Google
I brought my newly purchased wedding suit and shirt in to Olga to have it tailored to my specifications. She did an excellent job and got the alterations done in a timely manner. My suit is absolutely perfect, now! I will be back for sure. I highly recommend!

Google
Olga and her team are wonderful!! They produce high quality work, extensive experience and a great, professional eye. They are honest and have reasonable pricing. They altered my complicated dress and made it even better with creative ideas. I’m so happy I found them - they are my go-to in the city!

Google
I flew to NYC for a week to attend a wedding of my friends and I needed to find a place to fix my dress in that short period of time. I'm so glad I found Olga. She is a lifesaver! Olga was such a wonderful seamstress! I had a very detailed and intricate lace dress and she was able to hem and stitch the lace straps to my dress. I am in LOVE with my dress! I would definitely recommend! Very neat, organized, and very punctual!

Google
I was in a rush to get my dress completed for a wedding. I took it in on Monday and not only were they able to take my dress in and have it ready by FRIDAY, but they also fixed my zipper. Not to mention they did all this at a much cheaper price than the first place I had gone to. I will definitely be returning and would recommend this place to anyone I know. Thank you for the quality service!

Google
Olga was very friendly but visibly busy running her own business. She has a somewhat steady stream of clients coming and going. I had two dresses altered here and the results were great. It's a quick in and out place for a fair price. Will be back for future outfits that need work.

Google
LIFESAVERS! They were able to fit me in last minute to get my dress altered in 3 days and it was super affordable! The best service! I Will definitely use this place for all of my alterations. I will tell more people about this place place.

Google
So disappointed.Over the years, I brought more challenging alterations to Best Stitch because they did a fine job. On Thursday, I brought three items to be altered and was told by the owner (Olga) that they would be ready anytime on Monday. Five minutes away on Monday, while in an Uber, I receive a text message to come after 5pm. I get there and Olga is not there, but her assistant is. She explains the iron broke this morning. Nonsensical. Why didn't she text me earlier? In theory my items should have been ready Sunday, if I could pick them up anytime on Monday. They had never been touched. Olga arrives, and then tells me the iron broke on Saturday. So, did the iron break on Saturday or Monday? Laughable. I tell her that I come here from Brooklyn in Ubers. She offers no discount and explains people have left items from two years ago and she was never paid. Irrelevant. I took my items and will not return. They've lost a good customer.

Google
Olga helped me when I was in a pinch! I contacted her (on recommendation from a stylist at Macy’s), to use her. She got me in, altered my fully beaded dress I needed for a wedding the next day- and it fit like a GLOVE! I will use her now in the future. She’s amazing!

Yelp
I have been calling and no answer. Just found out that Olga passed away months ago. She was the best!!!

Stephanie M.

Yelp
I walked in and almost immediately received incredibly rude customer service. I also asked one of the seamstress for an opinion on where I wanted them to stitch my bodysuit and the woman literally flared her arms at me in disgust .. I was genuinely confused, not understanding how or why she was being so rude to me. I try to give grace and people the benefit of the doubt, who knows, maybe she was having a bad day. But her projection impacted me in a very negative way & I left with an awful taste in my mouth & feeling in my chest. Will never walk into that place again and hopefully this review helps other empaths avoid a negative and unnecessarily rude encounter Lastly, they quoted me $150 to stitch small pieces of lace onto a bodysuit. Seemed high, although I am no seamstress. In any case, with how rude they were .. absolutely no way I'd give them my business. It's important we support business of high quality, ethics, & values .. including being kind (or at least civil!) to their customers.

Yelp
We had several items for alteration and everything was done well. We also had stretchy yoga shorts that another "highly rated" tailor refused to take, but Olga & Natasha did everything the way we wanted. And don't believe those few bad reviews. There is always a small percentage of people who take joy at being nasty to others, no matter what you do.

Alexey K.

Yelp
I can't express how impressed I was with my experience here. I have had very unpleasent experiences with other local seamstress. They have all been rude, overpriced and even ruined some of my garments. Olga was a breath of fresh air! He was friendly, helpful and fairly priced! She repaired the zipper in my jacket, it was well done and accomplished in a reasonable amount of time. I will be using her again in the future. HIGHLY RECOMMEND her!

Oleksandr M.

Yelp
The best turnaround time! Above and beyond. Excellent customer service and very impressed with the prices. I love this place, they'll treat you and your clothes with care 100% recommend.
google avatar

Siddharth B.

Yelp
Unprofessional and job poorly done. The only reason i paid them the high price was because they were a block down from my place. Would not recommend.
google avatar

Marie T.

Yelp
The ladies here do a fantastic job. I paid 100$ to get 4 seams taken in and shoulder straps shorter. It was more than I wanted to pay for the work but well worth it! My dress fits perfectly now and it feels good!

Em V.

Yelp
I've used Best Stitch to take in the waist of 7 pairs of pants now, and all of them have been really well done! I now go to them for everything. Worth the cost. Bring cash with you, they are cash only and will ask for the money when you drop off your clothes!
google avatar

Joy H.

Yelp
I rarely post a review but the service I received from this establishment was above par. Olga and Natasha we're very responsive to my requests and they did such a great job fulfilling it. They practically rebuilt mydress to make it fit to my body! My dresses came back so beautiful and fitted me perfectly. Their prices are reasonable too.
google avatar

Noelle P.

Yelp
I was in the city for an important meeting. Olga has helped extend the life of so many of my favorite garments. Including with weight fluctuations! She is patient, and has a knowledge and expertise that is more than worth the drive from where I live. She is kind and very fair priced, too! She is the only tailor I would trust with my clothes. I highly recommend her. I am so happy to have found her.
google avatar

Kristina S.

Yelp
I have used this place multiple times to get dresses tailored. They are fast and do a great job! On one dress they added a split and it came out great!
google avatar

Perpetua M.

Yelp
Always tailors my clothes perfectly especially with my petite figure. She is fast, and super reliable she is expensive but never found a tailor as good as this place. Cash only!

Jaime S.

Yelp
This lady is a criminal. Think twice before you come here. She demands payment upfront and then ruined my dress. I asked her if she could add a "hook and eye" or a button to a dress to keep it closed at the top. She assured me no problem. I came to pick it up and there were ONLY button holes, no buttons. What am I going to do with two new holes in a brand new dress. She told me I needed to find my own buttons. Clearly there was a huge miscommunication when I dropped off the dress. I asked for my money back, which was a minimal expense but she didn't do what I had asked her to do. She straight refused to give me my money back. She also ended up PUSHING me with both hands to leave her store. Be on alert with this crazy person and go somewhere else!
google avatar

Rawan A.

Yelp
I've taken 3 items to Best Stitching Tailoring in the last 2 weeks, and every single item has come out exactly as I wanted. 2 dresses with completely different materials, and a skirt, also a different material than the dresses. The owner is very nice, understands your needs, is quick, clean, and offers great prices. She usually has the items done within 3 business days if you're not in a rush. I've searched for a reasonably priced tailor in Manhattan for a long time now, and Best Stitch has been the best in both price and quality.
google avatar

Rikki S.

Yelp
Such kind people working here, and very honest! I brought in a dress to get altered for the first time ever, and the woman working there was extremely patient with me. Once the dress was on she just saw one small alteration to make and that the rest of the dress fit totally fine. She didn't even charge me! Knowledgeable, friendly and not too expensive!
google avatar

Yelp
The best tailor in the city! Olga is amazing , real professional, quality oriented and very reasonable for the quality of work she does. I had so much work done here and travel from Washington DC for all major work. Had my dresses remade, had leather dress made into a skirt, had fur coats completely redone. There is nothing that Olga can not do. I recommend her to all my friends in NY. At this day and age where most so called tailors can only hem something and not really a professional tailors - she can pretty much do anything g and very honest about suggestions that will give you the best outcome. A must for all your tailoring needs!
google avatar

Carolyn N.

Yelp
I have been going to BST for over 2 years now (she had literally just opened), and have never had a bad experience. Hemming is expensive, as it is everywhere in NYC (besides the inexpensive places on Orchard/Rivington, LES), but she will take in the sides of shirts/dresses for cheap - like $20! She is also super quick. Sometimes same day turnaround. Love this place, have recommended it to many friends.

Urvi A.

Yelp
First tore my dress with her bad pins. Even made me come twice with different sizes. Then when I started to negotiate on pricing, she took out all the pins. And said "my business my prices". She was charging me $110 for a simple hem and upper tuck. The dress was $89. Pathetic.
google avatar

Erast B.

Yelp
This review is long overdue! I have been coming to Olga for over three years and she always does an outstanding job! I refer all of my colleagues and friends to her! The workmanship is impeccable and he always has my items ready on time -- she has even called me to let me know if they are done early! She has altered countless dresses - some of which have required moving a side zipper on an all lace dress. With so many places in NYC - I'm so glad I have a tailor I can always count on! Not only is she incredibly experienced, she has an amazing eye for detail and attention, and is very nice and friendly. Look no further and bring your alterations here!
google avatar

David S.

Yelp
Stop reading reviews and just go here for all of your tailoring needs. Olga is fantastic. I took my suit pants to her once because I'd accidentally torn a seam. She took a look at them and immediately sat down at her sewing machine. Thirty seconds later, they were fixed so well I couldn't tell where the spot was, and she didn't even charge me. A note on how to find it: Go inside the main entrance at 147 W 35th, walk straight past the guard desk to the elevator, go to the third floor, find door #305.

J M.

Yelp
I've worked with several tailors in NY over the course of the past 30 years. Olga is one of the best. I'd even dare to say THE best. Workmanship is meticulous, turnaround is quick, and there's nothing she can't do!

Wayne N.

Yelp
Rude - I just called over the phone to inquire about pricing and the lady over the phone would not give me a quote. Called 5 minutes before they technically closed and she just blew me off and said "call me tomorrow or bring in. I don't discuss pricing over the phone. I close now." Clearly this place doesn't want to do business. Very poor attitude in a customer service business
google avatar

Enejan B.

Yelp
I would recommend Best Stitch Tailoring to anyone looking for a high quality, creative, and phenomenal tailor! They were able to fit me in on short notice, had an amazing return time, and the dress fit perfectly and didn't look like anything was altered on it!!! I will continue to use them for any of my tailoring needs!
google avatar

Igor D.

Yelp
Olga is a marvelous person and perfect tailor. My wife and I came in to get my wedding suit tailored and had a wonderful experience. She has a very warm personality, listened to what we needed, and made suggestions. We love this place and we'll be definitely coming back.
google avatar

L R.

Yelp
Very unprofessional, rude and ignorant. I mean anyone can be a good tailor having loads of practice. But Olga and people working with her are completely scary. Scammers and blackmailers. What can I say. Never again.

Colleen W.

Yelp
Very nice woman and quality work but the pricing is highway robbery. Over $200 for a hem and the top taken in 1/4 inch on a solid chiffon bridesmaids dress
google avatar

Esther S.

Yelp
Great place to get alterations done. I needed some straps on a dress taken in. When I called, the lady said it would be $10, but when I took it in and tried it on for them, she said it was unlined so it would only cost $5. Since it was a quick, easy job, she asked me to wait 5 minutes while she worked on it right away. A few minutes later I was out the door!! Will definitely come back if I need anything else altered. FYI, cash only!

Yelp
When I had discovered this place from a coworker's referral, there were 2 things that kept me coming back: speed and decent prices. Fast forward to about a year and a half later, and in the time that's passed, a few jobs have been messed up, the request has been misinterpreted, and the prices were raised. Starting with the first point, there have been times were the clothes I brought and had been measured for had been hemmed too short (among them a tee, suit pants and chinos). Additionally, after washing chinos that I had just gotten cuffed, one wash and dry cycle effectively tethered the threads that held the cuff together. Compared to the same exact request almost a year ago, the quality went down significantly (the first pair have survived many wash rounds). Very recently, I had gone to ask for some pants to be cuffed. When I had gone back, the pants were only hemmed. Assuming this was an honest mistake, I had said it would be fine if I paid the new hem prices (more on this next), but the price would still be the same. As a result, if I wanted the original job I asked for done, I would have to come back the next day. Finally, it seems like prices have been raised by a flat $5 per job. For things like a hem, a $10 hem, the price went up 50%. I only noticed this bump because I had asked for a job that was exactly similar to what had been done in the past only to find that the prices had gone up. I wanted to keep giving Best Stitch Tailoring more chances after my first experience, but at this point, it seems like it's in vain.

Yelp
These ladies are fantastic. Some things are super cheap and others...well...what can you do, because of the level of work you may end up spending $40 on a $40 skirt....but I tell you it's well worth it. The quality is great. Advice, bring cash...AND be very clear about timing and when you need your items. I need more stuff done and will return soon.
google avatar

Jack P.

Yelp
Finding a tailor in the city may be easy but it's tough to find a tailor that does quality work quickly and you actually trust with your nice stuff. Olga and her team do an awesome job! I needed a Tuxedo tailored in a week and it wasn't a problem. The sleeves needed shortened, back and sides taken in on the jacket, and pants hemmed, which is quite a job. I brought a suit jacket I loved and we were able to work together to get the Tux jacket to match it and it came out perfect. Compared to other tailors, her pricing is very competitive so it was a no brainer. I will definitely be going back whenever I need an alteration!
google avatar

Ayrat S.

Yelp
QUICK turnaround and great work. I had 4 pairs of slacks that had a much wider calf off the sales rack and I wanted a more modern, slimmer cut. They did a great job tailoring them to fit me. Cost was very reasonable. These pants fit like a glove, now!
google avatar

Ashley C.

Yelp
Such amazing work and the alterations were turned around within 2 days. Pricing is fair, especially for the precision of work. I brought in a dress that had a built romper underneath and it now fits perfectly. I highly recommend Best Stitch Tailoring! FYI they are cash only
google avatar

Lauren O.

Yelp
I had an alteration that I left to the last minute for a bridesmaid dress. I also didn't order the dress in a very timely fashion, so they didn't have my size. I got a 6 even though I'm normally a 2. I needed to have the whole dress taken in and hemmed. I simply came into Best Stitch, tried it on, and Olga sized and pinned the dress super quickly. She knew exactly what needed to be done. They had the dress finished on time 1 week later and it fit perfectly. I was off the the wedding the next day and it looked fabulous!
google avatar

Michelle R.

Yelp
This was my first visit. I needed a dress hemmed last-minute (of course) for a wedding, and found Best Stitch after calling a few other places who said they needed more notice. Olga was not only totally unfazed by the quick turnaround time, but also did an absolutely beautiful job. The price was quite reasonable give the the nature of the dress: silk stretch jersey with a VERY full skirt and a lining, both with rolled baby hems. I went to see Olga on a Thursday night after work and picked it up on Friday night in time for the Saturday wedding. I will definitely be a repeat customer.

Harlem r.

Yelp
She once did great work (while not being the most pleasant person) and I returned several times with various tasks amounting to $200 or more. One woman was added to the work room, then more ... quality went down a bit .... Unfortunately, the last time I picked everything up one of the most expensive alternations (a skirt) had not been taken in. At all. I only discovered this once I got home. In addition, oddly, one of them had removed the skirt's original tag and replaced it with a different tag, a different brand - which did not make sense to me but did annoy me enormously. I have a lot of alterations done and I am willing to pay a premium for good work, and I will therefore never go back to this place. Don't. There are other tailors.
google avatar

Brittany S.

Yelp
I'm in a wedding in two weeks and was looking for a cheap, fast, and good seamstress. After reading Yelp reviews I decided to take a chance on Best Stitch. This is a no frills place so be prepared for that. When you walk in, you're in a room with 3 or 4 women working on sewing machines. There's a small area with a mirror and curtain for changing. Olga greeted me immediately and had me put my dress on. It took her about 5 minutes to pin it, she quoted me $65, and told me come back in 4 days. That is crazy. I was expecting the worst and was pleasantly surprised! A lot of other reviewers commented on Olga's English; She didn't say much but she does speak English and we were able to effectively communicate.
google avatar

Michael C.

Yelp
I really don't understand the negative reviews... They've always been wonderful. I ended up going here several years ago as my long Time tailor/seamstress closed up shop. I was so worried as I had a great relationship with the other shop but I've been so happy with Best Stitch. They always take very good care of me. They even did a beautiful job on a sport coat that I needed the sleeves let out on. I didn't hold much hope for it due to the amount it needed to be let out and the lining, but you'd never even know it had been altered! Their service is fast and beyond reasonable. I just took in a bathing suit that, once again, I didn't hold out much hope for due to the style of stitching. I never thought I'd be happy with the way it turned out but it's perfect! And the cost was once again beyond reasonable. I HIGHLY recommend Best Stitch!!
google avatar

Meghan B.

Yelp
Can't comment on the tailoring but the woman who just answered the phone was extremely rude and I will not be taking my items there as a result. I was asking for a general estimate for an alteration on a bridesmaid dress - merely a quick range to make sure they have reasonable prices before lugging the dress all the way from Brooklyn on the train. The woman on the phone literally told me she couldn't and wouldn't talk to me and then hung up on me. The fact that they can't say "depending on difficulty, dress alterations are usually from $80 - $200" or similar leads me to believe they don't have a set price list and will likely price gouge/overestimate the work needed to complete the job. Too bad, I had several other dresses and items to have tailored and would've likely been a repeat customer but I have no time for poor customer service when there are so many other tailoring options in NYC.
google avatar

Cal L.

Yelp
Exceptional in every way, I've used Olga exclusively since I found her in 2014. She's perfectly altered everything from bias-cut silk dresses (notoriously difficult to eliminate puckering at side seams) and leather skirts to a vintage faux mink coat for me. Her skills are that of an old-world artisan from a bygone era, her execution detail-oriented and precise. She goes the extra mile to ensure the finished product is utter perfection. Olga herself is professional yet genuinely nice and so accommodating, ie her turnaround time is already incredibly short, but if you need it even sooner she'll make it happen w/no fuss. She's also candid, w/a great eye and refined taste, so if you ask her opinion on a look or fit, expect an honest answer, even if it's not the one you wanted... just take it! All that, and her prices are extremely reasonable to boot. So what're you waiting for?
google avatar

Hannah C.

Yelp
I had a bridesmaids dress that not only had a fairly complicated design, but was too small and wouldn't zip up the side - and I didn't have enough time to reorder one. Panicking, I scoured Yelp for a tailor and came upon Best Stich. As soon as I brought the dress in and showed Olga the issue, she told me it was no problem, quoted the price and told me to come back in four days. I went and picked up my dress yesterday, and it fits absolutely perfectly. I could not be more impressed (or more relieved!) She is absolutely wonderful. (And to note - this business is cash only!)

Natalia S.

Yelp
This is definitely the best place to come for alteration in NYC. I've been going there for years. Since I'm a petite size almost each item of my wardrobe goes for alteration. Ladies there are so professional!! They really care about the quality of the job and able to work with different types of fabric like silk, leather, suede and so on... I personally don't care so much about timing but as a big plus is a good turnaround time. Usually the work is done in 2 days.

J I.

Yelp
Very nice and clean tailoring studio however she refused to work on my very simple job of sewing a strap onto a bra, saying she will only work on larger garments such as coats and pants. She rudely stopped me as soon as I started to explain what I needed and told me she would not help me complaining about how bras are complicated. I calmly explained how simple my request was but she would not listen. I know how to sew and know it would be a very quick job, probably less than 5 minutes. It was a cold very rainy day and there was no one else there, it was not busy.
google avatar

Daphne L.

Yelp
Had to get a cocktail dress taken in and straps shortened. Reasonably priced, quick (6 day turnaround without rush order) and did a great job! Would recommend for quick small alterations.
google avatar

Iman L.

Yelp
My dream tailor! Olga is the best! She can fix anything! But most importantly she can create amazing one-of-a-kind pieces from a runway picture. It is affordable couture look and quality!!

Kimberly S.

Yelp
I took my bridesmaid dress for my brother's wedding here. I needed the top taken in and a hem. I was hesitant about where she pinned the top, but she said it would come out right. It came out too loose, and gapes quite a bit in the back. And then she did the hem several inches too short - and yes, I was wearing the shoes I plan to wear with the dress. She had originally tried to pin it shorter and I said I wanted it to touch the floor so she re did it. I believe it was cut to the original length that she suggested - not the one that she re-pinned per my preference. I also asked her to fix a zipper on a nice pair of jeans. She replaced it with a zipper that was much too long on the bottom. Looks sloppy and it rubs against my leg when I walk. The jeans I took to be fixed elsewhere, but it was obviously too late on the dress that she hemmed too short. Perhaps a two day turnaround is not a good thing!

Caitlin B.

Yelp
This was not only one of the worst tailoring jobs but the woman there was incredibly rude and was yelling at me and taking to her coworkers in another language about me. I went in and the job was done wrong and she refused to fix it and basically said I said it was good when she was pinning. They are also pretty expensive. Probably the 3rd review I have ever written. It was just that bad.

Ryan M.

Yelp
I have gone here multiple times with chinos, suits and dress pants. All have been tailored very nice to the look I prefer. They make you try everything on when you pick it up and ensure you like the fit.
google avatar

Julie M.

Yelp
This place is NOT affordable. I was just told (after changing into my skirt in the dressing room), I assume by Olga, that it would cost $55 to do an incredibly simple straight-across hem on a skirt-- which cost $75 to begin with. No way. I guess all the reviews got to her head. I mentioned that her Yelp reviews said she regularly hemmed skirts for $20 or less and she didn't seem to understand (or pretended not to) and said that she "didn't discuss price over the phone."

Val K.

Yelp
For the last five years I have brought to this place my best, my favorite and my most expensive clothes although I reside in Westchester and it's quite a ride for me. Olga and her team are wonderful experts in alterations and tailoring. They would not only follow your instructions with utmost attention but also advise you what to do better, what fits you best and make suggestions that are always appropriate. The delivery is always timely and the price is just right as I have met many tailors charging more and making a really mediocre if not lousy jobs. I would recommend Best Stitch Tailoring to all my friends and acquaintances.
