"Leave it to the Michael Cimarusti (he's the brilliant chef behind LA mainstays Connie and Ted's and Providence) to pull a culinary magic trick: Cimarusti unveiled his new restaurant, Best Girl, after secretly working with DTLA's Ace Hotel to reimagine its now-former restaurant, L.A. Chapter (the change was unveiled to the public literally overnight, as hotel guests learned of the news via a note slipped under their doors). A good dose of nostalgia and history come with the new concept, from the name (Best Girl nods to the building's history, the former home of United Artists, the studio co-founded by actress Mary Pickford whose film My Best Girl premiered at United Artists Theatre, now the Theatre at Ace Hotel), to Cimarusti's return to the downtown culinary scene more than a decade after he was head chef at the Water Grill. The interiors are stylish and moody—and the menu is refreshingly unique, albeit heavy on the meat (there are a few veg-centric items, including a stuffed pachieri), with a solid desert game thanks to chef Crisi Echiverri."
I won't recommend this place for brunch. The banana pancakes were one of the worst I've ever had - served lukewarm (with the butter completely melted down), very stiff, and not quite pleasant-tasting. The recommended potato latke was okayish.

I did the Dine LA menu. When I stated that was what I came for, the hostess seemed a bit terse. The waitress told us they were out of the carrots, which is what we really wanted but if its good, I can understand running out. We had an avocado toast as a substitute. I also asked for the 2 course wine pairing. The wine came after the first course. The waitress neglected to let us know that they ran out. My friend's second course was chicken. It was very tasty. I ordered duck ragu fettuccine. Now I like my pasta al dente, but I think my pasta was just dropped in boiling water and immediately strained. Brought it home to finish cooking it. The creme brulee was average and after the theatre crowd left, service went downhill. This is the only restaurant that I have been too all week that was disappointing. I'm sorry.

Wild squid, tastes good. There are also noodles, like the delicious snacks of heaven. Dessert is a pleasant surprise, try Bardstown Pudding, very delicious and delicious! Because this is great, I will be here.

What a cute place for brunch. We all loved our food. The ricotta blueberry griddle cakes were light and fluffy, and the crab Benedict was gone in about 5 minutes. Service was good if a bit slow. I would highly recommend eating here.

Food was very good & reasonable for LA. Their specialty cocktails are very good as is their wine list. It is a vibrant cafe with eclectic patrons. Lots of energy in this smaller restaurant. Not too much on the romantic side...that's what room service at the Ace Hotel is for! I would highly recommend Best Girl for an energetic evening or before dining if attending the Ace Theater.♡

Phenomenal cappuccino— and was happy they were open early- it was tough finding a place open in this area so early in the morning

This is definitely a great little spot to meet up with someone or grab a quick bite the eat. The atmosphere is very intimate inside and out. I sat inside as it very less intrusive than seating outside on Broadwat with so many passengers. They do offer valet parking. The menu is a little pricier. The drink menu is decent as most of cocktails are between $12-$13. And they have pretty great customer service as our waitress was very attentive.
