I had such a wonderful experience at this ice cream shop today, thanks to Dan! From the moment I walked in, Dan greeted me with a warm smile and genuine enthusiasm. He was incredibly friendly, patient, Dan even helped me pick the perfect combination!

Ben & Jerry's on Franklin Street has the best team. Ciara was so sweet and Manager Mel top notch! I tried the Berry Berry Extraordinary and Lemonade but blended! It was the most refreshing delicious summer drink I have ever had! Loved the vibes and the shop is so clean.

We walked in to Ben & Jerry’s UNC with 14 worn out volleyball players and 3 tired coaches. John and Haddie (I hope I got the names right!) showed no fear and gave us the much-needed scoops with smiles! Went in craving a root beer float and sadly they did not have it available. Mel, the store manger, got us right. He told us if we went and got root beer, he would make it for us. Went to raising canes, bought root beer, brought it back. Mel gladly took the root beer and made perfect float. Great experience, great float, friendly staff that went above and beyond to make my experience enjoyable. Would definetly recommend. Especially with canes root beer. 10/5 stars

Customer service great - Hattie, Daniel, and John were amazing. However, it was so hot because the air wasn’t working, ice cream was melting so quick, I was sweating buckets. Please fix this as I would love to come back.

Friendly staff! Cierra was so helpful as I asked several questions about flavors. Manager Mel stepped in to assist as our group made choices. The store was clean and the staff was welcoming.

Our experience at this Ben & Jerry's was OK. This location is in the heart of Chapel Hill, at the intersection of Franklin Street and Columbia Street -- the epicenter of big UNC basketball win celebrations. We stopped by late on a Saturday night, just before they closed at midnight. FYI, the hours shown on Yelp, Google, and even Ben & Jerry's official website incorrectly listed 1:00am as the store's closing time on Friday and Saturday nights. During our visit, the hours posted on the storefront had 12:00am as the closing time on Friday and Saturday. This Ben & Jerry's has about 12 seats inside. The eight of us ordered our ice cream, took it outside, and ate at one of the tables on the sidewalk patio. The menu had over 25 ice cream flavors. We had a small cup ($7.50) of the Churray for Churros! It had good texture and flavor, but my wife thought it was too sweet. Ben & Jerry's ice creams do tend to run a little bit sweeter. Coincidentally, around the time of our visit, we bought lots of pints of Ben & Jerry's to eat at home. They were on sale (e.g., BOGO, 3 for $10) at Harris Teeter in Meadowmont Village. We got the following flavors: Cherry Garcia, Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough, Chocolate Fudge Brownie, Dirt Cake, Marshmallow Sky, Milk & Cookies, and Strawberry Cheesecake. All of these flavors were also available at this Ben & Jerry's location on Franklin Street. Locally, we prefer Andia's Ice Cream and generally, we prefer Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams. Ben & Jerry's is still fine, though. Service was good. There was only one employee working and we could tell he was ready to go home for the day (I would too). The restroom was out of order and closed.

I love this location!! They're always so kind and friendly when I come in. I especially love coming in when Daniel & ayah are working!!

This place is unfortunately quite the rip off. Not to the fault of anyone, but price wise, what a racket. Can't justify spending more on a scoop than I would for a full pint.

I received friendly customer service from Dan at Ben & Jerry's on Franklin in Chapel Hill, NC. The ice cream was delicious, and the environment was fun.

Update: I returned to the store after having reached out to the owner to share some feedback and thoughts on my recent visit. My experience this time went very well. I was greeted upon entry and was served right away. The regional manager and the general manager were open to having a conversation which was all that I wanted from my review. In addition, they fixed a pint of Ben and Jerry's ice cream for me to take home. This experience enhanced my overall confidence in Ben and Jerry's and restored my trust in their ability to serve efficiently and to the needs of their customers. I feel more comfortable about retuning and have no doubt that my family and I will be back.

Dre is amazing! Helpful, funny, and greeted us as we walked in. Definitely be back. Ice cream is also delicious.

The server was very nice. The ice cream was ... well it was Ben & Jerry's which is what it is. So why 2 stars? Because 3 of the smallest cups on the menu (no toppings, no waffle cone) cost $28 with the smallest suggest tip of 15%. $28 for 3 small cups of the same stuff you could get in a grocery store? That's crazy, even by 2024 standards. For that kind of cash I'll gladly drive to Durham for Jenny's or Parlour. G 'bye B&J's ... never again!

Went there for free come day and the staff were so friendly and enthusiastic despite having to scoop free ice creams for hundreds of students and community members. Really loved my experience there and highly recommend the Cherry Garcia!

Got shouted at right when I was walking in about if I was gonna buy something before I used the restroom. If you feel that strongly about people using your restrooms pay the extra money to get a lock with code, or keep a key behind the counter rather than having a potty police up front. Maybe I was gonna buy something after but after that experience I'm definitely not.

Good but not great! A quick place to gab B&J ice cream if you're in the food for it. The customer service was good but other than that, the milkshake was average.

Dre White provided exceptional customer service! We're happy customers! He offered us to taste a few new flavors which helped us pick the right ones to treat ourselves on a hot day.

Tim was very kind and efficient serving a large group. The store was open late, a great snack after an evening conference session.

I'm happy to have come here when it wasn't crowded after a UNC game. Guys were very nice to our kids and did a great job providing smiles and samples. It was a good day.

Elite yelp event where we got to try the new dough flavors. Chip off the dough block was not too sweet but was somewhat bland to me. The PB doughble chocolate was very good not too sweet with just the right amount of peanut butter to chocolate. The cinndoughrella was refreshing flavored like a Cinnabon but not so sweet which I really liked. Every Friday from 6:30 to 9:30 you get free henna with purchase of small or large cup. They offer order ahead grub hub and have free WiFi too. Parking can be somewhat difficult but I would definitely come again!

Let me start by prefacing this review with the fact that we are fans of ice cream. We have visited so many ice cream places around the country. Locally this includes Fresh Local, Jenis, Broken Spoke, Eno River Farms, Maple View Farms, Howling Cow, etc and Ben & Jerry's in Chapel Hill. As others have noted the service was very good and the person serving up scoops was very nice/friendly. We were shocked at the prices where they are the highest we ever experienced for a single very small scoop in a small cup. For 2 smallest servings and a 20% tip (because the server was great), we paid $19.34 which was so much higher than others based on the quanitity of ice cream. We can no longer suggest or recommend this Ben & Jerry's due to the pricing. The value at other local ice cream places are so much higher. Lower price and larger quantity. Clearly we are not the only ones that are experiencing this pricing as noted in the other reviews. If the owner is going to respond to this review, please advise how you are going to address the pricing / cost for such small quantity of ice cream.

Not into the woke politics.. ice cream was so so service the same. Never tried Ben and Jerry's until now. Don't see what all the rave is about. Won't be back

Quality ice cream, as always from Ben & Jerry's. That being said, this place is extremely overpriced for ice cream. You're better off going to the grocery store and buying a pint which has the same flavor for a cheaper price and larger portion. I will not be returning.

It's hard to review a place you're only able to visit once while on vacay, but I thought I'd at least give it a shot. Bottom line is, it's Ben & Jerry's, so it's pretty much impossible to have a sour time. I, unsurprisingly, enjoyed my ice cream and had a good experience with the staff. Do yourself a favor and get a flavor that is limited to scoop shops only. I recommend the coconut seven layer bar and the salted caramel brownie. Totally baked is good too. My only complaint is that wish this location was cleaner. But all-in-all I had a great experience!

My children accidentally dropped a large sundae. Galen and Tammy were glad to help out and make another one at no charge. That's the kind of customer service that will having us coming back again. And the ice cream? Well, it's Ben and Jerry's. It needs no introduction.

I ordered a single waffle cone. First the employee with hair braids and no hat had to finish his text messages before he could get his scoop. The he plops one scoop in, hands it to me. Most ice cream shops put in one scoop and then the single scoop on top. A double would have two scoops on top. So, I said please make it a double. He did, handed me the cone and said nothing. He went right back to his phone. I cashed out with the young lady. Overall the store is absolutely filthy. The walls are dirty, the floor doesn't look clean either. There are flies buzzing around also. The door is coated in what looks like a weeks worth of finger prints. I will not be back. Poor service and presentation all around a bad experience.

I have been to multiple Ben and Jerry's in multiple states and I can say without doubt this was my worst experience I have ever had by a long shot. It wasn't even too busy of a night and the service was slow and impolite. The worst part about the trip was that the employee took our order, served our ice cream in a waffle cone (which we did not order) and then charged us a surcharge for the cone. When I saw that there was a price discrepancy I asked about the employee very loudly broke down the charges in a patronizing way and repeatedly calling me "boss-man". When I said I didn't request the waffle cone he told me that I actually did! So much for the customer being right. Will not be returning.

Previous reviewers seem to be way too snotty and stuck-up. It's a chain ice cream store that serves the same really delicious stuff you'd expect from any of their other locations. Yes, flavors change, but that's to be expected. Just enjoy your ice cream, for crying out loud.

I have this addiction to things with Oreos and milkshakes. I also have an undying love of Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream. Ben & Jerry's has combined these things. And for this, I am happy. This Ben & Jerry's is a convenient location on Franklin Street, and is locally owned, so that's also very cool (there's some great info on the walls about the owner, a relatively recent UNC alum). Despite the occasional crowds, the line moves quickly, and service is excellent. I may have a place in my heart for Yogurt Pump (there are bits of things in the MIDDLE of my cup of ice cream! :-D ), but this Ben & Jerry's is cool too.

This was the saddest Ben & Jerry's I have ever been to. If was filthy, floors littered with trash and food, counters and coolers dripping in milk product. Dirty bathrooms. We were a party of three and the only people in the store. The one employee served our ice cream and proceeded to scroll through her phone when she could have taken the opportunity to clean and wipe down. The ice cream was freezer burned. Skip this ice cream shop.

I just want to start off saying triple caramel chuck is the best flavor!! The Lady that took my order was great. My daughter had brightened her day up and also made my daughter smile leaving out! I wish I asked her name, sweet lady. Just good to be around good people!

The guy was super cool, he helped us a lot choosing from the wide variety of ice cream choices. We had this amazing cookie and ice cream thing , hmmm bro amazing! 100% recommended and it was kinda affordable.

I've had this Ben & Jerry's in store and more recently catered for an event. The service is great and the ice cream is always as good as you'd expect. I've never seen them run out of a flavor. This location also participates in free cone day every year!

First time at a Ben & Jerry's...it was a Saturday and the shake I had was ok. But I wasn't overwhelmed.

Way overpriced. They add charges without telling you, and offer you thing like "do you want a waffle cone?" without telling you it's extra. Worst part is customer service. I walked in as the only person there and walk up to the counter. The lady in there is on the phone and talks for about 5 more minutes before asking what I wanted. I was heated at this point so I tell ask for a minute and pretend to take a phone call outside to show her what it feels like. When I came back in, she's back on the phone and I have another 2 minute wait. ordered, overcharged, left. Ice-cream was good though. I wanted a day-enhancing ice cream and got pissed off instead. However, they do give away free cones on national cone day or something, and those are decent sized. Can't get over that interaction though.

First this is overpriced, their smalls were 5.25 and their larges were a little more than six dollars. Mind you I could get an entire pint for the same amount. Also the ice cream was melted while sitting in the freezer, some were essentially a milkshake when we tried them. I don't think I'm very picky, but I believe if you are an ice cream joint you should keep your coolers cold enough to keep your ice cream from melting. My suggestion would just be to go to the Walgreens up the street and buy a pint.
