"This bustling city institution has an über-cool bohemian feel, with evidence of its days as a grocer’s shop in each of the little rooms—and vinyl played on an old record player. The fresh Mediterranean cooking shows a good understanding of ingredients, and dishes are full of color and flavor. The well written wine list offers some 75 milliliter nips and service is friendly and engaging." - The MICHELIN Guide Nordic Editorial Team

We went for Mothers Day and weren't that impressed... Felt like a bit of a profit making day with overpriced food and not enough staff. I've heard great things about it on normal days (like more veggie options) so I'd like to try again but would have to be persuaded... They had a special mothers day menu, which according to someone else was a lot more pricey than their usual menu. And yet didn't get represented by size - a £14 pork shoulder was about the 1/3rd the size of a similar priced one elsewhere. I'm fully aware the quality is supposed to be really good and all the food did taste really nice, but just too expensive for what it was, especially compared to their usual menu. Service took for ever... And we had to get someone to get up and go ask to remind them about the water or bread promised aged ago. I completely understand they were busy but feel like maybe don't take more bookings then you can handle? It obviously ends up on the waiters heads, and although they were probably stressed they weren't that apologetic except at the end they knocked 10% which was nice.

Simply incredible food. Everything we had here - a generous banquet-style meal since we were a large table - was spectacular, from simple seafood dishes to hearty meat. Special attention was made to all dietary requirements and we were made to feel so welcome. A Bristol gem!

I have to say that I wasn't impressed. The restaurant itself is nice, but you want to sit in the front 2 rooms and not the end room - that's a little bereft of charm. The service was very nice, although I felt a little hurried. The food was alright - but I didn't think that all the dishes went together and that it felt very overpriced. I wanted it to be brilliant and somewhere that I could visit time and again, but unfortunately I won't go back. Shame.

One of the best restaurants in Bristol. Amazing food with one of the best wine lists to match. The fantastic staff top it off though! A must visit if in Bristol and we're so lucky to have it in our doorstep. Always a great night out.

Well, it looks like I get the privilege of the first review of Bell's under it's new management. Chris Wick's stewardship was always going to be a tough act to follow, and us Bristol foodies waited with baited breath to see how it would turn out. I'm overjoyed to tell you it's as good as ever! Some friends and I dropped in just after they opened, and their food is excellent. Locally sourced, we had a swathe of Mediterranean-style dishes served as a meze, and sat there nibbling, drinking a selection of glasses from a fine wine list, and chatting all night. The place is a bit lighter in décor, but the service is as friendly and prompt as ever. It's not cheap but for the quality, portion size, and service, it shouldn't be. We were so excited we took a visiting friend there the following week - and he was bowled over too! Go - you won't regret it.

Have been long overdue a visit to this Bristol institution and was not disappointed in any way. From arrival, the staff were warm and welcoming, the menu was broad without being too long and the food was just bursting full of punchy, vibrant and well balanced flavours. 100% would re-visit, highly recommended
