Berggasthof Schlüssel

Berggasthof Schlüssel is a real gem. The location is beautiful, the food is excellent, and the chef is very talented. The staff are friendly and helpful, and Herr Gundner is incredibly kind – he makes every visit special. I highly recommend this place!

This is a hidden gem with some of the best food in the region, great location and very good service. We go here often, although it is a 1h30m drive from our home.

Desserts really amazing. Mains very meaty and huge portions, not normally a complaint but left us very stuffed. Flavours in mains lacking anything special. Starters very good though.

Here's an update in addition to my review below from 2021: Spent the weekend there with friends of mine incl. rooms and 6-course dinner and a fanstatic breakfast the next day. This place is just simply amazing. The rooms (3-star standard) are newly renovated, immaculate and clean. Food, drinks and service were perfect as always. This place is simply superb! **************** Our first time here - seems to be pretty popular, for a good reason. It was packed on a Tuesday night. Sensational 5 course menu. Quite possibly the best venison I've ever had. Highly recommended!

I cannot rave enough about this hotel and restaurant! This is one of those hotels that makes you wanna quit your job and leave your family (just kidding) and live a peaceful life tucked into this hotel. The rooms are newly renovated so they look much better than on the pics, the whole place has a chalet style to it, spotless clean, the service is 5 stars, the food in the restaurant is Michelin worthy. I absolutely have no idea why it's so cheap. Right outside is a neighbors house with cute horses, and a small playground, so something for the little kids. The hotel is located on top of a hill so it's very serene. And the best thing, is the management /the owners. We spoke with both of them (it's a couple) and this is one on of those one in a million cases where the heart is in the right place and they've put nothing but love into this establishment. Insanely delicious food. Literally everything we tried was delicious. Prices were not that low, but portions were large, so totally worth it given the quality. Service was a tad slow but friendly and without issues. I highly recommend it. If you go, get the pulled pork burger (pictured). Thank me later.

Beautifully situated. Simple but sparkling clean rooms (en suite) with balcony overlooking the valley and adjacent hills. Friendly, we felt welcome. Special requests (vegan) gladly accommodated. Meals of the highest standards. Peaceful, lovely surrounding for walks, even in winter. Highly recommended for a relaxing time. Many thanks to the young couple.
