11 Enticing Minneapolis Skyway Restaurants | Eater Twin Cities

"Bếp Eatery offers a Vietnamese spin on the familiar fast-casual formula. First, pick the format: a vermicelli bowl, pho, spring rolls, or bánh mì. Then select a protein (chicken, pork, steak, tofu, or shrimp), add some fillings, and top with Vietnamese vinaigrette, citrus soy, or peanut chili sauce. Tasty beverage options include fresh pressed sugarcane juice, Vietnamese coffee, and coconut water." - Stacy Brooks

I was really excited to try this place. Online and on the door it said they opened at 11. I waited 10 minutes before even seeing someone. Waited another 15 minutes (25 minutes after scheduled open time) and finally ended up leaving because the gal who I saw in there setting up had left. I missed my lunch break waiting to get service :(

Honestly I went to this place only by the higher number of ratings when I looked for Vietnamese restaurants to try out a Pho. The restaurant is placed in the middle of a busy downtown building that the size of the place isn't too generous. Luckily the restaurant wasn't too busy on a Friday noon and I got served for lunch within two minutes. This is a quick eat like a Chipotle and I informed the first waitress on the line that I was there for the first time. She got excited and walked me through all the available options in the menu. Since the broth has chicken in it, I decided to pass on the Pho and instead went for a Vermicelli rice salad with veggies. One by one the waitresses in the line kept stacking different proteins and veggies to the vermicelli and made it look like an art work. The checkout was pretty fast and I got extra soy sauce, crushed peanuts and peanut sauce. The food was extraordinary without a second doubt. This place is quite small and you will need to be mindful of finishing your meal fast so that others don't have to wait on you. *Be mindful of what you put on your plate. Don't waste your food!*

Google
Great spot for lunch pho! Served a bit differently than I'm used to, with smaller/thinner noodles, but the flavor is spot on. Good spring rolls as well.

Google
Busy spot for the downtown crowd. I enjoyed my vermicelli bowl. Not as good as West Coast Vietnamese but it sure hit the spot after days of burgers and Wisconsin cheeses!

Loved the food here. Bowl tasted perfect but my favorite pho. Taste so good. Cheap quality Eat 👍

Google
Amazing! I had the Pho, and it was just as good as a Vietnamese restaurant. Great service too (very friendly).

Google
Great place to get pho for lunch! This is a Chipotle/Subway style where you can mix and match to create your own pho. Prices and food were very reasonable considering the faster nature of the place.

Google
Pho was so salty I had to throw the whole soup away. Mind you it has to be REALLY bad for me to not eat something I paid for. It could have been because I came around closing time, not sure but I’ve also never had pho that has hella oil just sitting on top of the broth. Super disappointing as there isn’t many other pho options in the skyway area.

Yelp
Really great option for lunch! It's set up Chipotle-style (assembly line style) for Vietnamese food and quite affordable. Staff was super friendly and gave recommendations. There is no seating available so it's takeout only. I am in the area for work and has eaten a few too many heavy things so I wanted something soupy and this hit the spot. I got a chicken pho and added on a spring roll for $2. Solid

Yelp
THEY ARE OPEN AGAIN!!! This is not a drill!! I literally visit this location at least 1-2 times per week. They have the best phó (rare steak is the only way to go) for a chilly Minnesota day, but I usually get the spring rolls with extra peanut sauce. I don't feel bogged down by carbs and it's just enough protein to get me through my work day. The sauce has a little kick that keeps me coming back again and again.

Yelp
If you are looking for authentic pho, this is not the place. Downtown location only has the to-go option. Fast and convenient, but not tasty. I had pho with beef broth. Broth was sweetened. Small portion of noodle. Would not recommend in general.

Yelp
The foods not that great and the last time I tried it they said they were out of food at 1:30pm. lol

Yelp
Fast food contemporary Vietnamese that's reliable. Ordered the spring rolls. Ultimately the rolls had a nice stretch rice paper exterior. The inside had a lot of fiber and veggies that's were basically a salad. The chicken portion was meager but we'll executed. Since I came for the 1-2pm happy hour ($2 spring rolls) this was a decent deal. Otherwise, I didn't think these were very impressive.

Yelp
Not the best I've had but it is nice to have these options in downtown Minneapolis skyways. The menu is light (pho, vermicelli, spring rolls) and the concept mirrors Chipotle as you get to see your order being made. The ingredients looked fresh and smelled flavorful and delicious. That said, I did notice very soggy noodles in the big bowl they had. Ordered - Chicken Spring Rolls (3/5). It was okay. It had all the right ingredients (+1 for the addition of pineapple strips) but it was average in taste. I was disappointed in the fish sauce as it was heavily diluted and lost its purpose whereas I think going with the peanut sauce would have been the safer bet. - Chicken Pho (2.5/5). Horrendous. The broth was lukewarm despite only taking our take out from the place to a nearby hotel (30 second walk). The soup was a little too sweet and the cubed chicken was a let down. It is better than other fast noodle dishes I've had in a corporate work setting but still was pretty hyped after reading all the reviews. Would I try it again? I would because I think the banh mi sandwiches may be tasty and I do have occasional Vietnamese cravings when I'm in downtown for work.

Yelp
This place definitely serves a purpose for days when its gloomy outside and I need some broth and wholesome noodles in my life. Trust me, when I order the Pho, I have tried to eat these rice noodles in an elegant manner but have not been successful. Slurp, Slurp, Slurp pretty much sums up my Pho experience. I usually get the chicken Pho with lettuce, onions, bean sprouts, and curacha- i kept it simple. They now have a huge tub where they put the broth, meat, and onions (if you select them) together and then they give you the separate bowl with the dry items and the sauce of your choice ( if you choose one). I like the new serving method a lot because the broth goes a long way and the ingredients really get to marinate well together in the tub.

Yelp
Yum!!! This is an instance where I wish I could half and do 4.5. The only reason for not a 5 is that it is delicious and I look forward to going back, but wish the flavors were a bit stronger to push it to incredible. I've gone twice and gotten the vermicelli salad with chicken. You're able to customize the toppings ala chipotle including the sauce (I like the vinaigrette). I go spicy with jalapeños and sriracha as well. Delicious and not heavy at all! I look forward to trying the bah mi, pho, and the spring rolls!

Yelp
I love LOVE this place. Aside from the populated Chinese spots here in downtown I'm so glad there's a fast and easy Vietnamese joint nearby. I've visited Bep more than 20x in the last 2 years and finally got to writing a review. Honestly, I felt like it was much much better when I stepped into Bep the first few times. However it is still my favorite go to. My favorite is the vermicelli bowl. The bowl starts with a base of the vermicelli noods, then your protein of choice. I usually go for the steak, because it's tender and I love seeing a glimpse of pink. Then you choose any topping of choice, varying from bean sprouts, pickled carrots, herbs and etc. I love the vermicelli and peanut sauce together. Before, they would squeezed the sauce into the bowl but recently it comes in a condiment container. I still prefer the squeezing sauce bottles but totally understandable about the switch up. Their second option is Pho. The pho broth is amazing. It's so flavorful that sometimes I just don't want none of the noods. Its great that this option is available because it's my go to for soups when I feel under the weather. They also make spring rolls with your choice of proteins and topping as well. I say it's just like the bowl but rolled up in translucent chewy wraps. Located in the Skyway of the Fifth Street Towers hidden around the corner of the 100 tower! Check it out!

Yelp
If you work in downtown Minneapolis and have a craving for Pho, Bep is the place to go. There are two locations but this is the one I frequent. It's a short walk from my office, but one must go early to avoid the crowd. I got there around 11:30am and already, lines were forming. I ordered the beef pho. The staff assembles your pho in front of you like Subway and Chipotle style. Seating is ample but again, it gets filled up fast so find a spot fast if you can. The bowls are the perfect size, and they're made of sustainable cardboard/paper? (I think). The broth was amazing! It was pretty good for a small skyway restaurant and you don't need to add anything else to it! The portion is enough to make you full but not enough to put you in food coma so I'm not worried! The staff are friendly and I love how fast they work. They're also located in the perfect spot in the skyway, no wonder why it gets extremely Busy if you don't go early. I would definitely come back again when I get another Pho craving. The broth had me hooked.

Yelp
Two words. Vietnamese Coffee. I can't stay away from this place. The coffee is so strong and delicious. It's the best place I've found to get iced Vietnamese Coffee in the Twin Cities. I have had the Pho and the Spring Rolls and both are awesome. Put BEP on your list of restaurants to try. One teeny tiny con: They close daily at 2pm. Kinda sucks when the food is so yummy.

Yelp
I skipped gym time to finally check this place out since they are only open until 3pm, and I would say it was worth it. Got into the restaurant, and there was not a long line. Service was super fast, and I got my bowl of pho quick. The restaurant is more designed for to-go because there isn't much space to dine in. I got the beef pho, which came with beef broth, rare steak, and some great choice of veggies that adds aromatic and texture (basil, bean sprouts, cilantro, jalapenos, etc.). The beef pho was good! Not the best I have had, but not bad either. Good pho is good pho, and it sure will leave you satisfied. Fast and friendly service, and good pho. Where can you go wrong with this place? Great for grabbing a quick meal. I'm just not sure how long the wait will be when it's super busy.

Yelp
I tried Bep while visiting Minneapolis one week for lunch. The concept is similar to many other fast-casual restaurants in that they make your order in front of you, adding ingredients as you move down the line. I was initially daunted by the line, but it moved super fast. Bep has a "light" menu with just three options - pho, spring rolls, and vermicelli bowls. You add your protein and ingredients, choose your sauce, and pay. It's all rather efficient. I wanted the tofu vermicelli bowl, but they were out of tofu, so I just tried a non-meat bowl instead. Their veggies were fresh and delicious, as was their peanut sauce. It was also a generous serving. I love Vietnamese food, and while this wasn't your traditional meal (pineapple, anyone?), it was really good. I will definitely return!

Yelp
It is convenient for a shirt lunch break of office jobs, but I would not recommend if you're looking for something truly authentic. It's like Subway version of Vietnamese food. You pick Pho, Vermicelli, Banh Mi or Spring rolls. Pick your protein, veggies and sauces. I guess the beef on Pho was a bit "too rare" for us that made it too chewy to it. The broth is actually better than I expected. The rice vermicelli texture was so weird, but the veggies and grilled chicken wasn't bad. I chose the vinaigrette for dressing because that's what we usually eat at home. 4/5 for this place. Nice design and idea. Should have more spaces to dine-in.

Yelp
This is my second-favorite Asian restaurant in the skyway. One of the things I like most is the fact that I can order online and pickup my lunch without having to wait in the ridiculously long line. I also like the looks on peoples' faces as I breeze past them to grab my food. You know that New Yorker's like to make people envious. I've had the Vermicelli Bowl, which was ok. I really wanted some broth, but that would have been a riff on Pho. So, I've had the Pho more than anything else, and I really enjoy it. One of the qualities I enjoy about Asian food is that many of them have "warming" properties. The Pho here definitely does. It makes my insides feel great, as like I'm touching a part of my spirit that needed a little attention. I had the Bao with my daughter, and it was also good. We got spoiled on Bao years back by a friend from Vietnam. We used to exchange Bao for cheesecake and my Hawaiian teriyaki wings. The spring rolls are the only thing I'd not get again. They fall apart on me each and every time I've had them. If not in a pie-throwing contest, I don't like wearing my food. Besides, I've got Pad Ga-Pow for spring rolls (Yummety Yum!). So, if I don't feel like walking over to my number one Asian skyway restaurant (which has been far too long), I order online here and make myself happy enough to get through the rest of my workday.

Yelp
Bep is one if my top three favorite eats in the skyway! You truly can't go wrong here. The rare steak pho is my personal favorite in the winter because the steak and sprouts are incredible, and it warms you up! The spring rolls are amazing, too, though. If you're in the mood for spring rolls, shrimp with extra peanut sauce is a must! I have also had their vermicelli salad which is light but filling. Depending on my preference for the day, I order all three pretty often! I have never had their banh mi, but others I've eaten with have enjoyed it. Seating is limited, but it has always been available when I need it because most people take their lunch to go. The line is also super long during the lunch rush, but it moves fast so don't be discouraged! It is totally worth it for a filling skyway lunch!

Yelp
My old review still stands - but I've got to shout out the spring roll happy hour from 1 - 2 pm every day. $2/spring roll and you can order them in single quantities. They are perfect for when your lunch wasn't quite enough, but you aren't looking to order a full second meal. They've definitely saved me from getting the afternoon hangries at work!

Yelp
This was our first time ever eating at BEP. We were on a trip to Minneapolis, and really wanted some noodles. I found BEP and it had really good reviews and the picture looked great!! It was a bit difficult to find because it's hidden inside of a suite corporate type building. I was so hungry from looking at the pictures and driving around and around as if I could have jumped out into traffic to run up to people to ask where it was. Finally, I figured it was in this corporate building, and decided to get out and go inside. The first person I asked if he knew where B E P was.....he just looked at me and said B E T??? I was thinking to myself... no he didn't just say that, just because I'm black....smh...B E T I thought.. Finally I found a Caribou Coffee inside and asked one of the workers where B E P was, and he said... oh you mean BEP? I said yes! He told me where to go and I was finally on my way! When I got there, it was lunch rushour and the line was quite long outside. That's a good thing, but my stomach thought otherwise... Stood in line for a bit, but it seemed to go faster because they were quite organized. So, looks were deceiving.... I ordered online and got the Rare Beef Steak PHO and a spring roll. The black guy with frizzy hair on the sides all around his hat.... not sure if his name, sorry, but he represented great customer service!! He went over and beyond for me, and it seemed as if he treated everyone that way. I wish I knew his name. Anyways, he came through the line, asked me what my orders were, and then kept reassuring me that I was taken care of. I loved how easy it was to order from my trusty Yelp app!! I even got a discount and was able to use it!! They are reasonably priced too! They are only open from 11am-2pm and it seems a bit short, because man do they make the business. I got several different sauces and since it was to go, everything was in nice and neat containers. Looking into the restaurant, they surely could have used a bigger seating area because they make the business!!!! When I was finally able to eat, man.....it was so good!!!!! The only thing I wished was that since it's to go, somehow the broth could be placed in something where it stays boiling hot, because my rice noodles were a bit underdone, and my hotel was just around the corner so it's not like I had to travel a long way. The flavors were spot on, and adding my peanut sauce. Sriracha, and a bit of hoisin to the mix....I was in noodle heaven!!!! The spring roll was delicious and surprisingly enough they had rice noodles in them too!!! They need to build BEPS everywhere, because this is amazing. Traveling from Indiana... it was definitely a treat!! I loved everything and thank you so much for the great customer service and food!!! Please don't ever change the quality of the food or the great customer service!!!! #bepforever!!

Yelp
LOVE the pho here- so fresh and flavorful. This is one of my favorite go-to lunch spots.

Keith M.

Yelp
If you're coming here for bahn mi, look elsewhere. It's not offered anymore. This place is takeout only, go eat in your cubicle. That said, the pho was decent.

Yelp
I'm Asian and have grown up eating Asian food (Thai, Lao, Vietnamese, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Indian)...Also I've had it internationally (Thailand, Hong Kong, Europe) as well as across the US in cities known for their culinary scene (LA, New York, Chicago, Dallas, Houston). The service is great and the staff is nice, but the food is almost flavor-less. I came here with my cousin who was craving a banh mi sandwich. I got the vermicelli bowl with chicken as well as some shrimp spring rolls. My dish is designed to be lightly flavored to begin with but the sauces (I got a different one for each; a brownish one and an orange one) that accompanied both the bowl and the spring rolls really did not bring anything to the dishes. The chicken was definitely not marinated (preparation wasn't there in the flavor) and the flavor itself was way too light to carry the dish. Very similar for the shrimp spring rolls. My cousin agreed when she tried them... :( I really feel if they got better sauces and enhanced their preparation they could be more authentic and more flavorful. I'm surprised this place has 4 stars on average.. It's hipster-ish sure (looks is everything?), but the food is very very meh, sad to say.

Yelp
Just think, if Chipotle and your favorite Vietnamese noodle place had a baby... It would be this place. Fresh ingredients, Express format, clean swanky setup, able to rapidly handle a single order or a line of 30 -which is how much it can fluctuate at any given time in the Skyway- this place can hit the spot for Phò, Vermicelli, or some quick spring rolls. Only thing I haven't tried is the Bánh mì.The staff is great, very friendly and helpful, plus you can order online and skip waiting. All to say, this a place to check out and most likely, you'll be back. At least that's been the trend for most colleagues that I've introduced to them, including on co-worker who goes weekly!

Yelp
I'm finishing up my vermicelli bowl as I write this! My coworker offered to pick up Bep after a meeting downtown. I ordered the Vermicelli bowl with steak and vietnamese vinaigrette. For the price, you get a fairly large bowl stuffed with your choice of ingredients. It has already been said - this is a Chipotle style place. The freshness of the ingredients was a standout and the vinaigrette was exactly what I love about a vermicelli bowl although there was a tad too much swimming in my bowl. The steak was lackluster but I was happy overall! I would like to try the pho during another visit.
google avatar

Jason K.

Yelp
The line was out the door of the small Vietnamese Chipotle like Pho/Spring Roll/Noodle/Pho shop that has been written up all over the Twin Cities periodicals. The service was amazing at each of the 3 stations I stopped at. I ordered the chicken Banh Mi on a nice and crispy baguette roll with all the fixings and they added some chopped peanuts and some hot chili peanut sauce. The guys behind the counter were super cool and the portion was pretty large. I brought it back to the office and it was good, but I would of liked a toasted bun, because it was kind of cold. I heated it up in the microwave and just screwed everything up. The bread got soggy, but the chicken and fixings were really good. (Great jalapenos) Overall, I should have got the pho, but it was a pretty good banh mi, but I have had a lot better on Eat Street.

Yelp
Phobulous! Drop everything and grab whoever is close to you, go to this place and thank me later! I came here with a group of friends for lunch and it was mind blowing. I'm Vietnamese and I've been trying to find some authentic taste in the Twins Cities. I expected this place to be extremely americanized but it was a pleasant surprise. Here's a summary of my experience: Get in line! - Don't let the line scare you. It goes fast and it's worth it. If you come around noon-ish, it's gonna be packed. Know what to order - When you get to the register, it moves fast so you don't have much time to think. Four main menu items are: banh mi sandwich, vermicelli noodles, spring rolls, and pho! Special review for Pho - The pho was very flavorful and fulfilling. I got the steak and it was fun to watch the raw meat being cook by the hot broth. It comes in a paper bowl with a stable lid so you can have it to go. The place is really small with a few tables which only fit 2 people per table. Don't bring a big group if you're planning to all eat together there. Must-get item - Vietnamese coffee! I'm so excited to check out their other location in the Lasalle building soon!

Yelp
Never disappointed. Plus, half off spring rolls after one? Yes please! I quite enjoy the spring rolls and pho. However, I have noticed it depends on who does the rolls as to if they fall apart or not.

Yelp
The freshest lunch food in downtown MPLS! The happy hour spring roll special (2$/roll) is amazing! I found different info on what time the HH runs, so here's a photo of their window sign: 1-2 PM weekdays!

Yelp
I ventured out of my comfort zone in the Minneapolis Skyways to try this place and I was pleasantly surprised! I ordered the Vermicelli Salad with steak and it was delicious! I love the concept of "build-your-own" Vietnamese fast food, especially in the skyway! I felt like the portions were great, the flavors were on point, and I was able to add only the ingredients that I wanted! The meat was delicious, tender and not overly cooked, and the "Vietnamese vinaigrette" (which was basically just nuoc mam) was just right for me, though I could see it being a bit bland for others. They had a good variety of sauces so there's something for just about everyone! I'm a little iffy about the other menu items as I'm picky with my pho so the fast-food, build-your-own thing scares me a little and my coworker who ordered the banh mi said the bread was a little too hard. I'll give this visit 4 stars because my dish was delicious, but I'm interested to see how the other, more traditional menu options compare to true authentic Vietnamese cuisine.
google avatar

Kay K.

Yelp
Not trying to be a hater...because most of the reviews are so positive and service was so friendly...but I'm not that impressed with the pho. The noodles are quite broken so instead of long noodles you're left with all these floating little pieces that takes away from the pho experience. Meat portion is good - I appreciate that Bep doesn't skimp. They also don't bat an eye when you ask for a bunch of veggies/condiments to be added. Next time I'm choosing spring rolls or the noodle bowl so I can have a more well rounded opinion of this place. The sauce options were great and offer good portion size so you can taste a couple different sauces.
google avatar

Nicola M.

Yelp
Everything on the menu is absolutely delicious. I've enjoyed eating my way through the menu from the pho, vermicelli noodle bowls, banh mi and fresh rolls. Fresh ingredients and delicious choices from tofu, shrimp, steak, pork and chicken. The staff are friendly and helpful. Bep is tip top.

Yelp
It's in the skyway Vietnamese Chipotle Authentic? Don't know. Couple weeks ago when I was downtown Minneapolis, I walked past here and saw the signage. Vietnamese street food. Note to self: check this place out the next time you are downtown. Today was that day. Got there close to two so the line was non-existent when I got there. I imagine they could get crowded during the lunch hour as they did have the rope queue set up, but I can't imagine it gets anywhere near as bad as Chipotle or Naf Naf Grill in the US Bank building which are more on the main thoroughfare of downtown foot traffic. Think there were three basic options on the menu: Vermicelli Noodle Bowl, Pho, or Spring Rolls. I opted for the Vermicelli Noodle Bowl. Choose your protein, choose your toppings, and choose your sauce. I went with Grilled Chicken, peanuts, carrots, lettuce and the chili sauce. Just shy of nine bucks. Worth every penny. Left with my stomach full and my taste buds happy. Good value for the money. It is nice to see that some other types of cuisine are getting in on the Chipotle format. Cuisine that you would normally have to sit down and waste time with waiter service for instead made quick and easy. Was it the best Vietnamese food I have ever had? Probably not. Would I go back? Absolutely. Gonna try the pho next time.

Yelp
In skyway...quick service and fresh! Love the Bahn Mi. Beautifully crispy roll with fresh toppings. If you come during the lunch hour do not be surprised to find a line, but no worries the line moves right along. This is a fresh fast food concept and it totally works! Very friendly staff.

Yelp
I absolutely love this place. I found it 3 weeks ago when I was looking for somewhere in the skyway to go and I have now ate their 3 times. The food is fresh and I love that you can order online and have it ready by the time you get their to skip the line. I always do the vermicelli bowl with everything in it and the peanut chili sauce. AMAZING!

Yelp
Yay! Been waiting for a Vietnamese place to pop up in downtown Minneapolis forever! If you want fresh ingredients and a quick lunch this is the place to go. Concept mirrors Vietnamese street food so quick and fast food but so not like American fast food! You start off by choosing what kind of dish you want: Banh Mi, Vermicelli noodle salad, or spring rolls (3); then meat choices are grilled chicken, grilled pork (my fave), garlic shrimp (extra charge), or tofu and then lastly choose your toppings and sauces. Oh and cannot forget pho!! Choice of chicken or beef. my favorite so far is the grilled pork vermicelli noodle salad topped with lettuce, cucumber, pineapple, jalapeños and the fish sauce. Don't forget to pick up some sriracha for spice and lime for some citrus! Great concept! I do wish there was more seating, very small area, if you go during the busy lunch hour you will most likely be taking it to go and back to the office. I just heard from the owner today that they are going to be partnering with a delivery service which is awesome for anyone who may not be able to get there as often. That will definitely be an option for me in the case I am stuck in meetings and can't get out. Please go support Bep you won't be disappointed!

Yelp
Going to Bep Eatery is the best decision I made this week. I can only speak for the pho since that's the only thing I've ever gotten but it was delicious. Having eaten pho for 29 years, this place is pretty delicious even compared to some restaurants. It's like Chipotle for Vietnamese food where you pick your base, protein, and fixings. The pho was really fresh and tasted decently authentic. The restaurant itself was surprisingly really clean and organized. I did go when they first opened so there wasn't a line yet but I do hear that it does go by fast when they do have one. MUST TRY!

Yelp
Darn was hoping bep would live up to its hype but I didn't enjoy the pho here much. Maybe pho isn't meant to be an express thang. Though the flavor of the broth was good the temperature of it was only 'warm' and I know a good pho broth should be piping hot so it can cook the raw steak slices placed in the pho, not to mention my noodles were way undercooked too... so I left with an upset stomach afterwards wahhhh that's alright, though the food was mediocre the service was quick and friendly, so maybe on a cold rainy day when I have an immense craving for pho I'll have no choice but to go to bep for lunch. ***extra star for the owner reaching out, which is always a great gesture in my book :)

Yelp
Really wanted to like what I got as I work downtown and Bep Eatery is only a 5 minute walk away which is super convenient when I don't bring my own lunch or am tired of the options in my building. I love vermicelli salads and usually order them with pork at most Vietnamese places I go but holy crap was that pork covered in black pepper. It was like it was rolled in a bucket of pepper before being cooked and it completely overpowered the flavors of everything else. I checked the menu to see if it was my oversight and maybe they had mentioned pepper in the description of the pork but they did not. I recommend they do. I can still taste it and it's been 15 minutes. I will say though that the noodles are cooked well and the veggies all seem really fresh. I do want to give their other options a shot so we'll see how those are in the future.

Yelp
It's like Chipotle for Vietnamese. Bep, which means kitchen in Vietnamese, opened this week in the Fifth Street Towers. It's a small place, maybe 7 tables, with a small menu: only 4 items: Banh Mi, Vermicelli Bowl, Spring Rolls (you get 3) and Pho. I tried the Banh Mi with chicken, an assortment of veggies, and Vietnamese sauces. It was tasty, but a touch salty for me. The ingredients look quality and the service is quick - they make everything to order while you are ordering it. Location seems a little tucked away, it's by the skyway between 5th Street Towers and the Soo Line Apartments.

Yelp
Review is based solely on the pho. Got the beef. Broth and beef were quite nice/good, but as some mentioned, the broth was not piping hot as I am use to and was just warm. Another issue for me was the undercooked pho. I brought it back to my office to microwave and honestly it tasted 3x better when I did that. Piping hot broth and cooked noodles, at least. I hoped there would be more options than just beef or chicken like maybe meatballs or tripe and what not or combos. But I think they can get away with the basic concept/price bc they're in the skyway, downtown mpls, and it's supposed to be "fast food"-like, and a good number of their clients prolly don't eat tripe or suspicious meatballs, so I guess lol. For those that have been raving about the place.. I was expecting something more, but what to expect from skyway chipotle style pho? Hm. I will only come back if I am desperate for pho since it's the only walkable location close by, and I would just resort to microwaving it bc it does taste good/better when I do that as I don't absolutely hate it. How I rate pho: 5 stars if it reminds me of mama's cookin'/home, 4 if exceptional, 3 if its decent, 2 its ok/bearable but could improve. 1, do you even know what pho is? (Side note: Though I never tried their other foods, I also think 7.95 for a banh mi/spring rolls is ridiculous when I can get it for 3.50 or less elsewhere. But then again, location and who knows, maybe all their ingredients are organic and -insert other buzz words here-)

Yelp
Authentic. Flavorful. Amazing. In less than three weeks since its grand opening, the line out the door indicates just how quickly word has spread about the gem that is Bêp. Don't be intimidated though - the line moves quickly, so you'll be eating your (delicious) food in no time. 1. The food is stellar. 2. The owners are Minnesotan grown. 3. The prices are so affordable. 4. The service is friendly and efficient. 5. The restaurant is spotless. What more could you ask for? Welcome to Minneapolis, Bêp!

Yelp
Upon arrival there was a short line that went by surprisingly quickly. I had the chicken breast Pho for lunch, it was very flavorful and it was a generous portion. It was the right amount of spicy and their chicken broth was delicious. I will definitely return. However, given that they use cardboard bowls I felt like the soup got cold too quickly. I wish they had non-cardboard bowls for people who were eating at the restaurant (it would also be less waste)! On the other hand, it is a great place to get Pho on the go. Maybe have non plastic cutlery too? They also had a $2 spring roll deal after 1pm that I will try next time. The staff was helpful and nice. I will definitely return.

Yelp
My favorite bahn mi place closed in Minneapolis (Bun Mi), so I was on the hunt to find bahn mi just as good. Bep is really good, but I found it to be a bit soggy because they drench it in sauce. Since it is located in an office building in down town, I took the light rail instead of having to deal with parking. I want to go back to try their pho and spring rolls!

Yelp
I've heard a lot of good things about this place and of course it peaked my curiosity. I finally got to come try it and what I determined is that it is the Chipotle of Vietnamese food. This must be how people who know authentic Mexican food feel about Chipotle, I understand now. Located just off the Nicollet Green Line stop and accessible through the Minneapolis Downtown Skyways, the restaurant was a petit space with about 10 small tables. They have good packaging though that taking things to-go is very neat, tidy and convenient. I thought the food was decent but nothing spectacular. There are two main entree options, pho or vermicelli bowl. I got the pho that day since I was craving pho. The broth was good and flavorful, and they put the raw meat at the bottom so that the broth will cook it so the meat was soft and tender. The noodles and veggies were in a separate container with hoison sauce and sriracha sprinkled over the top. So when I ate it, I poured my broth onto the noodles and mixed everything together. It was visually pleasing, probably more so than taste. My noodles were a bit undercooked and I would prefer to decide how much hoison and sriracha I want in my soup. My friends all got the vermicelli bowl. There were lots of choices of protein (chicken, pork, beef, tofu, etc), fresh ingredients (basil, jalepeno, bean sprouts, carrots, cucumbers, pineapple, etc), and lastly which of three sauces (peanut sauce, fish sauce or a red one I am not sure what that one was) you wanted on top. It was a lot of food for $8 an entree, so I thought it was reasonably priced for a lunch. Overall, this is a healthy and fast option for lunch if you work in downtown and easily accessible on metro transit. I can see why a lot of people really liked it, but given this is my native food, it was not super authentic. Nonetheless, it was an interesting take and I never encountered fast or fusion Vietnamese food before.

Yelp
This is seriously my favorite place to get pho EVER! The most cutest and yummiest place! Wish I could give it a million stars! It kind-of reminds me of a chipotle style place. You get to choose what to put in your pho. I've never tried anything else because I'm a bit of a wimp and don't like trying anything new but I've heard a lot of great things about everything. My friend got beef one time and it was undercooked so that's the only problem I've ever had with this place! I don't eat beef and always get chicken in my pho so for me this place was the bomb dot com! Definitely recommend going here at least once!

Yelp
Quality of food is meh for the price (maybe being Vietnamese makes me extra harsh?). They sell a combo of 3 rolls for $9 ish, which is fair expensive. Bep advertised $2 spring rolls (yes rolls not roll), which to me sounds like that whole portion of 3 rolls for $2. Turned out it is $2/ each, which is an okay price to ask but to me, this is just not transparent. This 1 star for nontransparent.

Yelp
$2 spring rolls after 2pm, which is usually when I eat my lunch. While it might not seem like quite the bargain since they're normally 3/$8, I only need to eat 2. Sweet deal! Yes, they do need to be more tightly wrapped, so I just grab some chop sticks and eat them open face style. Plain, simple, 4 stars for what they are!

Yelp
This place has good food but with a few flaws. First the location is not convenient unless you work in the area. You have to know where to go because you don't see it casually walking around. Secondly, as a vegetarian I was disappointed not to have a veggie pho option. At least that's what they told me. I was looking forward to a brothy bowl of noodles but ended up with some sort of spring roll which was good but just not the pho I was hoping for. Third flaw is the fact this is a teeny tiny place. Line wraps around outside if you go at lunch and seating can be a challenge. On the plus, its remarkably quick to get through the line. You just might have to eat on your lap somewhere though. In summary, like the food, wish there was an equally good veggie pho option and it was easier to get to. Definitely for working 20-somethings.

Yelp
I'm pretty pumped to have a quality Vietnamese skyway restaurant close to my work. I didn't have too high of expectations since I figured there was no way it could measure up to any of the University Ave joints I frequent. But... This place looks like a winner to me. I had the beef pho with all the recommended fixings including a healthy handful of jalapeños and a drizzle of sriracha. I was expecting a bland luke warm broth but it was piping hot with great spice character that definitely measures up. Other things I like: - No Styrofoam used - Finally a restaurant in the 100 S. Fifth St. Tower - Minimal yet very nice looking decor w/ 5 or so tables - Can't beat the price for a perfect lunch size bowl of pho. I'll be coming back to try the banh mi and the spring rolls soon!
