"Founded in 1938, Benny Tudino’s is one of Hoboken’s oldest pizzerias. The fixtures inside are well worn, with pizza ovens in front and wood-clad dining room up a few steps in the rear. Tudino’s has survived all these years partly because of a gimmick — its slices are humongous, enough to easily make a big doughy meal, and the cheese flows like a raging stream at winter’s end. Pizzerias often pull this oversized slice trick in DC’s Adams Morgan, but rarely venture this far north." - Robert Sietsema

Located right on Washington St, close to Stevens institute of technology; this place is known for the biggest pizza slice in NJ while being really cheap too! The restaurant doesn't have any ambiance as such while the servers were friendly, the only disappointment for me was they are a cash only restaurant which should look to change as most of the people prefer being cashless these days! Coming to the pizza, I ordered a regular cheese slice. While the slice was really big and filling, I liked the crust being crisp as it was freshly made in front of me while the cheese was good, also the ingredients were in the right quantities. Overall, it's a cheap slice for $5 given the size of it also a good place to grab a quick lunch!

Google
Food was good overall. Huge pizza slices and they did not disappoint on the pasta. Service could be better but I understand because it is a busy spot. It feels like a family restaurant and that counts for extra points in my opinion.

About the Pizza Restaurant: Situated on Washington Street in Hoboken, this pizza restaurant exudes a lively atmosphere, drawing crowds even on snowy days. With its well-established presence and timeless charm, it appears to have been a staple in the community for generations. About the Experience: Venturing in for a taste of New York-style pizza, we were pleasantly surprised to discover this hidden gem. Opting for a pepperoni pizza slice, we found it to be generously sized, easily satisfying two hungry appetites. Each bite of the bread boasted incredible flavor, while the Margherita sauce offered a unique twist. The pepperoni topping added an extra layer of deliciousness to the experience. In summary, stumbling upon this restaurant was a stroke of luck, as it exceeded our expectations and left us eager to return. With its distinct flavors and welcoming ambiance, this pizza joint deserves a higher four-star rating.

Google
The pizza slice was indeed large (about 24 inches long) and quite filling. However the crust was soggy making it hard to appreciate it. Seating was also limited so it may be better to order take out from this place.

This is classic NY style pie .. large pie is cheesy , chewy and good. Lots of beer available. The pie is big. Staff is super friendly. The interiors are preserved well and you always see people enjoying the pizza. It’s definitely a must visit at lest 1 time for the experience

Google
OMG the pizza is amazing! I've seriously never seen anything so big! We were a group of 8 and tried a few different pasta dishes, the meatballs, salad and of course the house pie which was 32"! Everything was absolutely delicious. The best part about the night was our server. I didn't get her name, but she was fantastic. It was a great experience and I will definitely go back the next time I'm in town.

Got the giant slice, pretty good for a novelty slice. My wife said it had too much of a garlic taste for her liking. Great service and good prices.

Food and service were good. The food portions were pretty big. The waitress was very helpful. She was able to tell us which bus to catch to get to NYC.

Yelp
This pizza was excellent. We did a comparison between Benny's and 10th street pizza. Benny's was far better. It was a little under cooked for me but that's fine. I brought the HUGE slice home and popped it in the over. It was the size of almost 1/2 the PIE at 10th street pizza. I ordered my GIGANTIC slice With 2 topping. The guy told me $7. Cool. Then when my slice was ready I went to pay and he said- $8. I was confused why it went up $1. I had $8 in my hand anyway since i was tipping $1 anyway but in this case i just gave the $8. That's pretty much the reason I gave 4 stars. Even though I thought the slice was fantastic. I would definitely go back. And will see what they charge me then :) The place is definitely old school the way I like it. Kinda tight but fine. Again the pizza was way better than 10th street. That pizza didn't taste as good. At all!

Yelp
Prices went up a bit since my last review (inflation man), but still great pizza! Who doesn't love a pizza slice bigger than your head? Always friendly service from my experience and we've been coming here for years. This most recent time I decided to try buffalo chicken as a topping and phewwww they loaded it up!! Put a whole order of chicken tenders on top of my slice. Doesn't get better than this.

Mulan C.

Yelp
Ambiance: 5/5 Lots of tables in the back and you can see the chefs hard at work up front. Service: 5/5 Food: 5/5 I don't know how they do it! First of all, the slices are HUGE! The bottom is crunchy while the top is soft and filled with a savory sauce and a layer of the perfect amount of cheese. Even after eating it cold later on, it still tasted great!

Elizabeth B.

Yelp
Four stars for Benny's in Hoboken! Customer service? Spot-on. The staff is super friendly, and the pizza slices? Almost as big as the box--no joke! Just a heads-up: it's cash or Apple Pay only, so don't show up with just a card. I'll definitely be back for the great vibes and massive slices!

Erdan A.

Yelp
Best pizza I've ever had. I really recommend this place if your a pizza lover like me (lol). Been going to Benny's for the past 20 years and the pizza was amazing quality every single time. I also recommend getting their mussels with red sauce.

Yelp
Went in because I seen the biggest slice sign and yes the slice is hugeee. It was good from the cheese to the tomato sauce. The ambiance is like a vintage Italian pizzeria which was nice aesthetically. My only dislike was how the manager spoke to his staff in front of customers. It was rude & nasty for no good reason.

Yelp
First stop on the Hoboken pizza tour we have Benny's. Let me start by saying this is a tough call between 2-3 stars here. Food: When judging pizza properly - one must order a plain cheese slice, there's no hiding. To start - by no means was this pizza bad, it just wasn't overwhelmingly great. The X-factor here is the slice is ENORMOUS, you can absolutely order one slice and be full, which is awesome. The slice had a great cheese to sauce ratio but the sauce left something to be desired. The cheese had great pull and there was plenty of it... Unfortunately, I think the pizza was just a little doughy and floppy for my liking and kind of plain in flavor (probably due to the sauce). Overall a decent slice, but this is NJ, there is no bad pizza... with some steep competition right down the block there's no denying the only thing that will keep people coming here is the fact they make the biggest slice on the block. Service: Service was totally fine. The place was completely empty so the waitstaff was very attentive and there were really no issues at all. They were quite adamant about how the check could not be split and it had to be all on one check (which could be annoying in another scenario)... and another major red flag this place is CASH ONLY. I'm sorry but in 2023 this is unacceptable. Atmosphere: The place is classic NJ Italian. i actually loved it. It's outdated but i felt like i was in the Soprano's so that's cool. I did not go to the bathroom so i cannot comment on cleanliness but overall the place seemed just fine. Overall, I wasn't super impressed with this place. I've heard it's gone downhill after the passing of the old owner. I wish I tried it back in the day. It's decent pizza but there's so many good spots in the area it's hard to justify coming here. Size isn't everything :P

Yelp
Hoboken was my family's first home in America back in the 70's. So going back is always a nostalgic and fun experience. On my last 2 trips, I stopped at Benny Tudino's on Washington and ordered a large pizza to go to CALIFORNIA! The owner was so nice and kindly wrapped it up into 4 sections and packed it nicely in aluminum foil. People were stopping and looking and asking where was I taking it? California! They laughed and said I guess they don't have pizza in California lol! Which is not true, but they don't have pizza this good in California for sure! Unfortunately, I am gluten free but my family enjoys it. They also packed me a gluten free pie, but, I'll be honest - it does not travel well. Gluten free you gotta eat it right there while it's nice and hot. Thank you, Benny Tudino's! See you next time I am there!

Amit M.

Yelp
Big slice of Pizza but actual pizza is just ok. Better spots in Hoboken for better tasting pizza.

Christina A.

Yelp
Small pizza place. Love all the pictures on the wall. Waitresses are nice the guys making the pizza can be seen as rude but for me they're your typical Italian men who are trying to run a business and keep it moving. Place is cash only. Food is awesome! They're pizza slices are huge! Their other food is also really good! We got the penne vodka with grilled chicken and ham calzone. Good size portions!

Mercy M.

Yelp
Best pizza I've ever had! Wow! Will definitely revisit! Service was great! Great for family!

Dan H.

Yelp
The best Pizza ever! This place is an absolute must for anyone who has never tried true thin crust NY/NJ pizza. The slice s are huge! Great local spot in downtown Hoboken.

George B.

Yelp
Not sure what happened to this place, it used to be the biggest slice in the area , now it's the same as couple of other spots . $4.75 for a slice . I thought the slice was average at best.

Kelly G.

Yelp
The smells & friendly staff at Benny Tudino's made us feel as if we were home. Tammy, our server, especially made us feel welcome. She went out of her way to help me order (post-illness dietary restrictions), & brought our order out with a smile. The famous single slices are about the size of most places' small whole pizzas! Bring your appetite. We recommend meatballs as a topping. So good, & house-made. Order a side of tomato sauce, if you're like us & like to dip.

Jun L.

Yelp
Truly a Hoboken staple! My family comes here every single time we come to New Jersey, and it's something of our tradition. We're so glad to consider Benny Tudino's pizza as if it's our family. Of course, the staff is efficient, quick, and are very straight forward. It is a very classic and rustic environment, with photos on the wall, and a bustling crowd. I enjoy the environment because it feels more homelike. The pizzas here are truly amazing! With a crispy crust, thin, and light, their sizes will IMPRESS you. They have a photo on their wall with a slice as large as a baby! We haven't tried other menu items, but I'm very excited to see what else they have to offer, and will be so ready to go pay them another visit. Everybody left full, satisfied, and happy.

Dan G.

Yelp
Listen, you don't go to Benny Tudino's for their pizza, or even their food. You go there to say you ate at Benny Tudino's. If you want outstanding pizza, some even rivaling what you would get in Naples, there's more than a handful of spots in Hoboken and Jersey City; do your research. Unfortunately, BT's has been worn down to an old hat tourist trap, so if that's what you're in the mood for, leave your expectations at the door.

Amanda G.

Yelp
Every time I fly out to visit my brother, this is my first stop. Their pizza slices are massive and so delicious. Make sure you bring cash. They don't accept cards. I can't get enough. I usually get it 3-4 different times during my stay.

Paul P.

Yelp
Great restaurant with a lot of character. Arbend, the owner visited our table and thanked us for stopping by. Laurie our waitress was wonderful. When I attempted to order two slices of pizza, she said you have not been here before? Why don't you start off with one and then see if you want another slice. She was so right. It was delicious! Loved the idea that you could design you own slice. Can't wait to get back! Thanks everyone. See you soon!

Mara K.

Yelp
Okay Italian food but definitely not for the expense. You'll definitely spend a hefty amount for food you could've made better at home. Great pizza though, it's big enough that slapping 5$ on a slice makes sense.

Tim S.

Yelp
I ate there yesterday I saw the slices were huge I was very disappointed there was hardly no cheese no sauce it had no flavor and very dry if you want pizza with sauce and cheese I do not recommend this place it's a shame they've been in business so long and it seems like they don't know how to make pizza or they don't want to put any cheese or sauce on it it's no wonder there is no one in there at lunch time and it was empty! It seems a pizzeria that's been in business for so long would put good cheese and good sauce! It makes you so delicious so people would want to come there everyday very disappointed

Desiree D.

Yelp
it's been YEARS since i have made my way up to Benny's, to be fair i could have sworn i have given them a review before, but guess not? anyway, came in recently, was pretty let down. first off, all the "cheese" on the tables are NOT cheese. not parm cheese to sprinkle onto your pizza, it's like dollar store knock off fake cheese PRODUCT to put on your pizza. my date and i both tried putting some on our pizza, and it basically disappeared. weird. so i took off the top, and it came out like light, fluffy, powder. tasted disgusting. i ended up pulling off the real mozz cheese and eating just the bread and tomatoe sauce at one point. I took some bites of my cheese slice prior to the fake cheese incident and the pizza was just okay. gravy was bland. the crust was so crunchy. no flop whatsoever. cheese was super rubbery. Honestly, i dont think the pizza is as good as it used to be and the whole fake cheese on the tables really turned me off. $6 for a HUGE cheese slice will fill ya up, but id rather pay about the same for better a better quality, typical size slice. still cash only.

Dominique S.

Yelp
Benny's still remains a legend. The size does not diminish the quality but any means. Perfect sauce with the perfect stretch to the cheese. Stay golden Benny.

Andrew T.

Yelp
Paid $4.50 for a massive slice of cheese pizza (I believe it's from the 32" pie). I've been coming here since I was probably about 4-5 years old and always love coming back. Having been away from the NJ/NY area for about 10 years, coming back to this old jaunt just reminds me how pizza outside this area can't even compete. Seems like they also have a large slice and large beer combo that I'll be trying the next time I'm in town!

Marc M.

Yelp
I'm going to be very blunt. Ordered for the second time from them, and the inconsistency is insane. Sandwich was good just like the first time, mozz sticks were cold, and the pizza was stale. The pizza def sat around for hours before they got our order and decided to throw it in the oven snd send it to us. I can't tell you how dissatisfied and disappointed I am with this spot. They did so well the first time we ordered from them, but honestly there was no argument with what we just ate as to how long that pizza sat around for before coming to us. Unfortunately this will be the last time we order from them, and I'll go back to the old school spots in north Bergen before I think about some crap pizza from Hoboken.

Liz R.

Yelp
One of our favorite family Sunday dinner spots. Best pizza in New Jersey! And chicken wings! Come

Carla W.

Yelp
3 colleges and I went here for pizza one night. An authentic pizza resturant with table seating in the back. The 4 of us split at pizza and left with pizza. Fun atmosphere. My glass of wine cost more then my share of the pizza Reccimend Benny's

Cindy B.

Yelp
My husband and I have been going to this restaurant for years. Just us or with our family. We just finished having our last meal there. My husband's food was not worth the 31 dollars we were charged. It was not fresh. Everything was cold. To top it off the waitress was so flaky and too busy having fun with the guys in the kitchen. She kept forgetting parts of our order. The only thing that was good was the beer. We may consider the pizza but not the restaurant in the back. Stay away.

Yanel S.

Yelp
Went to Benny Tudino's pizzeria after so many years... Well we'll to my surprise how things have changed... The Staff is unfriendly and don't even check on you at your table to see if you need anything. The " LARGEST" pizza slice has gotten a lot smaller..... There is no sign that says " No Credit / Debit so when I went to pay I was told CASH ONLY!!!!! Not everyone walks around with CASH!!!!!! Get it together !

Mark S.

Yelp
This was my first visit to Benny Tudino's. It was a Saturday at 11:30am. Slices seem to be limited to only cheese slices. They don't have full pies out for display. Whether they can add pepperoni to a slice, I don't know. I ordered two slices and noticed they were already busy fullfilling a very large order. I took a seat next to President Biden and ABC reporter Michelle Charlesworth (wall pictures.) I enjoyed my meal while watching and listening to FOX News. My two slices would equal four slices anywhere else. Three-fourths of the meal was manageable until I slowed it down.

Sara B.

Yelp
One slice at Benny Tudino's is the size of two regular slices at any other pizza shop. I am SO here for it. Quantity doesn't always mean better quality, but in this case it does. A plain cheese slice was super crispy and delicious with perfect sauce and cheese ratios. It was hard to finish one slice without toppings, so any with toppings would be a huge meal. My friends tried mushroom and onion and pepperoni and bacon and they both really enjoyed. They are cash only, so make sure to plan ahead. There is plenty of outdoor seating, and they also have a liquor license which I was surprised to see. You can order beer, wine, sangria, etc. Something else important to note - they are only offering sit-down service. I thought we'd be able to quickly order slices to go at a counter, but you'll actually need to sit on the patio and order with a server. Just worth noting if you are short on time! I can definitely see myself returning for a slice, hopefully sooner rather than later!

Katarina L.

Yelp
YUM. Places like Benny Tudino's are the reason I become such a big NJ pizza snob whenever I leave the state, (trying to work on it)!!! But how can I not when their slices are twice the size of my head and just really damn good? Stopped by for the first time the other day for a quick lunch and got a slice of onion and mushroom. I was a little nervous when I first saw it because the onions didn't look cooked enough but I was proved wrong immediately after my first bite. Perfectly crispy thin crust, delicious cheese, sauce packed with flavor and toppings definitely cooked just right. When I say the slice was big, I am not joking. I had a lot of trouble just finishing one but couldn't stop eating because it was so good. We sat outside because it was a beautiful day and in the shade, not too hot and got a table right away. Our waitress was super friendly and made some good suggestions for toppings. Little tip! They are cash only but right across the street from an ATM so no big stress. There are a ton of great pizza spots in Hoboken but I just found another favorite.

Ashley G.

Yelp
Yum yum yum. I'm not sure if it's the same size slice as it used to be but still a Benny Tudino's pizza!

Anthony S.

Yelp
Benny's is the best slice I have yet to have in Hoboken. The price to size ratio is on-point in addition to great flavor. The sauce had a mild sweetness and the pizza just hits the spot. A true classic that must be tried, and the size is worth the photo alone! I only have had the cheese slice, but I will be back to try more toppings. On the food alone, it's 5 stars. The service and ambiance at Benny's is your run of the mill counter slice order-style with some tables around. Although you can order full pies, other menu items, and call in to-go. However, the employees could benefit from a brief on friendliness, as they did not seem to be enjoying their roles listening to headphones, being short and not greeting customers, as well as the cashier telling me "card-only" despite there visually being a credit card machine. Overall with the people experience, it drags the rating down to a 4 star, but I hope to be back and have a more pleasant encounter with the staff.

Tank G.

Yelp
The is a nice pizza joint. There is metered street parking that may be challenging to find a spot. During this COVID time, they are offering carry out and patio dining on the sidewalk out front. I knew what I wanted before I even got there. Two of the largest slices of pizza that I have ever had. And yes, the slices were huge. I could barley eat one of them. So, they packed up the other slice for me and I had it for lunch the next day. You can order your slice fresh. I got one with sausage and pepperoni and the other with meatballs and sweet peppers. They lived up to the hype. They were tasty, flavorful, fresh, filling, huge, and delicious. They also have a kids menu and serve subs and Italian entries, amount many other items. The restaurant patio stays full during peak hours and they have a steady flow of customers in and out. Please be aware that this place is CASH only and does not take credit/debit cards. This place was very laid back and I throughly enjoyed my pizza.

Franco S.

Yelp
Legendary slices, awesome service. A must try when in Hoboken! Classic Jersey pizza joint

Kevin S.

Yelp
I want to like this place. I've ordered from here dozens of times. Pizza is well above average, but super inconsistent. Some days it's great, some days it comes super over done or feels like it's been sitting there all afternoon. What's finally turned me off for good is that for the second time they completely lost our order and food never showed, despite it saying it was out for delivery on the app (pizza was never made). Really frustrating. Both times it happened we called to check up on the order and either got wrong info or less than helpful service.

Liz P.

Yelp
Very annoying that this joint is CASH ONLY. To have a decent meal here costs at least $60+. Who the hell carries cash these days anymore?!?! Even street vendors take cc man. If you wanna keep cheating on your taxes, by all means. I sat outside and ordered $14 crispy calamari. It was good but definitely not worth $14 bucks Jfc. Also got a personal pie for $10 because I wanted a fresh pie all to myself and didn't wanna buy the $18 large pie. Then It would be carb overload. I didn't workout that day just to backtrack 4 days. All their entrees are ridiculously expensive. For that much, I'd rather go to a nice sit down italian place, not a dingy pizza parlor. Service was excellent though and we left her a more than 20% tip because she deserves it. That is if the establishment isn't taking 80% of it. Hmph.

Oscar S.

Yelp
My old time best pizza in New Jersey!! Haves the best tasting sauce that I've ever tasted. Big slices so one should be enough to control your hunger!

Lori C.

Yelp
I wanted to try this since it smells so good every time I walk by. Benny's pizza is pretty equivalent to NY pizza. My bf and I got the plain large slice which was bigger than a normal slice but think it's about the same as eating 2 slices. We were able to eat the whole thing ourselves haha. Think this is the one of the best pizzarias in the area.

Jia-Lian L.

Yelp
Pizza was very large and was 4.50 It tasted very good but I wish they had more sauce on it.

Kent C.

Yelp
I was walking through Hoboken New Jersey and was dying for some great pizza. I never knew anything about Benny Tudino's Pizzeria restaurant before walking past it and noticed he advertised the largest slice of pizza. There's seating on the inside as well as outside the restaurant and since it was hot during the summer, I decided to eat inside. I ordered a slice of pepperoni pizza and in about four or five minutes was taking my first bite. The pizza slice is huge and covered almost 2 paper plates. The pizza is thin crust, and my slice was perfectly cooked, crispy on the bottom and moist on the top. There was just the right amount of marinara sauce and how I like pepperoni, which is more than less on my slice. The pepperoni was spicy and flavorful , Cooked perfectly, just the right amount of crispness, and for my first day in New Jersey, this pizza was exactly what I was looking for. At six dollars for the slice of pepperoni pizza you certainly cannot go wrong! It took me several days to finish this post and during that time while in Manhattan I visited several other pizzerias and was very disappointed, not only how the pizza tasted compared to Benny's but the price being much higher. If you're in the area and looking for a great pizza, in my opinion the product and the price is the best in the area based on my experience.

Demi A.

Yelp
LOVE this pizza spot in Hoboken! The slices are HUGE! And can't beat the price! It's a great place to take friends and people not from Hoboken! Service is great and fast paced

Julia B.

Yelp
I'm no nyc style pizza expert, but I thought it was a pretty solid slice of pizza, size is great. The crust was a little doughy for my liking but a good piece of pizza nonetheless

Eric C.

Yelp
What a good pizzeria. When you hear about it, at first do you think that it's going to be kind of gimmicky on account of the famous large slices. But don't let that throw you off, the slices are big but they are perfect. It is cash only, so take that into account beforehand. The neighborhood is beautiful so go ahead and get yourself a slice, dig into it, and then stroll around.

Stefan H.

Yelp
While enjoying the Washington Street experience with a good friend, we stopped in to get a couple of slices of what my friend assured me was great pizza! Perhaps it is great pizza, but when you're served two undercooked and cold slices thrown in a box by someone who clearly doesn't care about the customer, it doesn't make for an enjoyable first experience! I'll give them one more try, because I think if the pizza is served hot and fully cooked, it's probably decent, if not actually good!

Tania B.

Yelp
GIANT PIZZA SLICES. This place is cash only, but TOTALLY WORTH IT. I would stick with the cheese slice but they have many toppings options.

Auggie L.

Yelp
Went for Dinner Food - 4/5. The pizza itself is pretty average. You'll find it tastes similar to most pizzerias but the size is what makes it stand out. The pizza holds itself pretty well for having such gigantic proportions which makes for easy chomping. Service - 4/5. They're quick, blunt and throw jokes as you would expect from a pizzeria. Value - 4/5. A slice here will cost $3.50 which is about a dollar more than average. I haven't done the math to see if the 40% increase in price results in 40% more pizza but the large slices here sure make you feel you are getting your money's worth! Great value but not full marks due to the average flavor. Parking - Street (Metered)

Keyri F.

Yelp
I'll start with the fact that I understand that's pets are not allowed, but my service dog is a working dog. They kept saying dogs are not allowed and asking for documentation. "Documentation is Not Required. A public accommodation provider cannot ask about the nature or extent of a person's disability and may not demand proof that the animal is certified." Under the ADA, I am not required to show any proof that my dog is a service animal. Her behavior shows enough. I didn't appreciate the hard time the man in the front was giving us. I would've sat outside. I just wanted pizza. I ordered a slice and the guy says cash only. Okay, I try the atm, the atm is broken. Like are you kidding me lol, what year are we in? Staff was incredibly rude, will never come here again and don't recommend wasting your time at this place.
