Where To Stay Along Mexico's Pacific Coast

"Any hotel that’s memorable and presents a unique point of view on its setting qualifies as a boutique hotel, in our book. Puerto Vallarta’s BellView Boutique Hotel fits the bill. For while there are plenty of bigger and more contemporary hotels in this town, there’s nothing else like BellView, whose four rooms and suites are overflowing with the sort of historical elegance that’s in painfully short supply around here." - Mark Fedeli

Intimate Mexican Hotels For A Warm Vacation

"There’s a moody, intimate vibe permeating the BellView where the four rooms and suites embrace history and opulence—think gilded frames and lamps, terracotta tile floors—with modern conveyances. Located in the city center just north of Banderas Bay and the sea, the view and setting are ideal for sun seekers or beach bunnies." - The MICHELIN Guide

"A boutique hotel doesn’t have to be a design hotel, in the modern or contemporary sense — any hotel that’s modestly sized, memorable, and presents a unique point of view on its setting qualifies as a boutique hotel, in our book. Puerto Vallarta’s BellView Boutique Hotel fits the bill, even though its style is antique from top to bottom. For while there are plenty of bigger and more contemporary hotels in this town, there’s nothing else like BellView, whose seven rooms and suites are overflowing with the sort of historical elegance that’s in painfully short supply around here." - Tablet Hotels

As always, our annual stay at the Bellview could be described as excellent, albeit too short. The staff is amazing and the food and accommodations are absolutely wonderful. The top feature of the hotel is it's location. You are right behind the church at the center of PV (you will hear the bells go off regularly, but they are charming). We thoroughly enjoy our breakfast every morning with the most incredible view of PV and the Banderas Bay. It is breathtaking! Can't wait to be back this winter.

We absolutely LOVED this cute little place. The room was amazing! We had 2 of our very own balconies with a view that's out of this world! Only problem was our main balcony was right above the restaurant in the hotel so we could to smell the AMAZING Italian food every night haha. We went there for dinner one night and couldn't have asked for any better. The food was outstanding, service was unbeatable, and the violin players were on point! I'm not one to leave reviews but this place needs a shout out!! I would stay there again and again. We stayed for 5 days. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. This was the place we had dreamed of and we found it at the Bellview! 15 out of 10 stars!

This is the most beautiful and unique hotel I have ever stayed at and we have traveled US and Europe extensively. Every room is unique and authentic to the Mexican Culture. Gorgeous tiled bathrooms, curved ceilings covered in brick and antique furniture. The setting of this hotel feels like you stepped back in time (with of course modern luxuries). It is walkable to the Malecon with steps but if steps are not your thing - then very easy to catch a taxi. Love this hotel!!

Downtown PV is within walking distance and the rooms are gorgeous and so unique. Not to mention the VIEW!! My first stay in Bellview it was breath taking. I felt like I stepped back in time but very clean. Room has A/C , WiFi , TV. Daniela and all the workers were very helpful and kind. The breakfast 🤌🏽 I had chilaquiles de mole every morning. The pool closes at 4pm but understandable, u don’t want people staring at u while they eat. But pool was perfect on a hot day. Warning, clock rings every 15 minutes for 24 hours but it didn’t bother me, I can sleep through anything. What woke me up was the hard bed! I had to sleep on the pillows for some comfort. Very very close to el malekon. Bring good long distance walking shoes, barely any need for Uber at this location. I will definitely be back.

Our first time staying at the Bellview Boutique Hotel and it definitely won’t be our last. Our room was beautiful, with an amazing view and very clean. Loved the ice machine perk, very nice. The staff are outstanding, very friendly, and helpful. This hotel was such a treat. We loved that the hotel was small and quiet, very relaxing. The new pool is great and even though the weather was not the best we enjoyed sitting in the lounge chairs taking in the ambiance and view. People talk about the church bells, and yes the bells do ring and it seems at times with no rhyme or reason but we knew this going into the hotel and we felt it was just part of being near a beautiful church and staying here. The bells did not bother us. Highly recommended a stay at this property

This hotel is gorgeous. The décor could be too much, but it's not, it's just perfect and it felt authentic. ||The room was very private, spacious with a beautiful bath room, balcony with a beautiful view, great size bed, and all the amenities you might need. ||The pool area is not big, but is enough, the pool was the perfect temperature and we had a wonderful afternoon with drinks. ||The service is their strong suite. All the team (Noelia and Daniela from reception, Alfredo and all the servers from the bar and restaurant) were so welcoming and professional. Everything is very clean, and we had wonderful days here!||The only thing in our opinion wasn't great, was the food. We felt the breakfast was not even close to the quality of the hotel. It's very limited (fruit, pancake, eggs, potato and bacon). It's heavy food for the weather and the exact same thing everyday. It was ok for one and maybe even 2 days, but on the third we were eating just the fruit and juice, sometimes a pancake. They could definitely improve their menu and give us a few more choices. ||The food was also not good on the dinner we had in their restaurant.

We had a wonderful stay at the bellview in PV. From the friendly and helpful front desk to the attentive waiters in the amazing Capella restaurant, the service was impeccable. |Daniella and Chantal in the front office offered a wealth of information and we’re always present to assist us with a smile. Truly appreciated. ||We were celebrating a birthday and the front desk sent the most delicious chocolate covered strawberries to our room. We also had dinner in the restaurant, and enjoyed the strolling violinists and the delicious food served facing the fabulous view and sunset. ||One day we had forgotten to turn our “make the room sign” and when we returned late afternoon we wanted to get some fresh towels and within just a few minutes, someone came to refresh our bathroom. ||The hotel itself is quaint and tastefully appointed with each room having its own charm. Ours had an exceptionally large balcony o overlooking Our lady of Guadalupe church. In addition to being large we enjoyed having a veranda complete with a fountain ( hence the name fuente Milagros) |Bedding was firm just the way we like it. |Overall a great stay! We would not hesitate to recommend this lovely place.

Yelp
I booked a one-bed room suite and pre-paid the hotel. The hotel charged me $50 more than the quoted Orbitz' price, and when I questioned it, the hotel owner said that exchange rates fluctuate daily and that it was common for the actual price to be different from the quoted price. I researched it, and I could not find that the rate had spiked 4% in any recent time period. When I checked in, the hotel asked me to pay for the room. I told them it was pre-paid, and they insisted that it was not. It was not until I produced a receipt did they accept that it was pre-paid. After that they led me what they call a Superior Deluxe room, a corner room with a partial view. The room I booked was labeled "Panoramic Single Room, 1 Bedroom, Bay View," which was written on the confirmation I showed the owner of the hotel. He said that that room description does not exist. He then took me to another room which he said was a Deluxe Superior, and it was not until the next day I discovered that that room was in fact just a Deluxe room. Long story short, they downgraded me two levels. I paid $280 a night for a suite, and they put me in a $130 room. They insisted the room I originally booked did not exist, but when I found photos of the room, they said, that that room did exist but they never make it available. They refused to refund me the $743 difference. After spending about 20 hours on the phone with Orbitz, Orbitz forced them to refund me the money. I was so creeped out by the management at this hotel that I didn't even eat in the restaurant. I've traveled all over the world, stayed at hundreds of different hotels and have never had an experience like this. If you do stay here, DON'T prepay the hotel. Pay through Orbitz or wait until you see what kind of room they are giving you and then negotiate a price. I also involved VISA, and VISA said I was not protected because I accepted some sort of room at the hotel. VISA said I should have refused to check into the hotel, and that is the only way I would get protection through them. This would have been a challenge as I would have then had to on foot, walk around Puerto Vallarta at night with my luggage looking for an alternate room.
