Bern's & the beans

We came for Sunday brunch but I noticed that they had a Roast on the menu and got that instead. Roast pork belly with all of the trimmings and incredible roast potatoes. Honestly one of the best roasts I’ve had! I’ve tried others in pubs around the village and been disappointed in the past. I will be coming back on Sunday again for sure. Only thing I would say is it might be easier to take orders at the table as it was a lot of up and down to get to the counter.

This is my go to for working remotely! Coffee, toasties and staff doesn't ever disappoint. I've also tried the weekend brunch and the Sunday roast and they're 10/10. Definitely my favourite local spot.

The food and coffee were delicious including the pumpkin curry soup! The staff were so friendly and even gave us a free pumpkin for Halloween! The whole team had made such an effort with Halloween decorations to make it extra special! Thank you! We will definitely visit again!

A lovely friendly cafe by day and bar by evening. First visit since it changed ownership. The family who run this business were lovely and so helpful. The coffee was excellent; steaming hot, rich and a good size cup for a fair price. We had some toasted sandwiches and a huge light blueberry muffin, all very tasty. We will definitely come back and hope to try out the recommended HM vegetarian sausage rolls, if not sold out! and to try the cocktails in the evening.

Spent £23 (!!) on two baguettes and waited 45 minutes for them. At which point we had to take them away as my husband had to rush home for a meeting. We weren’t the only customers in this situation. This is the second time we’ve had an extremely long wait for food, thankfully this time our 2 year old wasn’t with us. Food is nice but over priced and wait times are a real problem.

Lovely bar/cafe housed in what was a leather factory back in the 60's. There is often a deal on, when we went 2 4 1 prosecco for £8.00. Tapas soon to be on the menu. Family run, the owners son makes his own sausage rolls as well as being the chef. Great range of cocktails. Opens early for coffee, 8am, although they are still working on the exact opening hours. A locally run business which isn't part of a chain! Brilliant.

3.5/5 overall. Nice setting and ok food and coffee, but the prices are too high for the quality. It replaced a cheese shop that did the most amazing toasted sandwiches with quality cheese. Unfortunately the prices are higher and the ingredients lower standard. Would love for this place to thrive and survive against the new Gail's opening a few doors down, but would need to improve the quality and lower the prices a touch to tempt me back.

Sadly, for such nice staff, the good is overpriced and quite cheap in quality. The chorizo bake had fairly poor cuts of chorizo, and was floating in a peculiar liquid. Not a fan of the eggs either, they were bargain basement ones (pale in colour and no real flavour). Coffee is quite watery too - much better options in the village.
