"Tucked into the little shopping center on Skillman at La Vista is Benny’s Bagels, locally owned and quietly baking some of the best New York-style bagels in Dallas. Grab a dozen bagels with cream cheese for $15, or order the Pacific Salmon sandwich served open face with cream cheese, capers, red onion and smoked salmon. The number of patrons allowed inside is limited in accordance with state guidelines, which means that there’s often a socially-distanced line out front." - Rachel Pinn

Benny’s is always a great place to start your morning. The staff is very friendly and the food is consistently excellent. My wife gets the big bird on a panini and a cinnamon sugar bagel toasted with strawberry cream cheese. My favorite thing about this place is the orange juice waiting for you in a block of ice at checkout!

Google
Benny’s is a Lakewood staple for delicious, large, and fresh bagels served by friendly people. They’re easily in the top two best Dallas bagel spots and somehow have remained affordable and kind amid the success. **Adding seating and a cozy atmosphere that invites guests to stay awhile would take Benny’s over the top to become the definitive #1 Bagel shop in Dallas. **Other bagel shops nearby should learn from Benny’s classy staff and quality product… I won’t name any names.

This is how you do breakfast! Their are lots of options around Dallas for a fast breakfast. Some have the best prices, others the most options, while some bring the best flavor. Bennys is the best combination of all these attributes, and delivers it with an excellent attitude and expedient service. Benny’s is my go-to for a breakfast sandwich, hands down. I’ve had Shug’s and they are more hype than they deserve, this is the underground champion. Pros: - incredibly friendly staff - fast service - generous portions - fresh flavors and fluffy texture - good presentation - paper packaging - broad flavor options Cons: - small space - limited parking

Went here for the first time today and Got the chicken salad on Onion bagel, delicious! I own a business around the corner and can't believe I never tried this place. That was a very delicious sandwich. Everything tasted fresh!

Google
Really odd bagel. Great service but the everything bagel is sesame, poppy seed, and some sunflower seeds? No garlic, onion, or salt on the bagel. Unfortunately made for a really bland bagel. Bacon, Egg, and Cheese was also unseasoned with very little bacon, just a lot of egg. On a positive note I could tell the bagel was fresh and they used cheddar cheese (I think) which I liked.

Google
Bagels are okay.. Mediocre the french dip bagel wasn’t that good. The breakfast bagel was okay but it is reasonably priced

Michelle Goldstein

Google
My favorite bagels in all of Dallas, even with all the fancy new bagel places. If you fancy a chewy bagel, Benny's is your place with the same fancy schmeres you will find elsewhere. Staff has been there for decades, not fill-ins.

Google
First time in. Got the Early and healthy risers on plain bagels since they had breakfast all day. Wasn't expecting to be all tossed in the scrambled eggs but that isn't necessarily a bad thing! It was pretty good still. I would recommend adding some sort of cream cheese to it if you order those breakfast sammies. :) staff friendly :)

Yelp
Tuna Salad Sandwich, Sausage Egg Cheese Bagel Super solid brunch/lunch choice. Tuna salad sandwich was great. The sausage egg cheese fell flat for me, not that flavorful. Yummy bagels

Fatima C.

Yelp
The service is good! It's a small shop in a strip mall. They offer bagels ofc, bacon egg and cheese, and sandwiches as well. I didn't have problem parking at the location on a Saturday afternoon which was great. I've tried a popular bagel shop in the Dallas area that I find completely overpriced. Here I paid $6 and change for an asiago bagel (w/ nothing on it) and an everything bagel toasted with cream cheese. Reasonable for Dallas imo. I will preface by saying I'm from New York and know a thing about bagels lol. I was disappointed with the everything bagel. I've never had a bagel with anise seeds, and it's one of those things that makes me really nauseous. It was on the dry side and not much cream cheese. I'm hoping the asiago bagel I have at home the next day will be better. I still will visit the local shop and give them another try!

Franki H.

Yelp
I ordered a dozen of assorted bagels. I got a mix of sweet and savory which I appreciated. I will definitely be ordering more cinnamon sugar, honey wheat and blueberry bagels when I go back. The onion bagel was a little too much for me. I also got a tub of original cream cheese; it was soft and spreadable. The man behind the counter had a great personality and loved his job.

Leslie F.

Yelp
Great flavor if you don't mind paying a whopping $9 for the world's smallest bagel...This is the size of junior burger (I have tiny hands mind you)

King G.

Yelp
Great service ! Food great asked for all there names Johnny suzie chris Mario 10/10 would definitely recommend johnny has outstanding service and so do all the rest !

Kristi K.

Yelp
No. Just no. Anyone who has ever had a real bagel, New York or Montreal style will know this is NOT a bagel. I ordered a toasted everything with cream cheese. Not only was the texture of the bagel bad like dried out - the everything flavor was just caraway seeds (so it tasted like rye), no onion, sesame, garlic - just rye flavor. And a toasted bagel SHOULD be warm. And the cream cheese melty. Nope. I am visiting Dallas but I am so sorry this is what they pass off as bagels here.

Rachel R.

Yelp
Great hours, good food for delivery or on the go! If I had to pick my favorite breakfast bagel, I would put Shugs in 1st place but if you want to beat the line, this is a great spot to run in for a breakfast sandwich, bagel, burrito, or croissant. My favorite duo is the veggie sandwich on croissant with sausage, avocado, and extra cream cheese spread (savory options like chive/onion or jalapeño)!

Meagan R.

Yelp
my happy place:) best bagel in dallas hands down! love supporting family owned businesses in my hometown.

Natalie S.

Yelp
Favorite bagel spot in Dallas! So fresh, so delicious. Staff is so welcoming, and definitely give off a family oriented vibe. My family and I adore coming here on weekends.

Kaitlin M.

Yelp
Great service! Extremely nice and fast! If you love cream cheese you'll love this place because they load their bagels up. Prices were pretty fair.

Aiden H.

Yelp
Best bagels in Dallas! This is my go-to every weekend and they never fail me. The workers are super friendly and have been very consistent

Christi W.

Yelp
My favorite grab and go breakfast in East Dallas on the weekend! Service is good and the staff is friendly. On weekends, there is typically a line that takes about 15-30 mins to get through, so I recommend ordering online if you know what you want already.

Laura P.

Yelp
Lox and Bagel was my order, it was so good! These bagels were phenomenal, my Jewish grandmother loved them, and it was a really nice breakfast with her! I would absolutely get a Benny's Bagels again. I called ahead to order, and my order was ready to go, all I had to do was pay!

Linda D.

Yelp
The bagels are huge and delicious! They freeze very well. The staff is very helpful and customer-oriented.Sandwiches are delicious and they are flavorful and spreads are extremely tasty. This is a Kosher dairy restaurant. It's a pleasure to visit! Linda

Michael S.

Yelp
Completely unreliable. They open at random times after their posted hours, are often out of basic menu items, and blast noise inside their restaurant. Absolutely terrible management. As I write this, it is 6:40 AM, I'm sitting outside of their restaurant and looking at their sign that says they open at 6:30, and everything is completely dark and locked up.

Max L.

Yelp
Nice, easy going breakfast bagel shop. No frills, just a down to earth neighborhood bagel spot without all the basic Dallas folks. Decent coffee if your looking for something quick and affordable. Great place to keep in your back pocket.

Ravin W.

Yelp
Tuna salad was great! The everything bagel was tasty but not as flavorful like normal everything bagels. The bagels are tuff which makes the sandwich a little different to enjoy but overall 3/4

Randy k.

Yelp
I've lived in the area for 4 years, so I thought I'd give it a try. I got the sausage, egg, and cheese on an everything bagel. It was just OK... nothing to write home about. Was hoping for more.

Shari S.

Yelp
A New Yorker visiting from Florida and I am a little shocked at all the great reviews. First of all do only blind people frequent this place? Because it was not the cleanest. It was dirty and old inside not super appetizing. No salt bagels?? Are you kidding me? Their everything bagel was more of a poppy seed bagel . Everything includes salt, no one told them. The Turkey bagel had 2 thin slices of dried out Turkey and the pacific salmon had brown pieces. The bagels were fresh but small. Overall very disappointing and I am being generous with 2 stars.

diana h.

Yelp
Don't be fooled by the small interior, this bagel shop slaps. The bagels are incredibly delicious as are the assortment of flavored cream cheeses. I had the Asiago cheese bagel with jalapeño cream cheese and cranberry oat with cinnamon hazelnut cream cheese, and both were amazing. Service was incredibly quick, and if your bagel of choice looks like it is out of stock, ask because they likely have freshly made ones coming out. No seating, but good for to-go orders.

Jennifer V.

Yelp
Went yesterday afternoon, restroom had no toilet paper and the soap was 1/2 water. The drink fountain was out broken. Ordered a sandwich with chicken. Took a small piece of chicken out of the sandwich to see how it tasted! No way. Threw away sandwich and went over to Chips hamburgers.

Brandon R.

Yelp
Very impressed by the quality of the bagels and cream cheese. Ordered the Salmon smear and ham melt open face on everything bagels. Never tried a salmon bagel before but it was delightful. The ham melt also had ranch which was new right me, but very good. Highly recommend both. The service was nice and friendly and they were quick with my order. Favorite bagel spot so far in Dallas.

Semhar M.

Yelp
Dallas, if you're looking for a local bagel shop that looks like it's straight from NYC, you've found it. We read online that Benny's would stay open for carry out during COVID-19, and our goals lately have been to support local businesses to keep them from having to shut down. SO glad we came here! Benny's offered a huge selection of bagels, paninis, muffins, danishes, cookies and wraps. My husband and I both got the everything bagel- I got bacon, egg & cheese & sausage for him. Both were delicious! The sausage had more flavor in my opinion. We also ordered a variety half dozen bagels with 3 kinds of cream cheese: jalapeño, almond & honey apricot, and onion & chive. Oh and everything is decently priced. Super grateful to have found this place in Lakewood. Definitely going back!

Elaine M.

Yelp
This place is da bomb. I'm from NY, like born and raised. I know a good bagel. This place has it. This place is far from me. I would drive down here again for the bagels, bagel sandwiches, spreads. Even though the parking isn't exactly easy and it's such a small place we sat in there squeezed like sardines. The bagels here are so worth it.

Sue W.

Yelp
Bennys is always soooo solid. Their bagels are super fluffy and the cream cheese (the veggie, specifically) is to die for.

Jordan J.

Yelp
I ordered a Salmon & lox on a croissant with capers & tomato, no onions. It was so good. Hit the spot.

Kaylee C.

Yelp
Ive ordered twice from here. The bagels are pretty good, a lil hard but still tasty. They put the perfect amount of cream cheese and have a variety of flavors!

Nahiyan K.

Yelp
Great bagels with the right amount of schmear every time. They have tons of flavors of cream cheese that they mix, comparable and superior to big bagel chains you would otherwise visit in Dallas. The shop has been around since as far back as I can remember and the people running it are always super friendly. It seems like bagels are gaining some serious popularity in Dallas nowadays but rest assured, Benny's will always reign supreme.

Sarah F.

Yelp
Babbyyyyyyy I love me some Benny's. I got a jalapeño cheddar bagel with cream cheese shmear, turkey, lettuce, sprouts, tomatoes, egg and cheddar!!! Luuuurrvvveeedddddd every bite! I have been several times and I grow more impressed every visit.

Lauren S.

Yelp
If I could leave a 0 star review I would. Worst bagel I've ever received. Dense and gross. Not even edible.

Diana V.

Yelp
I've been meaning to try this place forever and it did not disappoint! Food: I got the early riser on a multigrain bagel (eggs, ham, cheese, bell peppers). As a regular at Einstein's, this sandwich is so much better. The bagels don't have that weird, plastic texture than Einstein's can have. They are very soft and you can tell the difference in quality, without sacrificing too much on price. Service: glad to support a local place! The people at the counter were very nice. Overall I'll probably start coming here instead of Einstein's for my egg and cheese bagel fix.

Ariel B.

Yelp
We ordered two breakfast sandwiches: the salmon, egg & shmear as well as the bacon & egg (added shmear and avocado). We enjoyed them at the trinity overlook and it made the perfect sunday morning! I have never ordered salmon for breakfast and it was an amazing breakfast sandwich. I had it with onion shmear on an everything bagel and the flavors were perfect, not super fishy, just right. The bacon and egg sandwich was also perfect with the added avocado and shmear. We both had half of each and loved both! The line was out the door and I was slightly regretting not ordering ahead but it went by quicker than I expected and once you're ordering, it's very fast!

Aradhna A.

Yelp
A few people told me great things about this place. That it had new YORK style bagels even someone told me. Maybe I'm just a pretentious New Yorker but these don't even come close to New York bagels. Expectations were too high for me. My midwestern friend was also not impressed. Don't get me wrong. They were decent. I am a pretentious New Yorker after all. However, 3 stars is all I can give. Also the coffee tasted like it was left out in the sun all day and the plastic had melted into it. :( Update: cream cheese is very good. We bought bagels from elsewhere and used the cream cheese. Incredible. Still 3 stars because bagels are the point at a bagel place.

JoJo S.

Yelp
I love how quick and friendly everyone is at Benny's. I have been there to get breakfast probably around 50 times over the last 2 years and I'm never disappointed. There prices are also more than fair. I always get the early riser bagel which always taste fresh and it costs around $6. Highly recommended Bennys

Maddie D.

Yelp
I mean the best bagels in Dallas. They give you them warm and the have this amazing strawberry cream cheese. Definitely recommend!!!!

Rach S.

Yelp
I have been missing east coast bagels for 3 years and this is the closest thing to finding them in Texas. Granted, they aren't exactly the same, a little softer and less crunchy outside, but the soft and chewy inside is delicious. My everything bagel was super well doused with seeds and salt, good cream cheese. He just got a plain bagel with plain cream cheese but still a solid bagel. I'm so happy these delicious beauties exist. The guys behind the counter are super nice andddd they don't layer an inch of cream cheese which I'm used to wiping off. I wish I didn't eat mine before I took a picture. Highly recommend for a food filled day if you don't live close and want an adventure (and if you do live close, go immediately). Grab a bagel, head to highland park and see the beautiful homes and lay a blanket by the lakeside river. Then go eat the rest of Dallas. Food crawl! Start here!

Laura D.

Yelp
Grilled chicken club sandwich was prob the worst sandwich I've had in my life. Maybe other things on the menu are good but it was made with low quality chicken and a tiny bagel.

John R.

Yelp
Staff was extremely welcoming and nice , bagels were not great and eggs tasted as if they were from the free breakfast that you get at hotels that have free breakfasts, I was hoping for more but it didn't follow through on the end product

Lauren S.

Yelp
Great bagels, kind staff, unique options. Highly recommend the Lox, you will not be disappointed!

Fox E.

Yelp
Came here to watch the Jets play. Turns out they had the Cowboys on. What the actual crap? What was Elton John singing about then? Should have called it "Benny And The Cowboys." What to get: Smoked Salmon Bagel What not to get: Mocked Salmon Bagel. Because no Salmon likes to get mocked Benny may not be a Jet fan as advertised... but his bagel shop is pretty good. The everything bagel isn't amazing, and neither are the jalapeno or onion cream cheeses. Not bad though. However, the salmon that they put on sandwich is absolutely delicious. The prices are shocking because they are roughly twice what you would pay for the same thing in New York - which would be a bigger portion too. I mean twice the size. Even down in Houston this stuff is a lot cheaper at a much better place (Hot Bagel Shop) which is also in the rich, trendy area. But still. No biggie. It's just money. Considering we're in Dallas and that it's pretty good, I would still come back here again if I wanted a bagel in Dallas. My girl loves this stuff and is the reason we came here, and she really liked it. I think she'd even give it a 5. Service was pretty nice, and he was fairly cool about the fact that I wanted an untoasted bagel and forgot to tell him that earlier. I guess they automatically toast the bagels around here. That's the loss of the locals. That would be a bit of a cardinal sin in New York. So in summary, prices are shocking but products are good and I like this place. Especially the dog mascot that they have. It would be ruff if they got rid of the dog. I hope they paws and reconsider before they ever go that fur.

Elizabeth L.

Yelp
Been here a few times. Fresh ingredients, great taste. If I'm ever craving a bagel & lox, this place is my go-to.

Mike K.

Yelp
Great place for bagels and breakfast! We enjoyed a breakfast wrap and bagel sandwich with veggie egg white. Came delivered hot and fresh. The bagel had lots of yummy grains and the egg had fresh chopped up veggies. This is my first experience with Benny's and I'm super picky when it comes to bagels but really enjoyed the bagel sandwich. I really want to go back and try more items like bagels and lox along with more of their breakfast items.

Jodi H.

Yelp
SCHMEAR all day errday. Breakfast bagels are literally served 24/7. Parking is a beez, but these bagels are bomb. I knew I had to get their breakfast bagels. I wasn't sure what they were known for, but you can never go wrong with a breakfast bagel. Schmear was the name of the game, and I honestly had no idea what was in it. I was expecting some sort of jacked-up cream cheese, and I was right! I enjoyed a salmon schmear on a jalapeno cheddar bagel. The bagels were so tender and fresh. That's the way to do it! I was very pleased with my bagel. They also had fresh-squeezed OJ, other beverages, and other items like sandwiches for sale. I liked that I could watch my order being made at the same time as the bagel maestro in the back was laying out the bagels to broil in the oven. They have a single-room restroom which was clean, but there was water dripping through from the ceiling. I was getting dripped on while I was using the restroom and while washing my hand. I had no idea whether or not the water was clean or where it was coming from, so that was a bummer. You can tell a lot about a food spot from the way they take care of the restrooms. Service was kind--the sweet guys who take your order and build your bagels work as fast as they can. It took me a while to get my order and pay at the cashier because the person in front of me had a mix-up with their order. That's alright though because I was in no rush. There isn't a lot of seating indoors, but that's all that they have since there is nothing outdoors. It's a little strip plaza with a lot of other stores, so it seems like most people ordered to-go to enjoy elsewhere.

Micah P.

Yelp
Delivered a salmon burrito when I ordered a salmon bagel. The picture on DoorDash said "salmon roll" and clearly pictured a bagel, but what was delivered was a salmon burrito. Just an entirely different dish than was pictured.

Amberlee B.

Yelp
If you want a pretty close to NY Authentic bagel then Benny's is the place to go! Tons of bagel choices, toasted or not, and schmeared with your desired cream cheese or made in to a delicious sandwich. Being as it was my first time here I opted for the everything bagel and their homemade "lite" plain cream cheese schmear. I was NOT disappointed! The bagel was soft and was so much "everything" coating on it that my taste buds were extremely happy! There was not a lack of cream cheese either. Evenly schmeared between both halves of my perfectly toasted bagel! There were so many flavor combos that I wanted more than one- so that means ... I'll be back. My only criticism was the bathroom- the toilet paper roll was on the ground (yuck) and the soap was a Softsoap dispenser watered down. Minor things but they still aid in the overall review of Benny's!

Froe J.

Yelp
I love this place they sell me bagels. I love the pacific salmon and their house coffee is delish!

Jessica K.

Yelp
Came here with the hope that it would compare to NY bagels and while I don't think the bagels were as good as NY bagels, they were good enough. I got an everything bagel with lox and cream cheese. The lox were not the best lox I've had either as they didn't seem super fresh. The bagel had a more crunchy consistency than a soft one. As a New Yorker, I'm a tough critic in general, but I really don't think these were as good as New York bagels however, they are probably good enough for bagels in Dallas.

Diana K.

Yelp
As an original NYC-er, I get so mad when people in Dallas say there's a pizzeria or bagel shop that tastes like/or is as good as NYC bagels and pizzas. (They're not!!) OK, so the good: - I ordered a few bagels from Benny's via Uber Eats, and even though I live six miles away, the bagels came piping hot. I didn't expect that, and that was a very pleasant surprise. - Bagels taste good, and for sure beat anything you're going to buy at a Panera or in the store. (Still, these are not NYC bagels.) - Even stored a few days later, the extra bagels that we ordered tasted fine. The eh: - Price point. Why are they charging NYC prices for bagels that are 60% of the size?? NYC bagels are big, fat, and fluffy. Benny's bagels looked almost like mini bagels to me. (Maybe this is better for my waist line though.) - Veggie cream cheese. This didn't taste like the veggie cream cheese from NYC or NJ. It wasn't bad, but it just tasted... different. It tasted almost more like my vegan cream cheeses. (Maybe this means Benny's cream cheese is healthier than regular veggie cream cheese? Idk.) If I'm craving a bagel, this will hit the spot. If I'm REALLY craving a nice fat big NYC bagel, this just won't do.

Jamie-min T.

Yelp
very very fast and friendly service. great bagels. thanks for being a dallas staple!! you

Jordan B.

Yelp
Oh Benny's! This place was amazing. We ordered the everything bagel + Salmon, Egg & Schmear (2 eggs, Norwegian smoked salmon and cream cheese). You can certainly tell the difference when everything is made from scratch. So delish. Waited about 7-10 minutes outside, but it was no problem. It's a small shop inside for standing room only, so makes sense and felt safe with everything going on.
