The Best Independent and French-Owned Hotels in Paris Now - AFAR

"The Michelin-starred restaurant at Saint James Paris sources seasonal organic ingredients from the hotel’s Fontainebleau vegetable garden and showcases chef Grégory Garimbay’s commitment to sustainability and joie de vivre on the plate." - Mary Winston Nicklin, Lindsey Tramuta

"Built in 1892, this private mansion resembles a small château surrounded by greenery in the very heart of Paris. It became a hotel in the early 1990s, but it wasn't until 2013 that its restaurant opened to non-residents and it is very probably one of the most exclusive establishments of the French capital! The high-flying score, which focuses on vegetables and seafood, is proud to serve produce from the establishment’s own vegetable garden, capable of supplying over 250 varieties of fruit, veg and herbs. This sustainable farming ethos is elegantly and steadfastly championed by the knowledgeable front-of-house team. The wine list is similarly motivated and offers a fine choice of unexpected tipples." - Michelin Inspector

Set inside a decadent chateau style mansion in the heart of Paris, Bellefeuille showcases the lavish refinement of its environment. Offering 3 menus, a vegetable only 5 course menu, and a more traditional 4 or 6 course tasting menu. Chef Grégory Garimbay shows you his master class of subtlety, technique and precision. This hoté French cuisine has earned every bit its reputation. Menu highlights feature the langoustine, nestled inside a Jasmine broth and teaming with a heaping dallop of caviar. The interplay between hold and cold, sweet and savory, and delicate broth alongside an ocean forward shellfish and buttery caviar. It set the stage for what would be an incredible meal, crescendoed by the otherworldly milk textures desert. Bellefeuille is something that photos won’t do justice, you have to try it for yourself.

We decided to celebrate our 30th anniversary at Bellfeuille, during our trip to Paris, based on a recommendation from an American friend who has an apartment and in Paris nearby and shares his time between Paris and New York. Our experience was beyond our wildest expectations. As vegans (and while traveling occasionally yielding to vegetarian fare), we found two fixed menus: vegetarian and "normal." Of course, we selected the former. All veggies and fruit came the same day in total freshness from the restaurant's farm outside of Paris. With a four-course menu, we were served delicacies before the first dish, in between the second and the third, and between the third and the fourth, and the desert was not one desert but rather the main desert and three smaller deserts. Each dish was small and delicious, and at the end of the veritable feast, we were beyond satisfied, and needed to take a long walk to the hotel to restore the center of gravity. The quality of food, freshness, the creativity of the chef -- the whole ensamble -- were superb. The service - pure excellence. The servers were kind, knew all about each dish, had good stories to tell, and made us very welcome. The atmosphere is very cozy and elegant, reflective of the ambiance of St James Hotel where the restaurant is located. Bellfeuille easily deserves 3 Michelin stars. We are thankful to the Bellfeuille team for an unforgettable evening. Merci beaucoup!!

Exquisite Michelin-starred dining experience! The set menu featuring asparagus and delicate flowers is a culinary masterpiece, and Main course options of turbot fish, pigeon, or veal are all exceptional with flavors twisted in a delightful way that leaves you marveling at the deliciousness. Each dish served with flair, akin to a catwalk presentation.

Since we stayed at the Saint James Paris, we thought it would be a good idea to celebrate our special occasion at the Bellefeuille. Have to say, unfortunately it did not meet our expectation at all. The ambience is amazing given the restaurant is same as where we had the breakfast (the decor at Saint James Paris is amazing as it is). Most of the dishes were flavourful and delicious but all of the seafood dishes were somehow not so great to our palates. The combination of seafood and their dressing was just…wrong. The only dish we truly enjoyed was the pigeon. It was done well and really delicious. Service was impeccable however the chef did not have the courtesy to come say hello or ask for our feedback even though he was there walking back and forth many times between the kitchen and dining room. We had noted that we would be celebrating our anniversary but Bellefeuille literally did not do anything about it, not even an oral congratulation from the staff. Really disappointing.

Wow. The service, food and wine were truly exceptional! I understand why Bellefeuille received a Michelin star. Everything was outstanding. My favorite dish on this menu was the squid (they change the menu seasonally). I would love to come back here next time I’m in Paris. Definitely worth every penny. Would highly recommend.

I had the pleasure of dining at Bellefeuille Restaurant at Saint James Paris and I must say, it was an unforgettable experience. The staff was incredibly friendly and gave us a warm welcome, making us feel right at home. The attention to detail was impeccable and every need was attended to promptly. The 9-course dinner was a journey through the sea, the forest, and Paris, with each dish more breathtaking than the last. The names of the dishes were beautiful, and the food presentation was a work of art. Every bite was a symphony of flavors and the decoration was as delicious as it was beautiful. The dinner lasted for 3 hours but it felt like a poem, full of surprises. If you are looking for a dining experience like no other, I highly recommend Bellefeuille Restaurant at Saint James Paris. 5 stars, hands down!

After a disappointing experience in the fine dinning restaurant ‘Le Maurice”, we really love our dinner in Bellefeuilles in saint James. From decoration, service to wine and each dishes. Everything is perfect! My Chinese friends are finally happy and find French fine dining worth the reputation.

Google
Was very disappointed with this experience overall. The staff really make this a 3* (which is low for me) rather than the food which I couldn’t give more than 2/5. I am - for sure - holding this to a higher standard than most due to the location and prestige. We came in with high expectations. The food did not live up to Michelin standard and we even had to send a dish back to the kitchen. They served my pescatarian guest meat in a dish which also soured the experience. However the staff were incredible and I can only assume this was a once off for the kitchen.

Yelp
I am going to say this is a very good restaurant even though my main course was ok. First started with the foie gras. It was wonderful with the accompanied crispy stuff. The flavor were awesome subtle gentle and they snuck up on you. Wow. Went on to the main course which was the shrimp and quail. I think I ordered the wrong thing. There was one shrimp which was wonderfully tasty and the quail was nice. Watching other peoples steak and lamb I felt left out. Bad choice by me. The long sundae desert was fantastic wow. The combination of gentle sweet flavors with the crispy sides and then the ice cream was awesome. Maybe I should only eat appetizers and dessert. Worth a visit I doubt you will be disappointed.

Yelp
My first Michelin star restaurant - I was a bit disappointed. Maybe my expectations were to high? We came here in a group of 8 so we had to pick a semi set menu. Service was ok, nothing spectacular. Food was also ok, again nothing spectacular or memorable - presentation was ok - I've seen better at restaurants that didn't have any stars? I don't think I would return, there are too many other places to try and I felt the price didn't match what we were presented with. All and all it was a nice evening with friends!

Yelp
I'd give it a higher review if I could taste the food. So far, I can't get anyone's attention to simply order a drink, let alone eat anything. And NO ONE speaks English. Typical slow, understaffed and annoyed that they have to work at all, French place.

Yelp
I have been to this place 3 times and always different always great you can take the tasting menu and you will have a great moment you can buy the relais et chateaux box and you will have another great moment but I think the presentation is better and nicer for the second one the staff is great and always welcome pro but not too much like in high restaurant I will go back soon because it is great value for what you have thak you for those moments.....
