Last minute decision that I'm ever so grateful for. Came here years ago when I worked over on Smith Street and it's as great as I remember it to be. Lovely cozy and upbeat atmosphere. We had a buratta and yellow beats salad that was a pleasure to look at with its beautiful colors, super fresh & balanced flavor. Scallops risotto, savory&creamy so good. Boneless ribeye, nicely charred without being overdone. I like mine a little under medium well. Wild Mushroom polenta dish w poached egg, very nicely done, something different. Spatzle carbonara without the pancetta(no pork for me) I enjoyed this dish but I think I was supposed to mix everything so the yolk mixes with the parm and makes a nice sauce. Oops. Goat cheese potato puree, super luscious. Brussel sprouts esquitos, charred, hit with citrus, dusted with cheese, danced on my tongue 😋 The star of our lovely dinner was Jason our waiter. He clearly enjoyed his work which made us feel good. So good it opens up your appetite and before you know it you're glad your pants aren't too tight.😂I truly appreciate how much he was looking out for us with ingredients we couldn't have and being super honest about what was delicious and what was mediocre on the menu. He also provided quality entertainment. Super generous and thoughtful. He's totally getting shutouts on all my social media.

Very friendly staff. The food is amazing. They are very accommodating. We got there early and the staff was able to make an early accommodating for us while we were waiting for the rest of the party to arrive. Definitely he order their pancakes. It's very decadent. There omelette was very good and came with wheat toast and you can add a side order of the marinated salmon. Overall, this is a very comfortable place for a family gathering

Google
This is nice cozy spot, that I booked at the very last minute without any prior knowledge. The experience wasn't disappointed me at all. Very quiet and nice place with very pleasant stuff. The food was interesting and tasty. I wasn't really hungry, so I wouldn't try too many things, so I will definitely come back for more.

Came for a friends 60th birthday overall the service was good and the food was good. Steak was nice and juicy and wasn't super expensive. The biggest disappointment was the cookie dough egg roll. The shell was def too hot for the cookie dough to be piped in and made it melt. The cookie dough wasn't very good either.

Started off with me going back to the kitchen to get help as there was no one to welcome us. We were alone inside the restaurant dining area. Once seated we ordered the Wild Mushroom Fricassee Crisp Polenta, Poached Egg, Cream, Thyme, Sherry. Awful. Just awful. Caesar salad was served on a warm plate with warm cornbread style croutons. Unique does not mean good. There was no cohesion of flavors here as the croutons were fried in a very intrusive form of fish oil. Steak was decent. Slightly over cooked but enjoyable. Overall I’ve had better meals for a lot less. This is just not what anyone would expect for a $200 meal. Look elsewhere.

Randomly picked this spot with my friend and had a fantastic time. Food was delicious, drinks were amazing. Our waiter, David, was so delightful. Super attentive to our needs. The whole staff was great. Can't wait to go back!

During Restaurant Week (7/22/2019) I came to enjoy a 3 course dinner at Benchmark and it was DEEELLLLIIICCCCIIIIOOOOUUUUSSSSS!!!! From my appetizer (steak and tomato salad), my entree (Mahi mahi), and cookie dough egg roll, I enjoyed every bite. An added bonus, I went on a Monday and it was half price on bottled wine! Enjoyed a bottle of Petite Sirah. Definitely recommend this restaurant to friends, family, or a solo outing like I had.

Google
Great restaurant! Brooklyn gem. The steaks were absolutely delicious, the beet salad, and oysters were great! Will definitely be back! Special mention to the maitre d' who got us a better situated table without us asking.

Yelp
For some reason I have never really wanted to eat here (I think I thought I had been here before and didn't care for it), but when my partner wanted to get a steak for brunch somewhere options were limited and we came. Right when I got there I realized I've actually been here before, so I was immediately curious to see how this was going to go down. First off, they have a nice covered patio with fans which made for a nice breeze. The service I thought was great. It seemed everyone was celebrating something which I thought was awfully coincidental, but none the less they all got a glass of something to cheers with. I didn't get anything since i literally gave nothing to celebrate other than making it out of the house. I had a chicken BLAT. it was delicious and the fries were really tasty. I ate every single bite and loved every second of it. My partner got steak and eggs. It came with toast and some weird potatoes. He said the steak was amazing and it looked pretty darn big for the price. Overall I think this is a great place for brunch, the prices are really reasonable and the food is outstanding. Will definitely be returning

Yelp
My boyfriend and I celebrated our anniversary at Benchmark and had a lovely time. He made the reservation and must have included that it was an anniversary as we were immediately greeted with delicious champagne. The indoor dining was very dim and intimate which was perfect for a date. For dinner we had the Orzo Mac'n'Cheese (Goat Cheese, Parmesan, Arugula, Sun-dried Tomatoes - $13), Roasted Fingerling Potatoes (Cheese, Bacon, Sour Cream, Chives - $13), Oysters DeJonghe (Garlic, Mustard, White Wine, Butter, Texas Toast - $21), 10 oz Filet Mignon ($46) and the Benchmark Burger ($23). Every single meal was INCREDIBLE! I couldn't stop eating. To top it all off, the cookie dough dessert was immaculate - the perfect combo of hot and cold. I couldn't have asked for a better celebratory dinner. The service was quick and the entire staff was friendly and attentive. I need to come back and try the Maine Lobster Ricotta Gnocchi!

Yelp
My partner and I went here for restaurant week after a 5k race and were pleasantly surprised on the quality of food. I had the shrimp with grits as an appetizer and it's probably the best shrimp and grits I've ever had. I've never really liked shrimp and grits but I always order it hoping the next will change my mind and this was it! The grits were perfectly cooked. The shrimp was also and the texture and flavor of everything was the perfect combination. The filet was beautifully and perfectly cooked. You can't go wrong with steak and potatoes and this was leveled up. Lastly, the cookie dough egg roll was fantastic. The only reason I gave it a 4 is because we got the crab hush puppies, which is what we were most excited to try, on the regular menu and it was just fried dough ball. We didn't taste crab at all. The service was great: attentive and friendly. The atmosphere was also great! I'd definitely recommend and revisit, just don't get the crab hush puppies! Haha

Yelp
Place is permanently closed. Tried to eat here in April with a group of people and found that the doors were locked and the business next door said that the restaurant was closed permanently.

Yelp
A tale of two meals - Restaurant Week edition. Stopped in with reservations on the way home from the gym on a Wednesday night. We've walked by this place so many times at the busy section of 5th Avenue in Park Slope. Menu looked delicious and seemed like a great deal. Would come back to take my (future?) in-laws to dinner next time they're in town. 1st course - Burrata with roasted beets and avocado. Really just so so. I think this is the end of the burrata fad for me. Shrimp and polenta with roasted tomato vinaigrette was great. I cleaned the plate completely. Wish this was a regular menu item. 2nd course - Gnocchi with gnocchi and roasted butternut squash in a creamy pesto. This was a lot of mushy consistency. Very rich and flavorful but plenty heavy to get through a full serving on your own. Would recommend sharing with at least 2 people. NY strip was exactly as you would expect. Great crust, textbook medium-rare preparation with a side of creamed spinach and "designer" goat cheese mashed potatoes. 3rd course - Couldn't really imagine what a cookie dough egg roll was so we both ordered the bread pudding, which was a great way to end the meal.

Yelp
I am shocked I have never wrote a review on this restaurant I've been coming here for many years. Durning Covid this establishment has been doing a great job and accommodating their customers with delicious food and following all protocols. I always enjoy my meals here real good Americana food pleasing for all to enjoy. Today my husband and I enjoy the following food *please we shared all dishes. We started off with a Cesar salad with fresh anchovies. The salad was fresh crispy with an excellent true Caesar dressing. We had potatoes stuffed with trout roe and creme fraiche omg it was so extremely yummy with distinctive tastes of pleasure for the pallet. Then for the entree we had cod fish with mussels yes yes yes it was made with perfection with amazing flavors so good which melted in my mouth. We had fresh brew ice tea as well very refreshing.

Yelp
Lovely ambiance and delicious brunch. Great for groups; nice big tables. Highly recommend!

Josh L.

Yelp
The service here was really bad. Like offensively bad. Been here 3 times and each subsequent time got worse and worse with the service. Last time they didn't even look at our party and barely grunted replies. Seemed very low energy and like they were doing us a favor when taking orders. Didn't ask us how it was once. Drinks came out 20 minutes after ordered. Everything very slow including the food; noticeably beyond normal steakhouse wait times. Apparently the poor service is a common complaint and "known" by people in the Slope. Blue Ribbon which unfortunately shut down was a class joint, this place is a lousy experience comparatively but is the only option for steak lovers in the area. The food was reasonably good, particularly my strip steak but nothing special by any means. About average for similar restaurants, maybe even a bit below average considering hefty prices. How the good tastes is the most critical part of a restaurant, but the good yet not great food isn't enough when you combine it with the consistently lousy service and weird attitude of the staff. Don't think I'll be back.

Yelp
With my friends we visited Benchmark Restaurant because now NYC restaurant week and we wanted see a new place. Also, We interested because 45₴ cost dinner for 1 person. But I give in this cafe "dislike", because: Firstly, alcoholic drinks themselves are cheap, but they were sold expensively, like expensive wine, so my boyfriend and I had a headache after a glass of wine and it was tasteless((( Pan seared salmon was good. We ordered medium roasts filet mignon in "Grassfed filet mignon" and it had different tasty in me and my friend's, the meat was not juicy, it was dry(((( and I recommend for this dishe serve more sauce. Of the desserts, I liked only the ice cream, the chocolate cake is very sweet, but our children liked all the desserts) I also recommend creating a play area for children or gifting colored pencils with an album so that children are also interested.

Yelp
Came here for dinner after finding out a restaurant nearby was closed to dine in service. They have some indoor seating with a large enclosed outdoor seating space. We shared the crab hush puppies and the wild mushroom fricassee. I paired those with a glass of rose. For the main course, I had the seared duck with a side of creamed spinach. I paired the main course with a glass of Tempranillo. They have one gender neutral restroom which is spacious and comfortable. Very solid beer list with a focus on local and craft beer. Fair variety of wines by the glass too.

Yelp
Benchmark is one of the area restaurants that figuratively (and literally, to the extent they did provide actual sustenance) got me through the early days of the pandemic. A fine restaurant/steakhouse that I had the pleasure of visiting 1-2 times over the years (enjoyed well, but wasn't a go-to for me), Benchmark adapted early to the shutdown, printing a weekly take out family meal/limited a la carte menu. I ordered from here a good 3-4 times during the early days of the pandemic, and was delighted each time. The daily special dinner--generally in the $22-$25 range--was excellent and, frankly, huge--generally an entrée served with 2-3 large sides and some kind of unadvertised dessert treat thrown in for addition. For sake of example, perhaps my favorite take away experience from here was a poached salmon entrée which came with an excellent lobster bisque as well as a German-style potato salad and some sautéed mushrooms. As with every to-go order I put in with Benchmark, I got a good 2+ delicious meals out this one order--ok, one of them turned out to be a single epic, pig out, should have stopped sooner meal, but I digress). This was also the first place where I enjoyed perhaps the sole benefit of this whole scenario... the to-go cocktail... and Benchmark's Big Kahuna Bourbon Punch was a wonderful, flavorful drink to sip on my way home with my takeout. And large enough to continue enjoying with such. Benchmark seemed to adapt and even thrive during the pandemic, and truly seemed to appreciate the support of their customers. I looked forward to grabbing their weekly menu to see what interesting concoctions were on the horizon, and which day of the week I'd identify to enjoy a takeout treat, and am glad to see that this great neighborhood spot hopefully seems well on the way to the other side of this.

Yelp
My absolute fav in park slope ! Every single occasion was celebrated with dinner at benchmark. Love the steak and have never been disappointed at benchmark. The ambiance is inviting and comfortable . Last few years I've enjoyed quite a few brunches at Benchmark! The full bar is great and if you still have room the desserts are fantastic too!

Yelp
Stopped into Benchmark Restaurant on Saturday evening. The upstairs bar space is very cool and with a full food menu, it is not a bad place to end up on a winter evening. Quality: After walking by Benchmark Restaurant and seeing a fireplace in the window, I wanted to check it out to understand the setup. What we found is a cozy little bar with a few televisions and a full food menu. It is still unclear to me if the upstairs area is still called Loki Bar, but it seemed like that bar space has been absorbed into the larger Benchmark Restaurant. The menus had Benchmark printed on them, but it is confusing. During our visit I had a few beers as well as a Fried Chicken Thigh Sandwich. The sandwich was solid, though I wasn't crazy about the fries, which were too soggy. Quantity: Good pours of beer and the Fried Chicken Thigh Sandwich was quite large. Value: $8-$10 for Draft Beers. $16 for the Fried Chicken Thigh Sandwich. Ambiance: Benchmark Restaurant is located right off 5th Avenue in Park Slope. The restaurant has a ton of different areas, and I believe is now two former places combined into one. They have some outdoor seating in the street, which was put up during COVID. They also have an outdoor alley, which was tented and quite warm on a cold evening. They then have a downstairs indoor dining room and an upstairs indoor bar space. We sat in the upstairs bar area, which was great. I loved the raised fireplace, which put it above the bar and allowed the whole crowd to enjoy it. Several televisions hung from the wall, while alternative rock played in the background. High ceilings and lots of brick made it feel like a classic space. Crowd: A few guests watching football at the bar and a few more sitting down for dinner. Service: The bartender was great, and very efficient, especially considering how much running around he was tasked with. Parking: Tough to find street parking in this residential area.

Yelp
This review only refers to the level of service. The several times that I ate here the food was delicious and I couldn't wait to come back. Because I enjoyed their food so much I decided to book my 50th birthday dinner with my closest family a party of 18. As the date approached, my husband needed to call the restaurant to ask them to add an additional person and ask them if he can bring a cake. After trying to reach someone for several days without any success and no voicemail and then noticing that the website was down. He proceeded to drive past the restaurant which said it was closed for renovations until January 8. My event was on Sunday, January 14. Thankfully we had the foresight to book somewhere else because the restaurant never opened. we did not get a single phone call so if we did not know or suspect that they were closed, we would've had 18 people standing in front with nowhere to go. And another deceiving factor the reservation service texted to confirm. I never got a phone call and here we are days later. I've never witnessed such disgraceful behavior and lack of care for your customers. No matter how good the food is here. I will never set foot here again, and will tell as many people as possible to never go to your establishment.

Yelp
Benchmark was most disappointing. The food was totally unacceptable. We ordered oysters that was to come with Texas toast. Their version of Texas toast was toast with two pieces of white bread covered with butter very lightly toasted. Taste was awful. Not even toasted enough. The wedge salad consisted of a sliver of lettuce. Not anything like one usually expects from a wedge salad. The appetizers were so bad and we decided not to stay for dinner. Stay away until they replace the head chef.

anne d.

Yelp
Delicious food. Friendly staff. A neighborhood special place to eat. You won't be disappointed.

Yelp
I came here with my family for Thanksgiving dinner. We ordered the 3-course prix fixe menu. The seared foie gras was my favorite -- the searing gave it good texture and the garnish was a great balance. For entree, the turkey was moist and delicious. I personally ordered the venison, which was tender cut. I will come again to try their steaks.

Taylor B.

Yelp
Went here for dinner with family. Food was good but they could definitely use more vegan & gluten free options to accommodate people with food sensitivities. Portions were pretty good size. Overall everyone enjoyed the dinner!

Laura A.

Yelp
The food was good. I'm giving it two stars because there were roaches crawling on the seat and then the table. I didn't like how the waiter responded to it and we had to request an accommodation to the bill. I don't plan on returning because now I'm overthinking it all.

Carol M.

Yelp
Excellent service! The quality and taste of the food and drinks was absolutely great. For apps we ordered the beet and goat cheese salad, lobster bisque, scallops. For mains we had the filet mignon, NY strip steak with the Brussel sprout esquites and potato purée as our sides. I would love to go back again for a special occasion.

Jeremy F.

Yelp
A delicious place to eat. The ribeye was cooked just the way we like it (med-rare), and had a nice char on the outside. Plenty of options for small or large groups. The Brussel sprouts and creamed spinach are amazing! If your in Brooklyn and looking for a great place to eat, you should try it out.

Demora F.

Yelp
It was a beautiful day and I was so happy I chose benchmark to dine.I had an amazing time. For starters, the crab hush puppies were ordered, main was the cod wth mussels and cookie dough egg roll for desert. The hush puppies were good. It was Served wth slaw and the sauce complimented it well The cod was so juicy, I really enjoyed it Desert was different bt interesting. Cookie dough egg rolls wth ice cream. Different ! It was ok for me. Service was great ! Overall i was content after the evening was over. I can see myself visiting again., had a great great time ! Great service , and food !

Yelp
I had a date. He had originally opt'd for another spot for dinner but it was reservations first then us stragglers. There was no way I was waiting. Sista was ready to eat. He shot from the hip on this one & you can read about my thoughts on this in my memoirs coming to a book store near you. This tucked jewel is off of 5th Ave so it does not get a lot of passes-bye'rs.traffic. Learned this later from the wonderful bartender, Brennan. It is for those who take the path less traveled. One can opt to dine in the bar room or outside seating & we chose the bar room. It is dimly lit with a modern western BrooklynWorld vibe. The bar is on your right & dine sitting to the left. Warm with wood & a perfect date spot. Groups would also benefit from this relaxing environment. I ordered a Malbec, Escorihuela 1884, not yet a vintage circa 2018 but it's yummy. I paired it with the Seared Duck breast & my date went with the Double Cut Porkchop & and a margarita. Later on, I had a espresso martini. It was sinful! The food is delicious! So much so, there are plans to try er'thing on the menu. If you're ever in the neighborhood, dip in & check it out. You won't be disappointed.

Yelp
A friend and I wanted to enjoy the warm fall weather, so we popped over to Benchmark for a late brunch. We were told the wait was about 20 minutes, and left our number with the hostess, and ambled around the neighborhood while we waited. The wait time provided was accurate, and when called we returned and were seated at a nice 4 top by their mini courtyard. Tables are separated appropriately, and servers wore masks at all times. My friend ordered the steak and eggs, and kindly shared a few bites of the steak. It was well seasoned, cooked to temperature, and I was able to cut through my slices with my butter knife. The steak was definitely decently proportioned considering the price, and came with toast, eggs, and cheddar cheese potatoes. I decided to go all out since I haven't done outdoor dining since the pandemic hit, and had the bacon cheeseburger hash - topped with poached eggs under a mustard hollandaise. This was decadent, heavy, and nearly put me into a food coma right at the table. Absolutely delicious, but not for a lightweight eater. The cheeseburger hash was rich and fatty, with crisp edges, and a copious amount of bacon generously sprinkled throughout the hash. The eggs were perfectly poached with gloriously viscous centers pouring onto the hash when cut into - I can't resist a runny egg. The tart tang of the mustard hollandaise helped cut into the rich flavors. We both enjoyed our bellinis and water with brunch, which our server was always quick to refill umprompted. The service was friendly, and unrushed, and were it not for the masks, we almost felt like the world had returned to normal for a few moments. Neither one of us could attempt dessert after that rich brunch, so we shall have to return to conquer that another day - and to enjoy the other delicious options tempting us from the menu.

Yelp
Came for restaurant week and had a great dinner. They were definitely swamped but the staff was doing their best to handle the crowd! We had the buratta and steak were great and the bread pudding was fantastic! We would definitely come back again.

Chris E.

Yelp
I've heard good things over the years about the steaks here. Had a rare hankering for red meat and thought I'd try it for a birthday dinner. A major disappointment..... beef just wasn't very good; not remotely worth the price. That three of our four steaks were overcooked didn't help, but even perfectly done these wouldn't have made the grade.

Andrea M.

Yelp
Benchmark is so underrated and under the radar. It's the best steak house in Park Slope, hands down. Tonight we ordered the porterhouse for two, with fries and creamed spinach. Super excellent. The fries are just divine, the best ever. Homemade, crispy yet tender and perfectly seasoned. Comes with their homemade ketchup and a garlicky mayonnaise/aioli. The best fries I've ever eaten. They've been making their own ketchup since they first opened and it just shows you the level of care they take, the passion. I could dive headfirst into that bowl of fries! The porterhouse steak was just the most flavorful, most tender, and seared with that yummy bit of smokey char.Literally the best steak I've had in ages. Creamed spinach is perfection as well. I hope you get a chance to visit Benchmark soon and support this local gem. Staff was on point, friendly and professional.

Frida C.

Yelp
Came to this restaurant because the nearby restaurants with outdoor dining were all packed, but I really enjoyed my food! They have a huge outdoor space to accommodate outdoor dining due to covid. Service is at a slower pace but also likely due to short on staff. Got a peach Bellini and fried shrimp po boy. It came with fries and salad. The bread was nicely toasted. Shrimp was well seasoned - not too much batter. The flavor was well balanced with the mayo and pickled onion!

Jessica M.

Yelp
Great place for lunch (if you're not in a rush). The restaurant was pretty quiet when we arrived around 1:30 PM on Wednesday. They have plenty of seating - outdoors and indoors. We opted to sit indoors since it was a bit too warm outside. I ordered the benchmark burger($13) which comes with a side of fries. My medium-rare burger was cooked perfectly, but would've been perfect with another pinch of salt. If you're a bit hungrier that day, they offer a pre-fixe lunch menu for $23. (It says $18 on their website but it's not updated). My friend ordered from the pre-fixe menu and choose the lobster bisque, benchmark burger, and the popular cookie dough egg roll. Shout out to previous yelp reviews for recommending the cookie dough egg roll desert! Overall a solid lunch spot, with fair prices for park slope and a great pre-fixe lunch menu. Would return again for lunch.

david l.

Yelp
Benchmark is a Park Slope stand by. I've never had a bad meal here amd they have good steaks. This time we had the restaurant week menu. It was worth the $42 price tag. It was a nice portion and delicious. I recommend the steaks. They're not bad at a fair price.

Paul Y.

Yelp
We had reservations on MOTHER'S DAY for 3:00pm, and we showed up a few minutes late. "Sorry, the kitchen is closed. We tried calling you." Okay, so they wanted their clients to (a) Show up ontime and (b) Know what they wanted to order when they sat down. Is that reaaonable? I don't think so. If you must close your kitchen, please don't take a reservation. OR make sure you mention that.

Miyuki Y.

Yelp
The best restaurant for us, definitely. We normally visit there during Restaurant Week & they never disappointed us. They always give us great steak with a rich sauce & creamy mashed potatoes or tender & flavorful scallops with nicely prepared veggies. Their appetizers & desserts are very delish too. Surprisingly, they provide a fabulous 3-course dinner for just $45 during Restaurant Week. The service is amazingly comfortable as well. Usually, only 2 guys are serving us, but they are extremely excellent so 2 are more than enough. Once we went to the busy weekend brunch time & a bit regretted it at first but they did everything perfectly though it was packed! And also they were kind enough to offer us a glass of champagne for our anniversary the last time we visited. The ambiance is cozy & relaxed so what else do we want from them? They are our favorite restaurant in NYC so cannot wait for the next visit to try something new soon again!

Yelp
My family and I have been going to Benchmark several times a year since it opened but lately things have been a little off. We celebrated a birthday this past week and we thought that Benchmark would be a good choice. We were given a comfortable table and were not rushed, which was nice. Again, we like Benchmark but some minor complaints as follows. In most steakhouse restaurants you receive a nice bread basket as you decide what to order but no bread or rolls were offered. We ordered an assortment of appetizers which were all fine but curiously there was not a shred of lobster in the lobster bisque. For the main entree, there were two orders of salmon that were ordered well done but both were undercooked and needed to go back to the grill. I ordered a strip steak medium and the outside was nicely charred and the inside pink as ordered but the steak was very dry and not juicy at all. I ordered a side of sauce which helped. Overall, it was a nice meal but it could have been better. I will try Benchmark again but I hope they bring it up a notch.

Yelp
A family member and I went to Benchmark in the hopes of having their Strawberry Stuffed French Toast.....It was like the pictures of the French toast that people posted on Yelp as well as the image that I saw on their menu that I accessed through Yelp danced in my head!-lol. We could hardly wait to get there! We approached this eatery and happened to arrive there when it was quiet. There were only a few customers dining in the outer tented area. Walking into the other area of the restaurant, we were greeted by one of the servers who seated us quickly. The decor (especially in the bathroom) was warm and inviting with a hint of flair. Everything came out without having to wait for a long period of time. The server brought out water, drinks, etc in a timely manner. The Strawberry Stuffed French Toast was bought to the table and it looked heavenly! From the first to the last bite...simply delicious!!!! The french toast was stuffed with creamy goodness and the side orders of bacon and sausage were flavorful. Benchmark exceeded my expectations and I had a nice experience.

Yelp
This place. Yes!!! My friend and I came here for a restaurant week special dinner. I got the grilled shrimp with polenta. I asked for it to come without polenta. After waiting more 45 minutes, the appetizer finally came out and with polenta. No big deal, I ate around the polenta. The shrimp was perfectly grilled and tasted great. I was offered a free glass of the best red wine of my life. For the entree, I got the filet migon which I asked to be medium rare. It was legit a full hour before our entrees came out. Another free glass of wine because they again, forgot our ticket to the kitchen. When it did come out, it was perfectly cooked as ordered. It came with garlic mashed potatoes and onion rings. I'm not a fan of onion rings normally and don't order them. These, however, are AMAZING ONION RINGS!!!! I asked about them and the chef apparently pre-soaks them to make them moist before frying. Whatever he is doing, it works because these are life changing onion rings. For dessert, which came out in a reasonable time, I had some sort of coffee flavored ice cream and a chocolate filled crispy egg roll. Wow. I don't like sweets. I don't care about dessert. Either I was trashed from my two free glasses of wine or this was amazing dessert. So, if you read this far, you may be wondering, why five stars for a drawn out seemingly miserable experience? Because the food is worth it!!! Some people wait in line to get a table for an hour, we waited an hour at the table. Same same. Seriously, though, I suspect that this was a one tome screw up with the delay in getting our food to us, they more than made up for it with the free wine and, at the end, they told us that the meal was on the house (we left a generous tip). So how can we be upset? They knew they screwed up and they more than made up for it and the food was outstanding. I would come back any time and I wouldn't even be upset if they have the same delays again if they treat me so well throughout. This place knows food. Get the onion rings (random, I know). Get the egg roll dessert. Get everything.

If you stop in, get the seared foie gras. Seriously. It's great. But honestly, don't expect the best steak of your life. Or even a very good one. But it's cheap, which is a hell of a selling point (most a la carte options in the $30 range). I got the 16oz ribeye (which was wet aged, which I'm not a big fan of). It was a bit overcooked (ordered medium rare, and it was pretty medium except for the exact middle). Other than that, it was spiced fine. My friend's filet mignon was similarly overcooked. Also split a few sides - the mushroom spaetzle (very good and mustardy), and the roasted Brussels sprouts with hazelnuts (also good, but could've used more char). Their beer selection is surprisingly top notch, but way overshadowed by their gigantic wine list (the numbering went into the 400s). All price points and styles. The Argentinian malbec we had was good for the price. One last thing to fault them on was our seating situation. Inside was full, so we had a table in the front courtyard area, which was heated (but barely). It was one of the coldest weekends of the year, so it wasn't exactly a pleasant experience (I was wearing heavy wool socks and boots, and my toes were still freezing and getting numb).

Yelp
My friend has mentioned before that dinner here is amazing. We decided to come for brunch. There was no wait and we were seated inside. While we were waiting for our dishes to come out, my other friend noticed that her arm was on something dirty. The table has a brown paper cover over a white table cloth. She looked under the brown paper.. she noticed there was a huge yellow stain (maybe egg?)... anyways... she mentioned it to the waiter and he apologized and changed it for us while we were sitting and mind you I already had an appetizer on the table... which I was annoyed that we had to move everything off the table to replace the table cloth. My salad, the organic seasonal lettuces, was great. My short rib eggs benedict though on the other hand was absolutely tasteless. The short-rib was good, but the whole dish overall was disappointing. I had to ask for salt and pepper to season it myself. Both my friends ordered steak and eggs, medium-rare. The steak portion is nice, but they were a little disappointed as well that the steak was no where near medium rare. The staff itself was nice but I felt as if they were a little negligent. The waiter didn't come by asking if we wanted another drink and when I was done with my appetizer, I was moving my plate to the end of the table and as a bus boy was passing by the table, he did not take the plate. The waiter also passed by and did not remove the plate from the table. The only thing I liked about our brunch was my plain seasonal lettuce.. oh, and on top of all that... while we were walking out, I noticed that several tables had dirty white table cloths under the brown paper covers!!!! My friend claims dinner is amazing and maybe the chef doesn't work brunch, but I don't think I will be coming back ever again..

Yelp
Went here for brunch- excellent Blood Orange Mimosa! The short rib eggs Benedict was pretty good as well. I feel like making this a weekly event for myself lol. The dinner menu is even better. I haven't been here in 5 years. The service was also great. Although they're very understaffed with only 2 people working- they did pretty good making sure they got to everyone.

Yelp
I thought the food was OK at best. The deconstructed lobster salad was overdressed. The burrata and peach salad had underripe peaches. They had a risotto with mushroom on the menu but was made with cream. I asked the server if it was possible to make it with chicken stock instead since I can't have cream the chef told him they don't have chicken stock in the restaurant. After 30 years in restaurants I found that hard to believe. We ordered the brussel sprouts but they didn't show. When I asked the server he said they went to another table. He never informed us and said he would be happy to bring them out even though we were 90% finished. They came, the sprouts were underdone and over dressed with cojita cheese. Over all it was meh. 120 for 3 adults and a kid not eating steaks.

Yelp
Realizing that I was near the end of restaurant week and had yet to eat for half the price I should I rushed to the nearest restaurant for lunch. There was one waiter, David, who was so pleasant I just didn't know what to do with myself. I ordered the crab and the salmon while my partner ordered the crab and the steak. The meal was absolutely delicious. Highly recommend and definitely will be back.

Yelp
Jason is the best! So are their fries. Yum. Wednesday night is trivia. So much fun.

Yelp
Great service, especially from David. He was courteous, funny, and nice. The food was delicious. We came for brunch, I ordered the braised short rib eggs benedict and my husband ordered the cobb omelete, but he switched the blue cheesse for cheddar. Both were absolutely delicious!! I also came for lunch. We ordered the lobster bisque, crab cakes, and jalapeno burgers. The crab cakes were large and delicious, and the burgers were flavorful and cooked just right. Oh and the bread pudding with the homemade gelato. Ughhhh to die for. I will be back again!!

Yelp
My wife and I do Restaurant Week every year. A lot of places, you can tell that their attitude is, "we'll give the cheapskates our minimum, they won't be coming back anyway". This is the opposite of that. I got the pork turnover, the New York Strip, and we shared one of each of the RW desserts. The pork in the turnover was perfectly tender. The steak was one of the best steaks I've had in a long time. And both of the desserts were terrific, although the bread pudding was a particular star. Will come back in non-Restaurant Week time.

Yelp
We recently moved to the Park Slope neighborhood and were trying out restaurants. Benchmark does not disappoint! They switch up the food & drink menu sometimes, so there are new things to try! I'm always a fan of their Benchmark burger (and they can throw in bacon too!) paired with a nice IPA. The outdoor seating is now covered too! Highly recommend this place.

Yelp
Service -- the staff were great, no complaints. Don't want to speak down on them at all. Food -- very poor for the money. No hot food arrived hot, the steak was very undercooked then very overcooked when sent back (which they were very kind about) but ultimately the steak was just not good. The sandwiches just lacked the punch of flavor we were hoping for based on the menu description. Fries, Brussel sprouts and carbonara were great. Wine -- got a red, and it was overly chilled by a substantial amount. It was as chilled as a white wine should be. Not ideal. Ambience -- cold but otherwise nice.... but noticeably cold. Also, do not eat outside, there are no heaters, it's just a tent. Value -- we wanted it to be better, but it wasn't. Might come back for drinks and trivia, but that's it.

Yelp
Went for lunch for my Sons Birthday this past Friday. Couldn't believe the quality of the food and especially of the waiter that was there Dave the service was awesome he made the Birthday lunch more special. I highly recommend this restaurant Benchmark And you should try those oyster's and especially the Avocado Toast. Thank you BenchMark for a great experience.

Yelp
I was here for Restaurant Week for both lunch and dinner. I was also here for brunch. I liked the vibe of the restaurant. Both elegant and cozy with outdoor seating available. Brunch was disappointing. Goat milk yogurt was a bit strong. The crab cake had too much random filler and barely any crab. Lunch was decent. The salmon dish was slightly too fishy for me. The desserts were the best part of lunch. The steak dinner was very good. The chocolate egg roll dessert was too heavy and rich.

Yelp
We have always loved this restaurant. We went tonight as a special night out--babysitter hired. Major wedding anniversary happening. We were greeted with champagne and a friendly server. Time passed and no one checked in with our dinner order. No one bussed the table. We questioned the lack of service and were told things were too busy (only 25% of tables were filled). I'm so sad to write this review. We haven't been out to dinner in over a year and money is limited. If you're paying $200 for a 2-person dinner you should get attentive service, as well.
