"Eat like a local at this hidden gem near Ben Thanh Market! Inside, the vivid yellow walls are decorated to echo the exterior of village houses, complete with blue shutters. With its pleasant buzz, the restaurant has a welcoming atmosphere. Perch on one of the wooden stools, as the regulars do, and sample the signature Vietnamese pancake with shrimp and pork, served in a shallow bamboo basket. The fried rice with shrimp and egg, served in a coconut shell, is also worth trying. The service is friendly, portions are perfect for sharing." - Michelin Inspector

"In an alley off Le Thanh Ton not far from Ben Thanh Market, this no-fuss, homestyle-cooking joint is a huge hit with locals as well as expats living in Saigon. The evocative decor on the two floors includes murals of Vietnamese street scenes and even a full tuk-tuk-style food truck used as a counter, while the upstairs feels more like a home. The restaurant, which promotes itself as "Mama’s kitchen with a twist" and uses clay pots, bamboo baskets, and coconut shells to serve some dishes, offers items such as peppercorn pork and sour-fish soup on its wide-ranging menu."

Food is great! They have 3 different concepts in the same lane, bahn mi, noodles and eatery. Queue is long so be sure to make a reservation before going or else be ready to wait. Service is quick and prompt, servers can speak good English and food is great! My must pre-order: bahn mi and beef skewers!

Bếp Mẹ In offers a warm and homely taste of authentic Vietnamese cuisine, with dishes that feel like they came straight from a family kitchen. The flavours are comforting, well-balanced, and not overly commercialized, exactly what you’d hope for from a place that prides itself on tradition. The menu has a good variety of favourites, from hearty soups to classic rice dishes, and everything is presented beautifully without losing its rustic charm. Portion sizes are generous, and the ingredients taste fresh. Service is friendly and welcoming, though the wait can be a little longer during peak hours. Prices are reasonable for the quality and atmosphere, making it a solid choice for anyone wanting a reliable Vietnamese meal in a cozy setting. As it is hidden at the back alley along rows of hair salons, you might missed it easily if you did not navigate via Google Maps. A satisfying and authentic dining experience, definitely worth returning for more.

We had a wonderful dining experience at this Vietnamese restaurant. The food was absolutely delicious. Each dish was well-prepared, flavorful, and truly showcased authentic Vietnamese cuisine. A special mention goes to the staff, especially Sam, who was attentive and friendly throughout our visit. Sam patiently shared insights about Vietnamese cuisine and helped us understand the dishes better, which made the experience even more enjoyable. Highly recommended for anyone looking for great food and genuine hospitality.

THIS PLACE IS SERVING DELICIOUS, GOOD QUALITY OF FOOD AT A VERY CHEAP PRICE!!! They truly deserve their Michelin title. Some would say that the seating arrangement is a little crowded but I really don’t mind. I think it only adds to the authenticity and vibe of the place. All the vegetables served were fresh and crispy! I loved it. 100/10! Will definitely come back. (Pro tip: Make a reservation!)

This restaurant was listed as a Michelin Bib star so decided to try out during dinner time. I came here with a friend during dinner time at 7pm. There are lot of people but we managed to get a table in about 10 min. The service here is a bit slow as there is a huge dinner crowd. It took more than 15 min before the staff noticed that we haven order and came to take our order. We ordered a pancake, seafood fried rice and also others. The pancake was really delicious with the rice paper and sauce. The fried rice was well cooked as well.

Followed the Michelin guide to this place. Ordered the recommended shrimp and pork pancake and it did not disappoint. The mixture of everything including the fresh vege wrapped with the rice papers, with the special sauce, it worked perfectly. And that’s the only thing we ordered, other than a can of special Saigon beer, as we were not hungry, and we were glad we did as the pancake serving was a big portion enough for two. The service was ok. There was one guy at the entrance attending to the new arrivals, and will inform if there is no table available. Table service was great too. The restaurant is located in the alley opposite to the Benh Thanh Market, and has a good vibe!

Bếp Mẹ In is one of those rare places that instantly makes you feel like you’ve stepped into everyday life in Ho Chi Minh City rather than a tourist stop. Located conveniently near the market, the restaurant buzzes with energy from morning until evening, filled with locals and visitors alike — a reassuring sign you’re in the right place. We ordered the bánh xèo, and it absolutely did not disappoint. Perfectly crisp on the outside, fragrant with turmeric, and generously filled, it struck that ideal balance between texture and flavor. Fresh herbs and greens accompanied the dish, making each bite vibrant, satisfying, and unmistakably Vietnamese. The quality of the ingredients really stood out — everything tasted fresh, well-prepared, and made with care. Despite how busy the restaurant gets, the service remains impressively fast and efficient. Orders come out quickly, staff stay attentive, and the flow of the place never feels chaotic. It’s the kind of organized bustle you only get when a restaurant truly knows what it’s doing. What makes Bếp Mẹ In special is how authentic the experience feels. Sitting there, surrounded by chatter, sizzling pans, and the rhythm of daily life, you genuinely feel like one of the locals. Great food, great energy, and consistently top-notch quality — a must-visit near the market.

Reserved a spot the day before and was seated upstairs (would recommend a reservation). First thing I noticed was that the table was a bit wobbly and that there doesn't seem like there was a place to put down our bags, though that is a minor detail. Many thanks to the waitress Vy who attended to our table promptly as well as the server who taught us how to properly eat the bahn xeo. Now on to the food, we ordered the Banh xeo, broken rice with grilled pork, and the fried pork in bamboo with white sesame. I'd recommend all of them but the Banh xeo is definitely a must try. Ask your waiter/server for the proper steps to eat the dish. The sauce also pairs well with it. As for the broken rice, we had to ask a waiter for a spoon which I think could be improved. (not sure if we were supposed to eat in some other way?) The sweet sauce (to be poured over the rice) also does make the food more appetising. Lastly, the fried pork was nice and the sauce made it even more delicious, but I think the sauce provided was too little. Still, overall experience was great. Food was served so fast I was not prepared.
