"Mary Ann is one of the only Chinese bakeries in Miami. It’s takeout only, but you can walk out of here with as many baked goods as you’re capable of carrying—and probably not spend more than $20 (the really good pork buns are only a couple dollars). Both the sweet and savory ends of the spectrum are well represented here. We usually leave with the chicken pie, curry beef bun, and pandan swiss roll. "Mary Ann Bakery is a Cantonese-style bakery and North Miami institution that’s been around for decades. Almost everything here is delicious. However, their savory baked buns are always worth the detour for me, and I’ve been known to plan trips around a stop here. The char siu bao is excellent and features a fluffy, slightly sweet dough filled with chopped Chinese barbecue pork. The curry beef bun is another must - the sweet dough is a perfect vehicle for the spicy ground beef filling that’s always super moist - and the chicken pie is like a miniature, handheld chicken pot pie with the flakiest, most buttery crust imaginable. The staff is super friendly and is always willing to answer any questions. "This small North Miami Chinese bakery has just enough space for a display case full of delicious things like curry beef puffs, egg custard tarts, and some of the best barbecue pork buns in Miami. Everything is ready to eat as soon as you pay for it, and the savory buns are kept warm all day, just for your extremely late and hungry ass. The barbecue pork buns and curry beef buns should absolutely be coming home with you, but feel free to order anything that looks tasty—chances are it is.
