Danny Meyer’s Enlightened Hospitality Invests in Bentobox | Eater NY

"I observed that Bentobox is a restaurant website designer that Union Square Hospitality Group already uses; the platform also handles gift cards, catering, and event tickets, which Mark Leavitt describes as “high-margin revenue opportunities,” and Enlightened Hospitality Investments joined as a minority partner (investment size undisclosed)." - Stefanie Tuder

I’ve visited many Japanese restaurants, but none compare to Bento Box. On my last visit, I ordered the salmon sashimi, beef gyoza, and their signature dynamite roll. The sashimi was some of the freshest fish I’ve ever had; delicate, and full of flavor. The beef gyoza had the perfect crunch with a savory filling, making it an excellent follow-up. But the star of the meal was the dynamite roll. Packed with flavor and impressively large, it absolutely deserves its place among their special maki rolls. The service here is just as outstanding as the food. Every staff member is warm, friendly, and clearly hardworking. Bento Box has become my go-to spot, and I always recommend it to friends and family. Without hesitation, this is a 10/10 dining experience.

Food prices are pretty good, really surprised by the quality and freshness of the food 10/10. I ordered a chicken teriyaki bento box. Service was also good, attentive and polite. I will definitely dine again. Also tempura was fried fresh without the batter being too oily or heavy.

If you're around Burlington and looking for a decent Japanese or Korean meal, Bento Box is an okay option. The food is pretty standard—nothing fancy, but it gets the job done if you're craving sushi, bento, or a Korean food combo. The portions are fair, and the prices aren’t too bad for what you get. I tried the Tempura, Sashimi and Sushi Combo, and Bibimbap. While it wasn’t super memorable, it was quite tasty enough. The sushi is fresh, though not exceptional, and the presentation is simple and price is reasonable. The place itself has a casual vibe, more like a quick bite than a dining experience. The service was fine and friendly. Overall, it’s not the kind of spot you go out of your way for, but if you're in the area and want something easy and Korean or Japanese-inspired, it’ll do. Just keep your expectations moderate, and you’ll probably leave satisfied.

I hadn’t been back so this place since I was a little girl, and it was even better than I remembered. The food was phenomenal (we had beef gyozas, the black dragon roll and Tokyo rolls) and came out quick, the service was friendly and efficient, and the atmosphere is tranquil and cozy. Definitely recommend to everyone and anyone!

Google
I was really impresses what a good chef this place has. The presentation and taste of the food is extraordinary. Really worthy and abundant for the price. It was a very relaxing atmosphere and with a very kind service. Very recommended 😍.

Google
The food at Bento Box is amazing. If you enjoy sushi but have only had it from the mall or an all you can eat, I urge you to try this place. Eating sushi this good was a life changing experience. The unagi bowl (left) was also fantastic. I can't wait to visit this place again to experience more of what they offer.

Google
The best sushi spot in Burlington by far. Always has the best service, very clean, and the food is fresh and delicious. We’ve been eating here for years and have never been disappointed. Highly recommend the soon tofu if you like spicy seafood soups, or any of their maki rolls are great. Grace and Jackie are wonderful!

The food is great with generous portions, and the service is very friendly!

Yelp
We love this place. The food here is so fresh and delicious. We had the Gyoza soup, which has a lovely broth, vegetables and dumplings and we had vegetable rolls. The servers are warm and friendly and our food came quickly.

Yelp
People saying it's the best of the best but have only put 3 star this is a 5 star!!! place best rolls I have ever had and I go to Ki in Toronto. Yeah they beat their $60 rolls at the cost of 20 or so. Don't miss out go now !

Yelp
I honestly don't know if I went to the same restaurant as I did last year... I don't know if they revamped or if I just wasn't paying attention but 100% improvement. I remembered hating the spicy salmon roll last time but I've been back twice in the past 2 weeks for this specifically. I was craving ramen and with the limited possibilities I came back to Bentobox remembering their udon wasn't too bad last time. I loved the interior of the restaurant; how clean and homey it was. The booths are so welcomed for some privacy. The first time I went I ordered beef ramen and spicy crunchy salmon roll. Ramen was on point. The noodles were al-dente and the miso broth can match bigger chains in Toronto. The beef was plentiful and thick. Will definitely order this when the weather gets a little cooler. The spicy salmon roll both times were great. Huge chunks of fish and the spicy sauce had a nice kick (more sriracha than mayo). However, their tempura bits were not crunchy. They were somewhat hard and soggy. The hotpot bulgogi came out in a huge set. Definitely worth the $14. It had 3-set side dish (bahn chan), salad, and cucumber roll. The bulgogi hotpot was delicious. Rich in flavor and filled with generous chunks of mushrooms and beef. The rice was soggy but maybe it's because I'm not used to their rice. I'll be back sometime this week or next to either eat their ramen or udon. Tip: The sushi is somewhat expensive ($7.50 for the spicy salmon roll) but great quality and great service.

Yelp
We were craving for sushi while we were in Waterdown. Since we were so hungry I took upon Yelp to refer me to a decent sushi place nearby. Bentobox was promising and was reasonable close. It was Saturday noon and the restaurant was empty upon our arrival. Since it had some pretty decent reviews we decided to give it a try. We were seated at the back of the restaurant which was out of view from where all the employees were. The waitress came to take our order after several minutes but we weren't ready. Once we were however, she never came back to check up on us and I had to walk to the front to get her attention. We ordered 3 rolls which consisted of spicy salmon, tuna, and a special image roll. The appearance and presentation was overwhelming and it seemed like no effort was put into plating. The sushi itself was something I could compare to supermarket quality. After spending close to $40 and not feeling full, we really couldn't find anything positive to give this review higher than 1 star!

Yelp
Very yummy a la carte sushi. I will definitely go back. The staff were absolutely lovely. We felt taken care of from start to finish.

Yelp
I came to Bentobox for dinner with my babies. Saw some decent reviews and it was close to where we were. Got there and it was empty since it was around 5:30pm pretty early for the dinner rush. I guess there was a lot of delivery and takeouts because no one came to bring us to a table so we just sat down on our own. Took them 10 mins to get us menus. When it finally came and we go our order put in it took us 10 mins to get our appetizers. We ordered the edamame and tempura shrimps with vegetables. Then when we were done it took another 30 mins for our mains to arrive. We ordered the udon noble soup with chicken for my daughters to share and I got the chicken yakisoba. The soup was good portion size. However the fried udon noodle yakisoba with chicken portion was so small. It was a quarter of the bowl it came in and there was literally a few pieces of chicken for $14! Not worth it. But it taste good. I took 2 stars off for service being slow and the food portion are so small for the price. I'm on the fence as to if I would come back. Maybe I'll try the other items.

Yelp
This hidden gem in Burlington has the BEST sushi, hands down! Always fresh and delicious! My husband and I used to go to AYCE places all the time because.. well..it's 'all you can eat' ! But after eating here, there's just no going back. The quality here is superb, and I guarantee you, you find anything as high-quality in this price range. Cailib and Eunmi (sorry if the spelling is off), are fantastic people and will take care of you during your whole dining experience. Cailib is such a talented sushi 'artist', he puts his own creative flair on each piece of sushi, you can taste the passion he has for his work! I recommend this place to any sushi lover.. you won't be disappointed! There are other items on the menu for those who don't like sushi, but the sushi is best thing from this little gem.

Yelp
I've purchased bento boxes from here before and they used to be amazing! Everything has changed. The tempura pieces are miniature (over half the size that they used to be & you get less); you only get 4 tiny pieces of a California roll (used to get regular sized ones); and the salad dressing is no longer a sweet dressing but now it's pickled ginger-based. I'm really disappointed because I used to really enjoy the bento boxes they offer but the value is no longer there. Still really friendly family running the place but probably won't bother with the drive over again.

Yelp
Oh man! I'm the first to review this place!? Wow it definitely deserves an applaud. I go in twice a week (usually Tuesdays and Thursdays) to get either the California Roll ($5.99) or Rainbow Roll ($9.99). I know you're thinking that's cheap! and it is, but this is no grocery store style sushi. DAYUM! It's so good I can't say enough great things about it. Although I have not tried a wide array of items on the menu - the ones I have tried have always left me extremely happy. I am always greeted like a family member (as the Japanese tend to be very customer service/experience oriented) by the owner, I wish I knew her name as she is a very sweet lady, with a large smile. She promptly takes my order and either rolls the sushi herself or has the sushi chef, Andy, roll it up. AND FAST! Either of them can roll a Cali faster than Tommy Chong can roll a joint. And believe me, Tommy has rolled A LOT of joints. I am in and out in no longer than 8 minutes from start to finish (takeout). At the end of the day, Bento Box is an incredible sushi restaurant and don't let the prices fool you, they are playing for keeps. Oh and try a roll "crunchy" style (crushed tempura batter on the outside of the roll), INCREDIBLE!

Yelp
Terriyaki beef was perfectly cooked, and frankly, best I've had in all of GTA. Pricing was great for the quantity. Definitely recommend!

Yelp
Loved it, the sushi was fresh and I was hungry, My partner and I will return.

Yelp
This is a very good a la carte sushi place, a lovely environment, clean, and peaceful. I came here with my mom at 8:30 Saturday night and whoever was working were so kind. The kalbi beef appetizer is delicious! Worth the 9.99. I had the spicy salmon combo bento box and it was worth the money as well. My mom had the teriyaki salmon bento box and it was a great portion of salmon, soft and delicate. They've mastered it! The sushi chef also gave us a taste of the dynamite roll, delicious!!

Yelp
Got takeout last night. Kalbi bento box, salmon lover roll, and 20 piece sakura combo. Everything was good, fish tasted fresh but nothing was wow. I really like that they don't put so much rice on the rolls! The tempura was battered totally different from the normal kind. Wasn't crispy. It's not my first choice for sushi but you really can't beat their prices! Very affordable sushi!

Yelp
I go here Once every month and it is very consistent, always good, and tasty. Service is great, made to order, and they don't mind making changes and special requests

Yelp
Bentobox - you have become my new 'go to' Sushi restaurant in Burlington. I used to eat here years ago, and gave it another go recently. Delicious....why did I ever stop? They actually care about quality, and, it's not a 'wam bam thank-you maam' kind of feeling you get at an AYCE place. Very reasonably priced too, and the owners are really nice. I think it's family owned. See you again soon Bento :)

Yelp
This is, by far, one of the best sushi places I have ever been to!! The staff is always friendly, the food is absolutely amazing, and the atmosphere is soothing:) Unfortunately, this restaurant has really increased their prices and now are serving smaller portions than before. But, if you're looking for a great sushi place, and price doesn't matter, I strongly recommend this place!

Yelp
Bento box has become my favorite sushi place. Everything just tastes a little better. I've been to many random and well reviewed sushi bars in GTA and bento box remains at top of my list

Yelp
I think the Korean food here are much better than the Japanese food. We tried the dinner special set which included the California rolls and tempura foods, and a pork bone with potato soup. The pork bone and potato soup was very good, however, the dinner special set was normal. The waiters and the waitresses are very friendly.

Yelp
We ate at Bento Box tonight and it was fantastic. We live in Alberta and were looking for a good sushi place. Well Bento Box was more than we could have anticipated. It wasn't very busy which is always worrisome but the service and food was amazing. We are going to try to get there 1 more time before heading home. A hidden gem and I hope they do well!

Yelp
Completely unremarkable takeout sushi. Self-serve tables that are not terribly comfortable. Quality of food: adequate.

Simon S.

Yelp
Just Ok. Maki is skinny on the rice. Prices don't reflect the portions. Competition is congested in this area. Nothing jumps out to me for value for the $. Car in the shop so had to walk for lunch today. Red Lobster seems more appealing next visit to this area.
