On paper, a small, privately-owned and operated hotel in the village of Keitum on the island of Sylt, but this hotel is so much more.||||The experience starts well before the hotel because you will be met at the local airport or train station and driven to the hotel by a friendly member of staff. Upon arrival, you are greeted at reception and immediately begin to feel like part of the family - everybody is genuinely happy to see you and ready to look after whatever your particular needs may be.||||Rooms vary from the cosy for singles, to the extravagant over several floors with wood burning fires, whirlpools and private saunas, so there's something to fit every taste and wallet.||||If the rooms with private sauna are not available, then there's still a wonderful spa, pool and gym, offering all the services you would expect from a world class hotel.||||The hotel restaurant serves breakfast from 8am until 1pm and it leaves nothing to be desired. The buffet is extensive, featuring the best local fare and the service is cheery and efficient.||||The dinner menu focuses on fish and seafood, but also caters to the meat lovers and vegetarians. An extensive wine cellar with both German and international specialties would make for a difficult choice, but the staff is well trained and recommendations always seem to be spot on.||||For those looking for a nightcap and lively conversation, then the hotel bar provides the ideal venue. The bar is a place every topic under the sun seems to generate lively participation, particularly from the host serving the drinks.||||The above is just a very quick overview of the more tangible hotel assets, but it is perhaps the little things, the intangibles, that make the Benen-Diken-Hof so special. These are so varied, often surprising and always appreciated, but they are difficult to capture on paper and have to be experienced first hand.
