Bellefeuille - Saint James Paris

"Built in 1892, this private mansion resembles a small château surrounded by greenery in the very heart of Paris. It became a hotel in the early 1990s, but it wasn't until 2013 that its restaurant opened to non-residents and it is very probably one of the most exclusive establishments of the French capital! The high-flying score, which focuses on vegetables and seafood, is proud to serve produce from the establishment’s own vegetable garden, capable of supplying over 250 varieties of fruit, veg and herbs. This sustainable farming ethos is elegantly and steadfastly championed by the knowledgeable front-of-house team. The wine list is similarly motivated and offers a fine choice of unexpected tipples." - Michelin Inspector

Exquisite Michelin-starred dining experience! The set menu featuring asparagus and delicate flowers is a culinary masterpiece, and Main course options of turbot fish, pigeon, or veal are all exceptional with flavors twisted in a delightful way that leaves you marveling at the deliciousness. Each dish served with flair, akin to a catwalk presentation.

Since we stayed at the Saint James Paris, we thought it would be a good idea to celebrate our special occasion at the Bellefeuille. Have to say, unfortunately it did not meet our expectation at all. The ambience is amazing given the restaurant is same as where we had the breakfast (the decor at Saint James Paris is amazing as it is). Most of the dishes were flavourful and delicious but all of the seafood dishes were somehow not so great to our palates. The combination of seafood and their dressing was just…wrong. The only dish we truly enjoyed was the pigeon. It was done well and really delicious. Service was impeccable however the chef did not have the courtesy to come say hello or ask for our feedback even though he was there walking back and forth many times between the kitchen and dining room. We had noted that we would be celebrating our anniversary but Bellefeuille literally did not do anything about it, not even an oral congratulation from the staff. Really disappointing.

Wow. The service, food and wine were truly exceptional! I understand why Bellefeuille received a Michelin star. Everything was outstanding. My favorite dish on this menu was the squid (they change the menu seasonally). I would love to come back here next time I’m in Paris. Definitely worth every penny. Would highly recommend.

I had the pleasure of dining at Bellefeuille Restaurant at Saint James Paris and I must say, it was an unforgettable experience. The staff was incredibly friendly and gave us a warm welcome, making us feel right at home. The attention to detail was impeccable and every need was attended to promptly. The 9-course dinner was a journey through the sea, the forest, and Paris, with each dish more breathtaking than the last. The names of the dishes were beautiful, and the food presentation was a work of art. Every bite was a symphony of flavors and the decoration was as delicious as it was beautiful. The dinner lasted for 3 hours but it felt like a poem, full of surprises. If you are looking for a dining experience like no other, I highly recommend Bellefeuille Restaurant at Saint James Paris. 5 stars, hands down!

#86 This was actually the last new star I tried in my Michelin Stars Challenge in Paris. Follow me to discover my other challenges. Update: I went back since the first review. You’ll find the new one and the old one (with some corrections). 2023 Review : What’s interesting here? Definitely in the top 10 one star in Paris. Will it be for the setting, the atmosphere or the cuisine. First, let me put a disclaimer. I like the guy. You could say I’m biased. But, I don’t know why, especially since I’ve barely seen him and talk to him (he was away the second visit and the first time, I just saw him briefly). So there’s no specific reason. Or is it because I like the hidden contradiction where you have the perfection of the old master, but with the language of a newer generation? It feels like receiving a sms from a much younger cousin but with a proper spelling and grammar. His plates are modern indeed, expressive and quite emotional. But underneath you have the previous generation, perfectionist and paradoxically harder to read... Concretely, compare to last year, I found a great progression. The main one would be that I feels more like he’s telling a story, with a beginning, chapters and an end. Like an old master, the progression in it is very well managed and smooth. By the way, I recommend you do not take shortcuts and go for the longer menu. As I said last year, he’s a guy from the mountains that loves the sea. So do not reduce the sea section, especially with the deep dive (eaux profondes - squid and its “ink”). This dish is a must. If there’s one reason why I like this guy, it’s this dish. Hidden in the deep waters, behind the old master perfectionism and far from the noise, and the light, of a younger generation lies a guy that you can’t help but like. And then you move back up and forward with the meat, the dessert and ultimately, you’ll get out of the restaurant, the property and realize that you forgot you were in Paris. Definitely a top tiers one star. Already a two stars contender in a year. 2022 Review : What’s great here? The package. It’s rare to have such a package in one place. But I’m afraid this review won’t do justice to quality of the place. A true package. First, the place. How awesome is this place? Do a word count on my reviews, I’m not using this word lightly. Of course, you have big palaces, but a place like this? Wow. Rent a car just for the pleasure of driving in! I know the place is not enough to make a restaurant. But it could be enough for a lot of people (and actually it is to all the ones who “just “ go to the bar or to the “normal “ restaurant instead of the gastronomic one…). Then, you have the brigade. Yes, because, it’s nice to be in your Hôtel particulier in Paris, yet feeling somewhere else (strange feeling being in Paris and forgetting you are), but it’s even better to be treated like a king. Each one has his own character, and each will bring a different light to your evening. I appreciated the dish story telling. But still, it’s great to be in a wonderful hidden place in Paris, better to be treated like kings but you want the food to be divine. And here, it is. I often think that the Michelin Star I prefer are the one star did not reach stardom (and perfection) yet, because you can still touch (and feel) the chef spirit. The chef cuisine is very balanced. It’s a guy from the mountain that loves Britany…. That says it all… So the seafood is are treated with the outmost respect and slightly enhanced with flavored oils and citrus. Look at the squid picture with its ink. It’s a piece of art. This is a guy from the mountain sharing his love of the sea. It’s a top tiers one star. And it’s a top tiers experience.

We were lucky to get a table on the 5th July 2023 for my birthday and it was amazing. The best part were the desserts and the mocktails (non-alcoholic cocktails). It was even better than expected. Merci beaucoup, it was ~ perfect. ✨

Was very disappointed with this experience overall. The staff really make this a 3* (which is low for me) rather than the food which I couldn’t give more than 2/5. I am - for sure - holding this to a higher standard than most due to the location and prestige. We came in with high expectations. The food did not live up to Michelin standard and we even had to send a dish back to the kitchen. They served my pescatarian guest meat in a dish which also soured the experience. However the staff were incredible and I can only assume this was a once off for the kitchen.

The hotel is amazing and the renovation has been exceptionnal in this small and beautiful hotel particulier. It’s a must see I called on Sunday the restaurant. They took my reservation for Tuesday for 4 persons and my phone number When I arrived, they couldn’t find my name on the list. I looked stupid in front of my friends. That was a bad start. I showed them the phone call log, made on Sunday After 30 min at the bar, the GM kindly found us a table at the gastronomical restaurant Menu is a set of 6 or 9 courses : we went for 6 Most dishes were around seafood; except a pigeon at the end It’s a tapas format that last for 3 hours (a real torture as you can’t digest : how can people still do that ?!?) Food was very sophisticated. Service was perfect. Check was absurd (but that’s the price for such a restaurant). Wine list was impressive I normaly don’t eat a lot of shells but no real choice with the set menu : it was a very bad idea I’ve been intoxicated with heavy toxin for 36h after the dinner. Starting 2h after, I started to have paralysis of the right side of my face so I took immediately antihistaminic drug; according to a doctor. It worked ! I had to drink enormous quantities of water and eat coal to absorb the toxin. Couldn’t move for 24h out of my bed as I was very dizzy The cook isn’t INSIDE the food. It’s bad luck but it made this experience a nightmare I regretted to have insisted into getting the table. Won’t do that again #karma

Yelp
I am going to say this is a very good restaurant even though my main course was ok. First started with the foie gras. It was wonderful with the accompanied crispy stuff. The flavor were awesome subtle gentle and they snuck up on you. Wow. Went on to the main course which was the shrimp and quail. I think I ordered the wrong thing. There was one shrimp which was wonderfully tasty and the quail was nice. Watching other peoples steak and lamb I felt left out. Bad choice by me. The long sundae desert was fantastic wow. The combination of gentle sweet flavors with the crispy sides and then the ice cream was awesome. Maybe I should only eat appetizers and dessert. Worth a visit I doubt you will be disappointed.

Yelp
My first Michelin star restaurant - I was a bit disappointed. Maybe my expectations were to high? We came here in a group of 8 so we had to pick a semi set menu. Service was ok, nothing spectacular. Food was also ok, again nothing spectacular or memorable - presentation was ok - I've seen better at restaurants that didn't have any stars? I don't think I would return, there are too many other places to try and I felt the price didn't match what we were presented with. All and all it was a nice evening with friends!

Yelp
I'd give it a higher review if I could taste the food. So far, I can't get anyone's attention to simply order a drink, let alone eat anything. And NO ONE speaks English. Typical slow, understaffed and annoyed that they have to work at all, French place.

Amazing cuisine. If you are looking for an incredible gastronomic experience, this is it. Michelin star chef, friendly staff, cozy dining room.
