Twin Cities Restaurant and Bar Openings to Know, December 2025 | Eater Twin Cities

"Back as a standalone cafe following its 2020 closure and the end of a later collaboration in 2025, the Edina location offers coffee, pastries, and lunch dishes like onion soup and omelets." - Jeffy Mai

Chef Gavin Kaysen’s Bellecour Reopens in Edina and Minneapolis | Eater Twin Cities

"Reopened at 50th and France, this French-style cafe marks the return of a beloved brand, designed as an homage to French dining culture and to Gavin Kaysen’s own story, with walls lined in career mementos like his Food & Wine Best New Chef cover, his Académie Culinaire de France honor, and his Bocuse d’Or certificate. Kaysen, director of pastry Alexandra Motz, and pastry chef/general manager Nicole Wilke are bringing back Bellecour favorites while expanding beyond past bakery iterations to create a comfortable, beautiful room where guests can sit for a glass of rosé and an endive salad. From 7 a.m., coffee and espresso accompany croissants, monkey bread, Danishes, cookies, scones, and the signature crepe cake; at 10:30 a.m., lunch adds a concise list of wines by the glass, Champagne, and beer to French café staples like a soft French omelet with Boursin and fine herbs, decadent French toast soaked in cinnamon crème anglaise, a bright salad Lyonnaise, and a classic jambon beurre layered with salted butter and Gruyere on a baguette. Open 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily." - Katherine Lawless

Gavin Kaysen Discusses What It’s Like to Be Minneapolis’ Most Celebrated Chef | Eater Twin Cities

"In Wayzata the French beauty Bellecour feels like an extension of Kaysen’s operation: Robb Jones runs the bar there as well as at Spoon and Stable and was invited to compete in a prestigious bar competition the same night as the Beard Awards — the first time a Minneapolis bar was invited, though he didn’t win. Bellecour also houses a little bakery overseen by pastry chef Diane Yang, who has become nationally known and was nominated as Best Pastry Chef." - Joy Summers

If you’re looking for amazing brunch options or to-go pastries, this is your place.

I’ve been anticipating this opening for months and it did not disappoint! Visited the first two mornings they were open and did not have any wait or line at 8:30-8:45am. Pastries have returned to their previous level of deliciousness (akin to their original Wayzata patisserie location back in 2020). Prepared food menu is short but excellent; omelet and French Toast were both wonderful and the ham & cheese baguette with butter is a classic. 50th and France was long overdue for a good breakfast spot.

Google
Super cute place, very spacious and inviting! The staff are very nice and the food is delicious! I had the gluten free dairy free banana bread and it's better than any banana bread I've ever tried! (With and without gluten!) the gingerbread latte was so smooth and tasty as well. There is a convenient parking lot right next to the building which helps a lot!

Google
A nice addition to the area. Food was fast and fresh. Coffee took a few additional minutes, but they were quite busy so I won't hold it against them. Will be back.

Google
Nice addition/evolution to have at 50th/France, which has been missing an actual cafe for a while. Relaxed vibe. Good coffee. Pastries are rich and tasty. Service was prompt.

Was very impressed with your manager Mackenzie ! Very genuine, pleasant, cheerful & quick with the service, even when it was busy. She didn’t miss a beat. Nice to get that kind of customer service ! Makes a difference. Food of course, was excellent! Atmosphere wasn’t stuffy or pretentious . (probably due to your well trained staff) Bravo ! We’ll be back often.

Google
The staff is disrespectful and rude. This was new to me, as I have never experienced it to this level. Not a single staff member smiled, said hello, said thanks, or expressed any form of courtesy. Instead all I experienced was judgmental and snobby remarks over simple questions like asking for water or to go containers. The food was mediocre at best with a high price tag. Seating is minimal.

Google
Great baked goods. Service was SLOW. Ordered a coffee (and was not busy) and took 20 minutes to make while the rest of the staff avoided eye contact and awkwardly stood around.

Yelp
I took a cooking class at the Cooks Bellecour in North Loop and had an amazing experience. We made a fall pasta, salad, and an apple tarte for dessert. The instructors were very helpful and knowledgeable. This was a great date night experience. Our class had about 20 people split into three groups who each made their own portions of the meal. I would definitely do this again

Yelp
Anniversary breakfast after a night out in the town and we had wanted to try Cooks Bellecour in Edina. We had a previous anniversary dinner at Bellecour and loved it and heard they had opened two sites now in the Twin Cities. They offer all kinds of classes and training options for all the delicious items they prepare and have a prep kitchen and store with a for sale bakery. We had chocolate croissant, ham and cheese classic and and almond item with coffees and sat outside to celebrate the morning. The line out the door highlighted just how good everything is and the location keeps you off the strip of 50th. The place is clean, classy and delicious!

Yelp
Haven't taken any cooking classes but loved seeing all of the kitchenware available. Would be a fun spot to stop by for gifts for others (or yourself). They also sell pre packaged pastries like banana bread or macaroons, refrigerated goods such as sandwiches and fresh pastries like croissants and danishes. The blueberry danish was super good and buttery, the banana bread was nutless and had the right amount of sweetness. I also enjoyed my oatmilk latte. The salmon tartine was just okay- needed more of a sour/vinegar component. Service was good. There's a free parking ramp next door, which is my favorite part. I will need to come back to try a cooking class.

Yelp
Took the cooking class today, and it was lovely. The chef was also super helpful with my allergies (celiac) Is it possible to grow to the level of Michelin Star Chef after 2 hours of instruction? One wouldn't think so until working under ELLIE! She worked wonders with her words and a knife. No better teacher exists in the greater Minneapolis area, as far as I'm concerned.

Yelp
Oh my god such delicious pastries!! I got their Swedish bun and it was amazing. One of the best I've had. Their coffee was also very good, I downed my cup. The inside was very quaint, not a ton of indoor seating. They offer lots of specialty cooking supplies and ingredients. I'd love to one day taking a cooking class there, they look so interesting and yummy! If you're looking for a quality pastry, this is the spot! Definitely on the spender side though.

Yelp
I purchased a kitchen item from this store and it did not work at all. I tried to return the product to the store and they would not take it or give me a refund or store credit. I was told I had to contact the manufracturer of the product. I am so irritated and disappointed in a store that does not stand behind products they sell. They should be contacting the manufacturer, not me. I will not shop at this store again.

Yelp
Great cooking classes, kitchen merchandise, and cafe food! They always have unique ingredients and gift ideas for sale and I've loved the cooking classes I've attended.

Yelp
poor customer service not worth the huge gratuity you add on to the bill I waited for service from your employees just sitting around eating. I had a lot to buy so they would have gone out a head. Be aware of who is in your store and if they need help

Yelp
The food is overpriced. Quality is so so. Nice atmosphere, but you'll pay for it. $30 is too much for a casual lunch on the fly. There's a 15% service charge on my takeout food, plus an 8% tax on the total.

Yelp
At one time there were two upscale cooking supplies stores, Cooks and Sur la Table, in the 50th and France area of Edina. Also there was one, Kitchen Windows, in Uptown. Cooks also has a store in St Paul. The Edina and Uptown stores were all close to where I live. The St Paul store is a bit of a drive for me. Sur la Table was a national chain and was able to under cut the prices of Cooks in Edina driving them out of business. Then Sur la Table itself significantly downsized and eliminated its Edina store. Finally due to a variety of reasons Kitchen Windows closed its doors. So where there once were three there were now none. Since I am an enthusiastic home cook who loves cooking gear, this was a severe blow. Now however Cooks in partnership with Bellecour has opened a cooking supply store/bakery and sandwich shop at 50 th and France. I visited recently and am very happy to have them nearby. They have a nice selection of upscale cooking products and although I didn't get anything to eat, l shall return. Every thing looked delicious even if a bit spendy. They also offer cooking lessons which look interesting. I am very happy to see them in my neighborhood. There is free municipal parking nearby. I suggest using the lot on the north side of Market Street. The stalls in the lot on the South side are so narrow that I, not a particularly large person by today's standards, could not open my car door wide enough to get out. The North side stalls are normal size.

Yelp
The best pastries and coffee in the twin cities! Highly recommend the ham & cheese croissant or the almond chocolate croissant!

Yelp
We went in on Father's Day around 10 am. We waited in line for over ten minutes as two cashiers slowly helped the line that was out the door. When I finally got to a cashier he wasn't friendly, nor in any big hurry. They have one coffee machine and there were six people ahead of me waiting. A woman came in from a table outside to ask where her coffee was and stood there waiting for the next ten minutes while her family was outside eating. This place was understaffed for such a busy day, overpriced ($18 for a sandwich!?!) and needed a manager on duty to help get things moving. We also saw cashiers, who also plate pastries, using bare hands to touch pastries they were plating - no gloves or tongs. Save your time and money and go someplace else!
