This cutlery establishment is renowned in the world. If you’re looking for a good place to try out some Japanese knives, look no further. After doing a lot of research and deciding to throw away my old $100 knife set that was already rusting, I decided to come in and look at some real knives.
After deciding that I wanted to go with a few Japanese knives, I came in, not knowing very much. The staff was extremely helpful and helping me decide what I wanted, and explaining to me, the benefits and cost associated with each kind of steel and help me find something in my price range.
On the left side of the wall, they have plenty of Japanese knives from good knife makers. On the right side, they have plenty of European knives if that’s what you’re into. They also have all the accessories you need. Should you want to sharpen or learn more about cutlery.
This is probably one of the only places in the Bay Area where you’re gonna actually be able to find some good knives, and hold them. They also offer a professional sharpening service, and they also teach classes on how to sharpen your own knives if that’s something you’re interested in.
Overall, this was a good experience. I highly recommend if you’re contemplating buying something online you at least come in here and talk to them and see what they have on display. You may be surprised about things you don’t know, and being able to hold and purchase a knife if you want is also a great experience.
The only feedback I would have is that parking, like most areas in San Francisco, is very difficult. They have street sweeping on random days and I got a ticket, but this wasn’t their fault.
