My parents are in town and we decided to try a new burger place. Picked Bernie's as I had seen them on the top 12 burger places for the area.
We were extremely impressed!
The only con was the place is a bit noisy since they have concrete floors and basically nothing to absorb sound.
Now to the good. The food is amazing!
I had a Cheerleader and it was cooked perfectly medium well as I ordered. And the onion rings, until now the best onion rings, IMO, were Sonic. Now it's Bernie's. They were absolutely perfectly cooked and had a nice, crunchy texture and the flavor was awesome. All of our burgers were perfectly cooked.
The fries were great and plentiful. And their aioli was some of the best I've tasted.
They make everything from scratch, including the ketchup and mustard. You could just look at the ketchup and tell it was not your average, store bought. Nice, dark red color and just the right thickness.
Their iced tea was delicious. Many restaurants have basically colored water for tea. Bernie's tea is strong enough to know you're drinking tea.
The service was excellent and at the end of the meal the manager came over to chat with us. He gave us a brief history of the place and how it got it's name. Explained about the home-made everything.
We will definitely be going back, this is our new favorite burger place in Houston.
