The Best-Value Restaurants in East London Are Cheap, But Not Cheap Eats | Eater London
"The Shepherd’s Inn pub on Leytonstone High Road is Lithuanian chain Berneliu Uzeiga’s first inroad into east London’s considerable Lithuanian demographic, and the incongruous mix of cultures produces an old man’s pub with decor somewhere between a castle and a school holiday chalet: lurid pink-orange walls, plush benches, melancholy Lithuanian electro-trash, and Guy Fieri on the TV. It’s a riot. Lithuanian cuisine is an exercise in how many combinations of pork, potato, and dairy it’s possible to eat before exhaustion sets in — with enough sauerkraut and beetroot horseradish, the answer is “all of them.” Cepelinai — little zeppelin balloon dumplings — come stuffed with pork or cheese curds, the potato casing providing a proper QQ texture, with a genius chopped bacon and onion condiment on the side; crispy potato pancakes stuffed with mince sit on a blanket of sour cream. A bland pork shank is worth ordering just for mashed potato, that comes whipped and encased by re-hardened molten cheese, better eaten with pork loin slices charred with onions and paprika. Best and most evil of all, soldiers of brown toast rubbed with garlic and covered in a snowstorm of grated cheese. This is cuffing season food." - Jonathan Nunn
Excellent menu with varied choices if you love Lithuanian cuisine. It is a big menu but clearly laid out with pictures and descriptions. The Beetroot and the meat soups were wonderful and flavoursome. The Pigsears and the potato salad for starters were nice. The pork knuckle with cheesy mash and sauerkraut was excellent. The pork loin schnitzel with chips and salad was good too. The staff are very friendly and attentive. The service was great, and the interiors reminded us of an european tavern. It's a big place with a bar.

Ordered on just eat and this was lovely! Arrived super quickly (granted the soup is cold so I'm sure didn't take too long) and tasted lovely.
Somewhat glad I don't live locally otherwise I'd gain a few pounds and have no money left.

We came all the way from Melton Mowbray by recommendation from the friends to try this restaurant. I'm glad we did, cepelinai was delicious, big portion. Definitely recommend it to the friends and family, will be back there soon.

The food was very good. It was my first time eating Lithuanian food, it was very tasty, absolutely loved the soups. Fish was just ok. Service could've been better. Overall very satisfied.

We have been a few times and the food is wonderful! They have a wonderful traditional Lithuanian atmosphere and live music some weekends. Everyone must try the Cepelinais and the cold beetroot soup (voted generally as the best cold soup in the world!)

Had the most amazing meal here, big portions, amazing service. The Pork Loin escalope was amazing, the mushroom sauce was beyond amazing. The dressing on the side salad was out of this world, cannot wait to visit this restaurant again!
