Wayzata’s Best Restaurants for Any Occassion | Eater Twin Cities

"This cheerful, bright diner in downtown Wayzata, Benedict’s is a local breakfast favorite. A must-order are the eponymous benedicts: from a classic ham and egg to a “Nordeaster” with butter-poached lobster and Old Bay hollandaise, or the “Steak,” with beef tenderloin and smoked onion mustard." - Eater Staff

The food is really good and I love the atmosphere. I've been here before and I work in a restaurant myself. We don't have a reservation because they don't do reservations, but we had joined the waitlist and we were a party of eight and we know that it's big, but we weren't able to sit together in order to eat and then we were charged gratuity even though we didn't sit together. I know it's based off the kitchen, but we also didn't receive our food right away at the same time so the gratuity didn't make sense. I work in my own restaurant so I understand like busyness, but it's just a little weird. Overall I had a good experience.

Google
Masha was our server and we wanted to thank her for a wonderful breakfast experience today! ✨♥️ It was our first time at Benedict’s and the food was fantastic. We tried the California, the Standard and washed them down with some fresh OJ - some of the best eggs we’ve ever had - and don’t skip out on the sweet potato fries - YUM! 🤤 Service was incredible and friendly. Prices were reasonable. The restaurant itself was gorgeous and we definitely want to explore the location more as it’s settled in such a cute area. We can’t wait to be back!

Google
An underwhelming brunch spot that prioritizes appearance over flavor and quality. While we were seated immediately, our food took over 45 minutes to arrive, and only one of the three dishes was warm. Although disappointed by the experience, we gave it another chance, but the second and third visits were just as slow, with mediocre food and service. Most customers seem to overlook the covered parking in the rear. It may be Instagrammable, but it’s not worth the time or money - pass. Tavern 4&5, Peg’s, Fat Nats, even Localz food truck are better options.

Google
This place is top notch for breakfast. Service is very efficient and the food was great! Hope to be back soon

Google
I love this place, it’s cozy and the service is wonderful. My burger looked a bit too pink and I didn’t even say anything about it but they comped my burger anyways. The food is amazing and my server, I didn’t catch his name, was great I really appreciated him. It’s also in an area that has lots of parking choices so that’s a plus. We love coming here, it’s a birthday staple for us, I always get the caramel monkey bread. ❤️

Google
I was so impressed with our breakfast here today. It was my first time making it in and I can’t understand why it wasn’t on my radar. The waitress was so attentive and helpful with suggestions, something that’s very important to my indecisive self. All of the meals ordered were delicious, especially my Benedict! The bloodies with their house mix were also delicious, and loved the unique garnishes.

Food was really good, prices are high for breakfast place. Serving was just ok.

Google
This place was actually perfect. It had a sense of familiarity. The food was top grade. The servers were so nice. I had breakfast potatoes with sausage omelette. my friend had the french toast. I have never tasted french toast that taste so nice. it was fluffy buttery and something you can imagine eating for the rest of your life. The potatoes tasted fresh and crispy. Our server took into mind that we do not eat pork, and took the time to give us something tasty and delicious. Hundred out of hundred will come again.

Yelp
Everyone in my extended family group of six enjoyed what they ordered, which is saying something for my family! Food service occurs at brunch pace, so be ready to chill and chat as part of the experience. Get the nutella and donuts appetizer. Just do it ...

Yelp
Stopped in for a girls brunch on a Friday morning. Despite being quite busy, it had a relaxed vibe and the sever was attentive, but we didn't feel rushed as we spent time chatting and relaxing. We all had "The Classic" Benedict. It was well prepared with the requisite ham, egg, and hollandaise. It wasn't the best Eggs Benedict I've ever had, but it would rank in the top five. You have a choice of sides- I went with hash browns- they were wonderfully crispy and not oily. The coffee was tasty and our sever kept our cups full- which we appreciated. Benedict's is a great breakfast/brunch spot- I would definitely return.

Yelp
I really enjoyed the Monte Cristo sandwich. And the staff were very friendly and efficient. This place definitely has a nice ambiance, but I will say that during busier times the seating can feel a bit cramped.
google avatar

Yelp
super delicious food. would definitely recommend the french toast. very busy for sunday brunch but the staff does an excellent job of keeping the flow going! the vibe was super cute and i loved the lake vibes! i will definitely be coming back in the summer before a beach day!

Yelp
Second time coming to Bennedict's, this time on a Saturday morning. Good brunch spot, loved the biscuits and gravy and the strawberry/S'mores pancakes were good as well. Both times the service was a little slow because of the crowd but a solid breakfast/brunch spot and no complaints.
google avatar

Yelp
Stopped by on a Tuesday morning around 10 AM, and it was surprisingly busy -- definitely a popular spot! I tried the tater tot hash, and it was excellent -- crispy, flavorful, and satisfying. I also got an almond latte, which was smooth and well-balanced, with just the right amount of sweetness. The atmosphere was lively, and although it was a bit crowded, the service was still friendly and efficient. A solid breakfast/brunch spot -- I'll definitely be back to try more from the menu!

Yelp
We had friends in town and were looking for a nice brunch place to take them to - especially one that is vegetarian friendly. We had heard good things about Benedicts in Wayzata so took a drive up to give them a shot. Don't sleep on this Western suburb restaurant. The breakfast food is banging and the service is impeccable. For vegetarians, if you take meat out of a dish they will even offer to let you sub in vegetarian options like avocado for free! Which is unheard of nowadays. We shared the Monkey Bread to start which is a traditional monkey bread, but you can get a combination of Caramel AND Cream Cheese topping. Which I highly recommend as it is decadent, sweet, and delicious. For my meal, I went with a Build Your Own Omelet. I had them throw in Jalapenos, Spinach, and Mushrooms. Was it huge? Absolutely. Did I eat it all while drinking plenty of coffee and having great laughs with friends? You know it. ____

Yelp
Good Morning! Love this cute breakfast/lunch spot. We came across this place while exploring downtown Wayzata. What a gem and everything on their menu sounds amazing! I am gluten free so that's a huge plus (+) - they have gfree pancakes, bread, etc. Well since this place is called Benedict's - it would be weird not to get a Benedict. Right? I got the original Benedict with gfree bread and a side salad...which consisted of greens, Parmesan, and red wine vinaigrette. I couldn't get enough of the refreshing side salad. The Benedict was delish. Hubby got the huevos rancheros and the kiddo got the doughnuts with Nutella. Yummmm! The service was okay but nothing spectacular. The booths and tables and seating areas are super cozy! Love the high ceilings and decor. As a side note, they have their own hot sauce and their mission that is listed on the back of the hot sauce label...love it.

Yelp
So impressed with this place! A large brunch menu with a great drink options - espresso drinks and more. The restaurant itself is so cute with both indoor and outdoor seating options. Since it was our first time here we wanted to try a variety of things. The monkey bread was the best I have everrrr had. I would love to go back and try cream cheese frosting option even though the caramel was AMAZING. Our server recommended it - she was great and checked in often and made sure we had everything we needed. I thought everything we ordered had great flavor, was served in a timely matter, and looked nice and put together. The only negative is this price of breakfast here - it's expensive. I still highly recommend for a fun or special occasion!

Yelp
We were able to get on the waitlist from the Yelp app and quickly seated for a group of 6 as soon as we got there which was super convenient as we had two littles with us. Husband and I ordered the monkey bread to share and got the combo which was a really great compromise cause we got to try both cream cheese and caramel flavors. I prefer my monkey bread to be more like a cinnamon roll in texture and not hard but it felt a little over baked but still yummy! I got the standard breakfast with the breakfast potatoes, bacon, scrambled eggs and the sourdough toast. The toast was thick and perfectly toasted, came with butter and a delicious strawberry jam. Came with about three pieces of bacon or so which was great! But the potatoes were really big pieces and not my fav. Service was great, atmosphere is very modern, and love the high ceilings. Beautiful restaurant!!

Yelp
We came from CO for a wedding and found ourselves here for brunch one of the days. What a great place! Our sever was Tom and boy does he know his stuff! My man knows what to suggest and how to upsell!! He was spunky and on it. Only negative was he suggested a drink to someone and it wasn't liked by anyone at our table. He said no problem you don't have to drink it, we'll get you something different. He still charged us for the drink and it just so happened to be the most expensive drink on the menu. Would have appreciated it being taken off the check since it wasn't liked and wasn't drank. The food was delicious and the menu vast. Their theme of the menu seemed as if it was pesto because almost every dish had some sort of pesto take. Everything was Delicious! The restaurant is spacious and hip. Happy faces everywhere! Table spacing was amazing! 10/10 would recommend stopping here and then taking a walk down to the bay.

Yelp
Wish I could rate this higher but almost ate a large piece of plastic packaging that was inside the sandwich. Other than that the monkey bread was great, the hashbrowns were tasty. And the sandwich was nice. Great service as well.

Yelp
Great location in the heart of Wayzata, parking easy to find. Nice breakfast bar as well. Food is solid but overpriced. Service seemed stressed

Yelp
Went with friends on a Monday morning. A beautiful space with high ceilings on ground level trail space. Beautiful inviting yet warm environment. No wait for table. Parked on Lake Street . Enjoyed the chicken pesto hash with poached eggs. Over the top good with subtle flavors and just plain yummy. Others had classic Benedict's and thoroughly enjoyed. I thought their coffee from a local roaster(only commercially available) was fantastic.

Yelp
I am a regular customer, and have been going to breakfast since opening, in 2016. The food is always great! The service is also wonderful, Mausha, the bartender, handles the beverages with ease & professionalism: coffee hot & water replenished. The restaurant's ambiance is exquisite: located in a safe area, the quiet music is relaxing, the space is very clean & the vibe is great. I usually order "The Standard;" or omelete-of-the day plus toast.

Christopher

Yelp
This breakfast early lunch restaurant charges a service fee. Added to bill unannounced. And the charge is not shared with wait staff. And they now ration syrup for your pancakes order. Small serving then charge for another extra small serving. Ketchup, butter and jelly may be next. Bring your own. Food good. Service very good. Pleasant place to have breakfast. Server at bar makes a killer latte. $(6).

Yelp
We came here for brunch after church and had a nice lunch! I'd probably rate it 4.5 but that's not an option so I bumped it up. Breakfast was good and filling. The black coffee is Blah. (Pass) Fresh squeezed OJ was great! Staff was awesome. I love the vibe inside - peaceful and happy colors! Really great decor, big windows! Lots of seating. Some street parking or a lot across the street. A little on the spendy for the food and drinks but we were in Wayzata. This place is worth checking out with friends or family.
google avatar

Yelp
Had brunch here on a Sunday. Though I didn't make a reservation, we were seated quickly since we were willing to sit outside. The weather was fine, a little cloudy with mild breeze. The dining area inside was packed though. Teresa, our server, was energetic, attentive, and quick. The smoked trout was soo good! Very flavorful. The creaminess from the cream cheese, freshness of the dill, and hollandaise on top of the eggs all jived perfectly!

Yelp
One of my favorite brunch places! I always take friends and family who come and visit here. The drinks are great, and I love the variety of mimosas (get the blood orange!). Any of their Benedict's are delicious, I've never had a bad one. I also love when they have special ones for different occasions and holidays. Like the green Benedict for St. Paddy's. Service is fast and friendly. I also love the high ceilings, cute bar area and windows. Just come here!

Yelp
Very disappointed in our dining experience this morning. Overall the food was barely average in taste. Ordered a small cappuccino, accepting the fact it was $6.00, but it was a treat. It came in an espresso size cup - truly the smallest version of a small I've ever seen. Equally small is the printing on the menu that states all prices are for cash. A 3% service fee will be added if paid by credit card. My husband went to pay with a check and was told they do not accept checks. Only there is nothing that states this on the menu. He was finally able to get them to take his credit card and waive the 3% service fee. Can't think of any reason we would go there again. Which is a shame, as we were there last summer and thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

Celia B.

Yelp
Great food + drinks options. Also, the overall vibe is fun and the wait staff is on top of their business. Busy but worth the wait -- use the waitlist option!

Yelp
Went with friends for brunch on a Monday and was really disappointed by the speed of service, especially given that it wasn't particularly busy and they appeared to be well staffed. We waited over an hour between ordering our food and getting it, and a good 20 mins after being seated before we were greeted by our server. Still giving 3 stars because the food really was delicious, and I'd be curious to return at a different time in the hopes that the waits aren't as long.
google avatar

Yelp
Cute, stylish breakfast joint in downtown Wayzata. No reservations, but that's ok! Yelp offers the waitlist option which worked out so well. Enjoyed brunch for (2) on a Saturday afternoon and it was such a great time. We could not choose and luckily, our server was 10/10 and let us know you can split your benny order (new fav brunch option unlocked). We ordered: Mini doughnuts w/ chocolate sauce and their caramel sauce Deviled Eggs 1/2 Cubano Benny 1/2 Hot Chick Benny Pomegranate Mimosa Vanilla (hot) Latte and finally, the chicken pesto hash. I mean if you are going to go all out for brunch, you MUST stop here. Everything was delicious, flavorful, and hot to order. The portions are great for sharing (and leftovers too). The main takeaway from this experience for me was the coffee. It was coffee shop quality inside of a restaurant and blew me away. The décor is adorable, and staff are stellar. Cannot wait to over order again very soon.

Yelp
Love everything I've had here and I've tried half their menu. Hot Fried chicken Benedict is my fav

Yelp
Benedict's has high ceilings and an overall clean aesthetic. The service was fast contrary to the reviews I had read, however it was raining and it was a Tuesday. There was street parking right in front, but there is also plenty of parking at the strip mall across the street. The service was fast and our server was kind! The food however was very bland, but I kind of expected that as this is in Wayzata. The french toast was delicious though! I am not usually a sweet tooth, but the overall flavor with the berries and cream was amazing. I would say the coffee and syrup did help though as it was a bit dry without it.

Kris H.

Yelp
Have been several times. Consistently good, fresh food. Very large portions. Those with light/medium appetites could easily split a meal and leave full. Their Bloody Mary is one of the best I've ever had (I ordered it spicy). Service was friendly; ambience on point casual for a breakfast place in Wayzata. *Tip: The waitlist is a no-brainer 'must' on Saturday and Sunday since they're always really busy. Not a reservation, but you can 'get in line' at home and time your arrival accordingly. No standing for 25 minutes squished in a crowded entry. Sign up from their website.

Kim A.

Yelp
Service was very poor; our mimosas came after our food. The food was nothing special. We had to ask for someone to bring us water, take our order, bring our drinks and the bill. The server was overstretched and did not attend to us.
google avatar

Kaylee L.

Yelp
Went to Benedict's for my birthday and had a great time! I got the eggs Benedict served over chicken and biscuits. The food was good, nothing spectacular and the peach margarita was very strong! I was not a fan of the hash browns. They were finely shredded and I had to add salt to them. What made it a great experience was my server! She was so kind and she had a nice energy to her. The area nearby is very nice so I look forward to exploring other restaurants in the area.

Yelp
A cute place that appears to be downtown Wayzata. It's a very popular place, so it's best to get on the wait list. There was about an hour wait on a late Sunday morning. When coming to a place called Benedict's, someone in your group is obligated to get an eggs Benedict. I tried the Smoked Trout Benedict. It's a smoked trout cake, bell pepper, dill hollandaise sauce and green onion. It was good but not great. It was a little bit fishy for me and that lasted a good part of the day. The poached eggs were a bit over-cooked. The $13 bloody Mary's were just okay. It took almost and hour to get our food (not an exaggeration!) and that was after waiting an hour for a table. I completed two Bloody Mary's before our food even came. Maybe that was their plan? Eating here was a half-day long event. After about an hour after ordering, I told a staff member that if our food wasn't here soon, we would cash out and leave, since we had to bring someone to the airport. Our food came 30 seconds later. It would've been nice if they were a little apologetic and maybe gave us a free drink or two but nope, nothing. Pretty disappointing and for that reason, I will not be back.
google avatar

Andrew P.

Yelp
Unfortunately, our waiter made this a very bad experience. He brought the che check out within 10 minutes of bringing our food. And then within 45 minutes, he told us "he was obliged to tell us people" were waiting for our table. It honestly ruined everything, and we will never be back. If a waiter wants to earn more, he should provide better service, rather than push people out of the restaurant as quickly as possible.
google avatar

KJ O.

Yelp
First and foremost. We had the most amazing server who literally read our minds and gave excellent suggestions. The space was booked, a little bougie, and busy, but service was prompt. That alone, I'll be visiting again. She's a little on the spendier side (I also got the most expensive thing on the menu - the lobster Benedict) , but The food was also delicious.
google avatar

Robert W.

Yelp
Stopped by Benedict's a few weeks back while a friend was visiting for brunch. We decided that we wanted to have a special brunch near Lake Minnetonka and have heard that Benedict's is a great place to go. We made a reservation pretty last second which was great, and when we got there, we were able to request our table be outside on the patio which was excellent since the weather was so beautiful. Although Benedict's is close to the water, I have to highlight that the patio has absolutely no view of the water, although it is a still nice sidewalk patio. The menu is pretty expansive with many types of Benedict's along with other popular breakfast/brunch foods. I decided to go with one of my favorites - Gravlax Benedict. This was a decent Benedict, the egg was well cooked and there was plenty of lox which I enjoyed. There were some unusual additions which I think took away from the meal a bit - mainly the confit tomatoes. On their own, they did taste great but it was a little strange for me in the Benedict, but to each their own - I am sure this makes a lot of people extra happy. I had the side of hashbrowns, they were alright - nothing to write home about. Overall, it was a decently solid experience - definitely not very memorable, but still a good meal.

Charlene W.

Yelp
Always great service with fantastic food. The breakfast potatoes! We highly recommend.

June M.

Yelp
Very expensive but I do like the French Toast. Don't appreciate the additional charge for using a charge card.
google avatar

Josh D.

Yelp
Classic breakfast joint. I only come on weekends, and it is always full. The location is unbeatable (outside of parking) - as it is a short walk away from the waterfront of Wayzata. I'm not the biggest breakfast eater - but if you are you likely have found a new favorite when you visit. They have ALL the classics. Everything I have tried has been good. My family loves eggs benedict - so I'm sure I'll be back with a crew that would tell me this should be a five star review. It is the namesake after all. The service is impeccable. It just feels like you are being taken care of honestly. I'd certainly call it an upscale breakfast - but what would you expect? It is in downtown Wayzata!
google avatar

Laurine N.

Yelp
The server would'nt accept my friend's printed license ID and denied her from ordering a drink. The server seemed annoyed with us, however managed to maintain professionalism. Surprisingly the salad was flavorful !! The mini donuts with Nutella was decent. Monkey bread has caramel and condensed milk yumm!!! I wish the breading used to make the crispy chicken was more Cajunly seasoned, along with more honey on the biscuit toast. Nevertheless I liked this restaurant, I would dine here again for lunch.
google avatar

Ebiza M.

Yelp
The friendliest staff & great food. Always enjoy a morning at Benedict's. I had the pulled pork, black bean & Arepa cakes egg Benedict. If you like anything Masa, you will love this dish. The most delicate & moist Arepa cakes ever! Appreciate a restaurant that has crybaby Craig's hot sauce on the table!
google avatar

Emily B.

Yelp
Great space inside. Lots of booths, high ceilings, etc. Their pancake sliders are pretty yummy, but I've never been wowed by anything I've eaten there and for breakfast food - which I CAN actually make for myself - I really want to be impressed. I wasn't too impressed with the service the last time I ate here. My cousin waited nearly an hour for a cup of tea after kindly reminding the server. Not sure what the issue was. Some of our orders were incorrect as well. Just noting this, not a deal breaker just wasn't great.
google avatar

Yelp
Benedict's Morning Heroes in Wayzata has an amazing atmosphere and yummy yummy food. This lakeside restaurant offers a great breakfast/lunch menu and full bar to indulge in if you please! The service was amazing, she was so nice and gave us suggestions on the menu. There is plenty of street parking around the restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating! food featured: iced mocha, The Denver tot hash, and chicken pesto hash

Sandy H.

Yelp
Host made 7 of us, mostly late 60 & 70 yr olds, stand (next to the set table we would eventually be seated at) about 30 minutes until he knew the server would be "available". We had called ahead & were on the "wait list" which turned out to be, basically, irrelevant. 4 of "chairs" at our surfboard table, were backless stools. Water came. 30 minutes later I asked host if someone might help our server to get at LEAST our beverages to our table. One would think, at a restaurant of this caliber, when the server is overwhelmed, SOMEONE would help by getting coffee & beverages to their increasingly "hangary" guests! At about an hour, food arrived. Everyone really enjoyed their meals, which were delicious. Unlikely we will return however; based on our experience of no place to sit while waiting, and ridiculously slow service & ultimate expense. Coffee was $4 on the menu(?) but we were charged an extra $1.50... was that for the one refill(?) It's a lovely restaurant, but ultimately, "displeased".

Yelp
My favorite thing about this place was definitely the atmosphere. Very cool spot with tall ceilings, bright light and trendy decor. The food was good too, but a bit pricey in my opinion for what you get. We had a 25 min wait for a party of 4 on a Saturday morning at 9:30 which is not bad. I do need to put the disclaimer that no one in my party ordered a Benedict which is what they are known for. The challenge I had was our waiter, he was certainly full of personality and was quick to share his opinion on the menu. Some people may really enjoy this type of service but I found him to be a bit pushy. He also would ask us about adding things very quickly without sharing the extra cost of the additions. His service was quick which was a positive. Overall I will probably come back and try something else, but if I'm honest I'm going to cross my fingers for a different waiter. Free parking in the neighborhood and across the street.

Kari B.

Yelp
Amazing ambiance. Food was fantastic. Busy for a Monday morning. Will definitely be back.

Yelp
I had to go to my favorite brunch spot for my birthday this week. Benedict's offers so many amazing food options. I love starting with the monkey bread and even better you can pay a tiny bit more to get a mix of caramel and cream cheese frosting on top my absolutely favorite eggs Benedict is the Cubano!! The arepas are dense but add so much flavor as well as the carnitas. Definitely try the breakfast potatoes. Parking can be a little difficult and they are always busy. I recommend getting on their waitlist before arriving. Wayzata is a great city and Benedict's has a lovely charm too!
google avatar

Elijah W.

Yelp
I love to go here during the weekday mornings! It's normally not that busy and you really get to enjoy to atmosphere. The weekend's however are a different story and they are normally very busy. The food is all very good but as the name suggests the Benedict's are definitely the best things on their menu! My person favorite is the Cubano.
google avatar

Morgan W.

Yelp
I was a little hesitant bringing my 1 year old into Benedict's because you just never know what to expect in regards to tantrums, high chairs, toys and messes! Benedict's staff was so welcoming to my family and my little guy. The waiters were very attentive and checked in on us often. I also loved all the natural light they have in their restaurant. I dislike going into a restaurant during the day and it being gloomy and that wasn't the case here. Now let's get to the food! The food was AMAZING! I got the Classic Benedict and man was it mouth watering! I tried a sip of my parents bloody's and those were perfect! They also have a good selection for the kids menu so you don't need to worry about not finding something for your kiddos to eat. I will definitely be coming back! American
google avatar

Rimma B.

Yelp
We have made the drive to Wayzata several times to eat here!! The ambience is so cute and the food is amazing. The first time we did the mimosas and this time we had a bloody! Service is quick and attentive and we will definitely return. Word of caution- prepare to have a wait!

Yelp
You guys, brunch is my favorite meal of any day and Eggs Benedict are my favorite brunch order so it was obvious that I'd have to try Benedict's. It's been on my list since moving to the west side of the Metro area. There are so many different and unique options on the menu for Eggs Benedict, but for those not keen on the brunch order there are also other brunch options. I ordered the Hot Fried Chicken Benedict and I was so excited to get spicy fried chicken over a biscuit with hollandaise and hash browns. It wasn't spicy and the meal itself just wasn't flavorful. It was a bummer for sure because I really was hoping to get hit with a blast of spicy and salty. It was a meal that looked great, but didn't hold up in taste. I would try this spot again, but I might opt for non-Benedict options to see if those lack flavor as well.
google avatar

Megan S.

Yelp
The food and coffees are delicious. I've been here multiple times with no issues, however, most recently I was asked to leave by bartending staff after only being seated for less than one hour at a bar with one other person. I was actually celebrating a birthday and being asked to leave immediately after paying left a bad taste in my mouth and was very unexpected.

Yelp
Hello Benedict's is a cute trendy place in a very cute and trendy dowtown Wayzata. Everything is like your stepping into New Port. We will be back! The food was very good as well. My wife loved the Gluten free options and said the Gluten Free pancakes were amazing. It seems we ordered just about everything but mamosa or Bloody Mary's. The only reason for the 4 stars was the timing of the food. Allow some time as it took 35-40 minutes for our food to come. Otherwise great!! And thank you
