"Founded in 1889 and family-owned and operated by the Rizzo’s for three generations, Bernardo Winery is the oldest continuously operating winery in Southern California. A sampling of wines is $20 or pick out a glass to sip on the patio before exploring the village shops and artist studios on site." - Darlene Horn

Bernardo Winery offering a charming blend of history, rustic ambiance, and artisan shops. Its diverse selection includes bold reds, refreshing whites, and unique offerings. The wine tasting session is a must try, providing a great introduction to their best selections. Friendly staff enhance the experience with insights into the winery’s history. Light bites from the café pair well with the wines, while live music and events add to the atmosphere. A peaceful retreat with quality wines, it’s a must-visit in San Diego.

This charming winery, tucked away in a residential area of Escondido, truly felt like stepping into a secret haven. The old-town ambiance was charming, and the favorable comments we read online were spot on. The wine was exceptional, and the food was equally delicious. We were delighted by the complimentary chocolate pairings, a thoughtful touch. We tried their flights and went to the chocolate shop. We had a wonderful time and can't wait to go back. This is the kind of place where you could easily unwind & be relaxed, 😍. We're already planning our return. Btw, we visited on latte Dec.

Unfortunately a bit touristy (incl. souvenir store). What could be improved: food has to be ordered separately from the wine in another building (canteen-style). Wine is then ordered in the adjacent building and the food is delivered. A little more customer focus would go a long way here! Food was good...

We love the Bernardo Winery! It is one of our favorite places to relax for brunch or an early dinner. The ambience is unmatched. We’ve long since grown out of our college bar/party phase, so a visit here this is a fantastic way to decompress after a long week or to bring family and friends when they come into town. The food is excellent! The portion size for the fries is fantastic. I love to get a salad plus a side of fries to share with whoever I’m with, and maybe a pizza. The wine pours for the tastings are generous. The only thing I’ve ordered and not been crazy about was the bruschetta because it had olives and pistachio which I wasn’t a huge fan of. The best part about our visits to the Bernardo winery are walking around the shops after. It is incredibly romantic too! Especially during sunset. At night, there are outdoor heaters that make it very cozy too. If I could leave 10 stars I would!

Such a cute little gem tucked away in an unassuming spot! I was taken here for my birthday and we had a blast. There’s cute little shops to pop into for shopping and wine tasting area. We did the wine pairing and for each pour you walk across to the fudge shop and have a sample with your wine, it’s such an innovative way to get people to buy some sweet treats! There are also several food options so there’s something for everyone! The bathrooms are clean and there is a lot of seating spread out although group seating is a little harder to come by. Just a note for those who overheat the seating is mainly outdoor with no AC so it was quite hot for our summer visit and drinking wine, be sure to take advantage of the water station! The only reason for 4 instead of 5 stars is the layout of the wine tasting itself. They did not have designated staff for pouring and the area to pay and order your wine tasting/wines is connected to the pouring area so there was a lot of build up and people standing around trying to order. For those of us who already had or wine tasting cards having to walk back and forth through the groups and wait at the counter for someone to come over and pour us our next wine was inconvenient especially when your food is at your table but you want more wine. I think creating a different area to order/pay would help alleviate the confusion and help smooth out serving customers and reduce wait time (at time we were waiting 10-15 minutes for a tasting, we had 5 tastings to get through so this made it rough). Overall such a cute spot that has a secluded feel to do some wine tasting and hanging out with friends.

Google
Bernardo Winery is fantastic! I highly recommend visiting on a Sunday afternoon. The food is excellent; we enjoyed the salads, pizza, and fries. The winery is spacious, allowing you to stroll around and explore the unique buildings and vineyards. The atmosphere is charming, making it a perfect spot for a relaxing day out. Don't miss the chance to taste their wines and take in the beautiful surroundings. This place truly offers a delightful experience.

Visited this Diamond in the rough recently for a daytime driving event to celebrate a birthday. This place is very easy to find and is not far from the freeway exit. There is ample parking that is separated between a few lots on property. You will pass a few boutique shops as you drive in. Once you park and head in you feel like you’ve traveled back to a fancy western town. Quaint wooden buildings line small streets. They very Froom boutique clothing retailers, a sweet shop and a coffee roaster. There is a full restaurant on site and the tasting room is quite large. Lots of outside and inside seating at the tasting room. Glasses of most wines here are about $15, they have tasting flights which are a good deal and they give you discounts on take home bottles of the wines. Honestly the red sangria they serve in the tasting room is pretty amazing. Also you can share carafes of it which I highly recommend. The coffee shop and the sweet shop are fantastic. We didn’t get a chance to try the restaurant but everything looked great. We will be back for sure

Yelp
Cool and nice little winery hidden in the corner of Rancho Bernardo community. Great place to chill with friends and family. Vibe is great, drink and food are delicious. One of the places that I will go when friends come visit

Yelp
First time here today. It is an Open table concept. You order and pay INSIDE, grab your #, and server looks for you. It was a small space with not as many tables as I first thought. But we landed a great table. I ordered the carbonara. It photographed well. But taste was not as great as I expected. Over all, it was just too dry for me and I was hoping it'd have a bit more sauce? The Parmesan fries were ok. The best part was the vodka sauce to dip. Other than that, that's all I had and all I can comment on food wise. I had entertained the idea of wine to order with/while ordering just my food but I think the sign said wine orders only in the tasting room. Seemed off to me as it would have been most convenient to just be able to order together. I could be wrong about that process but that's how I took it based on signage. My sister had the beet and goat cheese salad with salmon as her protein choice. She loved it and ate all of it.

Yelp
Bernardo winery is such a quaint place to visit especially during the holiday season! They have carolers, a polar express mini train exhibit, glass blowing demo, food trucks, local vendors, village shops, and of course wine tasting!! I had the spiced mulled wine which was a hot drink. The flavors of all the spices and temperature of the drink made me feel warm. I also got the iced sangria and that was really fruity and light. The Xmas tree decor and lighting really brought the Xmas spirit. There were many fire pits and areas to sit and enjoy your wine and food. The carolers did a great job and performed at different areas. The polar express mini trains are a must see! Nicely done and can tell it took a long time to set up. There were many food trucks which included bbq, Asian cuisine, potato on a stick, etc. The village shops and local vendors offered many items to choose for holiday gifting.

Yelp
Thought this place looked weird when we pulled up but when you go around the corner you find a little village with people having a good time. The person at the counter was extremely nice and chatted us up for a bit. They also have a small selection of beer for us husbands tagging along with our wives on a wine date. Beautiful grounds.

Yelp
Bernardo Winery has been on my visit list for waaaay too long; so when my SIL asked me if I had any recommendations on where to celebrate her birthday-- I knew the exact spot . Listen up: Although ive never been to Bernardo Winery, I knew a lot about them because I had booked my bachelorette party here YEARS ago, but decided to cancel last minute for a destination bachelorette party instead . It's a huge beautiful location with lots of open-air seating and tall green trees . Parking lot is a little small, but there's plenty of street parking with a short walk . Seating is first come, first served-- so if you have a large group, id suggest to get there right at opening . We got lucky and found a nice shaded area to fit all 15 of us . This winery is more of a order first, pay, then find your seat type of place . WINE: The wine bar is fun because you walk into a cellar type of open room and order what youd like-- my husband and I opted for both red flights . The $20 red flight is more of red blends and are "just okay" in my opinion . The $30 flight contains pure red wines and tastes much better-- would recommend this one for seasoned red wine drinkers . They also offer a wine tasting cards that my SIL really enjoyed . Oh, and they also serve beer !! FOOD: Garlic fries are a great appetizer and super tasty . High quality French fries topped with parmesan dust and a few sprigs of parsley . It sounds basic, but is soooo bougie . It's served with a side of like tomato bisque or marinara for dipping-- SOOO GOOD . Great side to share and enjoy with wine ! Margherita Pizza was delicious as well . You can taste the homemade in this one-- classy, elegant, and a pleasure with some wine !! The pizza crust and dough itself was FIREEE . The first round of CUSTOMER SERVICE in the wine cellar was great; the younger woman employee was kind and welcoming . On the second round, I wanted her help me again, but others had requested her too . After waiting for a while, an older woman employee waved me over-- I didn't mention I was waiting for the other woman because I didn't want to be rude, so I let her assist me . The experience wasn't as good, but I'll give her the benefit of the doubt--maybe she was having a bad day . Overall, we had a great time and would return again in the future . I really enjoyed the small shops and walking environment . I also really loved the gelato from one of the shops, but I didn't get the name (pistachio was so yummy)! We spent the evening outside with good company . The wine and food came together beautifully, the atmosphere was bright and airy, and my SIL had a great birthday .

Yelp
I love this place! I first discovered this winery from a groupon for wine tasting. This winery is actually fairly close to home. It's super cute with lots of little shops all around. The wine is delicious and the restaurant has great food options. I have enjoyed everything I've tried. The cheese charcuterie board is really good. I usually order the Rigatoni and Vodka pasta dish. They can get pretty busy but service has always been good.

Yelp
Adorable spot for a ladies day! Plenty of parking upon arrival. You walk through a little street with restaurants and little stores on both sides. It's like its own mini city. I went here with few of my girlfriends on a Friday afternoon, and lots of people had the same idea as us as it was pretty busy! My friends and I all did the wine tastings which is explained to you inside by one of the wine experts. I really appreciated the thorough and detailed explanation of the wines. We sat on the outside patio since the weather was warm. Oh and depending on what lines you taste, you can also receive complimentary chocolate to pair with your wine at the chocolate store next door! Highly recommend for perfect ladies day!

Jasmine G.

Yelp
I came here for the Friday morning Farmer's Market (9am-1pm) and enjoyed all of the different vendors. I started out with coffee at Manzanita Roasters, which was good, they offer a variety of breakfast options and pastries. I had lunch at the Kitchen, which offered appetizers, wood fire pizzas, pastas, & salad. Stopped in for Gelato, which is brought in fresh and it was delicious! Service was good everywhere we went. The grounds are lovely and I will for sure be back!

Yelp
Wow! This place is the real deal. I guess it would have to be since it's over hundred years old . This place is so well established all of the existing buildings are Barn like, old and weathered charming and whimsical with little specialty stores here and there clothing stores chocolate store, a little gift store, which I found some very unique olive oil and scented candles. The wine is actually pretty good. The staff members love to talk about the history, which I think is amazing. This place is really worth it to come and visit. lots of beautiful full-grown trees, and flowers everywhere. We did not have any of the food that was offered, but it all looked so delicious. Very dog friendly.

Julie T.

Yelp
Such a fun place to visit. Not only is this a wonderful winery, but there is an entire collection of cute shops, a restaurant, and a coffee house. The people working here are friendly and knowledgeable. I can't speak to the food in their restaurant as we came just for the wine, but the next I pop in, I may grab a bite. They do have an amazing looking pizza oven. How are the wines? The hubby and I both did a red flight, and we really enjoyed their offerings. So the wine is a very good quality. It's definitely a great place to spent the afternoon.

Caro P.

Yelp
Cannot believe it took me this long as a local to visit this place. It is an absolute gem! It's like stepping into a charming little village, perfect for kicking off a weekend getaway. The atmosphere was so laid-back, with a rustic vibe that makes you feel like you're a world away from the city. Wandering through the shops and exploring the grounds was a treat. One of the highlights was stumbling upon Atticus, the cutest art figurine store -- full of unique and quirky pieces that added a fun, creative touch to the whole experience. Whether you're a wine lover or just looking for a relaxing spot to unwind, Bernardo Winery is a must-visit!

Yelp
September 2023, I visited the winery for the second time. The first time was in 2016 and I always remembered this amazing place. In September 2023, the layout had changed but everything seemed better. We ordered a charcuterie board, a wine flight and a pitcher of Sangria. Just sitting outside, eating and drinking was so relaxing. The customer service was shaky but ended well. Unfortunately the first worker (older woman) working on the right when you entered in the Tasting Room shop was not helpful at all. Her spirit was off to me. However, the younger woman on the end was very pleasant and had a genuine desire to assist. I don't know the names but I always remember the faces.

Tina A.

Yelp
I don't know why I have never been here. My bestie took me here for an early birthday gift. It was the most amazing day! The grounds are beautiful and well kept, and if I ever thought about getting married again, I would choose this little gem. All the little shops nestled in between cute buildings and places to sit are beautiful. The winery itself was nice inside. Very spacious. We sat on couches with pillows and ordered a flight of wines. For $20, each glass gives you a glass and a half. They also offer art and mosaic classes. My friend and I are signing up.

Sarah A.

Yelp
We came here for a late birthday celebration and wow! I wish I'd came here sooner. We chose the wine flights, i can't remember the names, but it was A-C and they were delicious. Each flight was $20ea which isn't too bad in my opinion. The kind lady that served us was so knowledgeable and helpful. It is so so nice here and they have surrounding shops that add to it quite nicely. They offer a free chocolate pairing with your third glass from each flight from the gelato & chocolate shop which was a nice surprise. They also are able to do weddings here! I'll definitely have to be coming back here more often!

Shirley O.

Yelp
This is a lovely place to spend a leisurely afternoon. We specifically came for the arts and crafts fair which included many local vendors selling their products. The grounds are well maintained with a number of small eateries and shops. There is a tasting room. We did not try any wine and they were not serving any wine flights during the fair. I would return to try their wine. The place was very busy because of the fair and customers were enjoying bottles of wine.

Mei T.

Yelp
I attended the fair at Bernardo Winery with my MeetUp Fun Diego Ladies group and we had a really great time. I never realized there was such a beautiful winery so close by. It's like a small village with boutiques and eateries. I'll have to come back and do more exploring! They have a Christmas Holiday Nights here so I look forward to returning in a few weeks!

Ernesto S.

Yelp
We had seen photos of this place on social media and would always say, "We should go there." Well, it happened! It was very spontaneous, which made it that much more exciting and enjoyable. I was very impressed with this hidden treasure in our own backyard. It had an Old Town feel, charming with a ton of personality. We had dinner while sampling wine. The salmon was perfectly cooked and tasted fresh. It wasn't dry. The salad was fresh and flavourful and the Margherita pizza took me back to Naples.

Evelyn A.

Yelp
I love this place. It's so cute, the ambience is great, the food is superb, and the people are nice. My only wishlist item would be for more affordable prices. I can't go all the time because of that but I'm willing to spend every once in a while and this place is worth it. I brought my college friend from LA last month and she loved it too!

Denise A.

Yelp
What a lovely spot! -with extremely hospitable and friendly staff. I was lured by a Yelp event invite and glad I was able to attend. I thoroughly enjoyed the gratis glass of Chardonnay, I went ahead and ordered one to enjoy during the fun scavenger the winery staff put together. Yelp guests were also invited to tasty gratis lite bites of spreads/dips, cheeses, fruit, etc. The scavenger the winery staff put together was fun. The property has an open & airy tasting room, several eateries, a brewery, a dessert shoppe, art studio, cute candle shop, fitness studio, women's gorgeous accessory shop and various retail shops. The staff across this property are very welcoming. There's lots to explore with cute lounging areas and eye candy. I highly recommend this venue for a day adventure and/or magical events.

Tom P.

Yelp
Always an enjoyable place to lunch and share a bottle of wine! Only comment is the fly situation is out of control in the eating area.

Janeth A.

Yelp
Such a cute winery! It's a small, but adorable winery nestled in between residential areas. It's a little hidden but once you find it, it's easy to locate parking areas and such. I tried a glass of their Chablis and it was lovely! We also tried the restaurant and had their bruschetta, which was unique because of the pistachios on it --yum!! And a stone fired pizza. The environment of the winery is so serene and quiet. It's a beautiful place for a stroll, brunch with friends, and of course wine tasting.

Adriana A.

Yelp
This winery in Rancho Bernardo felt like walking into a tiny little village full of greenery. It was lovely to walk around with a glass of wine in hand and to take in all of the beauty. I enjoyed a glass of rosé with some pesto pasta. My coworkers enjoyed their wine tastings as well. We loved that each wine could be paired with a complementary chocolate. I would love to come back as the weather starts to warm up

John L.

Yelp
We have been here with family or friends on several occasions, including holiday events. The holiday events are nice, and the setup of little shops around the winery is very quaint and comfortable to walk around. We have brought my mother (who does not drink wine) with us on several occasions as it has a very rustic, relaxed feeling, and she can shop. The coffee house on site is great by the way (I forget the name), but they have very good roast and specialty coffees, and have always been super friendly, even during the pandemic. The only reason for the 3-star rating is the service at the wine bar... the wines are decent to ok, and typically everyone in our group(s) can find something they like after a tasting, and then buy a glass to either enjoy with lunch or to walk around. However, some of the serving staff are not great at making you feel welcome and will often bypass us when we have been standing there waiting our turn, and go help someone that just walked up because they're "regulars". I'm sure those people appreciate the preferential treatment, but I think of a wine bar as "first come, first served". I don't expect pouring wine to be a chore, but some folks seem almost put out that you want to order a drink. I normally find that a friendly smile goes a long way, but not here.

Ana F.

Yelp
We came here last Sunday by us simply looking for a place to have brunch. It was a surprise when we found out it was an actual winery. It has something for all. There is a restaurant that serves amazing pizza that's freshly made out of a pizza oven. The Salume pizza was topped with large pieces of salami and diced mushrooms. The crust had a soft yet slightly burnt crust but in a good way that fire does to crust and we also had some arancini balls. The outside was crispy and the inside soft yellow risotto with peas, carrots, cheese and meat. We did have to go elsewhere to get the wine. I went a few steps to the tasting room which had many flight options but we chose the sangria special. A carafe for $35 so we chose that. So tasty and refreshing on a warm day. Sweet sangria hit the spot . While I was in the Tasting Room the lady told me some history of the winery and how they survived the prohibition. A cool story btw. I leave that for her to tell you. There were cute little shops throughout the winery and a coffee shop that I will try some day and a Sweet Shop where if you bring your wine there she will pair it with a piece of chocolate. She was spot on with pairing our sangria with a piece of dark chocolate . I mean since I was there I might as well try a dessert and we chose the tiramisu cup. If I had to critique it I would say it was a bit too wet but the taste was good. It did need more of an espresso taste to it. It was too subtle for me. I would not try that one again but I will try something else that looked good there. Many places to sit and have your wine. I almost forgot to mention they also have a museum there where you can go and sit in a horse wagon ....photo opportunity. I would definitely go again After lunch we walked around and saw the grounds and noticed you can have parties there and beautiful flowers and old machinery you can view . Pretty cool place

Yelp
I decided to update my review, as I have not written a review on Bernardo Winery in over ten years. I have been back several times since, as I usually get there about once a year. Most recently, I was there with a friend of mine on a chilly Friday evening after work and we had a wonderful time. They are open until 8:00 PM on Fridays, making it a nice place to go if you can there there in the late afternoon/early evening. Also, in January, it is not very crowded, but still the shops, restaurant, and tasting room are open. Anyway, I pulled into the small parking lot, right around 5 PM and found a spot right away. I was able to browse through two of the shops while I waited for my friend, and we browsed through the rest together after she arrived. They have a really lovely shop with paintings, sculptures, and other crafts from local artists. It would be a great place to buy gifts. What I really like about this winery, is that you can get a glass of wine, and then walk around the different shops. It was interesting that in the winter they have both sangria and mulled wine. My friend had one of each. I had two different glasses of red wine. I had the Syrah and another, but I cannot remember which. The wine was decent, but probably not my favorite of the nearby wineries. We also had dinner while we were there. We both had the smoked salmon served over bean salad which was really delicious. I would definitely order that again. My favorite part was having different fire pits and heat lamps to sit by, creating a very peaceful evening to sit and catch up with my friend. I do think the wine is a bit pricey in comparison with other local wineries. I also saw that they do not allow dogs. I don't really understand why, as it is basically all outdoors. All in all, I had a lovely time, and look forward to returning.

Lisa D.

Yelp
Such a lovely atmosphere with fun little shops to peruse! Their wine is delicious and pairs so well with their bruschetta (MUST get!). Our favorite is the primavera rosado, this is SO easy to drink, tart and sweet, everything I want in a summer wine they also host annual events for vendors around Mother's Day which was a really fun event!

Nachelle M.

Yelp
The staff, service, food, wine, atmosphere, and little shops were amazing!! If this place wasn't so out of the way, it would be my go to place for italian food. We first went to the wine tasting area where we got a wine flight. They have a wide range of wines- despite my party's varied taste in wine, we all liked their wine selection. We bought charcuterie and the wood fired ciabatta board at the kitchen and brought it back to the tasting area. The bread was made fresh and it was piping hot. Their mix of charcuterie was interesting and paired well with the wines that we got. After wine tasting, we booked the gazebo because we had a large party and we were able to decorate. Everything we got from the kitchen was delicious and cooked perfectly!! Members of our party visit Italy often and the quality of some of the food reminded them of Italy! My favorite was the lasagna. The pasta was cooked perfectly Al dente and the meat/sauce/pasta ratio was one of the best I've tasted in San Diego! A close second was the fettucine & carbonara. They said that they make their pasta fresh daily and you can tell when you taste it. Overall, a great place to visit for any occasion. We got a ton of pictures with the winery vibe and the food was surprisingly delicious!

Your Resident Foodie R.

Yelp
I went here for a bachelorette dinner last week and it was a lovely time! The ambiance is great, the wine and food were delicious, and the bartender was super nice. I had their moscato that just debuted last week and I highly recommend it! Other people in my group got the flight that comes with a white, rose, and red; and they enjoyed that as well. We also shared some appetizers: a Caesar salad, a bruschetta, a ciabatta board with ricotta and goat cheese, and the truffle Parmesan fries. Everything was delicious, but I'd 10/10 recommend the cheese dip and the moscato. The only thing that would have been a nice addition is some sort of patio fan in the summer when it's so warm out.

Sherry B.

Yelp
So disappointed with the level of maturity their staff have at the Kitchen and answering the phone. This used to be our go to place, and we've always had events here. But lately they are lacking on their customer service skills. Staff is very rude and condescending.

Emma S.

Yelp
Having lived in San Diego my entire life, I regret that I have never been to the Bernardo Winery until last weekend. 5 weeks before I move out of state.... My sister, my cousin and I like sweet wines and were happy to see that they had a sweet flight available. The wines that we received got better the further along we went in the tasting and my cousin and I wound up buying a couple of bottles of wine each We are both fans of port and thought we'd try a flight of those. Oh boy! Ummmmm I guess we are used to the sweet syrupy ones one gets at the grocery store. This WAS NOT that! I felt like i was getting a menopausal hot flash from it but that wasn't it. Beware! This is not ghetto supermarket port!! The lady behind the counter that helped us was very informative and helpful Super cute atmosphere and I love the winery kitty!!

Susan R.

Yelp
My friend and I went for an outing for a tasting and had very friendly and knowledgeable staff to help us decide what to taste. They offer many options, which was nice. We were very pleased with the 3 wines that we had, and glasses of wine are also a good option. It wasn't too busy and we had a wonderful time looking in the Icarus gift shop..very pleasant atmosphere and we always enjoy the excellent wines.

Chaudhry A.

Yelp
You are talking when you are here. Unless I heard myself saying "now I'm talking" , the moment I found it among a neighborhood and then walked into it from parking. Must have been a nice ranch in its prime, however, besides the ruins, it's a brand new winery. They offer add-on deals of tastings towards purchases. Come for an hour and might ending up spending the whole day here.

Elizabeth H.

Yelp
The Kitchen had excellent food with large portions. Wine tasting flight with great descriptions along with a free chocolate pairing at a chocolate shop there in the village was fun. The docent at the museum was fascinating and I loved hearing her stories. Thank you Skip H! The design and layout of the Bernardo winery village was magical. Loved visiting the shops and the small open air market where we found yummy chips and salsa for later in the day!

Lynn H.

Yelp
Great setting for a relaxing wine and charcuterie occasion! Our board had a nice selection of meats and cheeses accompanied with nuts and dried fruits. We added a nice loaf of baked to order bread and enjoyed our wine flights. I'll definitely return for some shopping next time!

Joy Z.

Yelp
Beautiful venue to meet friends for dinner and wine or dessert and wine. Also cute places to shop or just walk around and hang out.

Yelp
Super cozy with plenty of seating and cute shops. The charcuterie board was a great accompaniment to the wine flights we got.

Yelp
Originally opened in 1889, the Bernardo Winery boasts itself as San Diego's (and one of California's) oldest vineyards and it's easy to see why the wine business has been going strong for over 150 years here. The owners have truly made Bernado Winery a destination for locals and tourists alike. Nestled in the middle of a subdivision, this literal neighborhood vineyard offers something for every visitor - wine a plenty, dining, shopping, and history. I opted for a tasting during my visit (and the pours are generous yall) and ended up walking out of there with two bottles of their California sparkling and a bottle of the Viognier. I also had a charcuterie board (and it may go down in history as one of my all time fave boards). Be sure to take some time to explore the property and its historical structures and equipment detailing the history of the vineyard and antique wine production methods. It's a bit of a trip outside of downtown San Diego but worth the visit!

Yelp
Super fun time today at the fall arts & craft festival. So many people went that I did street parking instead of trying to fit in their lot, but people were coming and going so it was not too bad. It's beautiful here, and there's tons of shade. They had lots of vendors and I scored some excellent jewelry. Because it was a festival, they weren't doing tasting of wine, but only by the glass. I got the Primavera Rosado, their sweeter rose. Very delicious and perfect for a hot day. It was $12 for a nice glass - would be $33-ish by the bottle. The least exciting thing here was the food. The pasta and pizza from their own kitchen had the longest line - the pizza was going to take a long time ($20 for a mini) so I got pasta for $16. Not very exciting at all. But it enabled me to eat and keep shopping. The booths they had from outside vendors (mediterranean, thai, mexican &&) were much quicker but I didn't see where they were at first. Super fun festival, and I hope to remember to come back next year. And I'm glad to know this is here - I'd love to come wine tasting another time when it's calmer! A lot closer than Temecula and very tasty.

Yelp
Bernardo Winery is a charming winery / craft village serving Italian food and affordable wine flights. We had the red and white flights alongside a vegan veggie pizza, margarita pizza and bruschetta. We love the cozy but casual ambiance and artists Village featuring local craftsman. A great spot for a summer hang

Yelp
This is a very cute winery to visit. The shops and history around it make it a must visit for an afternoon lunch with wine. I recently tried their chablis. I prefer more dry wines, so this one was a little too sweet. Their chardonnay, though, is tasty. Had to get 2 glasses. Perfect pairing for their pizza. Pro tip, ask for more pizza sauce on the side to dip that crust into! Delicious.

Yelp
Love this place! I am so happy we live locally and can come here often. The ambiance is so relaxing and tranquil that it's easily somewhere to spend a few hours chatting, drinking, and enjoying delicious food with friends. Our favorite wine is a sweet white, tramonto. I highly recommend for anyone who likes sweeter wines or is a pretend wine drinker like me. On the food side, all of the pizzas are delicious as are the parmesan fries. The bruschetta is also very good, and is definitely sizable (better for sharing, otherwise you will likely easily get full unless you're very hungry). When the winery restaurant used to do breakfast on the weekends, that was so delicious too! I'm sad they don't offer breakfast any more (to my knowledge). Their blood orange mimosa was to die for!

Yelp
The place is so cute, what a nice day date. The rose we got was almost like an adult juice It was so sweet but also sparkling, we loved It. The pizza was amazing, if you like doughy crust. This is for you! And to be able to walk around in to the tiny stores was a treat. Really enjoyed

Yelp
All of the experience of the Temecula wine country...none of the long drive!!! The Bernando Winery is a quick drive to Rancho Bernardo area. This was our first time, so we didn't know what to expect. We visited on a Friday at about noon. There was a mini farmers market going on in the parking lot. The main parking lot was full so we parked on the street. There is a ton of street parking available. The property is very cute and really has that country winery feel, even though you are right in the middle of residential housing. There are several little shops, including a sweet shop that has chocolates and gelato! There is also a full restaurant called "The Kitchen" that was packed! We did not eat here, but we could see everyone's food and it looked amazing. We will be visiting again for sure to check that out! There was a celebration of life going on, so I was not able to view all of the event spaces. We did however visit the Tasting Room. The staff was very friendly and we enjoyed making conversation with them. My wife did try a "Sweet Flight" This included Oro Di Bernardo, 2022 Vinvenzo Rosado and 2022 Tramonto 3 tastings for about $20. Pretty good value compared to other tastings we have done. We ended up taking a bottle of Vinvenzo Rosado home! This was a very short trip for us. We were in the area and just wanted to check it out. Definitely hits the feel for a great wine tasting experience and the best part, it's right here in San Diego! Can't wait to visit again soon.

Yelp
I recently hosted my sister's baby shower at Bernardo Winery by renting the Gazebo, which is a semi-private space. The ambiance, food, & wine were all perfect. When you book the Gazebo they are pretty clear that you don't get any service or help (you need to order all your food at The Kitchen's counter). I was surprised at how much help they did offer though. I was able to communicate with Ally (Food & Beverage Manager) in advance to confirm recommended portion quantities and then the day of The Kitchen provided staff to help wipe tables & bus the tables. Overall, I'm super pleased and would recommend it!

Yelp
Perfect location for an afternoon. The property is beautiful. The stores interesting and nicely priced. The winery staff was not only knowledgeable but very personable. They answered all of our questions, no question too silly, and made us feel very welcome. There is plenty of pleasant places to sit and enjoy your wine. We did not try the food but it smelled delicious! My next trip to San Diego, this will be a must stop. The whole family had a relaxing and enjoyable weekend.

Yelp
I always wanted to be a wine girly but never really knew what I liked. I tried so many different wines here and I think I can finally say I might have been converted to a wine girly now and I really like the chablis. This place was a hidden gem located in the middle of a neighborhood! The parking lot was pretty small but lots of parking out in the neighborhood to walk in. I would definitely recommend this place!

Yelp
10/10 We got some flatbreads, a charcuterie board, and a few flights. Definitely got very tipsy and walked around the little village and checked out the shops for the rest of the afternoon. Lots of seating, not a traditional vineyard but was well worth visiting. Had a wonderful time. Would recommend the white wines - don't think we liked any of the reds.
