I ordered from Belmont on Sunday after receiving a $10 off coupon from DoorDash in the mail. It's a new delivery service in Richmond similar to Caviar, Postmates, or Uber Eats. Their mission is to have food delivered within an hour, which seemed like a cool idea before I put it into practice.
My order time was 3:22 p.m. with a 4:16 p.m. estimated arrival time. In reality, it was almost 5 p.m. before my food arrived (with a snarky comment from my delivery guy after I texted requesting an ETA..), which I guess would've been fine if I had eaten breakfast or lunch. I don't know if that was a problem with Belmont or the DoorDash network, but either way, it was a long wait for fairly mediocre food.
I feel like I would've enjoyed their pizzas more after several beers, but sober, they weren't thrilling in the slightest. I purchased two 10" pies because they were around $7.50 and I figured I could save the extras for lunches during the week as well. Also ordered their mozzarella sticks and a chicken salad sandwich.
The mozzarella sticks were run of the mill. Basic, fried, filling, fine. Exactly what you'd expect. The chicken salad sandwich needed...something. It was the chunkier chicken and it came with lettuce, but I feel like an inventive mayo spread and some bacon would've helped it significantly. It also could've benefited from better bread. Theirs was fairly bland and limp. Some nice crusty fresh bread would've taken it to the next level.
For pizza, I chose the four cheese and a regular cheese with steak. Usually, I love four cheese pizzas, but their combo of cheese (parmesan, mozzarella, cheddar, romano) didn't mesh well. I'd say the steak pizza was much better...but both were greasy with too-thick dough. Slightly thinner dough would've helped so much.
I love supporting local pizzerias, and I wish I liked this one more than I did. I'm not opposed to trying them again in the future, but they wouldn't be high on my list for a second chance.
