Best Western Plus Hawthorne Terrace Hotel

I don't want to give a great review because I want to keep this GEM of a place to stay all to myself when I drive into the city from the burbs! But if I'm not trying to book a room YOU should! Safe, clean, best parking, great staff, great breakfast, walking distance to everywhere. Expect rainbow flags everywhere. But that's expected near "Boys town"! All good vibes around this beautiful Best Western. Had a great stay!

After a long flight, we arrived at the BW Hawthorne two hours early. We ended up sleeping in the front area because there was no early check-in. It was us and one other party. Eventually we walked up and asked to check in and they allowed us. I've never in my life had to do this. ||Breakfast was exceptional. Not just your typical continental breakfast. They did bring local bakery goods in each morning. Be sure and grab your breakfast and eat out in front in the garden area. So pleasant. This was like staying at a boutique hotel. Very quaint. One morning I overheard the front desk staff talking about current patrons and their demands. Not real professional. They did not see us sitting there in their defense. Loved the area this hotel is in. Walked to Wrigley field. Parking is expensive and limited. Room was very clean. Bed was not so comfy. The gym was nice too. The housekeepers were very nice! I wished I had gotten their names. TV is at a weird angle in my corner room. Hard to see but didn't watch it too much. All n all, I would recommend this place due to it's location and boutique style.

The hotel, rooms, and bathrooms were very clean. We stayed in the annex which was having some renovations done which didn’t bother us at all but we could definitely tell the suite we stayed in was newer. There were a few things that still needed to be worked on but they were small details that didn’t have a big affect on us. There is a very nice terrace to sit at right outside the door. And a parking lot right next to the hotel. Lakeview, the neighborhood that the hotel is located in is extremely cute and beautiful.

What an unexpected delight! ||We stayed at this property as part of a wedding celebration for the child of our friends and chose the place based on the location (nearby the synagogue where some events were happening).||What we didn’t expect was very friendly service, an excellent breakfast buffet, and a comfortable quiet room in the middle of the city.||While there is a price to staying in the middle of the city, especially during Pride Fest, I highly recommend this property, especially since it is also in the midst of a major refresh.||A postscript to the review—I left my phone charger there and they found it and gave to a friend who will get it back to me. Well done!!

Booked here last minute to attend a concert at Wrigley Field, and I am so happy I did! The room was so nice, bed extremely comfortable and service from staff outstanding. The neighborhood and walk to Wigley was nice and I felt very safe at all times. Will definitely stay here again!

The location is fantastic and that's about the positive of this place. The rooms are outdated. The staff was meh. When we first came in to check in (bags and all) the staff behind the front desk (there were 3 of them) continued their conversation and completely ignored me as I stood by the front desk. I worked front desk at a hotel before, so I know the job. We were informed that the rooms don't get cleaned everyday, which is fine. Our room was cleaned once the whole time we were there but there was a QR code in the room for tips. The free breakfast downstairs was fine, it was free so really can't complain. The coffee is mediocre. The cinnamon buns are amazing. They get them from Ann Sather's across the street and Ann Sather's is known for its cinnamon rolls.

I want give recognition where it is deserved. My husband and I came to this hotel after a poor experience at a neighboring one in hopes of getting a room. Unfortunately, she said they were fully booked. BUT she, Marianne (or Mary Ann, sorry I’m unsure of the spelling!), at the front desk went absolutely above and beyond to help us find somewhere to stay. She could have just sent us on our way with Google, but she helped us and stayed with us until she knew we had found somewhere else to go. And the place she helped us find resulted from a call she made to a friend of hers working the desk at another neighboring hotel. Thank you SO MUCH for your wonderful hospitality, Marianne. You made our night so much less stressful and I will never forget your kindness. She is a gem and I hope the Best Western gives her all the recognition for her genuinely compassionate soul. She is truly an asset to your company.

Even though we stayed for just a short night, we enjoyed our stay. The hotel itself is tucked away right in a neighborhood in the city. We were able to walk less than 2 minutes to a fabulous restaurant that served delicious Mexican food. They even served a hot continental breakfast. We will definitely be back to stay the next time we are in town.

I had a little trepidation booking here because the prices were relatively moderate (midweek, nothing going on at Wrigley Field) and it's an older property, but we were pleasantly surprised. Parking was also relatively reasonable ($33) and very convenient with in-and-out. We had a jacuzzi room because we wanted a sofa, although we didn't care about the bathtub. The room was very spacious and comfortable, including the sofa. Sofas in hotels are often pretty bad, but not this one. The bathroom was also spacious, with a heat lamp for the jacuzzi or shower. Good shower. Just wish there had been a grab bar, especially if one wanted to use the tub, but also just for climbing into the tub to use the shower. Very comfortable bed and good climate control except that the A/C unit was over the sofa so there was a cold draft on the sofa -- probably not avoidable given the age of the building, and not a big deal as they do provide a nice extra blanket. Breakfast was surprisingly good, with excellent cinnamon rolls and decent coffee. You can take it back to your room or eat in the lobby or on the patio. We will definitely stay here again.

We arrived before check in time and thought we could just hang out in the lobby. We were happy to find that they put us in our room right away! The room was clean, spacey and updated. We had two bottles of water waiting, a mini fridge and microwave. Upon settling in, the bed was comfortable! They are renovating so the hallway was not painted all the way but that's perfectly fine! The breakfast was good both mornings we were there. The walk to the ballpark was so nice! We didn't want to worry about parking for a game which is why we stayed at this location. Along the way to the park, there are a lot of different places to eat and little shops! If you're a runner/walker it's a perfect area to do this in also while out of town! The doors got stuck when opening and closing, but other than that I can't complain! As a heads up, because this is an older building probably, if you're on the bottom floor the people above will sound really loud walking!

Never been to Chicago. Stayed one night here very nice classy motel. Very well kept. My only complaint is the noisy air conditioner unit.

besides construction and painting inside and out, walls are peeling and what is sold as a "full breakfast" is hardly even a continental breakfast. building very worn down and in need up major upgrade.

The cost per night was definitely a little high, but that was probably because I booked last minute. The rooms were quiet, check in was smooth, and the offer a continental breakfast. There is also a small fitness center with a sauna. Overall I was very pleased with my stay!

If I could give this place 0 stars, I really would. My friends and I were celebrating a birthday, and the birthday boy had rented out the hotels under his name. He ended up having the key card to my friends hotel room, and ended up passing out in his own room, unable to answer his phone calls because he was passed out. We asked the front desk and their hospitality was HORRIBLE. The receptionist was an older lady, and she was down right very purposely rude to us. We had tried to have a conversation with her about the situation going on, and she would not let us even speak. She ended up calling the police because we were being "disorderly". We told the police what was going on, and they worked very well with us. The receptionist was trying to get us banned from all best westerns, was very clear on the fact that she did not want to help us out for WHATEVER REASON. The police looked at her and laughed in her face, because we were not disorderly, were respectfully and clear, and understanding. The lady looked crazy and stupid quite frankly. Horrible experience, she assumed we were on drugs, when we just celebrating a birthday and minding our business. All around, horrible experience and they really have some miserable people working the front desk. This was on 3/14/2024. Horrible experience and will be talking to the manager on duty

My partner and I stayed at this hotel because of its location to Wrigley Field. According to the pictures posted online, it appeared to be clean and in a nice neighborhood. We only stayed one night, but we were not as impressed as we had hoped to be. Customer service was ok. We didn't see automatic doors so we could roll in our luggage, so we struggled stuffing them in the front door and pushed them down the steps into the lobby The front desk staff watched us and said they could've offered help, but stood and watched us. When helping us with the check-in and check-out process, it was ordinary. The big PRO of our stay was the neighborhood that surrounded the hotel. The neighborhood appeared very gay friendly, upbeat and appealing. There are nice restaurants and shops close by, but not too close to Wrigley Field. If we go back, we will be staying in the same area. Also, breakfast is offered with your stay, which is always a plus. Our room had a microwave and fridge. The room was spacious for a king bedroom. The biggest CON of our stay was the cleanliness of our room. Especially with COVID still prevalent, how clean a room is matters. The hallways smelled of bleach, which was good but borderline overwhelming. The smell of bleach hits your nose as soon as you walked in and out of your room. After checking in, that was the first smell that hit us once we got to the elevator and walked the hallway to our room. After a day of sightseeing, we just wanted to rest before heading out for the evening. To our dismay, we found that the liens to the bed were soiled and there were hairs under the blankets. It was such a turn off for my partner and I that we didn't go under to covers. It makes you wonder what wasn't clean since the last person stayed in the room. Also, we heard other guests through the walls. There were noises from other rooms that ruminated throughout our room during the night. It was just a one night stay, but it we had stayed longer, we would've complained. Lastly, the appearance of the room (beyond cleanliness) was in need of repair. For example, our room was a corner room, but the plantation shade was broken (see picture). There were also cracks in the walls and obvious re-caulking in the bathroom. Overall, if you're looking for a quick stay, this would be a place to go AS LONG AS THERE ARE CLEAN LIENS. However, for me, CLEANLINESS IS KEY and I probably won't go back here.

Friendly front desk help is needed. The overnight guy is super friendly. Prior notice of conditions in the room is needed. The shower water pressure was horrible never saw any of the staff members smile and barely got a greeting when approached housekeepers bang their vacuum cleaners against the walls very loudly when you're trying to sleep. very pricey for what you get, they take advantage of the lack of accommodations in that specific area. The complementary breakfast was decent, but unfortunately, they present it in an area that is way too small to serve yourself without tripping over others. The place needs a serious updating, but I believe they are in the process of doing that. I could hear same-sex couples physically engaged from the hallway. This doesn't bother me in the least because I entered my room my room and couldn't hear it from in there so that's what matters . it might bother or offend others. For the record, this is the first time I ever heard that in any hotel hallway. But I imagine it's quite common. I actually felt glad they were enjoying their stay. I won't be returning the next time I'm in Chicago.

We have stayed her a few times. Very nice hotel, rooms are nice and clean, beds are comfy and a great location for a cubs game and restaurants.

I had a great stay this past weekend. Pros: Great location, room was clean, bathroom/shower were great, no carpeting in room (yay). Laminate flooring, but it looked and felt like hardwood. Plenty of outlets and lights and great mirror in bathroom and a large one in the room. Fairly quiet until the rooms nearby slammed their doors (inconsiderate guests). Comfy bed (a bit soft for me, but fine). I thought the included breakfast was decent and was a bit different each day, but always the option to make your own waffle as well as the cinnamon rolls from Ann Sather's. Plenty of options: hard boiled eggs, English muffins, toast, fruit, cereal, oatmeal, juices, coffee, tea, a rotating entree (like eggs/sausage, or eggs/bacon or today was French Toast.) Yogurt from a machine, which I was skeptical about, but it was great. Bottled water. Coffee/Tea any time. So easy to start your day. Great housekeeping staff (though they don't make up your room each day, which is fine). Front desk staff was mostly friendly. Cons: lobby is a few steps down (didn't seem wheelchair accessible, but they have another building next door which might be/seemed to be). Things I read in previous reviews: musty odor. There was none. The hallways just smelled clean (although the carpet had a stain or two). I would definitely return. No, it's not a 5 star hotel, but doesn't cost as much either. It was more than fine for my needs.

Ok, so I booked online in advance to take a couple days vacation. I paid $300 a night for two nights, $600. First, they put me in a half su me basement room that looks at a dirty fence that smelled musty and moldy, then there was a 11/2 inch multi legged bug on the wall- they cam and killed, then there were dog hairs on the floor and 10" long hairs in the bathroom on the floor,.... Ok. Moving on, not going to let this bring me down. So I left the next morning and left maid service sign on my door. I com back and no maid service was rendered. I called the desk and was told because I stayed less than three days, I don't get room service. Was told I can go get some towels if I like. That's ridículas!! If I am paying u $300 a night then you need to service my room! I'm not paying motel6 prices. I'm paying luxury prices and you darn well need to give me some service and a clean non smelly above ground room. This is one of the worst experiences I've ever had in a hotel room. I suggest you go to one of the other local hotels. They are better, cleaner, above ground, not smelly and they service your room.

The entrance way is beautiful - reminds me of an English garden. The ivy climbing up the building lends a romantic feel. A beautiful tree shades the entrance with a park-like setting. The front terrace is stylish with brick walk ways and twinkling lights in the evening. It's the perfect place to sit and plan one's day, or relax and ruminate over the days events. The lobby has plenty of seating, two Queen Anne chairs and a love seat, in front of a fireplace and two large windows with window panes to match the French door entrance. The lobby also has tables to sit and hang out, play cards, or enjoy the continental breakfast. There are fax machines, computers and a copier for those needed these items. The young ladies at the front desk are friendly, professional, and helpful. "As a platinum member," the desk clerk said, "We've moved you to a suite." "The best western actually has two buildings," she said. She gave us our keys and told us how to get to the entrance way. We were very happy. It's our thirtieth wedding anniversary, so this was a pleasant surprise!! The room looks to have the original honey-colored wood floors - spectacular! A couch separates the king-sized bed from the living area. A TV sits on top of the dresser. One can watch from the couch or you can watch from bed because the tv is huge! There is a wardrobe to hang clothes. An ironing board and blow dryers are available in the room. The desk area is part of the dresser which I like. The furniture has a distressed look which again, I like. The kitchen has coffee cups, wine glasses, plates, silverware, Keurig, microwave and dishwasher and two burners for cooking. There might be an oven, but I'm on vacation from cooking. The kitchen has a table to sit an eat or plan the day. The floor is ceramic plank. Stylish! The bathroom has two sinks, ceramic plank flooring and a over sized shower with glass doors - beautiful. I love the two bathrobes- comfy. I love the two mirrors. They are the new style with lights but into the mirror. I'm so buying those for my bathroom. The king size bed (mattress) is extremely comfortable. I melted into the bed. The pillows are so soft, I melted into them as well. There is a breakfast is our building but a larger one in the other building. I'm sure it will be good and that it's the usual continental breakfast!

Facility in need of maintenance. Not up to Best Western standards. In addition by indoor jacuzzi tiles are loose and extremely dangerous.

My son and I both woke up covered in bed bug bites - completely ruined our vacation - don't stay here.

Great location for restaurants and some stores & markets. I went to get in bed on my first night and found black hairs in the bed. Second night the room next to mine was up till after 2am parting. No security to monitor this activity so if I complain and they want revenge I'm on my own. Communication to front desk on both matters never receiving a response from management Slow and poor internet Most rooms have no view and look into a parking garage or building next door. The furniture is very old in the room and the lowest quality.

STAY AWAY. I have stayed here over 15 times, with each stay hoping it be a better experience. This last stay was by far the worst but every stay has been a huge disappointment. Call me crazy for coming back so often after bad stay after bad stay but I needed this location and there are no other hotels in this precise area. That being said, I paid enough money here which would get me some of the best hotels downtown. I will never again stay here. It was a nightmare, literally. They did away with Do Not Disturb signs and housekeeping kept knocking three times and called even. A sign and keeping track would have prevented this. The hotel is run down and lots of problems with the rooms. But this "service" this time was why I will never go back. Also housekeeping constantly scream down the halls to each other. The room doors do not stop the sound. The blinds let in too much light. I have been going here for 12 years and recommend blackout curtains each time but they still don't have a blackout option. The front desk called to ask for the 4th time if we wanted housekeeping and for the 4th time we said no but instead of a sorry, I got a threat to leave if I don't like it because I was upset about constantly being bothered. It wasn't just me either. I heard other rooms complain too.

We didn't even get a chance to check in we got here early I understand usually not check in until 3 PM so we store the bags and went to the Cubs game came back at 4:30 and was told our room still wasn't ready so we waited they checked on it another five or 10 minutes we got our room and our bags were not in the room so we had to go back down and get our bags usually they put them in your room once your room is ready. We were a little tired and upset and the 2 young ladies at the counter were not friendly.

I used to live down the street from this Best Western for a few years and never had the occasion to stay here, but always admired the cute courtyard and the fact that there was a hotel in the heart of Boystown/Lakeview that seemed unique and well integrated into the neighborhood. Well, this past week we finally had the occasion to stay there! We had some friends playing at the Metro so we decided to come in for the night and see them. This is one of the closer hotels to the venue so it was nice to finally stay and see it from the inside. Worth noting: this is actually two separate buildings. The first is the older building that has the courtyard and the signage. That's where the lobby and front desk is located. The other building is next door and called "The Annex" and you'll need to access that via your room key. We were placed in the Annex so I can't speak to the rooms in the main building but the Annex was a great space. ALSO worth noting, when we checked in we were given our initial room but when we went up the room was not yet made up. So we went back downstairs and the wonderful front desk clerk quickly fixed the situation and not only got us a new room but upgraded us to a suite! Hot damn! I wish we had been staying more than one night because the room was great. It had a small living area, a huge two sinked bathroom, and a kitchen fully stocked with utensils, plates, cups, and small appliances like a fridge, and a two burner stove. And a king sized bed, of course. It was clean, comfortable, and incredibly spacious. Walking distance to great things like the aforementioned Metro music venue, Wrigley Field and the neighborhood itself which is jam packed with delicious dining, good coffee, and a bit of shopping. Easy access to the Broadway, Clark, Halsted, Addison, and Belmont bus lines and walking distance to the Belmont or Addison el stops will help you get around too.

We had a wonderful time at our short stay here! Staff was friendly, nice breakfast spread, everything was clean and nice. Definitely recommend this place!

Basic hotel, horrible service and spotty WiFi. My wife and I are visiting family in Chicago while celebrating my birthday. We had wonderful hopes after scenic terrace but it was soon dashed by the WiFi service and rust in the rooms. Not to mention a sub par included breakfast. The only positive thing about it is the location to things.

the two star rating is generous. the lovely facade belies what's happening inside the building. upon entering, a housekeeper was vacuuming in front of the entry. as she vacuumed, we had to wait for her to finish her job before we could descend the three steps into the lobby. check in was a breeze. down the corridor to the elevator with it's doors marred with drips and stains, the interior of the elevator was worse. the doors interiors were dirty, stained, clearly not maintained as was the service panel with the finish rubbed off the elevator buttons after years of use. just shabby. the creaking and grinding door opened on our floor, first view was a plastic yellow caution floor sign wedged between a wall and a settee. no place to store the sign? just jam it into any spot, such care. down the corridor to the room, nothing special, just a basic moderate room. nice bed. nice pillows. quiet rom. off to breakfast the next morning, 6:50, just wanted a cup of coffee, the woman setting up breakfast gave me a hard time as i was ten minutes early for coffee. no matter, i took my coffee and then seat at a high top table in the lobby "breakfast room" [hardly] along side a grade level window. the windows were filthy. it appeared the last time they were washed was a very, Very, VERY long time ago. looking out onto the freshly mulched garden area, a movement caught my eye. focusing on the area i saw something move, a rat, a very, very LARGE rat appeared, photo attached. mind you, i'm a pretty easy going person but rats looking at me as i drink my first morning coffee, no thanks. i brought this to the attention of the desk clerk who offered the explanation of "the alley is full of garbage cans." i really don't care what the alley is full of, there are rats playing in the garden a few feet from my breakfast spot. later that day, sitting in the courtyard not far from the fountain, another rat appeared, this one was, without question, the largest rat i have ever seen. if you know about rats, you know, unless a rat feels very safe, they do not come out for foraging during the height of the day. this particular rat seemed to be strutting his stuff, walking around, drinking from the fountain.....my friends were aghast and immediately went inside the building. "there's noting i can do about it" said the clerk. i once stayed at one of those very inexpensive roadside motels where a free breakfast is included in the room price. at this best western hawthorn, it was the same cereal box, make your own waffle, have a piece of fruit and powdered eggs breakfast. all this for only $300.00 a night. this hotel saw better days years ago. at this point, it's rundown, un-cared for, running on fumes kind of joint no one really wants to stay at. so, all in all, if rundown & shabby is your thing, this is a great place. if your standards are higher, most especially for a $300.00 per night hotel, this hotel is not for you. for me, never again and never again any best western. nasty, nasty, nasty.

That's my first time I visited this hotel on my own in Boystown for my one night stay. Can't wait to visit there soon.

Very close to Boystown. Older hotel but clean and larger sized rooms. Small fitness center but has a great sauna! Staff were phenomenal. Very impressed with the friendliness of housekeeping staff! They always greeted us when they saw us.

This hotel is cute, from the exterior and the interior, when you walk up to the hotel you walk through a garden with little tables and benches. The beds are really comfortable with plenty of soft pillows and the comforter is nice as well. When I arrived the room was extremelyclean and stocked with towels, soap, shampoo and a blow dryer. Heres the not so good...my room was pretty much in front of the elevator. I had a hard time sleeping i heard every noise the elevator made all night long "ding" people going up and down allll night long. After i finally fell asleep at 3am i got woken up early around 7ish to a barking dog in the hallway... i then fell back asleep but got woken up to the people above me pacing around their room around 8am. Overall the hotel was great with the exception of the noise......if i stayed on the 4th floor away from the elevator this would have been a 5 star experience. This hotel is way nicer than your typical best western, in face i wpuld have never guessed it was a best western, it was rather boutique-ish.

Great location and SUPER cute! Very nice Best Western in Boy's Town. Near LOTS of restaurants and easy walking distance to ball park. Got coupons for free margaritas down the street at check in! My room was very nice, clean, modern! Not sure if all rooms come with a mini fridge, but that was a nice bonus. Bed was very comfy, too. Bathroom was modern with an open style shower. It appeared to be handicap accessible? Breakfast in the AM, too. Valet parking right next door. I would def stay here again!

Clean, quaint, right within walking distance to boystown with really good food options around. This place is basically two building plus a parking garage. The main building has a cute little patio as you walk in. Open the main doors and you take a couple of steps down to the reception area where the attendant checks you in, hands you ur room card and sends you on your way - no surprises here. Room 106 is supposed to come with a king size bed, looks more like a queen size so we requested a change. They sent us to what they call the annex. It is right next door - no connection inside so you have to walk right back out but it's no big deal. Anyways, the room was identical to the first one we were given, except this one did have a king size bed! Room was nice, with a nice bathroom. Spacious, nicely done in a modern contemporary feel. The bathroom has one of those rain type shower heads or if you prefer, you can use the handheld shower head. Go for the rain shower one. Water comes out with a good pressure too. When we stayed they were featuring citrus flavored shampoo and soap: yumm!! Left you feeling and smelling refreshed!

Nice little hotel Is in a good area and the rooms are spacious. This is a smaller hotel and quiet. I would recommend this place to others coming to visit Chicago. Good resteraunt nearby as well.

I loved my stay here. It was super clean and comfortable. Their beds are amazing. I slept like a baby. Even their bedding on the bed was really nice. Pillows are fluffy and not super firm. Breakfast is included every morning and it was really good. Its a full breakfast, not just skimpy dry cereal. Its actually really nice. And they provide homemade cinnamon rolls (I think they're from across the street at Anne Sathers??but not sure). Anyways bomb af. The room was great. Loved my stay. I'd def stay there again.

We love this hotel. We stay here when we visit Chicago. It is in the middle of boystown and is surrounded by good food bars and entertainment. They have a hot breakfast which is OK but they serve Anne Sathers cinnamon rolls - which is great!!!

This hotel is in an excellent location close to restaurants and attractions, and only about 10 minutes away from Wrigley field. The rooms are nice and very clean and the staff was friendly. I would recommend this hotel if you are going to be in the area.

Both my husband and I worked in the hotel industry for many years, and have lived and visited many times In Chicago. This was one of our best hotel experiences! Clean room and beautifully appointed, very friendly staff in a fantastic location! We would definitely stay here again!!

I never stayed here but these guys called me out of the blue because somebody dropped off my wallet at the hotel. Which I accidentally lost in front of the Treasure Island supermarket next door. 1 star deducted for not putting extra money in my wallet.

I used to live right across the street from this hotel, and so when I decided to go back to Chicago for a visit, this hotel was my obvious first choice! My sister and I flew in (her first trip ever to Chicago) and got the the hotel at 10:30 am. We thought we were just dropping out luggage off, but ended up being able to check in and go to our room! So nice after traveling since 4 am! The entire hotel was clean. We loved that at night, you have to show your room key to get inside! Such a nice security feature! When we asked for extra towels, they brought them immediately! The staff was friendly and always greeted us with a hello and a smile! We loved our stay here and it was a great bonus to my trip back to my favorite city!!

Best Western Plus Hawthorne Terrace Hotel is conveniently located about half a mile from Wrigley Field. As you arrive in front, a courtyard with a few tables and benches surrounds the entrance, giving it that "homey" feeling. Walk to the check-in counter, where you'll see a few tables on the right for the breakfast nook. As you continue down the hallway, the elevators and breakfast items (complementary breakfast 7-11am) will be on the right. Side note: A parking voucher is available upon check-in. My dad and I checked-in around 11pm and asked the concierge for recommendations on late night dining (there weren't many places within walking distance) and he tried his best to recommend a few places but could only suggest GrubHub. So, I took to my handy dandy cell phone and used YELP recommendations, upon which I stumbled on Cheesie's ! .... SUPER GOOD (see review)!!! Our 2 double bed room included a small living space with a couch and chair as well as an additional TV. There's also a desk area, a mini-fridge, and a Keurig with a few K-Cups, as well. The bathroom is spacious and conveniently includes a hair dryer on the back of the door! There were 2 windows, one in the bed area and one in the living room area, which allows for plenty of natural light; however, the view, eh, not so great... we saw the balconies of a few apartments next to our hotel. Overall, the room was clean, the service was friendly and attentive (we asked for more K-Cups & towels), and the beds were comfortable. I really enjoyed having a hotel room that was similar to a small apartment.. i.e. - bedroom, living area, tiny dining space, etc. It made for a more cozy stay!

Great hotel! Not a typical Best Western at all. This is a boutique type hotel in a great neighborhood for walking and enjoying yourself. Great places to eat and almost any service you desire is right outside the door. Not to mention a full service grocery store is less than half a block away. You cannot go wrong staying here.

Great service -- great area - pleasant staff-- 5 stars all the way!!! The area is very nice-- it certainly does not feel like a chain hotel!!!

Beautiful hotel rooms, but it's still a Best Western. I was very pleased with my hotel room here. I can tell they put some good money into renovating the rooms, especially the bathrooms. Who doesn't love a good shower stall! As opposed to tub/shower combo... That said the price is definitely driven by the location. My room rate was $238/night. For that money I would expect some form of room service. The staff was okay. Seemed a bit disinterested but were nonetheless pleasant. Overall, it's a budget hotel with the prices and room quality of a major hotel. If you pretty much keep to your room then you couldn't ask for more.

DO NOT STAY HERE! I traveled here from Detroit with my pet and my mom for a 2 day stay. Upon arriving at the hotel, I saw a mouse in broad daylight scurrying along the white fence. I should've never checked in but did ANYWAY. Then while walking my Yorkie a few hours later (around 8pm, not dark yet) I see a huge rat about 4 feet from the hotel entrance run into the flowers. I was PETRIFIED. Not to mention while walking my dog the majority of the pedestrians were rude. I tried to speak, but most were dry or didn't speak back. As a black person, I know when people have rude intentions! I was so disgusted. I took my dog outside once more at midnight and see another HUGE RAT, on the opposite side of the building. At that point I was OUTDONE! I complained to the front desk about this rat infested place, and she said that it's common for the north side and the people who live there adjust. This hotel is located in a MILLION DOLLAR NEIGHBORHOOD and you mean to tell me rats running around is cool? I will NEVER adjust to living with rodents because I DON'T live that way at home. She also stated that the exterminator was there last week and that they won't come into the hotel. One thing I KNOW about mice is that they can get into any crack and make their way in. Please. You can't tell me that staff hasn't seen a few mice (or RATS) running through the basement of the hotel. ANYWAY, I was uncomfortable so they moved us from the first floor to the top floor. I despised letting my dog out from there on and stopped expecting people to be nice. DO NOT STAY HERE! Don't stay in lake view, north side or downtown period. Get a hotel room in the suburbs and drive in. IF YOU'RE A MINORITY, find somewhere else to stay. If you're cool with rats and rudeness, this would be the perfect location for you.

I booked a room here last minute during a power outage in my building and services would not be restored until the next day. I booked this hotel because my parents have stayed here and have had good experiences. I am a single parent with an infant and on this day it was extremely cold. I showed up to the hotel with my kid in the stroller and a suitcase. First thing I was struggling to get through the front door. The concierge sat there and watched me and did not offer to help or even greet me. As I was checking in I asked for a crib and help with bag. He could not be bothered to help me. Found someone else to bring me a pack n play and at that point I was like I'll do it myself. The pack n play is dropped off at my room and it looks like it's had better days. It was worn and dirty looking. They pop up the pack n play and hand me some sheets. At this point my baby needs to be fed and is crying so the guy exits my room. They gave me king size sheets for a pack n play which is not safe. Next morning I am leaving, new concierge person and no offers to help me with my bag or even open the door. A few days later I look at my bank account and I was charged multiple charges and over charged compared to my online confirmation. I reached out to the general manager with no response. Overall the hotel and room was clean and decent decor. However the staff and customer service is lacking in a big way.

Here is a genuine find for a semi-tight-fisted tourist like me... I've never stayed in the Lakeview neighborhood area before, and I liked it. There are lots of fun places to eat and shop but still close enough to the Red Line for all the other Chicago attractions. This Best Western hotel was a terrific find for me since I was less than enthralled with their more generic and congested River North hotel closer to the Loop. That was full of college kids with hefty backpacks on weekend benders. This one attracts more of the middle-aged set who roll their suitcases from the cab. Oh wait, that would be me. It's a Georgian-style boutique hotel with a very friendly staff. I paid $150 per night for a nice-sized room with a king. It was very well maintained, and the "Do Not Disturb" sign actually seems to work in the morning. I never went in for their continental breakfast because hell, I was just across the street from Ann Sather. Besides, those early-rising Europeans beat me to it anyway. It takes about twenty minutes to walk to the Belmont station, which is on the main artery of the CTA since the Red Line goes up and down almost the full length of the visitable city. I'd definitely come back here in the summer months when the stroll is a bit more bearable.

I would have never thought that a Best Western could be this nice. Great location, too. Right in the heart of the party district on the corner of Roscoe and North Halstead. There was even a coffee maker, refrigerator/freezer and microwave in the room. The front desk folks were very helpful and friendly, too.

Was in town for work but wanted to do a little shopping and hit a Cubs vs. Yankees game before catching an evening flight home. Property is a 15min walk or 5min Uber to Wrigley Field, lots of great restaurants in the area and pretty close to the lake. The facing on the building and the small terrace area out front are actually quite nice, it sets almost sets the building back a bit and keeps street traffic and noise down. Check in is friendly and quick, no issues there. Room had hardwood style floors [pretty sure its laminate] so no icky carpet or gross stains. Comfy bed, functioning AC/Heat, min-fridge microwave and Keurig all in room. Wifi was decent, had some issues making VOIP calls for work but the property was completely booked during my stay which happened to coincide with Cinco de Mayo. Towels weren't too scratchy, strong bathroom fan, good lighting, toiletries were decent, and lots of towels provided. Iron, board, and blow-dryer all as standard and in good shape. Fitness center was a few cardio machines, a free wight area with bench, and a cable system which was pretty decent. Hot dry sauna and a well maintained hot tub with very strong jets and a perfect view of the LCD mounted in the fitness area so you can catch the playoffs while soaking. Breakfast area is small but decent: eggs, some kind of sausage thing, cereal/yogurt, waffle maker, some fruit, lots of drinks and coffee/tea of course. The woman re-stocking the area was on point, nothing seemed out of stock or spent. Luggage storage at checkout so I could go to the game, easy pickup afterwards and then a Lyft to the airport. If you're in town for a game or don't have to stay in the loop for work check this place out. Great value for the price, decent neighbourhood, friendly staff. Would stay again.

This place is seriously great. Most hotels I looked at close to DePaul were either really expensive, "artisinal" and trying way too hard, or had 2 star ratings. This place is incredibly cute and comfortable, from the brick courtyard to the legit comfy bed to the fresh fruit bowl at the counter. Tons of transit, food, and stores within walking distance, and nice folks at the front desk. I was very glad I booked myself a room here during my work trip. Price couldn't be beat, either.

This small hotel has been rehabbed nicely by the Best Western chain. If you want to stay in Lakeview to be somewhat near Wrigley Field, this hotel on Broadway is not a bad spot to be. Heck, even the red brick exteriors have some ivy growing on them.

Best hotel bed I ever slept in. Room was cozy and comfortable. Staff was very friendly and knowledgeable concerning city attractions. I would definitely stay here again.

Let me start this review by saying that the staff at the hotel were really nice. The issues that I experienced were ants in the room, in addition to ants in the spa/gym area. There were literally ants around the whirlpool, on the towels, and on the floor. Lots of them!! I informed the front desk, but continued to see ants in our room and around the whirlpool. Lastly, I witnessed two different couples having sex in the whirlpool. The first couple had on street clothes in the pool and a bottle of champagne. They stopped once I entered and left the area. I decided to get in the sauna, since clearly getting in the whirlpool wasn't an option. While in the sauna a second couple came in and got into the whirlpool. Within minutes they started to have sex, and I could see them from the sauna. I alerted the front desk and the couple was gone when we returned. The manager did have the whirlpool drained and cleaned. However, upon checkout we were not offered a discount. When we asked to speak with the manager, who had been informed of the issues we experienced, she acted clueless. We reminded her of the issues and that one of the other employees had offered us a discount for our inconvenience. She grabbed a calculator and told us she would give us 20% off and walked away. She didn't ask if that was acceptable to us or offer a discount on future stays. I'm very disappointed with the experience and definitely won't be returning.

This hotel is just delightful and welcoming. Pleasant and approachable staff throughout. I was fortunate enough to have a room on the 3rd floor off the corner which was quiet and spacious. What I really like is its wonderful neighbourhood location which is not far away from the City Center at all (short metro ride) but in amongst Boystown and Lakeview East and on the cusp of Belmont Theatre District. All very nice neighbourhoods with plenty to see and do. A minor quibble is that there was a minor leak in my shower head (which really wasn't an issue during my stay). Also breakfast can get understandably crowded in the pantry room with not enough cardboard trays or tables to sit and eat in the lobby during peak AM hours. Other than that, I can't fault this hotel at all and made my maiden trip to Chicago memorable. I will be coming back again!

This hotel is literally a hidden gem in a friendly, diverse, and vibrant area of Chicago. From the moment that I made my reservation, Abdiel established rapport and helped with me room selection and gave super helpful information about the area. At check in, super sweet Abdiel and Francis were so welcome and accommodating. I felt like I was walking into a family gathering. Francis later provided so much information about the neighborhood and was super responsive to any questions or needs that arose. Absolutely incredible customer service in a warm, comforting environment. In the morning, Suzy and I had good conversation and the breakfast staff were super patient in a tight serving space. I really can't say enough good about my experience here. I will definitely return to this hotel, and I hope that Abdiel and Francis will be making tons more money, so they stay in the job when I return so that I can see them again. These guys should really be paid guides around the area. They are so fun and so knowledge and so super cute! Thanks guys, you are freaking incredible! And, yeah, Polly, but you probably know who I am! Best Western, you are rocking this location!

Nice place but here is there deal: no one at the desk when I checked in... And no one at the desk when I checked out. Plan extra time ...

Hot breakfast food was dry and nasty. Windows and doors need to be sound proofed. Can hear everything outside of room. When we arrived the window was open and room was ice cold. The shower drain was also not put together after cleaning. AC/heat doesn't work right.
