lazy weekend afternoons in North Beach. Bottomless mimosas by the pitcher and you're set for a good catch up and watching the day go by. Brunch food optional. And they have decent happy hours during the week too including a dog-centric one with treats for your furry friend. Live music complements the vibe of the space and service is laid back but friendly. Great for lazy lounging; Belle Cora is a good spot for beer and wine in the neighborhood.
google avatar

Danielle C.

Yelp
Great location to grab a drink or app before dinner. We had reservations across the street and stopped in for a glass of wine. The outdoor patio is adorable! They have lights in the trees and set a mood. They even had live music which really added to the experience.
google avatar

Yelp
Hands down the best Spritz in town! I came in for a drink and only had a glass of Spritz but whoa this was the best I've ever tried. I loved the old European bar decor as well. If you love Spritz this place is the one for you.

Anya P.

Yelp
I work in the neighborhood and just visited Belle Cora for the Vigilance coffee pop up! Amazing cold brew 10/10. Thank you Dave! I highly recommend this for a grab and go drink.
google avatar

Pablo D.

Yelp
I came here for drinks on a Friday night. The outside seating is nice. It was busy so it took a bit of time getting our order ready but not a big deal. Solid selection of beer and a full bar inside. Each table has a QR code to scan for the menu.

Yelp
know some may say ordering a Caesars Salad is a safe or basic choice but it was the best salad I've had in San Francisco. 1000/10 recommend!!
