The Best Mexican Food to be Found on St. Paul’s Payne Avenue - Eater Twin Cities

"Tamalli shares a food court with several others in Plaza del Sol on Payne, serving up traditional tamales, newfangled Mexican burgers and hotdogs, and drinks. Sample the sophisticated Oaxaqueño Tamal, chicken tamale with spicy mole sauce wrapped in a plantain leaf. The Mexican Hamburger features a mix of beef, peppers, and jalapeno aioli. Or ruin yourself for all other sandwiches with a Pambazo, a tastier torta sandwich with bread cooked in guajillo sauce." - Eater Staff

I’m from California and these are the best dang tamales I’ve had since moving to the Midwest a few years ago. They are absolutely bursting with amazing flavors. The masa is so moist and seasoned wonderfully. I will most definitely be back!

Everything we got was spectacular. We got a pork tamale and a tamale con rajas and they were the best tamales we’ve had in the US, which says a lot since my wife is from Southern Texas and we’ve been to the likes of California and other southern border states. Aguas frescas and Atole were also spectacular and were icing on the cake. Such a pleasant surprise.

This spot is such a Gem. Service was 10/10 The Torta de tamal is absolutely a must try. The beef tamales will definitely bring me back. I’ve tried atole and champurrado many places and i gotta say Beniz tamales takes the win. The side salsas are what i didn’t know i needed in life. The agua frescas are my new summer drink. Over all I’m in love with this place.

I have been looking for the best tamale on the east-side and found that today here at Beniz. My tamale con pollo was piping hot and had the perfect amount of spice. I will be back.

Had delicious authentic Mexican tamales here and their Mexican traditional atoles( hot coco) were super satisfying. Would highly recommend!
