WOW, I’m at a loss of words. I first saw this steakhouse more than a year ago and tried it out today with my family. Came right after the lunch rush so there was perfect service, they were quick to serve drinks and take our order. The steak was the best steak I ever had in my whole life. I can’t explain its rich flavor, you just have to try yourself. The dessert was also amazing, with chocolate moose, cheese cake, and carrot cake with whipped cream and toppings. This was my favorite experience ever with a restaurant. I highly recommend this place!

I took my husband and her Father's Day. The food was really really good. I love a great steakhouse. The drinks were awesome. The service was awesome. We would go back definitely

Lunch prix fixe $45/pp is great!! The onion soup and sirloin steak were excellent👍 The portion is also quite big so try not to eat too much bread😁

Google
This place is one of the top places for a steak. I had the bacon for starter. It was crispy on the outside and so succulent on the inside. They make it extra thick. And it is fabulous. For mains I had the ribeye on the bone. A 20oz steak. Both oh boy was that amazing or what?! All I cab say, get there as your first priority steakhouse and you wouldn't regret it. One more thing, it is a very short walk to Grand Central Station.

Very nice steak and big portion. Service is excellent. I will definitely come back.

We visited during restaurant week for dinner. I started with the grilled clams, which tasted good, but unfortunately, many of them had sand inside and were not well cleaned. The dry-aged steak was delicious—crispy on the outside and juicy inside. The cheesecake was also good, perfectly balanced and not too sweet. However, the service was slow; I had to ask twice for Dijon mustard and horseradish, and it took a while before they brought it to our table, even though the restaurant wasn't busy at 6 PM. Additionally, the wine deal was disappointing at $50 a bottle. We had the Cabernet Sauvignon, which was average and lacked complexity. It didn't seem worth the price, especially since many other restaurants offer $30 bottle deals during restaurant week.

*word to the wise - don’t go to a steak house that automatically places steak sauce on the table!!!! Good steak shouldn’t need sauce! Items ordered: 1. Oysters = 9/10 - fresh, but cocktail sauce tasted like their steak sauce 2. Calamari = 7/10 - texture was good but marinara sauce was subpar, lacked flavor 3. Bacon steak = 1/10 - so tough and difficult to cut - hard to eat 4. Ceasar salad = 5/10 - standard, nothing special - no anchovies or offered cracked pepper.. that was on the table for us to serve ourselves 5. Mac N Cheese = 2/10 - kinda chalky, same noodles as Kraft Mac n cheese without the delicious taste of Kraft Mac n cheese 6. Brussels sprouts = 0/10 - over cooked mushy with tough bacon chucks unable to bit through - flavorless - lacking in everything 7. Tomahawk ribeye steak $225 = tasted frozen, came on burnt black plate, ordered MR but the outside was well done and inside was barely rare.. they seared the steak on the burnt plate that overcooked it - flavorless and not how we ordered it - definitely not an AGED STEAK! 8. 2x glasses Sauv Blac - OK 9. 2x glasses Pinot Nior - OK Service: never cleared breadcrumbs from table and tried to take plates before we were done. Final bill: $450 + tip - was wishing we went to Morton’s instead - we tried to not go to a chain restaurant but was disappointed ** all in all, we expected a lot more from a $500 dinner - especially from a place that was recommended -

We went on a Friday evening and we loved it. The place is very clean. Quiet atmosphere. Everyone was very nice and helpful. Besim was our server. Very nice, knowledgeable and funny. He helped us choose our dinner and drinks, and he has great taste. We will definitely go back.

Yelp
My girlfriend & I come here every single week for drinks, appetizers, sometimes a meal, and always dessert. The last couple weeks were busy so we haven't been in, but I can't begin to explain how deep our love runs for Ben & Jack's and the love we have for the staff, especially Dino and Julio. The space is always so peaceful, no matter how many people are in there, and I find myself expressing my gratitude for every aspect of our experience there in most of my conversations that involve going out to eat or hospitality in general. You can't leave without trying the chocolate mousse, but if that's not your style everything else is PERFECT down to the complimentary bread and butter. I will never stop raving about this place. I'm writing this review as I'm thinking about it on a Monday morning lol. What a gem of a place in the heart of the city.

Yelp
We couldn't resist making a reservation and Ben & Jack's for dinner on account of their restaurant week deal. It's one of the best ones going. The staff were warm and attentive. I started off with an excellent steakhouse sized martini and my daughter had a nice glass of Cabernet Sauvignon. There was a solid bread basket. We split a Cesar salad and baked clams to start, which were really good. My daughter had lamb chops, which she loved. I had a very good sirloin steak, cooked to order with crispy French fries. Desserts were OK. We had a really nice dinner here. If you are in the mood for some red meat, the restaurant week deal is excellent.

Yelp
Stopped here for lunch , it's your typical business oriented steakhouse . High prices and not impressed with the quality of the food . Prob not returning , there's way to many options to go back there . The ambiance is mostly men in suits expensing their lunches / meals nothing to rave about . Stay away from the Ben & Jack salad it's a joke . Service was good though just as you'd expect of a high price steakhouse

Yelp
B&J is a classic midtown NYC steakhouse. Service is good, and the space is a nice balance between classic and relaxed. I know that steak is what they are known for but I was not feeling in the mood for beef, so I opted for the Ben & Jack's Salad. I was sadly, disappointed: it was OK but the chicken was chewy and it was underdressed. Also the rolls were not terribly fresh. I am giving 3 stars as the service was very solid and I recognize that I probably ordered the wrong thing.

Yelp
Another great evening at Ben and Jacks ! Top notch service from great people. Zimi & Jeton& Alghert provided impeccable attentive service . Dino the manager is doing a great job always checking in . We ordered the usual Oysters and Porterhouse steak . The steak was cooked to perfection and melted in your mouth steak goodness . You can't go wrong treating yourself at Ben and Jacks !!

Yelp
There are NY steakhouses that slap, and those that are overrated. This one slaps. Classy, well appointed setting with the feel of a classic steakhouse, great menu, and good sides. It's all you need! We started off with the bacon and clams, both of which were very tasty. Then we split a steak for two which was cooked perfectly medium rare. Our sides were sauteed spinach and mushrooms. Both were very good. We indulged on a carrot cake for dessert, which we would normally skip, but this was worth the calories. Will be back to try other apps and some potatoes. See ya there.

Mary Jean K.

Yelp
Convenient location to the hotel we were staying at. Food was delicious and at steakhouse level. Staff was professional. Nicely decorated steakhouse with warm and friendly vibe.

Yelp
We split bacon, calamari and burrata. The bacon was so good. I don't know how to buy such thick pieces of bacon and cook them in a way that they don't shrivel. The calamari needed to be crispier. My filet mignon was deliciously cooked. I could actually taste the butter. The sides of broccoli and spinach were conventional. What I loved was the post dinner coffee. It was medium roasted without any bitterness and went down sooo smoothly. This is a good option for a classic steakhouse without frills.

Yelp
Everyone in our group felt the place deserved its good reputation. These workers bring food quickly and remember everything. Their food presentation impresses and their service attitude pleases. The environment, waitstaff and food quality here stand out. This location offers a great atmosphere.

Yelp
We went here for a Valentine's Day special with prix fixe menu with some options from the main menu as well. For decor and ambiance it definitely felt like a standard steakhouse you would find in NYC; greeted by a bar and hostess when you walk in with high ceilings and white cloth and place settings throughout the dining room covered with dark wood accents. Nice and classy overall but nothing that really stood out. We had early reservations to make a Broadway show so we were seated right away. Of note this restaurant is about 14 minutes driving distance from Broadway without heavy traffic. Our waiter was phenomenal and so friendly and accommodating throughout our meal. We both opted for the filet (which was huge!) for our entree. Appetizers included calamari and shrimp cocktail. Glasses of champagne as well as some cocktails for drinks and crème brûlée for dessert. Cocktails included the ben and jacks Martini and an old fashioned, both were good. The martini included Absolut vodka, malibu rum, pineapple juice and a splash of cranberry juice ( the vodka definitely came through). The calamari was excellent to me , almost had like a fried chicken batter taste to it that I thought was delicious. The rings were very tender and perfect with the marinara sauce. The shrimp cocktail was exactly what it was supposed to be , chilled large shrimp with cocktail sauce. On to the steak. Again the cut was a huge portion and even with its size was cooked perfectly. The only thing that put me off a bit about this steak house is that they set all the tables with steak sauce , albeit it was their own brand but still not what I expected from a somewhat pricey steakhouse in NYC. The steak flavor was a bit lacking so maybe that explains the steak sauce but it was very juicy and tender so overall I enjoyed it. The frites were also quite yummy. The crème brûlée needed a bit of work. Very eggy, unfortunately did not have to texture of standard crème brûlée. I'd say if you were looking for a standard steak house with great service this would be a good place to visit. Definitely had a comfortable feel overall which I appreciated because I know for me sometimes I get intimated by steakhouses but this one was very inviting.

Yelp
My first time at Ben and Jacks. It's a great space with dark wood and tasteful table settings. The service is impeccable. Friendly and competent without hovering. The steak was amazing. Done and seasoned perfectly. A point off for a rather bland Caesar Salad. Overall I left satisfied and looking forward to returning.

Yelp
Not as great as the last time I came here also during restaurant week. They got one of our orders incorrectly. Service was okay this time around. Shrink-flation really hit their desserts.

Yelp
Came for restaurant week, the dinner selection. Really great options, service, venue, and drinks. I had a great time with my friends and definitely will be back. It's one of the best steaks I've had in NYC

Yelp
I went here with my 3 friends for restaurant week. I got the baked clams which was very good I wanted more. Everyone said their appetizers were good Caesar salad and calamari. We all got the sirloin steak medium comes with mash and broccoli. Steak was delicious and the broccoli was crunchy just how I love it. Restaurant week portion was a good size for $60. Service was good our waiter was a very good help made sure we had everything. Told us about the wine specials they had going on for the day. Ambiance was beautiful the decor was very inviting the cool fire place on the tv playing from YouTube lol. Very spacious restaurant and wasn't packed at 6pm. I would recommend this steak to try

Yelp
09/20/23: Took my sister for her birthday. Decor has an upscale intimate feel. Staff very welcoming. Our server very attentive and gave good recommendations. Food was pretty good. My sister loved her Malbec. Appetizer: we shared the avocado crab salad, very fresh and yummy. Mains: I had the B&J seafood pasta. Needed a bit more flavor but the portion was large. My sister had the Cajun rib eye steak which she thoroughly enjoyed. We also shared the lobster mac n cheese, tasty she likes it baked I prefer creamy so it more of a hit to her. Dessert: I notified staff it was her birthday so they sang to her when they brought out the apple strudel. Not big fan but I must say it was amazing. The texture, the crust the apples all aligned perfectly. The only thing to make it perfect it was served with ice cream instead of whipped cream. All in all very nice dining experience. Bonus: made reservations via seated so you know it.. received seated dollars on the pretax amount. Ching Ching..

Yelp
I had dinner here with friends and family. The place was nice. The staff was very friendly. The food, however, was just ok for the price. The appetizers were delicious. They had a great wine list. The porterhouse steaks, which were supposed to be the stars of the evening, were mediocre. The cook on the steaks was inconsistent. On our side of the table, the steak was cooked alright. On the other side of the table, they were a bit overcooked or not as tender. Flavor-wise, it was the same. Our steaks were good enough not to require sauce. The other side was the opposite. All-in-all, the place was alright. It is a good spot, if you have the wallet for it.

Yelp
The epitome of NYC Steakhouse! We came here for restaurant week. The calamari was crispy, flavorful and tender. The Dry Aged Sirloin steak was cooked to a perfect medium rare. Tender, tasty and juicy. It's a large piece of steak so I wasn't able to finish it and it made for great leftovers on a salad bed! The staff were professional and friendly. The facilities are clean. I'd definitely come here again. It's great for a date night, to impress your family, or to catch up with friends.

Yelp
I slipped into Ben & Jacks to try the restaurant week lunch special. I grabbed a bar stool, and I ordered a glass of Malbec to unwind. I started with Baked Clams. They were delicious. I ordered a Filet Mignon as my entre. It wasn't spectacular. I finished with a slice of Cheesecake. It was good, not great. For $45 I'd consider this a great deal.

Yelp
So if you are in New York and want an absolutely fabulous steak dinner you really need to do what I did. Go to Ben and Jacks steakhouse. The sirloin steak at $67 is enough to feed 2 people. Add fries and creamed spinach at about $25 total and you have e the best steak you can buy in NY for about $47 per Person! Epic!! The bar staff are really friendly and very helpful And the whole vibe of the place is brilliant. I have been to so many other top branded steak houses and paid 2-3 times as much for the same quality! Ask yourself why would you do that? Btw it is not a chain and is family run and it shows in the care and quality of service. I hope you enjoy!

Jasmin J.

Yelp
Made reservations online just in case. Once we walked in we were seated right away. Within a couple of seconds the server brought us water. They had a special going on for a $60 per person and you can choose and appetizer, main meal and dessert. Each only had a 3-4 choice to choose from. We were going to get the steak for 3 but since we all like our steak cooked differently I would say it worked out good. Service was great and food was amazing. Everything was 10/10 and would definitely come back again.

Yelp
When you walk into a dead restaurant in nyc - just walk out. Service was ok- food was horrible. The bread was at least a day old and if they even attempted to warm it up it may have helped- but they didn't Calamari was just ok - Chicken Parmesan was horrible. It must have been breaded long ago because it was basically cured- hard and rubbery. Sauce looked and tasted like ketchup Pasta up top was ok Bottom was watery. To top it off as I walked out the maitre d' didn't even acknowledge me I just don't understand how as a restaurant if a guest orders chicken Parmesan you just got a pass- how hard is it to pound out and bread some chicken to order Taste the chicken Ben and jacks - it sucks !!!

Yelp
I went to Ben & Jacks for my cousins bday dinner. I loved the calm ambiance and dim lighting. The music was also soft and relaxing. We shared the calamari, baked clams and Cesar salad for the appetizers. The calamari were seasoned perfectly and the clams were sooo good I could have eaten them by myself. I ordered the rib-eye medium rare and it melted in my mouth so worth it. I tried my husbands chicken Parm and it was also very good! The mashed potatoes and creamed spinach were chefs kiss. The macaroni and cheese was also good. I also had the asparagus but wasn't a huge fan because it was just steamed. We also got a dessert sample platter and the carrot cake was so soft it melted in my mouth. The tiramisu was also delicious. The staff was friendly and the service was great. They didn't hover and no one was rude.

Yelp
What a ridiculously great dinner, the first with both my parents since July 2017. This steakhouse is basically one of the few that gave from Peter Luger. We began with the baked clams oreganato, we hadn't had these kind of clams in years. They were so good we ordered an extra half dozen. And of course, the sizzling thick cut bacon, nearly a full inch thick, 8 bucks a slice. Take some of that bacon, their tomato and onion salad, and add a little of the house sauce, which was kind of like a cocktail sauce with slightly sweet tanginess, and every taste sense gets engaged.  And then of course, the porterhouse steak. Sliced into large pieces, served on a ripping hot plate, which was slightly tilted on the table so the steak juices and butter could accumulate at the bottom of the dish. Pure heaven, the most tender, perfectly aged Porterhouse.  And the sides. The hand cut steak fries didn't even need a dipping sauce. Crispy on the outside, tender inside, nicely seasoned. And the creamless creamed spinach, wow. This tasted like sauteed olive oil and garlic spinach but and the smooth silky taste of creamed spinach. I'm not sure how they did it, but I may have to work on figuring that one out. Bottle of Napa Pinot Noir for 65 bucks was wonderful.  Staff was wonderfully accommodating between making recommendations, taking our picture, and offering us complimentary glasses of port wine.

Yelp
We are annual visitors to NYC, and always have a couple of trips to this fantastic steakhouse. We cannot fault it..., the food, the lovely waiters , the ambience, quality and cleanliness ... We last visited in April this year, and we were not disappointed. It is by far the best place to eat in NYC, ..also would have a hard job to find better on the East coast , and we have travelled to Chicago, D.C , Philly, Boston and nothing tops Manhattan hospitality and beautiful food at Ben and Jacks .. ...See you guys next year, and Hi and best regards to Dino from George and Sally in London

Yelp
If I could give zero stars I would! Please don't waste your money. I ordered the 12oz sirloin and Ben & Jack salad and both were absolutely disgusting. The steak was chewy and tasted like it had been defrosted for $43 mind you. The salad was a mangled mess of raw onions, fatty bacon, shrimp cut up in little pieces and tomato's with no dressing. The bread served with the meal was stale and hard. Never ever again!
google avatar

Lisa Z.

Yelp
Had a great time here with my family. We ordered the steak for 2 and the ribeye along with the onion rings, asparagus, sautéed mushrooms, tomato mozzarella, and chocolate mousse dessert. We also got a bottle of moscato for the table. The servers were super friendly and patient as we ordered a bunch of stuff. It is kinda dark in here so it gives a more calming formal vibe but it's family friendly and wasn't too crowded when we went. Came out to around $100/person. Definitely recommend if you're in the area!

Yelp
New York restaurant week 2023 is the reason why we were here. Many options on the menu. So we ordered Cesar salad, onion soup, steak, with sides creamy spinach and mushrooms. One thing I like the most is the service, the staff are overall very nice, observant and professional. One thing I don't like is it can be noisy as there was a group here for celebration. And it became so noisy which I think common here from the previous reviews. The onion soup was yummy when served but the soup itself is a bit thin. The creamy spinach is creamy and yummy but the onions in the mushroom is not soft enough and a bit flavorless. The steak smelled so nice crispy outside yet soft inside. I ordered the medium one but a bit overcooked. Overall quite pleasant dinning experience

Yelp
Had a great experience here tonight at restaurant week! A great selection was available on their menu and their service was fantastic. It took a little while to have our waiter (Dino) to come along but once we asked he immediately came to service us and apologized. We were offered wine (glasses or full bottles) on the house and we ended up having 2 total. Ordered both of our steaks medium Baked clams: good and flavorful, was a little burnt in some areas Fried calamari: nice and crisp. Squid was bouncy and tasted really fresh Petite filet mignon: very tender, taste was perfect Dry aged NY ribeye: also very flavorful and cooked perfectly The manager also added on a 25% discount for the inconvenience caused at the beginning which was completely unexpected and very nice of him to do. Dino provided great service for the rest of the night. We took our dessert to go ( NY cheesecake and chocolate mousse cake). Definitely looking forward to dining here again!

Yelp
I've been to most of the NY steakhouses and Ben and Jacks was certainly worth the visit . Classic steakhouse decor with a nice bar with TVs for sports. I came with 3 colleagues and we had a feast . Ribeye , strip , scallops and salmon: all were tasty and cooked to our liking . Sides included Mac n cheese , Caesar and some fires too - also very good . I would come here again and enjoyed the service and experience !

Yelp
I too was enticed by the $45 lunch special for Restaurant week. A Caesar salad, Dry aged sirloin, and chocolate mousse for $45?! Sounds too good to be true and unfortunately it was. 1st- the Caesar salad - arguably the best part. The Caesar had a fantastic dressing and was a decent portion for a lunch serving. Came out cold and delicious. 8/10 2nd- the dry aged sirloin - wow, what a disappointment. The whole platter felt like an attempt of being an NYC steakhouse in the same conversation at Keen's, Luger's, or Gallagher's. The steak was awfully bland and instead of the buttery flavor you'd expect from a dry aged steak it was more funky flavor than sweet. The steak also had an ungodly amount of fatty bits which were entirely not edible. THE ONLY STEAK IVE HAD IN NYC THAT I HAD TO USE STEAK SAUCE. The steak sauce was delicious even though it bordered on the cocktail sauce side of things. The potatoes looked like a steakhouse whipped potato but instead it was flavorless and chunky soo it missed the mark. 3rd - chocolate mousse - was delicious and light. Wish there was more texture besides the two whipped options of mousse or the whipped cream it's plated with. Service: was on point and attentive. It's the reason I don't give this review a 2 or a 1. If you're looking for an authentic NY Steakhouse I WOULD NOT GO TO BEN AND JACKS. Luger's, Keen's, Benjamin's, and even Royal 35 are better options than this steakhouse. I've been here twice now: my first and my last time.

Yelp
Visited here for my sons 18th birthday and we had a great experience. The staff was very attentive and they all moved with a sense of urgency. Besides the lamb chops the lobster mac & cheese and crab cakes were very tasty. You won't go wrong choosing either one. A little pricey but the food and service is worth it.

Yelp
Steaks were good, very friendly staff!! Calamari and shrimp scampi were tasty, would order sliders next time

Elissa D.

Yelp
I went here for dinner during restaurant week. Despite waiting 45+ minutes past my reservation time for a table, the staff was very friendly and apologetic. The restaurant week menu was pretty generous with a 3 course meal offering for $59. The entrees also even came with sides - mashed potatoes and broccoli for the steaks and for the chicken parm, pasta. Overall would definitely go back to take advantage of the restaurant week deals.

Yelp
Very good steak at this restaurant. Also, the calamari and oyster oreganata appetizers was very good. Very nice ambiance, lots of wood around the bar and a very nice dining area. The service was very helpful and amicable. The desert was very good and not too sweet.
google avatar

Yelp
Very good service. Waiters are very attentive. Food top notch. Had baked clams, calamari and jumbo shrimps which were delicious. Sides of creamed spinach and mushrooms are recommended. Rib eyes are a must. Chilean sea bass portion was on the meager side. But tasted very good. I guess that's so we ordered dessert. All the desserts were very appetizing ( creme brûlée, key lime pie, chocolate sundae, chocolate cake). Not very roomie by bar but back what enough seating for parties.
google avatar

Matt T.

Yelp
The steak was amazing, the service was great but when I'm paying top notch for food and a steakhouse I expect it to be more 'intimate and quiet.' There was a table near us that had a child on an iPad and was so loud and was disruptive towards dining experience. I loved the steak for x amount of ppl it was prepared perfectly. I will say the desserts come with whipped cream and chocolate sauce which was good but reminded me of cool whip meets hersheys sauce. All in all I would go back but more just for steak.

Yelp
We were here for restaurant week dinner menu, my husband and I both felt satisfied. Overall, amazing food and service. We ordered lobster bisque and wedge salad as appetizers. The beacon in wedge salad was great and matching with blue cheese but we are little disappointed with lobster bisque with light creamy and flavored taste. For entrees, we ordered dry-aged sirloin steak and filet mignon. We loved their steak so much and they were unbelievably tasty and even greater with creamed spinach (extra $7)! In the end, we had cheese cake and chocolate mousse for dessert and it was a good ending. We will definitely come back again for their steak!

Yelp
I ate here twice over the 5 days I was in NY. I also ate at another "iconic" steakhouse, and it wasn't nearly as good. This will be my "go to" for a good steak in Manhattan.
google avatar

Mike C.

Yelp
Best steak I've had in a while. I've been to fancier and more expensive establishments, just like I've been to less fancy establishments. I can say I don't remember having a steak this good in a while. My aged ribeye was cooked to perfection. My baked potato and Cesar salad were beyond reproach. Slightly charred flavor on the edges but soft and juicy on the inside. The portion size left me full. Almost regretting that I ate it all. The staff was friendly and paid attention to detail. Nice vibe. My only regret is that I didn't have more friends with me to experience this meal. Looking forward to my next time.

Yelp
I came with a few friends for restaurant week and the service and food was excellent. Our waiter was very friendly, he did forget our order of lobster Mac and cheese but apologized profusely for it. He also came to check on us several times throughout the course of the meal. The food was very decent portions. First up, the appetizers. The calamari was surprisingly moist. It's very easy to over fry calamari but that was not the case here. It had the right amount of tenderness and seasoning. My friends had the French onion soup and it was cheesy and a good rich broth. I would have a hard time deciding between both next time. For the entrees, we had the steak, salmon and rack of lamb. The salmon was good and came with broccoli and fingerling potatoes. The rack of lamb needed a bit of seasoning but was cooked perfectly medium rare as requested. The spinach and mashed potatoes it came with was nothing to write home about. I much preferred the sides that came with the salmon. The desserts were also very decadent but their whipped cream was quite thick. It seemed to have been over whipped? At least for my preference, I prefer a nice whipped cream that's easy to maneuver to complement the dessert I'm eating. You could pretty much cut theirs with a knife and it would hold its shape. All in all a good dinner experience. But take my suggestions with a grain of salt, I did order their ben and jacks martini and it was quite strong so my memory is quite possibly a little fuzzy.

Liz E.

Yelp
Service is great. Jeton took care of our table and made our night. Steaks were cooked to perfection and the mushrooms were incredible. Would absolutely recommend for a large table. Family owned too so the ambiance is what you want for a NY steakhouse.

Yelp
Great service, quality food, good drinks, and a comfortable setting. Can't go wrong. Our waiter Eko Eko was the absolute best!! A real treasure. We weren't feeling too hungry so we pretty much shared everything. The lobster bisque had tons of yummy lobster, the filet mignon was perfectly cooked, and the sautéed broccoli was delicious. Portions are HUGE!! We shared a plate and still brought food home. Can't wait to try other delights on the menu :)

Yelp
I had two things planned for a Boxing Day jaunt into the city: a walk around Bronx Zoo and a meal at a good steakhouse. Post-zoo, I had a 2:30 reservation booked at Ben & Jack's - a classy if not wholly original spot a few blocks east of Grand Central. While there are no shortages of steakhouses in Midtown, Ben & Jack's offers up a great deal for great steak: a three course prix-fixe lunch for $32.50. I went with french onion soup and a 12oz sirloin. The cup of soup came with a bubbling crust of cheese enveloping a rich, deep broth. Make use of the complimentary bread basket for this: it's too good to let a drop go to waste. The steak is as good as any I've had in New York: cooked a perfect medium rare, this dry aged prime beef was cut off the bone and managed to combine meltingly tender meat with a serious char. Even the simple sides of broccoli and mashed potatoes were delicious...and all the better when washed down with a fine Manhattan Dessert came as the final course: a slice of cheesecake with a mound of fresh whipped cream. The cheesecake was good (not great or particularly memorable), but the whipped cream made the dish.

Yelp
Great food, fantastic service, and cozy ambiance. My kids really enjoyed the experience and the staff was so accommodating to our time crunch. They made sure we got out in time to catch our show.

Yelp
Restaurant week goals! Steak house! After a long week nothing better to wind down than with a lovely steak dinner. We were drawn in immediately with the old school steakhouse vibe inside. Definitely very busy for restaurant week. Service was excellent. Apps- Calamari and French Onion soup. Both were solid. The calamari was fresh but just a hair in the tougher side. The accompanying marinara sauce was delicious. So fresh tasting. Mains- we got the filet mignon and the aged sirloin. Both accompanied by a get our portion of mashed potato and broccoli. Delicious. Cooked to perfect and pre sliced which was nice. Even more so, they was very little extra fat that often steakhouses will leave on. But not here. Both were tender and delicious. Side- fries! Steak fries cut. Wowza this was actually my favorite thing of the night. The best fries I've had come from Peter Lugers. So when I tried these I was immediately transported back to that Moment. These are thinner but lends itself to be more crispy. But the potato they use has to be similar because it was so incredibly delicious. Fries are a must. Dessert- the chocolate mousse cake and cheesecake were phenomenal. Side of whipped cream. Just perfection. I would certainly get both again Wine- we did the wine by the bottle. Delicious and priced especially for restaurant week. Would I come back? Yes. Was it an excellent value for restaurant week. Absolutely!

Yelp
History of Present Indulgence: Restaurant Week and Ben and Jack's had TWO steak options on their pre-fixe menu. Made the rezzy and went on a triple date with some steak-loving couples. Shared a good dinner, some good wine, and a whole lotta good vibes. Physical Exam: Taste - Woweeeee! Good crust on the steak with a nice, pinkish red center on my medium-rare. Had a perfect amount of salt, though I did add a little pepper on my own cuz I like that extra heat. Mashed potatoes were creamy and well-seasoned, more on the pomme puree side of the spectrum rather than rustic american mash. Even the Wedge Salad I kicked my meal off with was great. If you're a fan of blue cheese, they had the bluest of the cheeses. Excellent on the wedge salad with that thiiiicccc bacon sprinkled over the top. And while we're talking about the bacon, you have to get a few slabs of the thick-cut canadian bacon on their menu. Delightful morsels of meat with an exemplary fat:lean ratio. Service - We did wait a long time for someone to come by, which was odd. Servers kept looking at our table but not a single person actually offered anything. But once it came, they were really nice. Refilled our waters, brought us refills on table bread, answered questions about the cocktail menu. *insert hand ok sign emoji* Environment - A classic steakhouse. Lots of dark wood, warm lighting, white tablecloths, servers in white collared shirts and a black apron around the waist. Some guy who you knew was overseeing everything cuz they were in a suit. That guy made one of the cocktails for us though! Always love seeing people higher up in the rankings do some of the scut work. Assessment/Plan: Talk about people who successfully stole the Krabby Patty formula. Plankton be jealous AF. Ben & Jack, assuming those are the real names, took the Peter Luger formula of steakhouse curation and ran with it. And damn did they do a good job. They had the thiiiiccc bacon AND THEY HAD THE SCHLAG! Though they don't say it out loud, they definitely... didn't forget the vitamins #IYKYK In conclusion.... High key, no cap Ben & Jack's is bussin' bussin'.

Yelp
The service was very good and friendly. The food was good but for the price I wanted it to be great. We had lobster bisque, calamari, filet mignon, chicken Parmesan and Mac n cheese. The steak was well cooked. For dessert we had tiramisu and crème brûlée; Both were good.
