The 25 Best Restaurants In Mexico City

"Bellopuerto isn’t a traditional limey/spicy seafood restaurant like so many others we know and love. Instead, this spot serves things like a short rib and octopus burger, and while your brain might start to hurt just thinking about that, we promise it’s great. The roasted bone marrow with crispy octopus chicharron and salsa borracha is another thing you should prioritize. It comes with fresh tortillas and will have you wondering what other versions of chicharrones you’ve been missing out on." - guillaume guevara

Google
Amazing customer service,( Andiel was fantastic and took such good care of us including a yummy flan dessert to celebrate my friend's birthday), delicious food and great drinks! The volcano tostada was SO good!! And their bean dip is so yummy we had to ask for another one. Hands down one of the best meals we had in Mexico City and experience, especially because of the staff.

Google
If we could give zero stars we would. Awful experience. After eating their seafood (taco, tostada, ceviche), my wife and I ended up with severe food poisoning that resulted in two doctor visits and our trip to Mexico City being cut short. After talking to the doctors and looking at when we ate compared to the food poisoning, we confirmed it was most definitely without a doubt this restaurant. Nice friendly service, but absolutely unclean food that ruined our trip. Stay away from this place - even if it looks nice.

Went to dinner at Bellopuerto with five friends. Two of us had the jaiba tacos and got terrible food poisoning. It is most likely that they don’t get enough people during the weekdays and are serving ingredients that have not been properly taken care of. Also, this place has existed for a long time. When the seafood is not making you sick, it’s a 7/10at the most. That is the reason why it is never full, except maybe Sunday lunch. But everything is full in Mexico City for Sunday lunch. I’m guessing a lot of those raving five star reviews that say these are the “best tacos” they’ve ever had are paid reviews or bots. Place has been there for over 15 years and I have never heard anybody say that it’s their favorite.

Google
Amazing seafood place. It doesn’t matter if you eat on the outside or the inside, the place is amazing - and so does the vibe. I highly recommend you the “aguachiles” 1000/10. Their Aperol Spritz is also really good.

Good service and atmosphere. Food is okay.

The waiters were extremely rude and completely disrespectful. At the door they laughed and made a completely inappropriate remark between themselves! They then told us the kitchen was closed but watched as other people were seated and given dinner menus! Do better! -Just as a side note they missed out as we are notoriously big tippers!

Google
A place to enjoy seafood in the middle of Polanco neighborhood. Tostada de Atún with fried onion and avocado is unbeatable and tacos de camarón rebozado is a must too. They have one of the best Clamato beer (try this mix to be full immersed in Mexican culture). Beside this they have ceviche, octopus prepared in different ways and great main dishes. Excellent service.

Yelp
This was my 5 stop of 7 of my walking food tour. I loved the cute decor and lovely atmosphere. We were served some tuna tostada with several sauces (my favorite was the garlic one). The tuna tostada was so delicious, fresh, and light. The guava drink was unique and refreshing.

Yelp
This was stop 5 of 7 on my Polanco walking tour. This was the last food spot as the last two were dessert. We were served two items- a guava juice which was so refreshing and the tuna tostada. A nice combo. The side dishes were a perfect addition to the tostada. The fish tasted so fresh. This seemed like the kind of place where families have their standing Sunday brunch. I loved the vibe.

Yelp
Our last meal stop before the airport was here, nestled in a picturesque intersection in Polanquito. If you are a struggle bus American who has done a poor job of breaking the Don't Speak More Than One Language stereotype (as we have thus far )...they have an English menu for you! **More on this phenomenon in other reviews** The waiter was extra, extra attentive. They have a plethora of creative tacos to choose from, which we did and enjoyed immensely. Don't worry about which ones we had--I have a strong feeling that they're all fabulous. But you know what was even more fabulous? The VEGETABLES!! They were simple, yet flavorful and perfectly cooked. Which to me, means more on the underdone side. You've lost all the nutrients when they cook the hell out of your veggies. And if you've been eating all the tacos--admit it--you could use some roughage by this point! One thing to note: If you want to get through your meal without being approached for donations very constantly, you might want to sit inside. I'm not wealthy, but everything is relative, and I hate to think of people struggling, so I constantly wanted to keep giving away our pesos. That's not the best setup for a peaceful meal, however. It was our first time in that specific area, so this may be common at all the restaurants over there. Idk. Nonetheless, it was a wonderful, worthwhile experience. Recommend.

Yelp
Once you book your flight to Mexico City immediately make a reservation at Bellopuerto! I absolutely love everything I tried here! My favorite was the complimentary salsas/sauces, bean dip, and tortilla chips. They are arranged from tasty to very spicy. I ordered the octopus tostada (it comes with guacamole lightly spread on the tortilla chip) and it was very good...just the right amount of citrus and octopus was very tender. I also ordered ceviche and it was prefect! Oh, don't forget to order a margarita on the rocks...I added mango flavoring!

Yelp
Cute place in Polanco that I read about having really good bone marrow with octopus so that was the main reason I wanted to go here. Went on a Friday night with a reservation, but there was only one or two tables that were taken so I don't think we needed one. The server was very attentive and everything was served in a reasonable amount of time. The octopus bone marrow was everything I wanted to it be! I definitely recommend getting that if you come here. Otherwise, we tried some of their tacos and a tuna tostada. The only thing that missed the mark was the tuna tostada, it tasted more like a tuna salad tostada, and we had much better (fresher) ones other places in CDMX. The drinks were good too, and a plus is that it's right across the street from el Moro! So come here then go get churros. Overall we enjoyed our experience at Bellopuerto, there are a lot of other restaurants around here too that looked busier though so I'm curious as to how those places were. Come here for apps and drinks then venture around.

Yelp
Everything was AMAZING here. The fish was made oaxocan style and it was a standout for sure. The grilled pulpos was perfect, not too chewy. These two items were the perfect amount for me and my boyfriend. Our server was very attentive and even gave us some background on how they make the food. We decided to sit on the patio as it was such a beautiful day in Mexico City and it was so relaxing. Only con is the flys that start to come, but that's very normal when eating outside. We wrapped up lunch with carajillos and it was the perfect way to end it. Can't wait to come back again!

Yelp
Great seafood. We weee greeted with chips, spicy beans, habanero salsa and macha salsa. Food is very fresh. I had a shrimp cocktail and it was beautiful and delicious. We also tried the grilled octopus and it was very tender. Pasta was very flavorful. Server was excellent.

Yelp
Yo veni para comer rapidito y habia muchas mesas abiertas. Pregunte por una mesa y me avisaron que estaba reservada, en 40 minutos. Soy morena y no me podian sentar. Nunca mas. Racismo.

Yelp
We LOVE this place. Meal was excellent!! And service was so great and attentive. The grilled octopus is a must!! We enjoyed it so much better than Contramar's grilled octopus! This one had amazing flavor and you can select what it gets grilled with (we chose vegetables)! Cannot rave about it enough. The salmon ceviche was beautifully flavored. We are every little piece. My friend also got the shrimp taco which she also really loved! Honestly such a great meal and experience. Great location and vibes on the corner in the busy area and has a DJ with good music as well. Check this place out!!

Yelp
English friendly waiting staff. Good choice for lunch in Polanco. The cute decor caught our attention while wandering around the neighborhood. Menu is pretty much all seafood. I got shrimp tostadas and guacamole

Yelp
This is a perfect location night or day but seems more like a lunch spot. The decor was bright and alive. Literally with plants hanging down and many fish art. Seafood is the entree of choice. The service was super. Stop here for a taste of Veracruz.

Yelp
We ate here on a Tuesday evening. We were enticed by the waiter standing outside and decided to eat here. Nice atmosphere with impeccable service by Adiel! Nice menu with several options. I chose the ceviche verde(chunks of marinated fish, corn & diced cucumber & onion with sliced avocado and a tasty green sauce. I also ordered a grilled taco with shrimp & Oaxaca cheese served with a side of grilled onions. My hubby ordered a shrimp cocktail and the fish & chips with a homemade tartar sauce. The fish & chips were served hot & crispy. The shrimp cocktail came home for later and had at least 20 nice sized shrimp with a flavorful sauce & diced veggies. Overall an excellent meal and we'll go back to try a few other items on the menu. They did have a menu in English to assist my hubby with his choices. Excellent citrus whiskey cocktail and I had Pina colada w/o alcohol.

Yelp
The good was good, therefore the 2 stars. But what a terrible experience. We were walking around Polanco around 4:30pm. We saw this place has couple of tables available outside and it seemed like a relaxing atmosphere, so we decided to give it a try. We approached the extremely unprofessional and clearly overwhelmed hostess and asked if we could sit outside. She said sure, but only on one tables for 2 ppl (which is OK, I get it, we were 2 and they wanted to optimize their seating). The problem was that the only available table for 2 were under the hot sun. I explained it to her and she assured us that they would pull out the awning and it would be fine. We had to insist with her and other waiters before they remembered to pull out the awning (this took us a good 10-15 min). After that, we finally got the menus. Suddenly the turned on the music. SOOO LOUD. I mean, cool if you wanna go to a eletro club or bar/lounge for drinks. But we wanted to chat and relax. We asked them to turn down the volume a bit. Obviously they forgot. A couple of minutes later, they rose the awning again. I was like "are you kidding me?" the waiter explained that another couple wanted to have the sun. I was like WTF? And then the check. Again we had to ask 3 difference ppl for it. After about 20 min we got it. What a terrible service experience. Long story short, this is a pseudo-fancy place with good food but terrible service and VERY LOUD. For the price we paid, not worth it at all.

Yelp
In the chic Polanco neighborhood, this cute restaurant serves authentic Mexican dishes served in a beach décor setting. Grab a table facing the street, to enjoy your drinks, bites and watch well dressed locals out for a stroll. Clean white is everywhere, cocktails are fresh, and expect an amuse bouche to wake up your taste buds. Outstanding dishes were large head on shrimp and fillet of salmon.

Yelp
A great place to eat. Sitting right by the road watching all the folks go by was great but the food was over the top good. Ordered the Seabass wings that are a must have. Also ordered two tacos, one was the fried shrimp, the other the Tijuana. Both were really good. I don't care if you don't get anything else at this place, get the Tijuana taco. It will change you life. By far holds the record for me for the best taco on the planet. Simply legit.

Yelp
Really good steak taco! Light, super tasty and a must if you go! Drinks were really good as well! We had a pina colada and a margarita! Both were really really good! A must try! The octopus was really good as well! If it's nice outside, super cute place to pop into for a drink and food!

Yelp
Really cute place, open air seating. Great service. Started with a amuse bouche of shrimp broth. Delicious! And was presented in a tiny clay pitcher, adorable. Had the ceviche appetizer and the tuna tostadas. Both really terrific, fresh and light. Also had a great white wine. Will absolutely go again!

Yelp
Wonderful! Have had a martini and classic tuna taco. A great start. This place knows vibe and food. Came weeknight and was closed but open late Friday night. Recommend.

Yelp
Food was good, location was awesome and the service exceptional. We sat outdoors and had a great time people watching as it is located in a busy part of town. My wife was ecstatic because we ran into Roberto Palazuelos (famous telenovela star) when coming to the restaurant about half a block away. The vibe is airy and open with a beach vibe but I would have more comfortable seating though.

Yelp
Best seafood in town! The place is located on the bussy district of Polanco. Even if it looks like a traditional "Marisqueria" (Seafood place in Spanish) the place offers absolute superb quality not only on the ingredients but also on the recipes. Many of them are totally original, like Pulpo Machitos, Tostada Habanera with Chicharrón, Robalo Fish Wings (!) and a generous variety of fish and seafood tacos. Some main dishes are amazing too, like the Carnitas de Atun (Fresh tuna "carnitas") or the traditional Huauzontles with Mole Sauce (with shrimps). They also have the best desert on the city: A Cajeta Cheesecake, which will leave you in a complete extasis! The have full bar, a very decent wine selection, and some cocktails of the house, they also serve a very decent selection of craft beers (Don't miss Colimita Beer and Michelada Bellopuerto if you're a beer aficionado). The place is not too big so it can get very busy and a bit crowded. Service is very friendly. Prices are very reasonable.

Yelp
Great place to people watch and take in the local scene. Amazingly fresh seafood ...to die for! Excellent service, very attentive. Fresh design to match the food. Couldn't be better!
