Benoit

"The Tokyo outpost of Benoit, which was founded in Paris in 1912. The cuisine of this bistro that co-stars French and Japanese influences is overseen by Alain Ducasse. The menu is prix fixe, but diners can choose items to their liking. Dishes bequeathed by the Paris flagship, such as oven-baked escargot and terrine, stand alongside regional fare made with ingredients from across Japan. Antique-accented décor and attentive service convey an unmistakeably French esprit." - Michelin Inspector

The lunch set is amazing value for what they offer. Traditional French cooking infuses with quality ingredients and impeccable service. The dining space is spacious and has amazing view of Aoyama Dori and Shibuya. Out waiters are super attentive and discreet. Overall a very pleasant dining experience. Business diners Be forewarned, most diners are ladies do lunch.

Lunch set is worth it but not mind blowing. The steak was well done instead of medium rare which is surprising (I asked for medium rare). Will visit again to try the rest of the menu.

If you have not tried Benoit’s, drop what you are doing and go. The lunch set was fabulous—delicious and worth the price, plus an incredible wine selection!!! Oh, and just so I don’t forget, the staff is friendly and helpful; they offered solid advice on what to try and what to avoid. A+ experience and I look forward to future meals.

Flawless lunch -great food, service and ambience. I especially loved the squid but overall the quality was very high. The older waiter with round glasses were tremendously accommodating and highly knowledgeable. Highly recommended.

Food was amazing. Atmosphere is superb, staff are friendly, location is at the heart of shibuya. Have to take a point off because the staff has serve me the wrong drinks and forgot to serve me water. I need to ask two different waiters to get my water. Other than small hiccup, this is one of the best meal I have for this Tokyo trip.

What a wonderful dinner! :) For starters, had a wild Kyoto boar terrine, a little bit similar to liver pate scent which was delicious. had very nice gibier ”Ezo (Hokkaido)” venison roast with seasonal vegetables - the main dish. Served by Staub pot. Very tender and not greasy at all. Sometimes French cuisine tend to change the food itself taste completely....(Well, just in my opinion though), but this restaurant was not one of those kinds. All food looked fancy and also can taste each material/ingredient. Very Good. For dessert, ordered Mont Blanc. Amazingly good. It was served by a big round glass with kinda sorbet Yuzu. Not too sweet and chestnuts taste reminded me the autumn season. It was a French cuisine week - they had a good deal. So yes still it's a high-grade dinner but a little bit reasonable price for us. There were multiple choices for the starter, the main, and the desert. It was hard to choose! Especially the atmosphere was superb. The decoration was great but also appreciated the stuff. They were very nice, not snobby at all in spite of such a high-grade French restaurant. P.S. Oh...one more thing, the powder room was really ice.

Yelp
I've had Benoit's Tokyo outpost on my list for several years and was happy to get a reservation on this trip. When you walk upstairs into the dining area, it feels like a Parisian bistro, which is I think what they are going for. The dining room is well-lit and features strong European design inside, including everything from the art to the crown molding. The gentleman who greeted me at the door confirmed my seafood allergy, and I appreciated the attention to detail. They started me off with an airy cheesy bread, which was quite lovely. There was also a heartier wheat bread with butter, which was fine. There are several set menu options that vary based on how many appetizers/entrees you would like to order. I had a green salad as my appetizer (sans bacon). It was fairly standard but had a strong shallot flavor. Also comes with liver, which is an interesting textural addition, although I am not a big liver person. My entree was the duck with beets. The mandarin-beet blend, which they used as a tapenade, was a great addition to the dish! What a unique flavor combination. I wrapped things up with the mille-feuille with honey and chestnut flour (I didn't even know chestnut flower was a thing) and it was WONDERFUL. I would absolutely get these regularly. My server was friendly and attentive, kindly explaining the details of each dish. I very much enjoyed my experience at Benoit and look forward to visiting the original location in Paris!

Yelp
I feel bad giving a low rating, because I think they were understaffed the afternoon we went - but our experience was unfortunately mediocre. I ordered the French onion soup, steak and strawberry dessert. The soup was nothing to write home about. The steak (while soft) left something to be desired in the flavor. The fries were a little sweet, and could've been crispier. Strawberries were in season and super sweet, but I've had better during the same trip in Tokyo. While the service was attentive in the beginning, after we ordered, nobody checked on us again. Maybe it was our mistake given the cuisine, but it took over 2 hours for us to be served 3 courses. While the food was fine, constantly being ignored by our server to the point where the manager had to step in multiple times was weird. Our dishes weren't taken away for 30 minutes after we were clearly done, and even then the dessert didn't come out for another 30 minutes later. It also wasn't just our table or a language barrier - the ladies behind us were literally constantly checking their watches and I can speak Japanese. Overall, the good was good, but the service left a lot to be desired. I hope we just caught them on a bad day!

Yelp
They devotes all their energy to showing guests hospitality. Good, Drink ... wonderful. Chef takes care all details and All the flavors of the ingredients are in perfect harmony. All servers learn all dishes details and explained them all. My Kitahira is the best server I've ever met before.

Yelp
Benoit Tokyo is an outpost of the Paris restaurant, with another location is New York. I heard the restaurant was just barely making it, until Alain Ducasse took over the restaurant. It is now a one star Michelin restaurant. The restaurant sits in the La Porte Aoyama high rise building with no real obvious sign. It is easy to walk right past the building, which I did. The immediate surrounding area has a distinct European feel. In fact, there is a Pierre Herme location on the first floor so if you see the famous macaron/patisserie shop you are in the right spot. The interior of the restaurant is reminiscent of a French country home. It is warmly decorated but nothing over the top bling. The meal started out with some light as air cheese puffs. The puffs had a surprisingly strong cheese flavor. Things were off to a great start. Next, some sturdy wheat bread was brought out. The crust was very crunchy, while the interior had a nice chew to it. The Salade Benoit was a nice mix of greens with perfectly cooked foie gras, pork belly and a terrine. The mushrooms added another layer of earthiness. The salad was not overdressed. Is it heresy to say there may have been too much meat to pair with such a tiny salad? Next the Coquillettes was like a very upscale version of mac and cheese. Cavatappi, or corkscrew, pasta was mixed with a rich cream sauce. Bits of ham, flecks of black truffle and tiny cubes of cheese joined the party. The pasta was light, yet super rich at the same time. The pasta was a perfect al dente with a nice chew to it. The Pan Seared Scallops were nicely seared giving the already sweet mollusk, a candy coating. The scallops were only seared on one side however, and was served medium rare. The asparagus added a nice crunch and slight bitterness to the dish. The Benoit Chocolat/Caramel finished off the dish. The rich, dark chocolate "cigar" was paired with salted caramel, and milk ice cream. The Benoit was like a very soft "Rolo" on a cookie base. The ice cream had a bold milk flavor. The cappuccino was served with a couple of madeleines which was a perfect way to end the meal. For a Michelin starred restaurant, Benoit is rather budget friendly. If going at lunch, you have the option of ordering from a prix fixe menu of sorts, or you can order a la carte. The service was very professional and friendly. The quality of food is top notch with excellent cooking.

Yelp
Pretty good for this price range! Only 9100 yen for 1 appetizer and 2 main course(plus dessert and tea or coffee). Very reasonable to good for the price=quality. Of course the servers were nice and I especially enjoyed the conversation(In Japanese) with the Maitre-D. He is a cool guy. We amazed the scallop appetizer. We disappointed the truffle didn't have much flavor...(they had truffle fair) According to what I ordered, 1 dish was amazing(scallop), 1 dish was good, 1 dish was so-so. Interior decorated very nicely(girls must love! I especially loved the drapes) and lady's room is very pretty!

Yelp
A very nice location with equally trained staff. The meal was quite good and of good portion size. We were lucky that Sunday was half price bottle of wine night with a variety of French selections. Although a few selections were not available, the others made up for it. The price is not cheap but it is on par for the service and quality. The 10th floor location was nicely done.

Yelp
Beautiful location bathed in afternoon sunlight, salmon and pork cheeks were delicious. Would go back again
