The 18 Best Things to Do in San Diego, From Art Museum Visits to Scenic Hikes

"Amusement parks can be kitschy, indulgent, and a little cheesy—and at Belmont Park, we embrace it. Belmont Park – Theme Park Review | Condé Nast Traveler

"Give us the big picture: What’s the vibe of the place, what’s it like? Amusement parks can be kitschy, indulgent, and a little cheesy—and at Belmont Park, we embrace it. The ocean-adjacent San Diego mini amusement park is hard to miss as you drive west on Mission Bay Drive, thanks to the towering Giant Dipper roller coaster that serves as the park's centerpiece. What are the must-dos here? First things first: Ride the coaster. Built in 1925, the 2,600-foot-long Giant Dipper is a fun, rattling ride that soars above the park and offers ocean views. If you're ready for more, have a go on other classics like the Tilt-a-Whirl, zipline, or bumper cars. For lower-octane pursuits, there's also an arcade and carousel. New attractions include the Mic Drop, a ten-seat ride that goes up and drops down from three stories, and a 12-lane rock climbing wall with sections for novice and advanced climbers. How easy is it to get around? Belmont Park is far smaller than a Six Flags or Disney, so don't worry about provisioning yourself for several days here. You can spend a breezy half day (or less) taking in the rides, games, and tacos. And when you need a breather, Mission Beach is just a few steps away. For those with mobility issues, the park has wheelchair ramps at the Giant Dipper as well as assistance for about eight other rides, including bumper cars. Certain attractions, like Tilt-a-Whirl and Crazy Submarine, are difficult for those in wheelchairs. Who is this park best for? Belmont Park is best for kids and adults who don't take themselves too seriously. If you turn your nose up at hot dogs, corny graphic tees, and loud kids, this won't be the place for you." - Archana Ram

Wow what can I say if you haven't been to Belmont park you need to go. This little amusement park is right off of the beach. It is free to get in, but if you are going to get on the rides all of them I suggest get a wristband. If not a lot of the rides are like seven tickets and up. Each ticket costs a dollar. There are clothing stores here as well as gift shops. Has a lot of concession stands with amazing food. They also have this area called The Plunge or something where it's an indoor pool for the kids where the parents can work out at top. And the price is very reasonable and decent. There is also an arcade here as well as a little Carnival booths. And if you get bored here it's just a hop skip and jump away from the beach you walk to the back and there you go. Like I said if you haven't been here to Belmont in San Diego, it's a must your kids will love it. Here are some pictures from this park. Hope you enjoy, God bless you all.

Google
Great historic beachfront amusement park right by mission beach that’s fun for all ages. The wooden coaster was very fun to ride, and exceeded expectations. The gyroscope/swinging ride was also a blast but would recommend not doing it on a full stomach nor if you get queasy easily. Also keep valuables in lockers or have somebody hold it while you ride because I saw someone’s phone drop from a ride and into a crack only accessible by the maintenance crew which took a while for them to get to. Miraculously phone was okay due to its case but don’t try your luck. Lots of things to do and parking was abundant.

Google
Don't come on the weekends! Belmont park shares same parking spot as mission beach and parking spot is hard to come by. Closing doesn't match what online say because google said it closed 7pm on the weekend but when I ask the people that work there. they said they closed 11 pm and happy hour deals on food starts 8pm and that's were night club people comes flocking in. Wouldn't recommend to buy souvenirs here, there much better deals on mission beach strip. Restroom are clean and well kept. So much activities and so busy!

Google
My wife found this place. This was our second time visiting San Diego. Our children had a ball. Between the food and the rides. We made great memories. I really had a wonderful time. The only thing that pissed me off was the parking. You have to kidding me. The parking is the worst I've ever seen. I'll never drive there ever again.

Google
As of this writing (June 2025), I’ve been to 48 of the 50 USA states (sorry North Dakota & Michigan) and you will be hard pressed at any age to find a better spot than Belmont Park and everything it offers within a true ten minute walk from the main parking lot near the arcade and coaster. The beaches are spectacular, people watching, boardwalk (actually a cement path great for roller skates, skate boards, running, walking, whatever). The photos and video will say more than I can with words. Also — everyone is so chill and friendly. You can’t come here and be stressed, it’s just impossible. And even if you think you don’t burn, bring sunscreen because you lose track of time and you’ll get lots of sun without realizing it.

Google
Absolute fun! Perfect destination for fun with the family. Rides, games, toys, shops. The kids will have a blast; the adults can eat drink and play too. The park is clean and spacious. Good times.

Google
Loved this Boardwalk amusement park. It was our version of Castles and Coasters here in Phoenix but 100 times better. The Giant dipper did not disappoint!!! Love to bring my kids here again.

Google
Haven't been to Bealmont Park since early 2000, this place changed a lot. Now, my kids can enjoy what I did in the past. It is also next to a beautiful beach. Come early, the parking lot gets packed.

Yelp
Small amusement park located on the beach in Mission Beach. It is absolutely free to enter the park. Parking is also free. They have two parking lots on either side of the amusement park. which fill up quickly. There's a second parking lot across the street and it was very easy to find parking there. All of the rides require a ticket and you can purchase tickets from the ticket booth. They will load the tickets onto a card that has a QR code. I only went to ride the roller coaster, which is usually eight tickets or eight dollars. Since it was national roller coaster day on Friday, August 16th it was half-price. The roller coaster is about 100 years old. It is an old wooden coaster. It was fun and fast, but very rickety. I had a blast. All of the other rides are mostly for smaller children. There is also a large Dave and busters style arcade. There are a few choices for food, including hotdogs on a stick ice cream, funnel cakes, hamburgers, etc. The park was safe and clean. The beach is just steps away.

Yelp
The historic place that opened since 1925 so many memories I got here from the year 2009 until now, stuffs getting changed every day, but some stayed the same like the iconic roller coaster ride, and other main attractions like the arcades and carousel, a lot of food options from ice cream to burgers and more, a lot of good bars, some shopping and souvenirs stores, I can not remember how many times or occasions I spent here, some with friends and family for special events of all kinds, but anyway the beach was also a plus for visiting here since it was right next to the park, and well the only thing I dislike, parking

Yelp
A really fun affordable place for the family to have some fun. Here are my takeaways: -For kids who like to ride rides, get the unlimited ride pass, but buy it online ahead of time. You'll save $20-$40 per pass. -I would not get a pass for myself again. It was a better deal to pay per ride -Bring your beach stuff, the park is literally on the beach. Plenty of families and kids were vacillating back and forth between the beach and the park -There is no entry fee or re-entry fee, the whole place is open which is super nice if you want to leave and grab a bite somewhere else or go chill on the beach for awhile We spent a good part of the day riding rides with a wait time never exceeding more than 10 minutes (most wait times were 5 minutes or less). It's a fun and inexpensive way to spend the day with kids. A great value and an awesome spot on the beach!

Yelp
we seriously loved loved loved going to Belmont Park. Oh my goodness it was so fun. We went here to celebrate our daughters fourth birthday and it was so empty and it really seemed like it was just for us lol When we first entered the parking lot, it was really small. It seems like like there was only like I don't know 20 spaces but then we went around and there was like a lot more parking on the other side oops hahaha Our favorite part or the girls favorite part was the carousel ride that was really cool there is a lot of cool rides there too!! the parks hours was 11 AM to 8 PM. The parking was free and I believe you just pay for individual tickets or rides to rides. There is no like general ticket. there was so many photo opportunities as well and there was an arcade for the kids and even carnival games as well. The kids loved it and if you just walk a little further, we were seriously by the beach and it was awesome. Absolutely loved it!!! i would totally go here again w the fam!!

Yelp
Still a fun place to visit after all these years. I used to visit often when I was a young adult. Now that I have my own kids, I made the trek and I was blown away at how nicely it's been remodeled. Parking was a cinch. Getting around the park was easy too! It's well maintained and has many options to choose from in terms of drink, food, rides and retail. It also helps that it's steps away from the beach. There is live music and an arcade. I plan on coming back soon!

Yelp
Had some time to kill and stumbled upon this cute place: went on a few rides and then went to the beach after! It's not cheap but if you want a few hours of fun I recommend!
google avatar

Janeth A.

Yelp
Cute, small amusement park - great for a family day! We didn't buy any passes or enjoy any of the rides, because we have very small children. We mostly went for the food and scenery. They currently have all the florals for Belmont in Bloom and it was super cute! We had dole whip floats and churro ice cream! Very yummy. Overall it's a good place for a stroll, snacks, shopping, lunch, and beach day.

Yelp
This historic beachfront amusement park offers something for everyone: thrilling rides, arcade games, wave pools, and stunning ocean views. The park's nostalgic charm and laid-back atmosphere make it a great spot for families, date nights, or solo adventures.

Yelp
Discount tickets at Costco included generous arcade allowance. Had a total blast including roller coaster, ropes course, tilt-a-whirl, laser tag, miniature golf and much more. Spent over 5 hours here from opening at 11am on a Sunday. Recommend coming early for close parking and short wait times. Great day at Belmont Park!
google avatar

Yelp
What a great place to take your kids while in the SD area! Lots of cute rides and arcade games for them to play. There is also a climbing wall and zip line for the more adventurous folks. The Plunge swim pool was also a huge hit for our kids with their inflatable course. There were a bunch of different foods options and shops to drop in on. I wish there were more bathrooms available throughout the place since it is so large. And the prices for tickets vs. the number of tickets required for each game/ride seems pretty steep. I would recommend getting there on the early side since parking can be challenging once it's afternoon time.
google avatar

Cindy C.

Yelp
My family, and I love this place! You can walk around, ride the rides, shop, and eat. There is no admission fee, which is great but you will need to buy tickets of course to ride the rides. Parking is free. There are different options to eat, including pizza, salads, burgers, and fries. There are great shops there to get souvenirs or T-shirts along with beach toys and fun items for kids. The place is dog friendly, which is extra nice.my family and I really enjoy going here.

Yelp
What is been one place that brings back childhood memories and the many tastes of the Boardwalk? There has been one place that has been here bin here in San Diego for so many years since the city has first started the beach side airport that was located by Mission Beach. What has happened? The storms that had hit the city of San Diego and the many North County and the many pacific cities and those that are located along our Coastline. There is something very special about Belmont Park and the many areas around the beach front city the many places that are there it was much different. With the war that was going on overseas and the many that were having to stay and take care of the kids there was a place that had everything to it and the food and the games to go along with the Belmont Park. The one thing that had go to people attention was the rides and the and the Boardwalk games they could throw a baseball and the games catching a fish in the fish bowls. The many that had tested the men was the sledgehammer that was the test of strength and far you could hit the lever to put the arrow to go to the top to ring the bell. Back in the heady days of Belmont Park you could smell the different foods and the popcorn and the caramel apples that you could get at the boardwalk. Mom or dad would be the ones to get the tickets and get the best shot at the target guns and the biggest doll they had on the wall that was the one game even the kids became the crack shot of Daniel Bone. This was my day to go and search and take a walk amusement park but when I had arrived at the park was closed and the many stores and the restaurants that were still open. I was able to find out that the park will be having a Grand Opening in the Month of March and the many places down the middle of the Boardwalk will have a brand-new look and the Dipper will have a fresh new look and painted. The many places of the board walk and the stores there are many new eateries and new restaurants that you can have a great dinner and the cutbacks have been to the many bar areas and the restructured of the of the boardwalk making the park much newer and more modern and bringing back the Good Vibes to Belmont Park. There was a lot of construction and the many workmen that were there and the many that were working on the Big Dipper Roller Coaster. The many areas of the Belmont Park were under the full construction and the beach accesses that was open, and you could up and down the main beach boardwalk with the many rules in place there is no alcohol or the smoking of Cigarettes. By the way the park was under great amounts of construction and the Opening coming in March of this year and with the new look of the Belmont Boardwalk and the new Dipper Rollercoaster. As a Yelp Elte Reviewer the day was one of the most Incredible days to see something that was over 100years old and the great work that was going into it with the many new things that were going to be added with the addition of more new places to eat and the redesign of the board to bring back the Old Days. The smell of the hot dogs and the cotton candy and the rings of the bells as kids won prizes and your mom and dad could sit down and have a dinner together to watch the kids play the games.

Yelp
Way too expensive, but definitely fun for the kids. Staff lacks in the friendly department. Other than the roller coaster staff everyone seems like they hate their job. Nancy at the zipline was particularly rude and obnoxious. Her attitude alone makes me never want to bring my family again.
google avatar

Yelp
I WANTED TO LIKE IT MORE... so I'm probably in the minority here but Belmont Park is barely hitting a three star rating for me. It's cute and has a fun carnival vibe but it's very cramped. Also, some of the rides are $17 just for one ride? That's kind of insane. Also, the place is very touristy (not in a good way) and full of obnoxious wannabe influencers and entitled folks. People didn't really have a good vibe, lots of salty people in my age group being rude. The parking situation was a total mess, not only is parking extremely limited but it's very tight and dangerous. I will say that I was impressed with the amount of activities for kids and families to enjoy. There's a public pool called Plunge, the Belmont Amusement Park, Arcade, Mini-Golf, laser tag, and several shops with good souvenir deals. I also found a zip-line station, I almost tried it! The food looked good, lots of carnival selections, like funnel cake, burgers, pizza and more. Overall, I'd give it another try but it's definitely overhyped and the behaviors here kind of ruined it for me.
google avatar

Joann T.

Yelp
Cute area to walk around but not much to do for just adults (definitely a great place for kids though). We were told by the workers that the laser maze would be good for us but it was literally a tiny room with just 4 or 5 laser beams (it was nowhere near what they advertised on the site) it took 5 seconds to complete (what a waste of $10). The iconic roller coaster had a beautiful view of the ocean at the top. Warning: it hurts like a mf swaying and bumping back and forth on those hard seats (reminds me of a mild version of the ghost rider at knotts).
google avatar

Yelp
Belmont Park is an amusement park located at Mission Beach. There's lots of fun things to do, like ride a rollercoaster, climb a wall, zip line, and swim in an indoor pool. There's also restaurants and ice cream and sweet shops. It's like the county fair, but it's available year round. On my visit, Mother's Day, there were several cute photo ops that included beautiful flower arrangements. There is also shopping. We forgot our sunscreen and I ended up paying $18 for a bottle, ouch. Here's a tip, don't forget your sun screen lol. They sell alcohol which can be consumed inside the park. We stopped by a beachside restaurant and did some boardwalk people watching while sipping a local brew. The boardwalk was nice and wide. You can also rent bikes nearby. This area was very busy. I would like to go back on a weekday when it's a little less crowded.

Yelp
Belmont Park is a complete tourist amusement park filled with San Diego souvenir shops, fair food, a variety of games including Rock climbing and a descent size rollercoaster. This place has grown to be a perfect place to enjoy a weekend. Centrally located in Mission Beach, it showcases a fun time for everyone in a family. Delicious food, a cutwater bar In the mid center of the park with other bars & places to eat surrounding the park and facing the beach side. The beach is also just feet away from the park allowing people to enjoy the view and air and also some great entertainment. I'd highly recommend new visitors get the day pass of unlimited rides if they have children or to enjoy yourself. There's plenty of rides to choose from and well worth it if you get a chance to ride most of them. Many popular celebrities like Ryan Garcia have been spotted at the popular Big chair photo spot in the entrance of Belmont park too so you never know who you might see in this very busy but clean amusement park. Another thing to note is that they have many park security within the area and many children roaming around running from ride to ride but it seems quite safe. Parking can be a little crazy depending on the time of year you go but there's several places to park and if you are patient you will eventually find one. All parking is free around the beach connecting parking lots to the park.

Yelp
I came here with the kiddos, and they seemed to have enjoyed themselves. Some rides were not working, so that was disappointing. The pricing for things were also pretty overpriced considering how run down some of the rides looked. Overall, the kids had fun, so I guess it worked out.

Yelp
Lots of things to do in belmont park san diego, family friendly lots of things to do for all ages , from rock climbing, roller coaster, bumper cars, laser tag & more, no wait lines .the all day pass is great but i recommend checking out Groupon first for the all day pass its cheaper. The churros are really good too.

Kelani M.

Yelp
5 stars for the security helping us today in the parking lot. They handled it so professionally. A guy parked his car and we were after him.... He gets out his car to hold the spot next to him for his friend. Mind you after the whole altercation his friend was literally 5 mins away wasn't even in the parking lot. So I asked him if we could park since we're here and he was being a typical Ken. I simply called security over after getting a middle finger from him and guess what.... YOU CAN'T HOLD PARKING SPOTS HERE! So don't do it cause you'll end up looking like the stupid one. Check the pictures out and watch out for this guy. I'm making awareness so other people don't do this at the park.

Yelp
Wow, I was harassed by a janitor here during my kid's school field trip. There was a piece of garbage near my feet, I didn't put it there. But this janitor took his garbage picking tongs and nearly stabbed me with it. He was very aggressive, and he kept standing there giving me dirty looks and being intimidating with his garbage picking tool. He kept standing there and circling around me giving me dirty looks. He was so angry and hyperventilating, even though I didn't do anything wrong. I felt very unsafe and harassed. This is not acceptable. Description of employee: caucasian man, age 40s or 50s, with short black and gray hair. If this happens again I will file a police report.

Yelp
This place is always a good spot to hang out at, especially on a beautiful San Diego day! Ride lines weren't that long and they had a deal on all-day passes. Highly recommend coming here early because parking can become hectic

Lori C.

Yelp
Yes, I would definitely recommend Belmont Park. We came here on Sunday, June 30th with daughter, s-i-l and two gkids, 7 and 4 years. Everyone had a great time. Right at the beach. 71 degrees with a breeze. Pizza Port two slices of pix and a bottled water were $14. I like their pizza. Man selling well drinks for $7.50, and they are not weak. We bought two unlimited ride Groupon passes for $51.25 each the day before Father's Day but my s-i-l got sick, so we had to postpone it. The Groupon said it was good for any day in 2024, but if you read the fine print, which I did not, it expired on June 23, 2024. I contacted Belmont Park, who said they have many complaints and they said it was Groupon who has this discrepancy. When I emailed Groupon, they said it was Belmont Park's fault. There was nothing I could do as the Groupon expired. Luckily Belmont Park honored it for the $51.25 each that I paid. We could use it for tickets or towards an unlimited park pass. The normal park pass is $64.90 per person, but today they were having a special of $54.90, so we ended up paying $7.20 to be able to use this Groupon pass and still get the unlimited rides. We are 70 and 66, so we have only used it for the big dipper roller coaster, the zip line 2x and the miniature golf. Our daughter and family have used it more. If you are going to be riding a lot of rides, it would be worth it, but if not, it might be worth it just to buy the individual tickets. I would check the price for the day at Belmont Park. It isn't much of a savings buying a Groupon if the price is reduced, but about a $13 savings per ticket if you have to pay full price. If you do decide to buy, check the fine print for the expiration date.

Yelp
What a super fun place to take the whole FAM! we came during the Christmas holiday for some 80 degree sunshine in SD. this place does not disappoint. there is plenty of parking if come just around opening time. it gets a lot harder as the day goes on, especially during the holidays. so many different experiences for kids of all ages and abilities. the rides range from baby friendly to teen fun on the roller coaster. plenty of food options as well and you can walk around with your adult beverage. they have carnival games and a good sized arcade to entertain your wallet! highly recommend and we'll be back on our next trip SD!
google avatar

Jess C.

Yelp
What a fun place! Always a must when we visit San Diego. It's not that big, it's a small amusement park. But lots of things to do. My family and I enjoyed the food as well. Funnel cake and ice cream was so good. I loved how it's so close to the beach! After some fun rides and delicious food, head over to the beach and watch the sun set. If you're lucky you might even see some dolphins in the distance. Sooo magical for me.
google avatar

Aileen M.

Yelp
Belmont Park is a beachside amusement park in San Diego. Entrance and parking is free. And, there are a ton of rides (including a huge wooden roller coaster called The Giant Dipper, laser tag, mini golf, rock climbing, a zip line), restaurants, and shops. Its a really cool way to spend a few hours with your family because there is something for just about anyone. And, since it's right next to Mission Beach, the family can just relax on the beach, too!
google avatar

Tiffany C.

Yelp
Love this place! Free parking, no lines for rides, and right by the beach. We got the unlimited rides wrist bands and it's totally worth it. The older one loves climbing the rock wall and the ropes course. The younger one loves bumper cars. They both loved the laser maze and laser tag.
google avatar

Sergio G.

Yelp
Place is an average place to visit but definitely fun if you get the unlimited wristbands. Food is average but great service. Arcade is pretty cool and great selection. Rides are great but the rollercoaster is painful! Definitely pricy but still lots of fun.
google avatar

Jordan V.

Yelp
It's such a fun thing to do while in San Diego!! Rides and games if you'd like, food and FUNNEL CAKES. We walked from tower 25(30 minutes) just for the only place around here to get a funnel cake and it was great. If you're wanting one they are only $6! For a giant one! It's at the corner little restaurant window closer to the tables. The guys working there were so nice!!
google avatar

Janey C.

Yelp
This is an awesome place to bring the family without breaking the bank! There are plenty of things to do for all ages such as rides, laser tag, a rock climbing wall, an escape room, and an arcade. The food options are great too! I recommend having lunch at Belmonty's Burgers then having milkshakes and donuts from Baked & Blended for dessert!
google avatar

Robert B.

Yelp
Belmont Park is a great place to take your kids on a summer day to enjoy the rides and arcade, and of course the roller coaster and bumper cars. I was there recently to renew my granddaughters annual pass, and I noticed now that they have tier pricing for their passes similar to Disneyland and their prices really increased. Before you could buy an annual pass and it was open year round except for certain holidays. I renewed my granddaughters annual pass but it cost as much as a Disneyland ticket! However, they did give us two free passes to the Plunge and a refillable collector cup. I feel sorry for the families with two more children who want to come here year-round because the passes are very expensive.
google avatar

Max Y.

Yelp
Our Airbnb was located right next to this park. It was a great place to hit up on Friday and it wasn't even that busy. There were many rides available but the bracelet was really expensive for all you can ride. We went on the roller coaster since that was the only "adult" like ride, and it felt like an old school wooden roller coaster. You can find all the different rides such as, bumper cars and carousel rides. You can spend the day on the beach and hit up the park if you're bored. There is a huge arcade with numerous different games to choose from. The food is galore, but you can go around it and find other items like tacos at El Jefe if you don't want carnival food. But who doesn't want a funnel cake! My recommendation is to go during the evening so that it's not so hot and you can enjoy all the lights. The park is not that big so you can truly spend a couple of hours and if you're an adult, hit up a late night happy hour afterwards at one of the restaurants.

Yelp
It is a Beachfront Amusement, Shopping and dining park located in Mission Beach of San Diego. It is  free to enter. Tickets are for rides; either you can purchase per ride or you can have a pass which will cost $60. You can enjoy the whole day hanging out there. There are many activities in Belmont park for all ages.  There are many beach side dining  restaurants with the spectacular view.  In addition to their famous rides, beachfront broad walk and many business to shop at. Although there are many parking lots, but it is chaotic to find a parking spot. We went twice there, the first time we drove around all the parking lots ( because there are many). We unsuccessfully did not find any single spot, although it was a weekday,so we gave up and we left. We were determined to go for the second time, but this time we used  ride share service which was much easier and relaxing. It is a great amusement park to visit when you are in San Diego

Yelp
I bought the tickets online because one of the reviews I read said it would be cheaper to do so, but they were actually cheaper in person lol. They were $65 online and $50 in person the day we went for the all day pass. This doesn't include everything at the park though. You can only go on the rides and the zipline twice. You can also go rock climbing. The games are not included. They tell you all this if you go to the information booth. Also, get a wristband at the ticket booth because it's a lot easier than showing the tickets on your phone at every ride lol. I saw online that they have a go kart track. Not sure if that's a seasonal thing/special event type of thing, but they didn't have it when we went. Also saw a lot of people post about the ice cream ... get it!!!! It's $11 but it's HUGE and they only have that one size so might not want to get it for the kiddos. There's two rides that are fast and the rest are fun, but not super big like six flags or Disneyland type. The sunset was also really nice to watch. There are so much people every where though. We went around 3 pm-8 pm and it took about 15 minutes for us to find a parking stall. But for the amount of people that were there, we only had to wait like 5-10 minutes for each ride. I would come here again! My brother and sister also had a lot of fun.

Yelp
Belmont Park is a nod to amusement parks and carnivals at the same time. It's outdoors and is free to get in, you just pay for the attractions, which is nice for people who want to bring their kids but may not want to ride the rides or play the games themselves. You'll find some rides such as a roller coaster, rock climbing wall and tilt-a-whirl (a family favorite!) along with plenty of games to eat up your hard earned money. If you plan to do a lot of the attractions, it might be best to purchase a wrist band that gets you into most everything. One of the coolest things is the zip line-especially right as the sun is setting. I highly recommend you time your ride to take you whizzing through the park as the sun sets. The view is amazing. Fill out the online waiver while you wait in line. There is also a good amount of carnival food-churros, popcorn, pizza and ice cream. If you're lucky, you might catch some of the live entertainment on the stage as well. Parking is free and close, although can get full quickly during peak visiting time.

Yelp
We loved Belmont Park. There was plenty of free parking next to the park. And it's just a block away from the beach. The old wooden Rollercoaster that sounds, feels, and looks like it's 75 years old was a thrill. No loops or twists...just good old-fashioned roller coaster jerking and a loud ride. We chose this park using San Diego Go Pass. We must have done the bumper cars a dozen times. The lines for everything on a Wednesday from 2 to 8 pm were non-existent up to 12 minutes for the Rollercoaster. Hate over-priced amusement park food? There are plenty of restaurants within walking distance out of the park, which means walking 2 or 3 city blocks. We spent 5 hours there. It's a small park, but we had a lot of fun. Perfect for the kid!

Yelp
Belmont Park is your quintessential beach boardwalk amusement park. It's a summertime rite of passage and lives up to the billing. They do a decent job with staffing and maintaining the rides. Even at the busiest times the lines will be relatively short, comparatively speaking anyway, to a place like Disney or Legoland. Basically everything here is on a smaller scale and the lines reflect that. They have a variety of rides for both little ones and older riders. Thrillseekers: don't expect anything on the level of six flags. Also check the website calendar if there is a particular ride, you really want to try as they do publish which rides, if any, will be closed on any given day.

Yelp
This is definitely a tourist attraction and even if you're local it's something fun to do/take the kids out to/even stroll along for on a date! From the rides, arcade, food joints, restaurants, beachside, vendors, you can't say that it's anything short of things to do. Only downside is parking can be a super big pain especially in the summertime since you are in the beachy tourist area. Even so in wintertime is still packed especially during weekends. The arcade is also very small and pricey. However you're there for the experience so take advantage of the scenery and props especially during the holidays!

Yelp
I took my girlfriend here for the first time. I've been a million times as a San Diego native but she wanted to see what the hype was about so I figured why not. It certainly looks much different from how I remember it. I hadn't been in forever. We only got on two rides. The pendulum ride and the Giant Dipper. The Giant Dipper is exactly how I remember it lol extremely rickety. I ended up with a bruised arm and whiplash from getting tossed around like raggedy ann on there but we had a good time. Never again though lol. This is a really cool place to take your kids or even live out your carnival date fantasies. There's a lot to do, a lot to eat, and when you get bored with the boardwalk, you can always go watch the waves right there in the beach or go chill across the street at the bay.

Yelp
Came here for Thanksgiving Day and was playing with my friend in the miniature golf. It was tons of fun & laughters! And then we just sit in one of the benches to catches up on lost times and things. The park staff were super friendly and escorted my party out when they were closing for the night.

Yelp
Super family friendly! The rides are perfect for kids and the ice cream is so good. They have mini golf and laser tag along with a sky walk obstacle course! 10/10 for families and kids

Yelp
Great family amusement park. Came with friends and family. A good variety of rides. They had a deal where you buy one wristband get the second free. We enjoyed it and so did my kids.

Yelp
I don't care how cheesy or tourist trap-y they may be, but I LOVE boardwalk amusement parks. And so I made it a mission to come here at some point during our San Diego trip. While this one is not literally on a boardwalk over the water, it sits right by the shore and has the same feel. It actually feels a bit bigger since it has more space to work with. This should be obvious, but if you come during the weekend in the summer, it's going to be busy as all hell. While there are two giant, free parking lots right next door, they will likely be full and will have multiple cars circling around them. It was a little stressful at first, but we ended up finding another free lot just down the road. the park itself surprisingly was not that busy, but more so the neighboring beach. There's quite a few different activities you can do here: rides, shops, restaurants, zip-lining, rock walls.... Not to mention a looong strip of businesses down Mission Street. Our top priority was to ride the roller coaster, and so we did. The rides are pay per ride, which we were able to buy easily online and cost about 8 bucks per person for the coaster. Lemme tell you, that thing is old and *rough*, but so much fun. There's also a giant arcade and other small rides, so you could easily spend a few hours here. It was a really great time!

Yelp
I went here in November. Sadly it rained so we couldn't enjoy everything we wanted to as we had to make a mass dash for the truck. But the main thing we came here for was a funnel cake because we were trying to try the holiday red velvet funnel cake. I have to say that I was extremely disappointed. Our funnel cake was burnt to a crisp, which we didn't notice because we were waiting for so long for someone to call our order and needed to rush out of the rain. People who arrived after us were getting called before us so we finally went to the window in hopes to ask about our order, when we were silently handed a red velvet funnel cake. Because of the rain, we took the item ran to our truck and then had a taste while we were in the parking lot. It was a huge disappointment to find that our funnel cake was crispy burnt grease bread. At first glance you wouldn't have noticed it was burnt cause of the attractive vibrant red velvet color. Once we tried it, I made the assumption that our order number wasn't called because someone realized this, and was probably making us another one and us being given the burnt item may have been a miscommunication with the employees there. The rain was pouring down so we just decided to let it go. $10 down the drain. So my main suggestion is because these small concession shops are being ran by young teenagers, just check your food beforehand and make sure it's up to your standards or satisfaction. Don't rush off like we did. Based on other reviews, the funnel cakes seem to be great here so I'm hoping that the next visit that I ever have, I can be proven wrong.

Yelp
Quite a fun amusement park for children up to young adults. While their unlimited ride pass seemed the most cost effective, they had smaller attractions that could easily serve as an affordable date activity for couples. Some rides unfortunately weren't up to standard as certain equipment or parts of the ride weren't functional. The overall experience of each activity was still fulfilling as we didn't lose much from having passes, but I would avoid the 3-D rides for visitors paying for each attraction. Laser tagging involved a substantial number of tickets but considering the costs of laser tagging elsewhere, consistently replaying here would make the unlimited pass worth it. The line for this was hidden in the arcade and they needed better signage to indicate how long the wait would be and if a game was in session. Multiple groups left as a result so there weren't many of us participating once the round started. While I rather not be swamped with children, this particular activity would have been more fun with a larger group. However, I found the tagging quality to be on par with other locations and I would definitely return to here. The rollercoaster was surprisingly fast and brutal. The employee was lenient on what items could be brought on and my glasses nearly fell off during the ride. Hang on tight to your stuff or else place it in their designated cubbies. Not too extreme but it might be too much for younger children. Go-karting wasn't what I expected but I loved how it was the superior version of bumper cars. The bumper cars station was closed for the day so we decided to race instead but was surprised at how confined and collisional the activity was. We select our vehicles and proceeded to ram each other at high speeds. Particularly fun if you know how to drive. Ice cream twirl resembled the tea cups from Disneyland without user input and leniency. Surprisingly whipped us around quickly and caused some of my companions to be dizzy. However I enjoyed the whiplash--they actually twirl you. Tiki golf consumed most of our time and the whole experience was very hands off. Once we were given our clubs, it was free reign and the timing was dependent on the group in front. Some of the courses were a bit worn out but it was fun repeating them while waiting for the group. While the decor was tiki inspired, I wished the course incorporated more of a theme to it. The ball was collected at the last course where shooting it into a particular hole would reward park dollars. We took nearly an hour with this attraction and I can see families enjoying this slower activity. Food was pricey here but no one was stopped from leaving the park to each at nearby establishments. Grab some Mexican food next door or have a slice at Round Table to not burn a whole in your wallet. The funnel cake and dole whip were worth the price though. The employees weren't the most enthusiastic but they were courteous and efficient. Certain rides closed earlier than others so I wouldn't save the park experience for the evening. Wished there was consistency with their rides so we didn't have to constantly ask staff members if they were still open. Overall, I'm content with Belmont Park being an option for families in San Diego even though it wasn't perfect.

Yelp
This place is boring. If you ever have the thought "should I go to Belmont park?" Just stay home and do some crocheting. You'll have more fun.

Yelp
It cost about a dollar a ticket to do rides. Most rides start at 5. It's a fun place lots of food places.

Yelp
So... my kids would definitely rate Belmont Park five stars, but from a parent perspective, it was a solid three, but I'm feeling generous and rounding up to four. In town early for a big soccer tournament, we joined a couple of other families to treat the kids to an amusement park experience at Belmont on a recent Friday. We arrived right around 11am when they opened and opted for the wristbands for an unlimited ride experience... We were there for a few hours, so this was the most cost effective decision. That being said, the park itself seemed old and not the cleanest. They were understaffed, so employees would be working one ride and if they saw a line for another, they'd stop the one they were working at to head to help at another. This caused a long wait for some of the rides and a lot of frustration for attendees. In addition to rides, there are games to play and win stuffed animals, an arcade, food and drink vendors, etc... My daughter and I won the balloon popping game. (The trick is to throw really hard at an area with several balloons!). My son lost at the basketball game, but we think it was rigged because he usually never misses ;). He did get a constellation prize at least! Our group purchased some hot pretzel bites, ice cream, Dippin' Dots, etc... There is also a zip line, mini golf, and pool area that we did not get to participate in. Bottom line: if you're in the area and looking for an old school amusement park activity for kids, adults, or both, this place delivers. Enjoy!
