"Bend Brewing Company was established in 1995, making it the second-oldest brewery in Bend. BBC (as locals call it) finished an indoor upgrade and patio seating with heated benches in the winter. Summer brings families and dogs to the sizeable lawn and outdoor pub overlooking Mirror Pond, a bustling community space. Popping by BBC is a lovely way to spend the day and enjoy Bend’s best crunchy and fresh fish and chips and dripping burgers which pair with BBC’s brews like the Tropic Pine juicy IPA, an award-winning porter, German sour ale, and others." - Barb Gonzalez, Jeffrey Stull

"While Deschutes Brewery is the biggest operation in town and, indeed, the whole state, I decided instead to start my beer tasting quest at local institution Bend Brewing Company, where I enjoyed a Black Diamond dark lager while sitting bundled up at a picnic table beside the Deschutes River." - Travel + Leisure Editors

It's no surprise that Bend has plenty of brewery options! Bend Brewery should be on your list of places to visit! They are celebrating 30 years of Best Brews and Views - hard to argue with that! They've got an incredible outdoor seating area right along the river, which is hard to beat. There was a bit of a wait, but we were able to grab a drink from their patio bar and hang outside while we waited. I do feel their menu has gotten smaller, more limited, and more expensive over the years. I had the smash burger. It was tasty but hardly had any meat... more bun than anything. For the price, I was expecting a bit more. The fries were good, though! The cauliflower hummus and the drinks were great! It's definitely a good spot to check out while in Bend.

Google
Usually a solid place for food, but on a recent trip it was flat out bad. Fish and Chips overcooked, probably needed to change the oil as well. I wasn't expecting the best wings in town, but they were... something. My wife had the Oregon Salad and she was fairly happy with it. Beer was great, as usual, and they have a nice spot with a nice outdoor space. Service was fantastic. Food was disappointing.

Google
Bend brewing is a staple in the community. While having a good list of beers on tap they also have cocktails and a few wine options. The food options are good! The wings are top quality and they have great flavor. They rotate options and keep it fresh. The out door patio and seating is amazing. The parking lot could be better, but there is a parking lot that you pay for just a one minute walk away.

I wish I could’ve enjoyed the outdoor space because it is beautiful and I went when it was too cold. The bartender was super nice despite me showing up close to closing. I think this is absolutely a stop you need to make if passing through Bend.

Today was the first time visiting Bend Brewing- so first impression: confusing and poor service, good food and drinks though. At first, confusing where to go. There’s a stand with hosts and merch.. so assuming I would be seated inside, I was seated outside next to tables that was apparently “open seating”, that’s cool but I thought I was getting a table inside since there was a wait. There were food trucks outside the main building.. the one with the drinks doesn’t serve cocktails or soda (just beer), not very helpful at least with our family. The food trucks outside had a small menu, so I guess a question I have is if you do “open seating”, is that your only menu? Confusing. Anyways, we get seated. The drinks were great. The waiter, besides bringing the food and drinks, never checked in on our table. We literally waved 5x at him and we just got ignored. We were there for drinks and appetizers (for the kids), but just left with the one drink.. because waiter never checked in. You lose tips that way. Wish we had a better waiter, experience would had been much better. The place has potential.

The moment I stepped into Bend Brewing Company, I knew I was in the right place. The cozy atmosphere and the attention to detail evident in the decor immediately drew me in. One of the first things I noticed was the absence of salt and pepper on the table. It was a clear indication that the kitchen took pride in their seasoning. I started my meal with a refreshing huckleberry ginger cider from the Bend Cider Company. It was a delightful combination of sweet and tart, with a hint of spice. For my main course, I opted for a half portion of fish and chips. The batter was light and crispy, with a subtle beer flavor that complemented the flaky fish perfectly. I was particularly impressed by the homemade tartar sauce, which featured a delightful tang of tarragon. As I watched other dishes being served, I couldn't help but feel a pang of envy. Everything looked incredibly appetizing. While the coleslaw was simple, it was still enjoyable. I could taste the subtle flavors of milk, sugar, apple cider vinegar, and a touch of salt in the creamy dressing. It was a refreshing accompaniment to the hearty fish and chips. Overall, my experience at Bend Brewing Company was fantastic. The food was delicious, the atmosphere was inviting, and the service was friendly. It's a place I would definitely recommend to anyone visiting the area.

Awesome beer and atmosphere. Right on the Deschutes River. Did I mention the great beer?

Google
Bend Brewing Company is a wonderful place to eat in the summer. Right next to the river, it has a large patio/grass area with tables to eat on. There is also a wrap around porch if you want to eat outside. The menu is not extensive but the food is excellent! The ambiance cannot be beat!

Teddy A.

Yelp
The food and service was great. It was a great restaurant recommend going here in bend. They brew there own beer

Christie B.

Yelp
My sandwich was delicious!! The wings were great! The service was good! The atmosphere is a sports bar with good big TV's. The kids burgers are delicious!!

Drew H.

Yelp
Came for lunch. Had a lot of space for seating. Service was good. Was able to try a few taster beers before making a selection. Beer was good. Husband got the fried chicken sandwich, which had a Thai inspired sauce and came with a ton of sweet potato fries. I got the brussels sprouts cesar with chicken, which is a new item in the menu. It was really tasty. Food portions were HUGE. However, whatever you do, do not take this item for leftovers. We put it in the car in a cooler for 10 minutes and came back and the whole car was uninhabitable. It smelled like atomic farts. We had to air the car out for over an hour, even after we threw out the food. Still delicious though!

Yelp
The location is pretty sweet. On a nice day, you can sit on their welcoming patio area, sip your beer, and watch the river flowing by. The beer, itself, is decent. It's definitely a more locals (more like CA transplant) hangout, people meet up in the late afternoons with their kids and dogs in somewhat larger groups. Their food menu looked decent, but i was unable to try anything due to time. I'd comeback for another spin!

Jonathan S.

Yelp
BBC (the beer version) feels right in every way. The location is central, and is very walkable or cyclable, which is ideal for anyone staying in town, considering how challenging driving and parking can be on weekends. There are a variety of seating areas, including outdoor tents, patios, and indoor sections, making it an ideal brewery for any type of person. If you're near the bar, be prepared to socialize while outside on the heated patio; you can find more privacy. Most guests should order from the bar servers, with limited staff perusing specific tables. When we dined here, it was very busy, so we did our best to speed things along. We both ordered six-pour flights, which were simple to organize since the servers asked you to write your commands on the sheet before they filled glasses. The food menu seems great, and the restrooms are very easy to find. We chose to sit patio side with the heated bench and roof heat, which was awesome for a chilly day with a book outside. We enjoyed the beers, especially the unique seasonal options that we will never enjoy again. I would recommend setting up a water station somewhere, since we had to bother staff a few times, and this, I am sure is not the most convenient for servers on busy weekends. Our server forgot to ask for a card or payment, so we returned at the end of our venture here to make sure they got paid and got their gratuity. We saw a few other people in the same situation who left without paying, so be careful of that karma!

Gwendolyn S.

Yelp
Hubby and I decided some nourishment- liquid and otherwise- was in order after a long morning of shopping. It being a blustery day in winter, indoor seating was the only option. The only spots available were high tops by the bar. They have it so if you're in this part of the restaurant, you have to get up and order at the bar. With only one tender on a busy Sunday, this took a while. We'd probably spend more time here, to be honest, if they rethought this policy. Once our order squeezed through the bar-service bottleneck, service was prompt and friendly- though we each would've had a second drink of ordering weren't such a pain in the ass. As for the food, Burger Boy got a smash burger with tots, and I had the fish and chips. Taste-wise, above average pub fare. Price-wise, about what you'd expect in Bend. There was something else, though, that compelled us to leave once our food was done: loud country music. Neither of us shared the bartender's obvious enthusiasm for the genre and left far more quickly than we might have otherwise.

Kevin D.

Yelp
4 stars really just for the outdoor space. We were visiting Bend and had some time to kill before meeting up with friends for dinner and stumbled on this spot so we grabbed a drink and sat along the river. The overall vibe of people (and dogs!) there just felt great. Our cocktails, a bit over sweetened and just ok but we also ordered cocktails at a brewery. Staff was friendly but they had a lot of people working, but only one person making/pouring drinks which made it take quite awhile. We'd come here again.

Yelp
Food 3/5: it was a mediocre overpriced sandwich. The experience/service was so bad, I feel that there are better places to venture and try. Service is -1/5 The most horrible customer service I have ever received. We ordered from the food truck and this place just left a very sour taste in my mouth, so bad that I needed to write a review.. BEFORE ordering, I made them aware of a food allergy, (the boy who I placed an order with was different than the man serving the food) while at the truck trying to retrieve the food, I noticed that the food precaution I made them aware of was on the food. After asking if I could get a new sandwich, the server became EXTREMELY frustrated and upset that "all food allergies need to be made known before ordering" (which already was -- and the boy who took my order even acknowledged that he did not communicate this with the man prepping/serving the food) I waited an extra 15 minutes for my sandwich to be re-made (which was no problem) but the problem was that he purposely made me wait on top of that!! I waited by the truck the entire time as my sandwich was being remade and I watched this sandwich sit by the window while he severed other customers before he gave it to me.. he finished making it, saw me waiting but did not serve me. Thankfully the boy who took my order handed me the sandwich. this just seemed cruel and extremely unnecessary -- I felt like it was a form of punishment for asking for a new sandwich.. :(

Janice B.

Yelp
very unhappy with my visit, earlier today Sept 20, 2024. Waited an hour and a half for 2 dishes. Tried to rattle their chain after an hour-....obviously, visitors are not a priority. No one cared.

Chuck P.

Yelp
Food was great. Loved the outdoor space. Servers friendly Great place to take visitors

Jessica S.

Yelp
View is epic. Service is great. beer- all the drinks, reallyare awesome. I love their cauliflower.

Grace M.

Yelp
I cannot stop thinking about this Cole slaw w my fish and chips - best I've ever had!! So flavorful and garlicky almost? I want to know what their secret is. Everything here was delicious. The fry on both the fish and fries were perfect, and I enjoyed every bite. Salad was classic and refreshing, chicken a bit dry tho. I ordered pick up and the staff were very accommodating, as their online portal wasn't working but they allowed me to phone in an order. I'd love to go again whenever I'm visiting bend.

Janell H.

Yelp
Food is always exceptionally good. They are dog friendly and we always enjoy sitting outside by the lake.

Evelyn V.

Yelp
Service was great. Wait wasn't long for a holiday weekend. Drinks came out quickly. We had the fried cauliflower and that was a good appetizer while we waited for our meal. It was a nice out sitting out in the patio even with the hot weekend. Don't mind coming back here again.

Julie D.

Yelp
Bend brewing is a hopping place (pun intended). Nice menu and a fun food truck outside. Located on a river with great scenery. The help was friendly and the beer was good. We sat outside in the sun and enjoyed the beautiful day. Walkable to other breweries. We will visit here again when we are in town.

Anna S.

Yelp
My sister and I each had an order of the fish and chips with fries. The fish was half the size of what I'm acustom to on the coast of California. The tartar sauce was sweet. However, my sister did not care for the taste. My husband ordered the tri-tip sandwich with coleslaw and enjoyed both of them. He also ordered the beer in the photo but can not remember the name of it. He also enjoyed the taste and had another. The atmosphere was on the louder side, but then it was a brewery. The reason for the three stars? We felt that our waitress was not very attentive and possibly due to our race.

Elena D.

Yelp
Fantastic set up, location, people and food. We came here on a Friday with perfect weather just before the lunch rush. We were sat outside under the tent and were helped right away. Turns out our waiter was only on his 3rd day at BBC but you wouldn't have known, he was great and helpful. I ordered the BBC smash burger and husband had the Tri Tip sandwich (and a hazy IPA). Also, they have a food truck on site that I believe you can order from instead if you don't want the full service of the restaurant, the menu is similar but smaller. Husband said the IPA was one of his favorites so we ordered a Crowler to go (sorry I don't recall the name). My burger was great, even though for a smash burger, it had a surprising amount of pink but that didn't bother me. The waffle sweet potato fries were amazing! Husband said the Tri Tip was good but that the cajun tots were even better. Pretty big praise, he's very picky about his tots. The location is great, next to Drake Pond with lots of outdoor seating but also private and not a shared space like you get down at the Old Mill.

Lori S.

Yelp
Outside right on mirror pond with a heated tent for when it is chilly outside. Indoor seating has an amazing indoor bar area with recent interior upgrades. Great beer and food. Definitely try the pretzel appetizer and Cajun tater tots and tacos! The service is always friendly and adds to our experience.

Alexander G.

Yelp
On our first full day in Bend we enjoyed a long walk along the Deschutes River including walking through downtown. Bend Brewing immediately caught our eye and we decided to eat lunch there. The property fits with the older look of the town but is still large and modern. The draw for nicer weather is the large outdoor seating/park area right along the river, also with a tent with warmers and outdoor tables in the sunshine. Regardless it was too cold for us so we went inside. You're immediately greeted with a large bar area, well lit with colored bottles catching the eye. We sat in the front area with high windows, great view of the trees and blue sky that day. Our server was efficient and fast, if not the friendliest to chat. The restaurant has restrooms between the front room and back room toward the street, which seems like an event area. We each ordered a flight; I loved the flight boxes and glassware. We all ordered food - I shared the bison burger with goat cheese and tater tots with a friend; we were glad we did as everything was rich. The beer was great quality as well - everything we all ordered was delicious and varied. This is highly recommended beer stop in Bend, a town known for beer.

Karley E.

Yelp
Great atmosphere and service was good for a lunch hour! We enjoyed our food although it was a bit pricey! Would go back and hopefully next time for some live music.

Linda F.

Yelp
2nd oldest brewery in Bend, 1995. The mosaic was excellent and the hazy was very good. The fish tacos and brisket tacos were delicious. We were there during a brew fest with lots of people and good, live music. All in all a good evening

Laura N.

Yelp
We came on a Saturday night for live music and dinner. I ordered the Brisket sandwich with sweet potato fries, and my companion had the fish and chips (Cajun tots). The music laid the perfect background for a meal on the patio next to the river. While service was quick, it was average. The Brisket and coleslaw was really tasty, I ended up leaving the bread as it was kind of plain. The fish was really crispy and tasty. I drank a Mock-mule which was delicious. Overall, I would return on a night that had live music, as it was a perfect date or family night.

Lauren H.

Yelp
Beautiful night sitting outside in the huge patio area. Helpful service knowing that the fries were breaded and not gluten free. Smashburger was a fan favorite and the salads were filling!

Camille H.

Yelp
Always love coming to this brewery when in Bend. Tasty beers and good food! My favorite go to is the fried chicken sandwich. They also have pretty good fish and chips. I love that when it's nice out they have a large outdoor area for people to sit and there's also beers on tap outside and a food cart. Staff is friendly, I've always had a good experience. They also have nice merchandise available! It's a spot worth stopping at when walking around town.

Matt R.

Yelp
Really love this place. Beer. Good good. And, a lawn. Second time here. Last year we had drinks and dinner. Tonight, just drinks. The service team is super friendly. The ambiance is great. Both times here we sat in the lawn. Great place to kick back and relax and socialize with people you never knew you wanted to know. Tonight, we were "entertained" by a guy who just bought a recorder. He was mildly entertaining AND 100% hilarious (or was that his friends?). And. It right next to the Deschutes River. This place is 100%.

Stephenie W.

Yelp
Food is really good love the service, beautiful place to enjoy with friends and family.

Big P.

Yelp
Normally, I have a lot to say about the restaurants that I visit. However, I found a Bend Brewing Company to be somewhat lackluster. Obviously, this place is about the beer they brew - it's in their name - but I had hoped the food and service would be better. I found the food to be exceptionally salty, and the service somewhat disjointed. For what it's worth. I had the pretzel with cheese and mustard, the cheese curds, and a smash burger. The pretzels seemed a bit over cooked. The cheese for the pretzel lacked meaningful flavor, the cheese curds were so salty that I only ate a couple of them, and the smash burger was similarly salty. Not every place "hits it out of the park" every day... perhaps this is just not the ideal day for them. I believe it is likely we may have shown up during a shift change of some sort which may have impacted both the service and the food. Nonetheless, I would return to give it another chance. The outdoor seating was wonderful, and the views of the river were pleasant.

Sandra C.

Yelp
Beautiful outside area. The lights am outside were a nice touch. The kids got to run around in the grass, fast service, tasty food! A gem!

Nicol R.

Yelp
Great beer, if you like IPAs I got the Session and loved it! The BBC Smash Burger was honestly the best smash burger I've ever had and I'm not a big smash burger fan. Service was very friendly and helpful. Nice ambiance, river close by and a community hang grass area in the back.

Michelle D.

Yelp
We love coming here as it offers a great open space with a nice view of drake park/deschutes river. We like that you get the option to wait for the main menu/full service or take advantage of the outdoor bar/food truck and seat yourself. I got the fish tacos and my gf got the chicken sandwich which we both were very happy with. Would def come back!

Sahra K.

Yelp
Swung by here a few weeks ago for a bite, some drinks, and to enjoy the nice weather. They were setting up for some live music, which we unfortunately didn't hear before we left. Service was good and quick. The tots were a bit overwhelming, which says a lot for me. Definitely something to share amongst 4-5.

Megan B.

Yelp
My partner and I called ahead to ask about an outdoor seating area because we were visiting from out of town with our dog. Although it was not running, the worker kindly said he would turn on the heater on in the covered tent for us to come in and enjoy the restaurant with our pup. We were the only couple sitting in this area, but regardless they spent the time, energy, and effort to get this area set up for us and it was greatly appreciated. We got a burger and a turkey sandwich. Both of our meals were absolutely delicious! Turkey sandwich was HUGE and the smash burger was a great deal because it came with a beer and fries all for $15. Will definitely be coming back when we visit Bend again!

Brittany M.

Yelp
Came for a beer and a snack. Ordered chips and guacamole from the food cart outside, thought $14 for some chips and guacamole was a bit steep. Was even more shocked and disappointed with what I got. I honestly feel like they should be embarrassed to serve this and charge $14. Salsa and guacamole taste like they're out of a premade package and came in the same containers they'd give you if you ordered ketchup with your fries. Beer is decent but I think I'd skip food from here...

Kevin M.

Yelp
Awesome meal in a beautiful setting. Had the fish and a side salad, and table had smash burger and fries, and chicken southwest salad. Everything was really fresh, came out fast, and we're all leaving full. Service was fast and friendly. Would come back!

Jim R.

Yelp
Stopped for beer and lunch and was not disappointed. Group had a couple of beers and cocktails- all were good. Had the pretzel appetizer, it was good. The beer cheese was just ok. Had the BBQ burger was quite good, the crispy fish tacos were nicely done. The chicken sandwich was huge. We did not leave hungry.

Kevin C.

Yelp
Woah! What a great time at BBC!! Got there on a Friday night, when the locals were just getting started after a hard day working at their tech startup or weed growing operation or whatever they do here in Bend. The place was jumping with kids, dogs and a great vibe. Maybe it's the weed?? We were seated on the deck facing the sea of vaccinated liberals playing hacky sack and talking kayaking, and other outdoorsy stuff. Order a few beers. The beers were awesome!! The Cajun tater apps were fantastic. The burgers were even better! Scrumptious, the fries were perfectly seasoned. Such an awesome way to spend an afternoon!!

Marisela V.

Yelp
A few years ago, I stopped by this downtown brewery, and it was bustling. They have an impressive beer selection, and even though I'm not typically a beer drinker, the stouts were delicious. It's a great area to hang out, and during our visit, it was slightly snowing, so the outdoor fire pit was a nice touch.

Sarah J.

Yelp
Bend Brewing Company is a great place for a beer and some brew food. They have a nice outdoor seating area in which you sit at picnic tables and you have a view of the river. If you sit outside, you can order right from the food truck. They have "the top sellers" of Bend Brewing Company. You can also do this with their beers outside, however, there is a limited tap menu. BTW at the food truck, this is a limited food menu, so if you would like the full menu, I would sit inside. We decided to sit outside and order from the food truck, but first, we went inside to get some beers. We walked right up to the bar and got a sour and hazy. Both were very delicious! Next, we found a nice picnic table and ordered from the food truck. We got a pretzel and some fish n chips. The food came out pretty quick. Both were very good! Overall, we enjoyed the food, the beer, and the environment. We will be back.

Katherine N.

Yelp
PARKING: There is a small private lot for you to park at. AMBIANCE: It is a casual restaurant. FOOD: I ordered the Chili soup which was solid. It was flavorful and has spicy kick to it. As for drinks, I got the Schnapps Hot Chocolate which is the perfect drink on a cold day. All of these was perfect for a cold evening dinner! (I believe I ordered these items from new or limited items during this time.) SERVICE: Service was great! Our server is always attentive: checked in with our group to make sure we are good + refilled our water. I highly recommend stopping by here if you're passing by, visiting, or even living in this cute town!

Barrett H.

Yelp
Did two laps around this place trying to find the entrance. Saw a half dozen signs saying what wasn't an entrance and that we needed to check in. Zero signs identifying check-in and zero employees seen. There are a thousand breweries in Bend, so I'm moving on with my life.

Tammy W.

Yelp
I'm visiting from out of town and needed food (and a drink) after a long travel day. Came here around 2pm on a Thursday. There was a really short wait to be seated for lunch. By the time I got my beer at the bar, my table was ready. First, the beer - I got a flight of 6. I got the sour + 4 lighter beers + the mocha porter. Not a huge fan of the porter but the rest were very good. Easy drinking and perfect for a nice day. Second, the food - I got the burger with sweet potato fries. It came out pretty quickly and it was also devoured quickly. So good! It's a smash burger style. Fries were also great and came with a spicy ketchup. Third, the service was great. My server was attentive but not too much so. Bartender was also very friendly. Lastly, the brewery sits right along the river and is beautiful. There's a great beer garden with picnic tables if you're just getting beer and don't want a sit down meal. A great brewery to add to your list in Bend!

Michelle M.

Yelp
I've been a Bend resident for over 25 years, this evening I was so disappointed in the food at BBC. The fish and chips is labeled as "Bend's best fish and chips" and unfortunately it was the worst. It was ALL breading. There was so little fish in it. After peeling away the layers of breading, there was so little fish and what was there was so overdone and dry. I would not recommend the the fish and chips. We may go back for a drink and ambiance of the river, but I do not think I will eat there again. Now I remember why we rarely go there. Too bad.

Katherine L.

Yelp
The venue is outstanding! It has an amazing outdoor space that has a picnic/ park feeling. We were there for a pre wedding party and they accommodate us with easy. Some of the beers are good other we're not. The food was not good and limited selection ( four "main" dishes. They did have this lavender lemonade that half the party absolutely flipped four, Patty other half, but it tasted like bleach lol! It was a fun night and I would definitely go again, but I would eat before.

Jeff L.

Yelp
Great outdoor area on the river. A wide selection of beers including 7 IPA's when I was there. We didn't eat but the food looked good. The barkeep was more than accommodating and very helpful. I highly recommend this place.

Ethan T.

Yelp
There are 50 cheese curds in the Wisconsin cheese curd appetizer. Parker's (our waiters) guess was 20 She was 30 off She provided great service! Thanks Parker!

Robin S.

Yelp
For enjoying good beer outside by the Deschutes River, this place is perfect on a nice summer day.

Cassidy B.

Yelp
Amazing outdoor seating area and great beer! Many menu options for quick bites or eat or full entrees. Great variety is drinks! We'll be back :)

Jenn B.

Yelp
Wasn't planning on stopping by Bend Brewing on our Oregon road trip, but we couldn't resist after seeing their expansive and charming patio right on the river. Tried two of their beers, which were both great, and the Cajun tots, which was a perfect appetizer to share. Highly recommend!

J P.

Yelp
We brought our family to sit on the patio and enjoy the view, which did not disappoint. However, the quality of our food was highly variable, with some of our food cold, some warm and some meals were also burnt. The quality of the staff also was highly variable. Be aware tables of eight or greater gratuity is included, and it felt like quality of service was not concern because of this. I would recommend this place for the view and beer, skip the food and cocktails.
