After 98 Years, the Colonnade Launches a New Wine List | Eater Atlanta

"A nearly 40-year-old Oregon winery whose elegant pinot noir was selected for the restaurant's new list; the winery's representative celebrated the pairing of two historic institutions and noted that bright red fruit and lively acidity in pinot noir cut through the richness of fried foods, making it an excellent match. The producer was showcased at a regional tasting event in Atlanta and has bottles poured at notable local restaurants as well." - Henna Bakshi

First time here but it definitely won’t be the last! The wine and food were amazing, I highly recommend the 23 Chardonnay, that was my favorite and the charcuterie was fresh and delicious. The atmosphere and service alone was enough to bring me back. The patio was shaded and so cute. A special thank you to our server Jenn who really pulled the experience together, she was very friendly and fun to chat with about the wine!

We visited Benton Lane from Ohio- highly recommend the wine flight! Their wines were so fantastic and Jenn made our experience phenomenal. She was so knowledgeable and personable, truly made our visit there a highlight of our trip!

This is a beautiful location with staff who are both knowledgeable and passionate about the craft of wine making. We enjoyed a tasting flight along with a charcuterie, which to our delight was available as a vegan option, which was unexpected and delicious 😋 I thought the olives were quite gross 😝... but then I was told that's just how olives taste, so I'll let that go 🤣 Thank you for the forethought to offer something for those of us who don't consume dead flesh with every meal 😉 They also have a small garden that produces some of the ingredients that are used on site.

A group of us were here for a Pinot and Pizza event. We sat on the patio which has a beautiful view of the landscapes. The staff were highly knowledgeable about their wines, the Pinot Noirs were delectable and the pizzas were flavorful. We bought several bottles to bring home with us. I hope to attend another event in the future!

We often drive the back road as a shortcut between Eugene and Newport, and decided to pop by. Such a beautiful setting and high quality wines. Their prices are a bit of a stretch for us, but wines are exceptional. If you are in a budget, I recommend you buy a glass and pick a bottle to take home. Glasses run $10-$18. Bottles are $28 or more (amazing Chardonnay was $40). So great setting, higher end than most, but great wine! You could split a tasting ($20) then buy three bottles for about $90 on the low end-with fee waived.

We had an outstanding experience at Benton-Lane Vineyard & Winery in the southern Willamette Valley! We tasted their elegant Estate Chardonnay and three expressive Pinot Noirs. The Chardonnay was beautifully balanced, with lush notes of apple and pear, a creamy, mineral-infused finish, and a crisp, dry edge. The Pinots each had their own distinct personality, though I have to admit, I was especially partial to the 2022 Loma. Our host, Aidan, made the tasting truly exceptional! He was friendly, knowledgeable, and engaging, with the perfect mix of warmth and expertise that made the visit unforgettable. When you visit Benton-Lane, please say “hi” to Aidan for us! 😊 If you’re looking for world-class Chardonnay and Pinot Noir paired with warm, welcoming hospitality, and an incredibly beautiful patio, Benton-Lane is a must-visit. Highly recommend … 10 STARS!!!

Beautiful view of the countryside! Great tasting wine, and very knowledgeable staff! Each wine had its own story and we left with a bottle to take home. The lobby has a super-clean hotel feel to it with some really happy tropical plants to greet you!

Yelp
Exactly what you want if you're looking for excellent wine in a laid back, calm, brassil environment. Rachel was our guide through the 5 (soon to be four) varietals this small local winery specializes in. This place is about quality, not quantity, & it shows in th her wine and the vibe. The patio is a lovely space to enjoy their rose & pizza found one of those summer events, or the cozy indoor tasting room on a drizzly winter day like the one we visited. All things are better during off peak & this place in particular is worth a weekday visit if you can.

Yelp
We had a wonderful time learning all about the winery and their wines. Rachel was sooo knowledgeable and seemed to really enjoy sharing all she knew! The wine was very good and the charcuterie board was delicious!

Yelp
This winery was very classy with great tasting wines. Our hostess, Rachel was very knowledgeable and informed and love to share the history of the property. She had a great and fun personality. easily recommend this winery. The patio is beautiful and the property and building as well. There's not a sign (yet) for the tasting room. It's the first building on the property. Visit Benton Lane winery you will enjoy it.

Yelp
I'm sad I didn't have a similar experience was the rest of the Yelp reviewers. I popped in on a Tuesday afternoon after a nice tasting at Pfeiffer. Actually Pfeiffer recommended it. I just didn't feel welcome or comfortable. I wanted an experience where I could learn more about the wine and the winery. I really didn't like the wines I tasted. They also don't serve anything that's not available at my local wine store (it's so broadly distributed). I like to visit wineries for the experience - and I hope when I'm here I get to sample something that is unique to the visit (meaning they only have it there vs selling it nationally- like a Reserve wine). Tasting is $10 unless you buy $20 in wine.

Yelp
Fantastic hospitality! We loved the wine (even the Chardonnay, which is not a favorite). The tasting room was very stylish with a chill vibe.

Yelp
We always love stopping at Benton Lane Winery. Large tasting room. Very friendly staff. We even joined the wine club this time. We didn't see the outdoor covered patio, but we'll try it next time so the dog doesn't have to stay in the car.

Yelp
Such a great find and beautiful property. Love the wine, cheese plate and jams. Enjoyed having a picnic in the back patio area. Will be back when visiting this area again .

Yelp
Typically I only like red wines. While the reds that I did try were quite nice, the Benton Lane has some phenomenal white wines. I was mostly impress by their pinot blanc. 10 dollars for a tasting of 5-6 wines, and good prices per glass. I may go back and get one of the white wines, but with so many wineries in the area my one stop into Benton may be my last. That certainly does not mean it was not worth visiting. The view is nice and the product is solid.

Yelp
Wow, I'm the first to review Benton Lane? What an honor. I have been a loyal fan of BL since the early 2000s (but the winery's been around since the late 1980s) when I first had a taste of their Pinot noir at the Nye Beach Gallery (see review) in Newport. If ever there was a way to sum up Oregon in a glass, this would be it! Over the years, I've been able to sample several more of their vintages as a wine club member. Their Pinot gris is my absolute favorite gris around, and in 09 they made their first chard which was, IMO, a smashing success (this coming from a girl who is not that in to Chardonnay). So go ahead and check with whatever fancy wine pub you need to make sure that BL has the chops necessary to part money from your wallet-- 'cause they've got the cred to back up their claims, for sure. And after you're through, I encourage you to dig a bit deeper and check out their vineyard practices. These are people who truly reflect the spirit (rather than just the letter) of "organic" farming law. Now let's talk location. BL is situated just outside Monroe, on the south end of Territorial Hwy. The owners have instituted some pretty big changes in recent years (expanded tasting room and patio, new pizza oven, etc), but have done a fabulous job of creating and maintaining the feel of an historic family winery. It's an unassuming spot, with great east-facing views from the patio. A perfect place to relax with friends on a summer afternoon. BL virtually closes for the winter--with only weekday hours from December - April-ish. But, especially if you're a local, don't let this dissuade you from signing up for their wine club. Seriously, this is my first and has been my best wine club choice. Very easy (1-3 bottles), reasonable (~$60, quarterly) shipments, comprised of only their best offerings. I've never been disappointed. And the 20% discount doesn't hurt either! An excellent introduction to the Oregon wine scene.

Yelp
Their 2007 Pinot Noir is still the best glass of wine (actually I'm lying- bottle... several bottles) I've ever had. The 2009 was almost as magnificent, and unfortunately in Los Angeles where I live, its almost impossible to find wines from Benton Lane. BL, you've made me into an Oregon wine snob, and I love you for it. :)

Yelp
The wine here is excellent especially the pinot blanc! We visited on memorial day weekend so they were pretty busy, my complaint is that on most days you can bring your own food but on that day they had pizza so they told us we could not eat the very nice picnic that I had put together. I was starving and didn't feel like driving somewhere else so I ordered a pizza which was just ok. Also the glass of white wine I ordered was not cold so I was a little disappointed over all.

Yelp
What a wonderful location to spend an autumn afternoon. Beautiful winery, enjoyable tasting. All the wines were fabulous but if you are looking for something unique/different, try the Rose Pinot Noir!

Yelp
For a $7 fee, we tasted some of the country's best (and most reasonably priced!) wine at Benton-Lane. Their pinot noir is as advertised-- fantastic-- and the tasting room is spacious and comfortable. Our pourer was friendly, and samples of house made wine jams were also available. We were travelling, so we couldn't buy a bottle (tastings are comped with a purchase of $20 or more), but some delicious pepper jelly made it into the suitcase!

Yelp
Not many wineries have no tasting fee these days. Here is one with good wines and reasonable prices. We bought a Pinot Blanc (can't get in MI), but would buy what they do sell at home. Great veggie canapés provided and friendly to boot. A joy of a find

Yelp
Darling winery with really decent wines. Generally I prefer red wines, but their pinot gris was amazing. Kind of out of the way, but worth the stop.

Mary M.

Yelp
Such a wonderful place to hang out and enjoy their wines! Tastings can either be in the tasting room or on their beautiful patio (we were more than willing to take our glasses inside for each taste). Great views from their patio with lovely flowers close up and views of the vineyard and surrounding countryside farther out. We stayed longer than anticipated and will be back to buy more wine and enjoy the setting.

Yelp
Great value in Oregon Pinots. Very personable owner, Steve Girard.
