Besito Mexican Restaurant

This restaurant is amazing, beautiful, and the food is good is what I would say if I only read the reviews. The reviews are very misleading and the most stars this restaurant deserves is 2-3. Definetly not five stars or perfect but not one either, thats way too harsh. Food wasn't too good and felt wet and soggy. My food was obviously reheated when I got it and it tasted super unseasoned. On the good side, drinks werent too bad and I enjoyed the chips. Service was pretty bad but atleast the food came fast - probably because the food was reheated. They were pretty nice but also it felt disorganized and uncoordinated. Maybe it was just the people who served me but my experience wasn't too good. Even though there were cons, service wasn't too bad. Atmosphere was also not that good, decoration felt cheap and when I walked in it definitely didn't feel like a five star experience. Also the bathroom wasn't too clean and there was water on the floors and mirrors. In conclusion, I feel like this place looks good on the outside, especially with the reviews but definitely not a five star experience. The atmosphere wasnt too good and the food felt soggy and cold - definitely bad presentation. I wouldn't recommend going because me myself would never come back.

came here once before with my mom and loved it so much, about a year later i was able to come back with my boyfriend for my birthday and was really disappointed. we ordered nachos as our appetizer and we got 2 entrees, i believe he got the carne asada tacos and i got the tampiquena asada. my boyfriend enjoyed his food, however when i went to eat my food, i smelt something off with my steak, i thought maybe it was just the marinade they use, however when i ate it it did not taste right either, tasted as if it was old/had gone rotten. my rice was crunchy and the cheese empanada that came with it had a sauce on it that tasted like spaghetti sauce. we ordered the chicken nachos as an appetizer and we got it after our food had arrived, just to find out the person who was supposed to bring it out left mid shift and forgotten about it and so i assume our nachos were just sitting there before it was handed out to us, they were good tho so no complaints and they did end up comping it off for us. we got horchatas as our beverage and it was really good. our waitress came over maybe once or twice, nothing special with the service. when it came to charging us out, they said my boyfriends card declined however when we got home we saw they had charged us twice and the bank had to refund it to him. i do not think well be back again.

Our 2nd time there. We live in Key West and just had to come back! We got the guacamole made fresh at the table, all the salsa's w Queso appetizer, the chips there are light and crisp, stuffed Padlano w melted cheese and a Mole sauce and to top it off a Tequila tower! Great service too!!

This was our first time to Besito. We just happened to find it while exploring and decided to check it out. It was a great experience. The food was all so good. We ordered the fresh made at your table guacamole which was so good with the fresh chips. I got the tacos and my wife got the fish if the day. We also had to get the margaritas. The food was all so good and we wish we lived closer so we could come back soon. Our kids really enjoyed it also.

Food was well presented, great portions and quick. Meat was cooked to perfection and Bibi and Jorge were great. Will definitely go back.

Nice place, like the decor and clean. Had the fried shrimp tacos and classic margarita for lunch. A bit stingy on the shrimp at $17.95! No chips offered but good mini churros at end on the house .

My Wife and I brought our Grandkids to Busch Gardens for the weekend and thought this would be a good place to kick-off our weekend. Overall, it's a nice place. Ambience is the strong point. Inside and out, it's very attractive. The menu isn't huge but we all had no problem finding something. Our margaritas were good but small. Service was great. The problem was the food quality. All entrees had the same problem, meats were overcooked. Chicken, steak and chorizo were all dry and tough. A shame really, since everything else was rather good. Pricing is on the high side, especially taking the food quality into consideration.

We came here for a birthday party. The food was good and the service by Jorge was also professional and fast. Give Jorge a raise for being able to remember all of the dinner items and drinks for a party of almost 20 people without getting anything wrong. I’ll definitely come back with just my wife for a better experience.

My wife and I love this place! The frozen margaritas are amazingly good! Food is fantastic as well. Would definitely suggest this place. It's a lively and fun vibe. Also the bartender named Marina is the best! She is attentive, hardworking and so kind. We always look forward to going back.

Food was great, decently priced with large portions. Best was the people though. Our wateress' name was Ana. Recommended the iron skillet mixto with shrimp.. read my mind. I'm here on business and don't know the Tampa area very well- pointed me in the right direction for her favorite beach. Manager was also super nice. Vibe was great, music was excellent, nice quiet scenery by the fountain. 10/10. If ever in Tampa, I'll be back!

Luis is a great server. Really knows the menu. Helped me figure out what I wanted since I can't eat dairy! Food was really good. Ambiance is sorta loud but a conversation can be held.

Been looking for good Mexican in tampa and we were a little disappointed. Service was sub par as the waitress felt in a hurry and wouldn't let us really speak. There were maybe 4 people there at the time so not sure the rush. On top of not really checking in on us. No tables were cleaned off. You would think after a table leaves they would want to clean off food or empty glasses but the whole time we were there they also stayed there as birds ate away to the leftovers. Food was good nothing special and margs were weak but priced well for happy hour. We got churros at the end of the meal that were not fresh I'm guessing made a few days prior since we had difficulty biting into them. I will say the space is beautiful and outdoor patio was lovely. That was my favorite part of the experience.

The atmosphere is fabulous. The host greeted us and seated us promptly. Our server, Carmen, had a gentle spirit and did a great job. I ordered from the casual lunch menu - two carnitas tacos, tortilla soup with a soda. Delicious and filling. The surprise at the end was we received churros... WHAT!!! Delicious.

Came in for a business lunch. We made reservations ahead of time however they weren't busy during the lunch time hour. Staff was friendly and attentive even with our large party of 8. We started off with the table side guacamole. The guac was delicious and even better were the chips! I ordered the chicken burrito as my entree. It was good but spicy which I didn't know until I took my first bite. Overall good food and experience.

This is a review for future Christina so I remember what I like. We got a dinner for four in a silent auction so I ended up trying a lot more than I normally would. Here is what I got and what I thought. Mango margarita, delicious and normally would be my go to, but instead I also tried a call me an uber and fell in love. You can taste the smokiness of the chipotle simple syrup. 10/10 get this drink every time. We had the table side guacamole and it is definitely one of my favs. I absolutely want to get it every time. The indestructible nachos were good, but huge and not really my style. That could be someone's entire dinner. We also got the birria sliders, which everyone else at the table loved. I thought it was just ok. The yucca fries that it came with were delicious though. For my main I got the pescado. I wasn't a huge fan, I found it to be slathered in too much sauce that was too sweet. I also didn't like the sweet potatoes. My husband got the steak bourbon mezcal and that was delicious. We got a taste of every dessert and the flan was my favorite. I don't have a major sweet tooth though so I probably won't get dessert next time if I have a choice. This restaurant is huge so there's no problem getting a table. I love it and would highly recommend it.

Great experience. This was our first visit. We had a group of 20 and our waiter Andres was fantastic. All orders came out at the same time and everyone enjoyed their meal. I had the fish tacos and corn elote. It was delicious. Oh and the house salsa was delicious with its smokey flavor. Thanks for a great dining experience Andres!

Amazingly good! The food was absolutely delicious. I had the Baja fish tacos the best I've ever had. The Mezcal passionate fruit drink was delicious and the bartender was so friendly, and attentive. Highly recommend. Ambiance very nice and clean.

Bestito was fantastic! My wife and stopped in after a movie, and the food and service were great. Jody served us and was incredible. We will be back for sure

We stopped into Besito while traveling home from a trip. The restaurant was really nice and had a great patio. We were seated near the fountain and had a great time. We ordered an enchilada and extra rice and beans. The flavors were delicious and so fresh. The only con I have is they don't give complementary chips and salsa. One neat thing they did do though was to provide churros at the end of the meal! Overall a good place to visit.

Overall: I went here on a Monday evening while on a work trip. Given the overall positive reviews I had read, I expected some delicious food, even if the place was quiet on a Monday. I don't know what other people were reviewing, but I don't think I got the same experience that they did. The restaurant is actually attached to a mall, which was quite empty. The food was cold and mediocre, which only looked good when compared to the service. I can't imagine I'll go back. Food: 2 Drink: 2 Service: 2 Value: 3 Atmosphere: 2 Food: I ordered the chicken flautas and the 'Mixto' fajitas. The flautas had good flavor but came out completely cold. If they had been fresh and warm it might have been a good dish, but overall it fell flat. The fajitas were also disappointing. They were hardly what I would consider traditional fajitas - several types of meat came out on a bed of sauce and a giant clump of partially melted cheese. It tasted ok, but the sauce and cheese overpowered everything. Plus the three soggy tortillas didn't help much. Drink: Unless you want tequila, everything is pretty limited. They have a couple of Mexican beers on draught and then a few cans. Otherwise, nothing spectacular. Service: I sat at the bar. The bartender serving me was generally distracted with her phone and other workers. She only asked me about my food right as it was being served (hadn't had a chance to even try it yet) and she refilled my water once when the check arrived. I also had to go and source my own place setting and napkins from a nearby table. Not a good experience. Value: I caught the end of happy hour for appetizers, so my flautas were ~30% off. Otherwise, everything here was overpriced given the quality. Atmosphere: I went here on a Monday night, so maybe I should have expected it to be empty. But it was completely dead. Most of the tables had chairs set up for close already. Maybe I should have taken it as a sign.

Was in town for work and met up with my BFF for dinner. The meal was amazing. I arrived at 3:45p on a Friday and was seated immediately. We left around 6p and noticed the restaurant starting to get busy. We started off with chips and a salsa & queso tray. The queso was delish. Nothing too spicy. I ordered the fish. It was a new item on the menu. Delish. The fish had some sauce on it that was divine. I ate the fish, sauce & salad in a perfect bite....**chefs kiss**. It was accompanied by black beans & a side salad. My friend ordered the barria tacos and inhaled them. We finished the meal with tea, coffee & the tres leches dessert. We shared the tres leches. It was smart but honestly, o should have ordered one to go. It was scrumptious! Well worth every calorie!!

Awesome spot for a birthday dinner - we had a group for my girl friend's birthday dinner and we had the best service, best food, and the best time. We sat on the outside patio area, which was a first for me and it was so pretty with the lights and the nice weather as the sun went down. The margarita tower is so great - def recommend especially if you have a group and are celebrating!

Came here again for a girls night ! Once again, it didn't disappoint! We had an awesome waitress. I forgot her card but I think her name may have been Giselle. Very attentive and helpful with all the questions that we had. My drink called "Call an Uber" was delicious. I got a ribeye burrito with soup. The soup was delicious however i was full off of guac & chips to eat my burrito. I did take a bite. I didn't enjoy the first couple of bites but apparently it was good bc my husband demolished my leftovers . Even tho we stayed way past closing , no one bothered us to tell us to leave which I appreciated . Of course I'll be back soon

Came in for some post-work drinks to be pleasantly greeted to a BOGO marg-of-the day deal. The Margarita was off menu and tasted perfectly like summer. It was a mango passionfruit slushy and it was just divine. I also got the tortilla soup which I saw great things about and it was fantastic! Really awesome presentation and flavors going on, and a generous amount of chicken. The tacos were good, but I want to come back to try the crispy barbacoa tacos. and the dessert sample platter was decadent, my personal favorite being the chocolate cake.

Service was great and quick. Enchiladas needed a little more salt and flavor. Table side guac was amazing. The white sangria tasted like a screw driver. Gave tourist attraction

Visiting Tampa and decided that I wanted tacos on Taco Tuesday. Besito's great reviews spoke to me so I tried it. I started with the frozen pomegranate margarita and that drink was fantastic. They use a house tequila and the taste was on point. I ordered the Taco Tuesday special that included 3 tacos (must all be the same), a small bowl of rice and beans and a drink (house Margarita or small glass of wine).I ordered the fish tacos. Surprisingly they were bass and so very tasty. I didn't love the tortillas but the fish, slaw and sauce were very flavorful. The restaurant wasn't full but the staff were very attentive and accommodating. I'd recommend and will be back on my next visit.

This is my go-to Mexican restaurant if I need tasty food, amazing service and incredible drinks. I love how fresh is everything I have tried, specially the Enchiladas Mixtas, the are 10/10 and my favorite drink: Call me an Uber. The place is super cozy and they always have good music. The bartender Marina was AMAZING, She recommended the best drinks and gave us top-notch service!

Overall, fantastic! Our server Lili was so friendly and wonderful, made great recommendations, very attentive and sweet. I'd ask for her if she's available for sure! We got chips with the salsa, fresh table side guacamole and queso, all the best I've had anywhere. I got crispy barbacoa tacos and a tamale on the side, and my husband got barbacoa enchiladas. I don't necessarily have the authority to speak to authenticity but I think it was pretty authentic. In any case, everything was delicious!

We came for Cinco De Mayo and it did not disappoint! The food, atmosphere, live music were exactly what we needed for a girl's night! We had Andrea as our server and she was knowledgeable on the menu and very accommodating! This girl needs a raise!! 10/10 will be back!

The food was good I must say and the staff were prompt. I think the guacamole gets a lot of hype, it's good but I like mine better. We said Spicy and it was still mild. We sat outside to enjoy the nice evening breeze which was nice. I would visit again, however only if I was in the area.

This place has to have the best and fastest service I've ever seen. Management is on top of everything there. I think our food was ordered and then delivered within 10 minutes.LOL. My husband and I ordered chicken and steak enchiladas and a crispy chicken burrito. We also had chips and salsa and two different margaritas. The tortilla chips are really delicious and taste like they're made in house. I ordered the skinny margarita with a splash of mango. My husband ordered the besito margarita. We will definitely come back for their happy hour. The ambience is super cute too. You can definitely take a few cute photos with the family or your date.

Besito is a decent Mexican spot, the service was great, and great mezcal drink which was called call me an uber. I wasn't too crazy about the ceviche so I would skip that but the tacos were delicious. Get the Baja fish tacos and the barbacoa crispy tacos. And they give you complimentary churros at the end of your meal! What I ordered: - Salsa Trio: Our Famous Queso Dip, Pico de Gallo & Tomatillo Green Chili Sauce. Served with Homemade Tortilla Chips and Salsa de Mesa - TRIO CEVICHE: Three Different Types of Ceviche: Shrimp, Fish and Mushrooms. Topped with Fried Plantains. Each one with Their Own Sauce - BARBACOA CRISPY: Slowly Cooked Shredded Beef Barbacoa, Melted Chihuahua Cheese, Pickled Onions and Cilantro with a side of our Oaxaca Ají Verde Sauce. Served in a Homemade Crispy Corn Tortillas (3pc). - BAJA FISH: Tempura Battered Fish or Camarones, House Made Slaw, Queso Fresco, Cilantro. Topped with Chipotle Crema. Served on Flour Tortilla.

This is my go to Mexican restaurant in Trampa Bay. I have been a regular at Besitos since the day they opened. It's my go to place to meet friends, dates and for any family or holiday event. The food is always fresh, flavorful, well made and well presented. Bravissimo!!!!! The drinks OMG well they are superbly made and their frozen margaritas are lethal. but even above that I enjoy the service from everyone at Besitos and ( Zoe the bartender you know you have my heart ) you always get my orders right and you always know what I need. Frank has a great staff and I hope that you will be at Westshore Plaza for many more years and events. PS Miss Zoe you know I will be in on Margarita Monday

I've been here three times now and this place is five stars all the way! It is not your hole in the wall Mexican place. It is super nice, date night or GNO kind of place. The outdoor patio is amazing and the indoor is just as beautiful. The menu is wonderful and the cocktails are fantastic! Because it's such a nice atmosphere it's a bit high dollar, but it is worth every penny. The tableside guac is nice and chunky and the chips come out salty and hot. It's a fantastic place to celebrate any occasion and they make everything so special here.

This is South Tampa's fanciest Mexican restaurant. Even more so than Miguels, Roco's Tacos or Miguelitos. Ambiance is beautiful. Food. All your typical Mexican fares are available. The quality of the meat is top notch. Flavors are great. Sauces are too. My favorite is the queso. They have Taco Tuesday with approximately six different choices. Each comes with three loaded tacos, although they are the small varieties. A good idea is to order a couple different ones and share. I tried the shredded pork with pineapple. 5 stars definitely, especially with queso. For $19.95 on Tuesday you get three tacos and one of the happy hour cocktails. I did the classic Margherita with sugar rim. It was tasty, although very small (with full glass of ice) and light alcohol. Once you are done they bring out complementary mini churros. These were great too. Note: although they have chips and salsa available, they must charge for these because we didn't receive any complementary like at some Mexican establishments. Parking is in a lot that can get busy. Recommend parking in front of the abandon Sears and walking the short distance. There is also a nearby garage if you'd like the shade. Only thing they need focus on is trimming back the overgrown plants in front of the restaurant. When you walk from the north parking lot or mall entrance, it is a jungle encroaching over the sidewalk. Their sign is partly covered and it's unsightly. The good news is this is not indicative of their food or service quality. After three visits this is a good one!

Great stop at Besito. Opted for a quick quesadilla and it was delicious! Fantastic flavor and served with crema, pico, and salsa verde. The chicken flavor was delish! We opted to sit at the bar and had quick friendly service as well. Will definitely be back to try out some adult beverages

Last weekend at night, I went to Besito with a friend for the first time, and I really loved it. We sat at the bar, and the service was wonderful. One of the bartenders, named Marina, took care of us incredibly well: she explained the menu, answered all our questions very kindly, and made us some spectacular drinks. I can't wait to go back! Besides the drinks, we ordered guacamole (which they prepare on the spot) and it was delicious. We also tried the beef and chicken fajitas, and everything was divine. The meat was delicious and tender, and the tortillas were fresh and tasty. I will definitely go to this place more often. The atmosphere is incredible, with good music, excellent service, perfect spots for photos, and a great location.

I had the Birria sliders and desserts, and wow--absolutely amazing! The sliders were perfectly seasoned, juicy, and packed with rich birria flavor, all tucked into soft buns that held everything together beautifully. For dessert, we had a stunning platter that was as delicious as it was eye-catching. From the warm, cinnamon-sugar churros to the airy sponge cake topped with fresh strawberries, to the indulgent bread pudding with ice cream melting over the top--every bite was heavenly. The presentation, complete with fun umbrellas and flowers, made it feel festive and special. This spot really nails both flavor and presentation--I'll definitely be back! Jorge was great along with The management staff so friendly. Thank you!

We first visited this place just over a year ago, and I had such a great time that we decided to return for Father's Day. There were eight of us, and everyone loved their meals. On our last visit, I had the indestructible nachos, but this time I opted for the Mixta enchilada, which features a mix of steak, chicken, and chorizo meat, topped with a guajillo cream salsa that had a hint of sweetness. This dish is served with a side of rice and black beans. My wife chose the Flautas de Pollo again, and she also got a side of guacamole that was absolutely delicious. My younger son went for the Barria tacos, while my older son picked the Crispy Chicken Burrito. Every dish was flavorful and satisfying. Nobody had any complaints about the food or the service. The restaurant offers ample seating inside and even has an outdoor dining area. The service staff was excellent. We made a reservation for 6 PM and were seated right on time. The waitress came to our table promptly to take our order. The food arrived quickly, and our drinks were always topped off throughout our visit. The ambiance was perfect for a family gathering. Even though the place was busy, it didn't feel overcrowded. There's plenty of parking available since it's located in a mall. I highly recommend this restaurant. If we lived closer, I know we would be here much more often.

Probably the best Mexican food we have had in Tampa! The birria, barbacoa, pastor and camarones tacos were amazing. Our server, Brenda, was nice, helpful and quick. We will definitely be back to this cozy, charmy spot!

There is something about going out to dinner and shopping during the Christmas season. Even though people buy most everything online these days, there is still something special about going to dinner with your wife then shopping. But you need a great restaurant to make the night. Besito is a restaurant that does just that. We LOVE Mexican cuisine and have pretty high standards. If you are going to be an upscale Mexican restaurant, you better bring it. Besito brought it in every single way. First, both inside and out, the restaurant it decorated wonderfully. A sophisticated theming that sets the right tone and mood. You like great service, Besito has you covered. Our server was super busy, yet was able to make us feel like we were her only table. How about the food you ask? Well, to this former Californian taco snob, Besito crushed it. The food is fantastic. They brag about their guacamole, and rightfully so. Made to order table side, it was outstanding. Great spices, obviously fresh, and the chips were light, crispy and warm. Their salsa was some of the best I have had. Do you like tacos? They have won awards for their tacos and they are well deserved. My wife got the fish tacos and I got the birria tacos. Both were terrific. Our server even brought mini churros hot and fresh at the end. Full disclosure, this is a quality, upscale Mexican restaurant. It is on the expensive side for Mexican food, but worth every single penny. Get a reservation. We got there at 6:15, by 6:30 is was packed. We will be back, probably in the spring so we can sit outdoors, and bring the kids. This is the type of place that will be a family favorite for a long time.

Really cool spot for happy hour. I went during lunch and it was overly busy. They have a pretty solid menu and that's why I went with the burger. It was juicy. I wish it had a more Mexican flavor profile.

This is a great spot with a darker ambiance inside! They do have a large bar inside and outside seating as well for the cooler months. Great food. Pleasant and timely service. Drink specials and happy hours are nice as well!

From start to finish Jorge was a fantastic server and knew exactly what to recommend to us! My girl got the Mixto fajitas, and I got the Chipotle steak, both amazing recommendations from him. He made the best guac we've ever had, and took lots of time to give every detail of every order so we knew we were making the right choice. Great music, friendly staff, and overall vibe is authentic but guest focused. 100/10, truly the best Mexican restaurant we've ever been to in the whole country! Thank you again Jorge!

To Management, I didn't complain about your guacamole or your tacos. I was told that Tampa's Besitos had different owners than Hartford and Boston. Regardless of the ownership the white Sangria used to be amazing and sweet and that's changed, the cake I mentioned used to be light and delicious and now it's heavy and spongy, the enchiladas had a wonderful creamy cilantro sauce that was mouth watering. Besitos stood out amongst other Mexican restaurants before in my mind to the point that I traveled to other states to eat there. Congratulations on your award. Too bad they couldn't taste how good the food used to be and how it is now. It's funny you didn't address the items I really complained about. It doesn't matter by all means be proud of your award.

I'm not sure why there are negative comments about the food. We have been to numerous Mexican restaurants, including many in the Washington D.C. area. This is by far the best Mexican food we have ever had. Fresh, delicious, and plentiful. Our only complaint is the charge for the chips and salsa. We have never had to pay for this in other places.

Besitos is one of my favorite Mexican restaurants in Tampa. I recently went with a group of friends for their happy hour. I had one classic and one house margarita which were pretty decent. My group also shared chips and salsa, nachos and the salsa trio. It was very good! The service was a little slow but otherwise fine.

I don't remember the first time I visited Besito, but what I do know is that I can still recommend it as a great place to eat and have some margaritas. Their guacamole made from scratch, the birria or carne asada tacos, the mixed skillet, the birria nachos--those were what I ordered the last time I went, and they impressed me so much. The presentation is phenomenal and catches everyone's attention. I went with my friends, and we sat at the bar. The bartender Marina, makes the best drinks in the world. She's super friendly and attentive to her customers. Btw, she's the one who recommended the birria nachos to me. They're listed under appetizers, but I recommend sharing them or ordering them as an entree if you're a nacho lover like me because WOW, they're huge. I'll keep going to this place. Highly recommended. Great music, located in a mall with plenty of parking, and the best part? Latin music.

I went with a Party of 3 for dinner on a Tuesday. Although the place was busy we were seated right away. There was Spanish music playing in the background the whole time. The staff were friendly and waiter was attentive. Pretty Easter decor all around. We ordered: * appetizer ribs which came with fried yuca - didn't care for this dish and the yuca were overly seasoned. * steak burrito it comes with side of rice and beans - another disappointment as it had spinach and the meat was chewy * the nachos were delicious and so was the quesadilla, no complaints
